The base residual value is calculated against the MSRP.

For loaner vehicles, that amount is reduced by .25/mile; ergo, if the car has 3000 miles on it, the residual is reduced by $750.

There are a couple of ways to account for the tax credit - one is to offer a large incentive, the other is to inflate the residual. BMW has chosen the latter option.

It's all up to the bank creating the lease programs - the idea is to set it up to achieve a certain payment range.
