But, with over 5000 miles, I don't know.

Hello all, hopefully someone can clear this up for me.
My sister in law recently got this quote:
Msrp $57,295
Discount $1995
Selling price $55,300
Dealer fee 899
Sales tax $3422.33
Tag $607.85

1406 upfront 779.61 a month

My question is regarding the sales tax, I’ve leased cars from VW, Subaru, Audi and Jeep never had to pay taxes upfront always on the monthly payment. Further note that amount represents the taxes for the full price of the car.

Is this like a BMW thing?

Each state treats tax on a lease differently.

That is correct - I'll bet she's looking at the purchase numbers, where tax is paid up front on the entire selling price.

Ask her to get the actual lease worksheet, not the "customer friendly" print out, which is confusing.

I'll bet this is an AutoNation dealer.

For 7.5/36, it should be 60% right?

Minus 25 cents per mile (3600*0.25) = $900

So, if the MSRP was $60k, residual would be $35,100.

Is there any additional residual penalties or adjustments because this car is under 4000 miles?

Also, he says company policy is to mark up MF to 0.00133. It stings but the sales price is 17% down BEFORE the incentives, which is a good chunk... Would you say this is a good deal?

Thank you! The residual issue was an error, I think they were basing it on the previous "sale" price of the car (the previous mark down) and not the sticker MSRP.

MF they say is firm. This is the second dealership I've ever dealt with that simply go "We do not sell at buy rate", very direct.

I offered a monthly payment that is closer to their number than my target number, so we will see what they say.
