    I was under the impression that EV leases under $45,000 are exempt from Washington state sales tax (up to $15,000 of lease payments). However, the dealer mentioned that taxes are included in the lease cost.

    My Questions:

    Are there any additional taxes or local fees in King County, WA that would still apply to an EV lease despite the state exemption?
    Should I confirm with the dealer whether the sales tax exemption was properly applied to this lease?
    Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

    I'm trying to figure out how VW is coming up with this lease payment. The math with the current incentives doesn't seem to work. What am I missing:


    MSRP: $39735
    Cap Cost: $27436.49
    Cap Cost reduction of $151
    Residual: I assume 58% for 2 yr/20k so $23046.30

    Dealer is saying that the monthly pre-tax will be $149. Something is not working for me as I come up with a much higher monthly if I just plug in numbers to a lease calculator.

    The MSRP is $41,160 once you add in destination. That raises the residual, and lowers depreciation (and the payment)

    I posted this earlier, but here it is again.

    Here is the breakdown for the $149/ mo Standard trim lease:

    MSRP: $39735 + $1425 Destination = Total MSRP of $41,160

    $41,160
    - $5050 (dealer cash)
    - $7500 (lease incentive)
    - $151 (cash cap reduction, left over from the $999 down after paying first payment and acq fee)
    - $1,022.51 (dealer discount)
    = $27,436.49 (the cap cost in the ad fine print)

    This is a RV of 58% (24 months 10K a year) and a MF of 0.00001

    Using the above MF and RV that gives you a payment of exactly $149 a month.

    It looks like you aren't putting the correct numbers into the calculator if you aren't getting the correct payment. The math very much does make sense.     That sale price is the MSRP - the dealer cash, rebate and dealer discount, (the $151 is cap reduction is in the downpayment). Acq fee isn't factored in since it paid with the $999 due at signing. Payment is $149 exactly.

    Obviously no tax, title, dealer fees included, but the ad covers that.
