Near Cleveland I was quoted 31,600 for 2008 Touring FWD with moonroof/bose with 2.9% financing for 60 months.
I thought the price was too high...but was told by the internet sales rep that I would not be eligible for the 2.9% if she were to lower the price further.
I'll find out next week after a vist to the dealer.
I am about to order a CX-9, AWD Touring with the Bose-Moon roof package. The prices people are posting look great, yet I just hope they are the same in my area. Are people in Massachusetts paying under invoice? I am a member of AAA and was told that price is a % over invoice and then I am eligible for $1000 rebate or 2.9% financing. Does anyone have pricing experience in MA or northern CT.
Visited the dealer today and attempted to pick up a CX-9 with: AWD Grand Touring Touring Assist Moon-roof + Bose Remote Start Roof rails slash guards
Invoice on Edmunds was 37K. They showed me an invoice sheet that added a $500 assessment fee. I offered $36,500 including the fee and they said 'No can do'...so I left.
According to the dealer and the window sticker...BSM is actually an option for all trims for $200 MSRP...but according to Edmunds and KBB, BSM is a standard feature for the GT trim...
What's going on here...
By the way i paid (GT AWD w Assist, Moonroof, Autodimming, wheet locks)36,295 + 750.00 lease incentive for the car + 1,400 of BS fees
So at the end of the day I'm pretty close to 1,000 under invoice...
Even their glossy brochure states that BSM is standard on the GT. I've had an ongoing argument with the dealer for over 2 months now. Wrote to Mazda USA in Irvine who are more than aware of this problem. Fasle advertising? Can't do this any more -- it's illegal.
As has been said, check the actual build date of your vehicle. The BSM became standard GT equipment circa 9/07. Before that, it was a $200 option on all trim levels. Since then, not so much.
Don't reach for the attorney's card just yet. You most likely don't have a claim.
where is the best place to fine the build date of my car...so if my car was built after 9/07 then i was overcharged for the car? the fact that my car is an 2008...doesn't that mean my car was definitely build after 09/07??
again...i picked up the car over the weekend and there was a $200 charge for BSM, and if I can fine the build date and it's after 09/07...can i ask the dealer to refund me $200??
i'm pretty sure i'm going to need official documentation and/or proof that this is all true..where can i get all this in writing?? and no offense to all those who contribute to this forum..but i don't think i can use this forum as my official documentation or proof...:)
Build date can be found at the base of B-pillar. Open the driver's door, and look at the stickers at the base near the sill. Any car on sale on dealer's lot after Jan 02, 2007 (see Wikipedia, search "model year") can be claimed as 2008 model. That is the prevailing Fed regulation (even though there might be some arguments on this). You can now find 2009 Nissan Murano on sale at Nissan dealers since Feb/2008. Anyway, depending on how much doc you can produce as proof, you might ot might not have a case. Good luck.
I am in the Detroit area, and my wife and I are shopping for an 08 CX9 Touring white color, black leather, with Bose, Sunroof, and Towing Package
Our salesmen told us no cars are sold below invoice and that as Ford A plan, we would get straight invoice pricing $33789 Base price $180.00 Non negotiable document preparation $2038..14 State tax $36160.00 total 4K required down payment to get a 27 month lease for 388.00/mo. Sound good, or should I shop for a dealer to get me below invoice?
Your salesman is telling the truth. The dealer is required to sell the vehicle to you at the invoice price if you are using the Mazda S Plan or Ford A Plan. To get a deal below invoice price you will have to negotiate directly with the dealer without bringing in any corporate plan.
I've read the forums and am surprised with dealers selling below invoice. Does any one have tips on starting the negotiations? I'm looking to purchase, have a trade in, and can find financing on my own. Any ideas would be appreciated.
I think the key is to go in with the attitude that you would but the car today, but don't really care that much if it gets done today, tomorrow or next week. Once you are in that frame of mind, good things will happen.
We wanted the CX-9, after deciding the Acadia was just too much more money for the same thing. However, we wanted to buy before June, and any time was fine.
We went in and started at 3% under invoice (about $1200). Took a few hours, but in the end, thats what the deal was. But if it didn't work out, we would have left and honestly would not have been dissapointed. It's easy to SAY you will have that attitude, but much harder to do.
We live in San Jose, northern CA area. I used Edmunds TMV page, then sent off message for dealer quotes, and within 2 hours had 4 dealers competing. $1000 under invoice was readily available, but for the equipment we wanted, there was only one vehicle in the area, and that dealership wanted $500. under invoice. We combined 1.9% financing for 60 months, so we got the vehicle with no money down and pleasant payments, as it is spread out over 60 months. :shades:
We looked at the dealers with the lower prices, but to add the features missing, the auto dimming home link mirror and roof rack, it added $850 installation costs to the vehicle, so it actually was cost effective to get less under invoice but vehicle equipped from factory. I also prefer factory installation for wiring such as the mirror.
The edmunds page was a huge head start to negotiating. I did not expect this, and never used dealer quotes before, but was happily surprised by this edmunds service. Good luck with your purchase!
There is a local dealer offering $5,000 off MSRP of any in-stock GT CX-9 or $4,699 off MSRP of any in-stock Touring model. I have the offer in writing, but it still seems too good to be true. The one I'm looking at is a 2008 FWD Touring with Roof Rails (no other options), Black Cherry with Sand Leather.
MSRP $32,500 Invoice $30,071 Edmunds TMV: $31,160 Price with Discount $27,801 ($2,270 off invoice)
Is this too good to be true? Are they just going to tack on a bunch of fees at the dealership to get it back up to the invoice price?
Also, this dealership is a little bit out of my way. Should I try to get a dealership that's closer to my house to match this offer? Or is that just greedy?
Visited a dealer last night and here is the offer:
2008 CX-9 GT AWD Crystal White Pearl Mica Moon roof/Bose Audio Package GT Assistance Package
Other add ons:
Remote Start Wheel Locks Roof Rails Splash Guards Moon Roof Wind Deflector All Weather Floor Mats Sirius Radio Cargo Mat Cargo Net (Aftermarket) Dockable DVD/Game Boy Entertainment System mounted in ceiling. Blind Spot Monitoring Compass / Auto Dim Mirror
$39,168
Less my trade in + tax + transfer + tire tax + doc fees.
Less another 500 Auto Show rebate.
This is the managers demo so there are 2600 miles on it. Due to that, he coughed up the dealer holdback of $693 (already deducted from the 39,168)
What ever dealer you choose, make sure that you have a buyers agreement in writing signed by the SALES MANAGER. You can have an unsigned quote that is not binding.
It was the manager I was dealing with, yet I don't have a"signed agreement" I do have his handwriting and figures all over my paper with my bro-in-law as a witness.
Invoice is 38,261 less 693 dealer holdback (due to mileage). Then I am adding on Remote Starter (MSRP 595, my cost 400) & ceiling mount DVD/Nintendo (MSRP 1895, my cost 1500), so the total becomes 39468.
got this quote from local Mazda dealership for a basic GT FWD(MSRP $34365). this is the quote from them: "invoice less dealer cash less holdback is $29847. I will do this plus $150 = $29997 plus tt&l. To let you know, by using the dealer cash you would forgo the Mazda Credit incentivized apr of 1.9% for upto 60 months. " is it true??
I was dealing with the manager and I told him the deal was contingent upon the 1.9% APR. he did not mention that the Dealer Hold Back or rebates would be an issue.
So I've begun pitting one dealers' b/o against another's and it's already working to my advantage. I'm fortunate to have several Mazda dealers in the area where I live.
Dealer #2 looked at Dealer #1 (originally noted above in thread) and said they will beat by at least 200-500, plus their vehicle is brand new. I might even get a bit more on the trade-in.
I've now given both offers to Dealer #3 for comparrison and hopefully an even better offer will be forthcoming.
Are there ad market fees that we have to pay? Working out the price of a CX-9 with dealer, and he is throwing in $346 for a Chicago ad market fee. Thanks in advance... Wuk
Tell him no. Marketing fees are a cost of doing business. Personally I'd look for another dealer and tell them that from the get go. "Here's my price excluding Tax, Title and License. Don't jack me around or I'm gone."
In SF bay area, there is a $200, assessment fee as they call it. It is for marketing and ads. As a customer, you don't care. You just ask "how much under invoice?" "what other fee than TTL?" Then, you add up the quotes from all dealers and pick the lowest. I can't care less what name they call the fee. As long as the total is lower, it is good for me. If you got a trade-in, factor that in also. Since appraised values can differ quite a bit.
true..but this "marketing fee" isn't included on edmunds or any other site. When you think invoice is one amount, and that amount is artificially increased during negotiations, I can see people getting upset. If I get a dealer to agree to $1000 below what I think is invoice, I might be happy. But when $340 is tacked on for a marketing fee...I'm now $340 above what I was thinking I could pay. I'm just asking if anyone else had heard of this (other than in California, as they seem to get hit with this fee too).
We also had a $200. advertising fee tacked on our vehicle. Interestingly, they had other CX9s that didn't have that fee at the same dealership. Agree with ceric - you take the lowest offer in the Bay area. Our dealer invoice sheet was lower than edmunds calculator by 300, so it evens out, but still irritating, especially since the vehicle had just come in, and no advertising was done on it...
Just paid close to $1000 below invoice in Chicago area for an AWD Touring. Take delivery on Friday....very excited. Been eyeing it for a long time. And the 1.9% for 66 months is pretty sweet as well.
I don't know how you get the $40900 price since those options added up to around $40000 including destination. There could be some extra accessories. Anyway, the invoice is around $3000 off MSRP. So the price $37260 is near invoice. That is not a very good price as of now. People are getting $1000 off invoice in many places. Mid to large CUV/SUVs have a hard time selling. Deals can be found or negotiated.
Hi guys - I have been going back and forth between buying a CX-9 or an Odyssey, but my wife finally said "we simply aren't minivan people" and so now I am ready to pull the trigger. Woo hoo!
Before I start emailing dealers, I would like to cut to the chase if anyone already has been dealing with dealers dishing out offers for 1K under invoice. Any recommendations in MA?
Do not restrict yourself to just $1K under invoice, there's lots left for the dealer to bargain off of.
In Harford County, MD I recently (April, 2008) purchased an '08 awd GT for $5,600 below list, $250 document fees, and no additional fees of any type. The vehicle msrp was $40,540 with options like sunroof, bose, GT assist, remote start, a/w mats, splash guards, autodim/homelink, etc.. The vehicle had 4 miles on it.
If you do the math, that's more than $2K under invoice.
Also, watch Mazda when they present you with the factory invoice. There are actually two invoices, a true invoice, and the one the dealer likes to show you (the one with nearly $400 of dealer advertising factored in. To me, that is not true invoice. Under true invoice, the deal amounted to more like $2.5K under invoice.
Don't be afraid to tell them where you need to be "on the road", as long as the figure is realistic. Good luck!
Hoping for some advice here on how to approach the dealerships regarding leasing a CX-9. It seems most people initially just use the internet/email as their correspondence with the dealership. I was hoping to get a sample of what someone would send to the dealership to get the negotiations started.
I am looking for a GT FWD with the GT Assist and Moonroof package. I don’t want to put anything down except for the standard first months/security depot and I’m looking at a 27/36 month with 12k miles.
Would it be better to negotiate the monthly payment or just shoot directly for the vehicle price (or go for both at the same time)? Thanks ahead of time! I'm in the Houston area.

Your deal is looking good. (you need to subtract the fees from your bottom line, but still that is a great number)
How much is the rebate?
Good work!
I thought the price was too high...but was told by the internet sales rep that I would not be eligible for the 2.9% if she were to lower the price further.
I'll find out next week after a vist to the dealer.
Thank you for your help!!!
March was a slow month, did anyone close a deal?
07 CX-9 $0 under invoice. At invoice.
08 CX-9 $1487 under invoice. The new standard for this car is around $1K under invoice. Watch out for the extra fees!
Includes rebates (If there are any).
Paying extra fees (Doc Fee, etc...) are still having an impact on these deals.
Keep posting those good deals.
Good Luck!

do you think i can talk to the dealers and perhaps squeeze in a few free oil changes or perhaps get a refund for what they charged me for BSM...
