when pulling in HER driveway....was the neighbor parked in HER driveway? Just curious....or did she just overshoot her driveway and ended up in Tundra country....LOL!!
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
overshot due to a patch of ice. SHe never really drove on ice before. happened about a yr ago when she first started driving.

No Tix for me tim. Been pulled over once by a state trooper. Going 93 in a 55 in my S-10 about 3 yrs ago. He told me at first it flashed 97 then a few seconds later it stayed at 76. So he went with the 76 i was going 21 mph over. Didnt get a tix only a warning cause it was 7am and there were only 3 cars on the road. Cop, me and guy next to me going as fast but he got me. Damn unmarked cop cars hehe

u know whats up when the chick gets hold of a guys truck. He has to kiss it goodbye. It is now hers. I've had 2 tickets since december. The first was with my parents in oregon doing 82 in a 55. The other was coming home from school doing 50 in a 35. I had a radar detector the second time but it didn't even go off. The cop got me out and showed me that if he does it fast enough ur a dead duck. That really sucks!

What's this thing called a ticket? I thought we were talking trucks! But since you brought them up my all time best was Public Drag Racing my in my 64 Ram Damler Station Wagon and my buddy in a 67 Chevelle 396 and all the goodies. He was mad as all get out and gave the judge and cop who wrote the tickets a lesson in Drag Racing, the judge dismissed the tickets and the last time we saw the HP he was between Blythe CA and Quartzite AZ. You talk about the middle of no where!!!

already had 2 in the ado...oh well....Like I tell the cops when they ask "how's your record".....I tell them...."I like to go fast!"

Only time I didn't get one....when going too fast was about 15 years ago....on the highway in a friends Bonneville....POS model....a chic in a Ferrari went hauling by...we floored it...all of a sudden this other guy came along side us....looked over...we looked over....and then he pulled the Chic over....I said hell....we were going 90 something too!......buddy said..."who do you think they are going to pull over?...a chic in a Red sports car or 2 punks in a POS Bonneville?"

    ......True story

    or not...If not....well...

Remember once driving in right lane on highway with speed limit 35 mph doing 40. Passed two cops giving a ticket to a guy on the side of the road. About a 1/4 mile passes and they are out of sight. This black Z28 flies past me doing 60-70 mph. A few minutes later I got this cop tailing me and signals for me to pull over. Pull over and he asks me how fast was I going...told him 40 in 35. He tells me more like 60, I told him no way. Now the wife is starting to get pissed and calls him a f... idiot. Boy oh boy...officer tells me he didn't get me with the laser but knows I was going at least 60. So I asked him if he was talking about the black z28 that passed me on the fly. He stood there for about 10 seconds thinking...then said I'll let you go this time but don't let me catch you speeding again...Tell me you can't tell the difference between a z28 and a Regal GS even though both are black. Wife was right he was a f... idiot...

No tickets in the truck. Police are partial to guys in trucks who look like they work in construction cause they all make overtime working for construction companies directing traffic...and you don't want to piss off no foreman who might remember you later.

Was doing well over 100 MPH in the Cobra going to L.A. at night. Saw reflective "California Highway Patrol" on the trunk at about 500 feet. Dropped down to 70, CHP pulls over to shoulder, gets behind me for about 5 miles. Pulls beside me and on the P.A. asks me to keep the speed down.

    No argument from me!!!

Blew out a tire on the way to work this AM. Can't get the spare to come down! Can't get the extension arm socket to engage whatever is in the hoist! Tried for over an hour! Finally left the truck on the side of the road and started walking to work.

    Any ideas?

Has anyone had any experience with the paint protection packages available through the dealer or aftermarket companies? I'm finally get out of my '00 Shakerado, into an '01, and seeing that the vehicle sits outside all year, and winter road salt use is extreme, is it worth the money? The two brands available in my area is Ziebart and Auto Armor.
  • ricschricsch Member Posts: 540
Insert the larger, rounded end into the tube (be sure to add another extension piece on, since it goes in a ways) and once it bottoms out, rotate it slowly to engage the end into the mechanism-the first time I used it, it was hard to get it right. The bar has to be put in straight to the cable release. Personally, GM could have made this easier to work with. hope this helps!

call gm roadside assistance if you cant get it down

Then take that blown out tire (im assuming firestone) back to the dealer and get 4 new tires

  • bcobco Member Posts: 756
and for those who've NOT done it before, i recommend you run a test drive on your spare. it's not easy. you need two of the extender shafts and your lug wrench. you have to put the larger, rounded end in the hole. i tried the smaller, sqare end for about five minutes before deciding to open the manual. ricsh is right...gm could've made it easier. but, they didn't, so you actually might have to open your manual. also...i remember reading awhile back that some were having trouble getting theirs down at all, even when using the tools properly. seems the factory torqued 'em down too hard. had to take it to the dealer to get it backed off a bit. listen...better to do it now, in your driveway with a beer than halfway to pennsylvania for turkey day in the cold and rain of the blue ridge mountains...

    Risch, Ryan, & BCO,

    Thanks for prompt the replies.

Tried all that to no avail; first one end then the other, wiggle & jiggle, twist and turn. Even crawled under to see if I could guide it in. Of course that was after it got light.

Called GM Roadside Assistance, they are sending out a tow truck to change the tire. NO CHARGE! The person who answered the phone said, "Oh yeah, thats a common problem."

Someone else posted about a similar problem and checking the spare was on my list of things to do. But, the one afternoon I had the time I washed and waxed the truck. Never thought I'd have a blow out with less than 2200 miles! Guess I'll have to calibrate my priorities.

    The tires are Goodyear.

U from california? They have been having troubles with goodyears too.

I think gm made it "people proof". I have known of many people who have had their spoare tires from under their trucks stolen. I guess they surely did make it antitheft. Antiowner too.

Got my survey in the mail last night. I tried to do it but their server was bogged down. I'll try again tonight. I got to the part about the engine questions before giving up.

I saw a 2500HD this past weekend in a local mall parking lot. It was a blue 4x4. We were walking behind it an the first thing I noticed was the HUGE tailpipe. When I went over to look closer at it I noticed it was a 2500HD. Nice truck.

I also saw a Pontiac Aztek yesterday on the way to work. Kind of weird looking.

If you have some time take a look at my webpage and let me know what you think. I am still working on some things so its not quite done.

I commend edmunds for listening to the people. I know i was one who voiced my opinion. I am open for change but there were a few things i did not like at all. Seemed like they were going towards the other sites (pickuptruck.com) direction. This is still by far the best (not including tims which is out of this world).

Thanks for listening to us merideth

  • hunter98hunter98 Member Posts: 273
Well hopefully we will make it to 1000 who knows, I guess Merideth wants to wait till were on 998. Anyways my local dealer finally got in a 2001HD GMC but it is 2wd and a 6.0L. Still a nice truck but it sits too high for a 2wd. I may go to the power launch tour next week at six flags in st louis, if I can get away from Carbondale for school. I guess they really had a wild time with riots down here but I was at home over halloween.

    Best of Luck

Tim been doing any hunting lately???

This past weekend went fishing and to close our trailer down for the winter. Me and my dad were coming back from eating and noticed a deer in the corn field so i slowed down. Off to the other side i seen another and another. I stopped i have never seen so many deer grouped together in my life. From what we counted there were 22 give or take a few. It was truely amazing. I have seen deer before but not this many in one area.

obyone - Thanks, Yes it is the old man color. But I think I qualify when compared with some of the people on here (35). I don't consider 35 old, but when I was 18 I did :-)

I saw up close and personal what a buck can do to a car at 60 mph. Had to drag the driver out of the car myself (was a young college student). Car was on fire and at about 11:00 at nite on the interstate (I-40 east of OKC). Truckers stopped and help and used their fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Took the OHP more than an hour to get there on a Friday night and then they were cranky because they had to respond to a car/animal accident. Thought they acted like jerks! Anyhow, the girl was OK, but I bet they totaled her car.

Watch out for those deer, cows, elk, horses, etc. - they can really mess up your vehicle.

notice that KCRAM participates...and so does Meredith and Pocahantas....and even Bonnie...but I don't think they would want to post too often or get too friendly making it harder to boot people. More like a totalitarian society...with the moderators being similar to SS troops... or the enforcers. My $.02 anyway...
