My daughters boyfriend is still madd at me for selling the Z71. The other night he and his friends went "mudd'n" and all 4 of them got stuck. Since they knew of no one else who owned a truck and were all afraid of calling their parents they called me. Yep, you guessed it, I had to use the Lexus LS400 to pull those boys out!! I had to use five 75' straps connected together to reach a truck so that I could remain on a partial dirt/old pavement road. Once I got one out he did the rest. I'll never let them hear the end of it now!!
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
What kinda trucks did they have?

I wouldnt let ya hear the end of it either. A lexus come on man. Its a nice vehicle but wouldnt you like to be out with them mudding? Does you daughter have a truck?

I wouldnt be able to call my dad if i got stuck that 2wd S-10 would be no help.

    I would be SOL

Is it normal for the light to come on only briefly and then shut off? This is the first time it has come on. How do you reset it?

Obyone - did you ever get the rear quarters replaced? My dealer has the drivers side in stock but is waiting for the passenger side to arrive. He said he verified the part #s with the new TSB.

I've had the intermediate shaft replaced on my '00 Chevy on two occasions for the rattle/clunk. Both times the part # was 26083324. I have a friend with a '99 GMC getting the shaft update. The part # he gave me was 26085548. Are the part #s for GMC and Chevy the same or did they come out with a newer version of the shaft? Thanks

The oil light normally comes on and then goes off. It becomes more persistent until you reset it.

Your manual covers resetting the light, by basically you turn the key on but don't start the engine. Wait until the dash is done self-testing, then push the throttle to the floor 3 times in 5 seconds or 5 times in 3 seconds. Anyway, when it accepts your reset command it will flash the oil light and then reset.

The squeal when wet comes from the fact that the pads aren't seating on a smooth rotor surface, and with water in between the pad and rotor, it has to squeeze out before they get some bite. Sounds like ya'll been hard on your brakes awhile back. If the rotors have bright spots with streeks, it is a sign of heavy braking that develops hot spots and an uneven surface that is not smooth any more. So the pads skip across the rotor until they get hot enough to bite into that uneveness.
Dean is right about the rental truck in CA. I rented one for a week in Chicago and the brakes felt like a bag of dog do-do. After driving around for that time, about 300 miles, and concentrating on the brakes using moderate pressure and anticipating stops ahead of time, they started to come back to where they felt like they would stop good and have a firm pedal. The rotors were still streeked but not as badly.
Refer to page 2-14 in the owner's manual.

are they? can't really tell by looking....something wrong with either photographer or camera.....

    odenmeyer

I had a test drive with tech last week Thursday and we were talking about the windows. He told me that he was glad he didn't have to look it up as it would have taken forever to find the new TSB ending with an "A". He did say the part nos. are different than the original TSB not confirming whether they are made of metal or plastic but just that they are different. I am awaiting delivery of mine also. They said to figure on the truck being out of commission for at least two days since it has to go to a body shop to perform the TSB.

    Ryan

Since you're in college you may want to take another geography course. If I didn't fly, taking a boat would've taken forever to get to the other island. I know the rado is a good truck, but it doesn't stand a chance against the Pacific Ocean.

You cant really tell but from the side you can see em sticking out right dean???

GEOGRAPHY CLASS? Havent had one of those since 9th grade. I was just being funny to me taking a vacation to hawaii when you live in hawaii is kinda awkward. How was your trip?

    Ryan
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
island chain is called Hawaii. Great trip. Waaay to short. Not enough golf, too much drinking...
Each island in the chain has it's own uniqueness. Making for difficult choices at times as to which one to visit and the golf courses are awesome.

You bought ventshades, the one's with the 3m tape? Tell me you didn't buy the one's with the tape.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Yep 3m double sided tape. Already came attatched the the shades. I really like em actually.

2 Ferds (1996 & 1998), both 3/4 ton 4x4, 1 Chevy (2000) 1/2 ton, 4x4 and a 1999 GMC 1/2 ton 2x4 (boyfriends truck). No, my daughter does not have a vehicle yet, she's saving to buy it this summer. Her intension is to buy a truck, she can't decide on a 97 Ferd or a 97 Cheby, but she does want 4x4, no xcab (as late model as she can afford). Her boyfriend is going to trade in for a Cheby/GMC 4x4, 3/4 ton, duramax, xcab (his 99 is paid for (Mom)).
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
    No "tundras"?
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
the bfs mom paid for the truck? That must be nice. Only thing my mom paid for was the nerf bars cause she felt i got em because of her haha.

My gf wants a sebring. I think i have a yr or 2 to change her mind. She keeps on hinting she wants to drive my truck. SHould i let her guys? Not far but like around the block?

    Ryan
  • mledtjemledtje Member Posts: 1,123
You've got to let her drive it. She will never want that Sebring again.

You may have to buy a 2nd truck, however.

glad you had the opportunity to visit our 50th state.

Is meredith on vacation or are we actually trying for 1000 posts?
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
yea my truck is scarred for life already. She has no tickets. Only hit 1 car and that was because it was icy out and she slid into her neighbors when pulling in her driveway.

I have no tickets (knock on wood) either.
