Don’t most cars have adaptive cruise now? Our Kia Sportage does!

depends on the car. Often requires a higher trim level. The year I bought my Maverick there was a tech package with it that I did not order. new ones, the Lariat comes standard with it.

My 2022 Maverick didn't come with cruise control, much less radar cruise. I added OEM (regular) cruise by disassembling the steering wheel, replacing the switches, and reprogramming the computer.

I finally came up with a good reason to start wheeling and dealing cars. My right knee hurt today!

When I drive a long time without a break I get a pain in my right knee. Eventually works itself out but I limp around a bit for a while until it gets better. But using cruise control can help so I can move my leg around instead of keeping it bent on the gas pedal. Unfortunately, on the roads I drive longer stretches on regular cruise is pretty much useless since I have to keep hovering over the brake pedal at all times.

so the answer is, get a car with fancy adaptive laser cruise. Hey, I'm old and comfort is important! The wife has creaky knees also so she is sympathetic to that issue. I just won't mention that the RDX has it. Will just point out how she often has issues with Apple CarPlay glitching on her.

That does seem like a reason to trade-in your Maverick, which lacks adaptive cruise control.

And if the CarPlay doesn't work well in the RDX that's potentially a reason to trade that one in as well.

Apparently, Dad's Ranger is still having transmission issues following the replacement of the valve body and other parts. He's basically issued a "final warning" and will take it to the dealer one last time before getting rid of it. The kicker--he wants another Ranger, which still has the same transmission.

I encouraged him to strongly look at the Tacoma, as well as considering the Colorado/Canyon.

Couldn’t he do a lemon law buyback?

I was at a friend's house last night and I had a chance to check out his Superformance 427 Cobra. It's the identical twin of this car. Gorgeous.

Those reproductions are worth a fortune, the originals are worth a real big fortune.

Hard to believe as it is built in Mexico and is a volume seller. I can only imagine a sad event should I need body parts for the Arteon. Won’t go there.

other than being silver with black stripes that is exactly what my BIL has. If that car doesn't scare you at some level, you are probably dead. Pretty sure he can break the rear tires loose in 4th gear without much effort. somehow 600ish HP in a 2200 pound car can be hard to control! and of course, zero nannies on it.

If I'm remembering correctly you live in an area that can get heavy snow in the winter. Just my 2 cents, but imho your wife should have an AWD vehicle for that. In other words, maybe don't sell that RDX. And you've probably already done this, but if it's having trouble with CarPlay consider replacing the cord.

@stickguy - I don’t know your stance on having an EV in your stable, but The Lexus RZ 450 has some nice looking numbers attached to it (they start with 2). You can take a 7,500 mile per year lease from Lexus. Lexus also gives you 30 days of rentals included in your lease so if you want, you can rent a gas powered (Lexus I assume).

All this talking about @stickguy & @corvette ’s Mavericks have me thinking about my next truck. I really do like the Maverick. The size, the available AWD with Hybrid, the cool styling, and the availability of trucks with not too many options that can keep the sticker price on the affordable side. I don’t know how they lease. I know that resale seems strong, but is that only because @stickguy has not a ton of miles on his? A Tacoma SR5 4WD will definitely have a higher MSRP, but they can be leased so cheap compared to their MSRP.

low miles always help. but they have held their resale very nicely. Honestly, I was tempted to upgrade to a new model year to get an AWD hybrid with 4K tow package. And if Sarah got her wish (which there is zero chance of happening) and they made one with a stick, I would bite! Leasing, I never actually considered it but I don't think they every leased all that well because most people paid sticker, and supply was short so Ford never needed to do lease incentives to get rid of them.

Benjamin, the wife does not need AWD. if there was actually snow on the ground, she would not be driving anyway! and I don't have trouble with connectivity so don't think there is a cord issue. most likely she does not give it enough time to get launched or is doing something wrong.

Bradd, we actually discussed EVs and that would be fine. I have to look up what an RZ450 even is but for a lease in the $200s, why not? Take the $26k or so Carvana keeps offering me and use the windfall on something else! we don't have a charger at home, but I did have a 220v outlet installed in the garage to plug one into (or maybe it was 221, whatever it took).

Took the Maverick to Patoka Lake and did a brief hike there. It was extremely hot and humid and I called it quits pretty quickly. It's a nice park, though, will definitely be back when the weather is more agreeable. I don't have a bike, but they also appeared to have a very nice paved bike/walking trail. On the way back, found a section of Corydon Pike with some nice, hilly hairpins. The OEM Continental tires were screaming for mercy, and I caught up to a motorcycle rider. Stopped at the Silver Hills Historical Trail in New Albany before making my way home.

Corner-carving in a Maverick pickup seems rather... ambitious. Must play hell with whatever's in the cargo bed. Next thing, you'll be telling us your trip average speed was at 80mph... B)

@nyccarguy - I don't think the Mavericks lease well. IMO, the good resale value @stickguy and I have enjoyed is largely because of the price increases on the new models. A three year old one for a few grand less than its MSRP becomes a lot more compelling when the MSRP on a new one has gone up almost $10k.

    Concur.

Ford leases are not all that great, for any model. I think they are trying to claw back that "employee pricing for everyone" with higher interest rates for both finance and lease.

Yep, just looked it up - Maverick is using the standard APR for leases. We don't have the exact numbers, but we tell folks who ask that it's very high, likely in the 8-10% range.

Besides the gargantuan size, I have a problem with these $60K + MSRP EVs. In CT we pay property tax yearly on a sliding scale based on a vehicle’s MSRP. Year 1 is the town’s mill rate based on 85% of a vehicle’s original MSRP. It goes down 5% every year. On a $60K + MSRP vehicle that comes to over $900 for the 1st year. Figure at $30 per thousand, over the course of a 3 year lease it would equate to an extra $90 per month.
