Pretty much done with covering the tops of the kitchen cabinets. Had to put a lot of bracing under the beadboard to make things even and makes the spans smaller.
Nice job!

Thankfully our garage is a little larger than the typical 20×20. I think it is about 24x24. A thorough purging and rearranging is on the list. I am able to park the Q5 and Arteon in the garage. Feel a bit guilty leaving the Passat outside. It got kicked out of the garage. #rude. A bit tight squeeze for my parking spot. Yes, that is the Halloween pumpkin.

Checked in our shed. Apparently it has been built so just waiting to hear from the delivery people to arrange a time. So hopefully this week. Will be nice to get all the junk out if the garage so I can reorganize. Might get one of those panel walls you can hang cabinets on.
I mowed last week again. will probably do it one more time. weird weather, since we have some days in the upper 60s, maybe 70s, but a few days already in the 20s overnight. So no clue if the lawn is still growing. and kind of surprised it is still looking ok since I stopped watering weeks ago, and we are in the middle of the massive drought. Hope it comes back in the spring!
A little while back I mentioned I liked to watch Adam The Woo's YouTube channel sometimes. This week has been entertaining as he decided to visit @xwesx up in Alaska, the only state he had never been to before. He has lived most of his adult life in warmer climes, so his worries about and reaction to being in actual snow are fun. He arrived in Anchorage a few days ago and the most recent videos are him taking a helicopter tour, driving to Seward, and then becoming anxious about driving in snow or ice which looked like a big overreaction to actual conditions, but I can't be too critical if he has zero experience with it. His first morning in Anchorage he was fascinated by a municipal worker with a snowblower using it to clear sidewalks, which I gather he had never witnessed before.
I do have to say that the warmest winters I ever endured were the ones I spent in Alaska.

He should do what we did as teens, head to the nearest empty snow covered parking lot and let fly. Best way to get the feel of driving in winter conditions and to learn braking/skid control.
We thought that we were just being rebels but instead we actually learned something no book could tell you.
I took my drivers ed in the middle of winter so I learned to drive in snowstorms.

Just finished mowing the lawn. Don't think it will be the last time.
Next time you head down I90, would you mind mowing mine? We normally don't mess with it once we leave at the end of September, but this year, even though we mowed it on 9/30 just before we left, it is starting to look a little unkempt in our cameras... which means it is really unkempt!
Thanks!

Got our first snow today. Not much and the sun eventually melted most of it.
I’d have to look, but I think we got about 20” from our storm. Mercifully, it ended about noon today and I got the driveway cleared.
According to one of our TV stations, we received 30" of snow in our little burgh from Tuesday to this morning. I can't tell you how long it's been since we've had a storm dump that much snow on us.
I hope it's not a harbinger of what the rest of winter will be like.
I wish I had the snow blower that @stickguy bought. Still snowing steadily here in Colorado. Lots of roads are closed to the east.
Wife and stepdaughter just left for the cooking studio. They have a class and three birthday parties scheduled today. Glad they have the Kia and not the MINI - more ground clearance.
I think I experienced PTSD when I saw that!😬😬
I’m getting snow tires put on the truck next week and I have brand new Cross Climates on the Kia which will insure that it never snows where I am. The only thing left to do is pay my plow guy for the season instead of each individual time he plows. That worked real good last year to keep the snow away.😄

It makes me glad to be in Florida. I arrived on Monday and the temperature has been in the high 80s all week and for next week, it is 8 to 10 degrees above normal. I feel for you man I think I'll head over to the pool (87F).
I hope to not need the blower again this year. Though at least now it will be readily accessible. Plus I have a lot more driveway acreage to clear (and less sun exposure to help)

I don't think I've got room in my garage for your king-sized snow blower. I will be looking at replacing my old, small electric blower this season with something a bit more sturdy.

3 nights in Charleston, SC, temp in the 70s. Not much to admire car-wise, saw a black Ferrari California, silver Jag F-Type, Porsche Panamera and Taycan. Nice city, but tbh, cities all look alike to me. I mean, the first few stores I noted were The Black Dog (Martha's Vineyard), Maine Sea Bag store and a Chico's. The horse drawn carriage tour was great, a lot of history here of course. But then we did the 2nd Sunday of the month pedestrian only King Street festival. A lot of local vendors, but the usual suspects as far as the "malling of America."

If you have a Puma outlet store nearby you should check out their selection of BMW Motorsport and Mercedes-AMG F1 gear- such as shirts, athletic shoes, and warm-ups at great prices. Yesterday I picked up some very nice warm-ups and shoes for the what I’d normally pay for just a pair of shoes.

We did a walking tour of Charleston, once, that was fantastic. Other than the 98F temperature
I saw a lot of high end vehicles in Charleston--not many exotics, but nearly every house seemed to have a Mercedes or Land Rover parked there. Of course, the houses I was walking by (on the peninsula) probably all cost north of $1M.
It's a really nice city with a lot of history. Reminds me of what New Orleans might be like if it had a huge influx of money.
Ohio DOT is using a robot dog to sniff out the weaknesses of the I471 bridge in Cincinnati to Newport KY after the fire on the Ohio side approach ramps a week ago damaged and closed it to traffic on Sbound side.
In video you see the melted steel support beams, you see the playground underneath the approach ramps that was the source of the fire, and you see the dog collecting data about the ramp and its structure now.
Who would have thought that putting a playground underneath the roadway with apparently shredded tire rubber to fuel a hot fire would be a good thing? Only in Cincy?
I believe Atlanta had plastic pipe stored under their interstate many years ago that was set on fire and damaged the roadway.
Man.. you can't believe what that's done to local traffic in Covington and Newport. Every time we cross the bridge North, we have to think about how we're getting home, and at what time..
From the comments by people in the area it would be faster from downtown to take Columbia Parkway east to Beechmont and cut down to I275 westbound back into the N KY cities.
It's only been a couple of years since the tanker fire on the NBound side of the I75/I71Ohio River bridge closed it. Trucks were trying to cross on the Roebling (blue bridge that looks like the Brooklyn bridge) and were clogging traffic in Covington.
Reminds me of the semi trucks trying to go over the Smokey Mountains from Cherokee NC to Gatlinburg on the mountain road. They had to park rangers at turnaround points to make the truckers to back. The closure of I40 in NC along the river caused that problem.
From the comments by people in the area it would be faster from downtown to take Columbia Parkway east to Beechmont and cut down to I275 westbound back into the N KY cities.
It depends.. Columbia Pkwy, now being the preferred route, is also a mess.
It’s helpful if you know your way around. The problem is the Ohioans who travel 471 generally have no idea about local travel patterns, and they’re all following the GPS, and gumming things up. If they got on Licking Pike in Newport (AA Highway), they’d have two southbound travel lanes with only three traffic lights for 4 miles, and could pick up 275 in Wilder. But they come across the Newport Bridge, and circle to go East by the Newport Levee, and that’s a big mistake. The ones that come across in Covington, they do the same thing. Instead of heading South to pickup I-275, they’re fighting their way East, to get back on 471 at the closest point.
Even when you know the best way around the mess, there are 100 dweebs all trying to go the wrong way. 🤷♂️
Need help from you car buying sleuths who might know a good deal. Not going to get into the weeds on this, but my older sister and I have been supporting our younger sister for a little while. Younger sister has made some questionable car purchases over the years.
