I think the Outback and ADX are competing in different markets to different buyers. For instance, my daughter that just got a CX 50 to replace a CX 30 had no interest in an Outback. Before the RDX #2 wife and I looked at an Outback. I liked it (and could get a great VIP deal since a friend was an exec at Subaru corporate) but the wife nixed it because she did not want a "station wagon" again.

actually, there was one functional deal breaker for both of us. It was the first year of a redesign/refresh (not sure which) and the auto stop start was very abrupt and annoying. the deal breaker being that they hid the off selection for that about 3 touch menu screens deep, and it reset every time you started up. That was a big pain. I believe the next year they moved it to the hone screen to make it easier to turn off.

We looked at a Panamera years ago, it was Gee’s dream car. Unfortunately, he couldn’t even sit in it, much less drive it. Beautiful cars though.

Why couldn’t he sit in it? Not dressed well enough? Ha.

Talked to … honestly no idea. I guess an internet person. We chatted for a while. He said he’d have the SM assign a salesperson who would call me and do a video walk around. Of course, being Friday afternoon, he wasn’t sure WHEN. So we’ll see. Honestly I am pretty anxious for this one since a Panamera has been a dream of mine since they first came out. It is tough to find a 4S with low enough miles in my price range.

Ha… he rarely deviates form his uniform of seasonally appropriate athletic gear. However, in this case, he is 6’6 and most of that height is in his legs. His knees were uncomfortably high and I believe the drivers door crushed them against the steering wheel.

In a Panamera? Sounds like the seat was broken. I’m convinced a 7-footer could fit fine in one.

I drove one a few years back and I had plenty of room.

So a friend who works at a local VW dealer has a leftover ‘24 GTI SE 380 in moonstone gray, 6spd. Equipped my way - plaid seats but with upgraded stereo. Big discounts to take it.

Good thing I’m flipped in my Subaru lease or I might have been tempted!

if it wasn't on the wrong coast it could make me do something too! Especially if it has a moonroof. I have no clue what a SE 380 comes with.

SE has a moonroof. Not sure about the current model, but the only thing I miss on my SE is auto temperature control.

Acura is going to have the ADX, which is an HR-V with a turbo and 190 hp. But, with a big bump in price, I'd expect

Looking at reviews and specs for the ADX I'm not impressed. The starting price with AWD and destination for the ADX is $38,350. Having lived with the ADX powertrain of Honda's 1.5 turbo/cvt with our CR-V, I can say that it's noisy and unrefined, which is what some reviewers are saying about the ADX. The rear doors in the ADX have hard plastics and no pocket behind the driver's seat. With the rear seats down cargo room in the ADX is only 55 cubic feet. The Subaru Outback premium with option package 15 lists for about $36k, and it has 75 feet of cargo room, power tailgate, fog lights, puddle lights for the front doors, padded rear doors rather than hard plastic, a better AWD system, etc. The Outback seems like a better vehicle for less money.

And I'm disappointed that starting with the ADX Acura is now phasing out Sirius/XM on all of its vehicles.
It appears Acura has given the well regarded ELS audio a divorce as well. Bang & O is the upgraded system now. No Sirius/XM is a bummer. I like having stations programmed to the presets on the vehicle head unit and not have to stream it from my phone.

Now wait. My Suzuki literally has a clown horn. I imagine I’ve shared before that I installed a horn that makes the noise of a clown’s horn, or like a horn you might have on a tricycle.

I reserved a place in line for a Scout Traveler. Feels weird considering it's not supposed to enter production until 2027 (so will probably be a 2028 model), and I'll probably have at least a couple of other cars between now and then. I also suspect a well equipped model will be well north of the $60k (without incentives) base price, which will probably cause me to lose interest and ask for a refund of my deposit.

    Excellent!

I actually reserved a spot for both the traveler and terra. I cannot make up my mind. But, to me, 2027 seems like it is bearing down on us. I doubt I'll have anything different before then. Except maybe my truck. I am growing less and less content with that purchase (but not because of the vehicle).

In either form, I will be opting for the range extender version, as that will be a perfect fit for my use case. I'm not looking forward to the cost, but otherwise am quite excited about it.

@xwesx - I went with the range extender, as well. Sounds better for road trips. I wonder whether they only asked to gauge interest, and people will be able to change their reservations from one to the other at a later date?

I believe that is the case. I think it will assist with prioritization of the chassis, as that is the only major difference between the two models. When you do the reservation plays into your place in line, but if you chose, say, Terra w/ electric only, and you stick with that, it may end up being the last run they do. IIRC, the plan is to have two separate assembly lines, but I imagine only one to begin, and I don't know how they will split the lines (e.g., Traveler vs. Terra, electric vs. electric w/ generator). I have tried to keep up with their updates, but I haven't seen anything that gets down into the weeds yet.

I’ve become intrigued by the Lyriq after sitting in one. Might just be a fun mental exercise at this point, but I’ll at least go take a drive for comparison’s sake. It very much has a wagon look to it, which I like, but still not sure about the rear c-pillar treatment.

A few pics of what I looked at today…surprised at how many six-figure EVs they have on the lot!

Man; that's a boring selection of cars if I've ever seen one! Nearly all black or white, and the only one that wasn't.... was grey. Nice. :/

I like the spaciousness of the Lyriq interior. It’s just a tad larger on the outside than my Q8, but much roomier on the inside.

The Escalade IQ and Hummers? Just strikes me as a bad time to have so many high end EVs on the lot. I don’t need the space and definitely don’t need the off-road chops of the Hummer, but if lease deals got crazy…😀

Leno's video was the most nuts-and-bolts I've seen. Interesting that they're using a naturally aspirated VW inline 4--IIRC, VW doesn't currently have a larger displacement one that isn't boosted.

Day 2 - after driving the car yesterday and putting it back in the garage, I attempted to start it up and drive it again. Click click click…. So I pull out the jumper cables and gave it a boost. Fired up right away. I drove the car for a solid 20-25 minutes. Varying speeds. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Do you have a battery maintainer on it? If no, GET ONE! Since you use the car so little, Just mount it permanently in the engine bay so you can quickly plug it in from the lower air dam out front. Once you start keeping it plugged in during periods of disuse, you won't have battery issues anymore.

How old is the battery? With few exceptions, I tend to get about 3 years out of a battery regardless of a longer warranty.

If the Prelude is parked outside, I know Battery Tender makes a weather-resistant battery maintainer, although @xwesx 's suggestion of a permanently mounted one would also fit the bill. With either, I'd be worried about forgetting it's connected and driving off. When I put a maintainer on my Maverick, I have to leave the hood up for the wiring, which is a great visual cue to let you know a task needs to be completed before departure.

BTW, the Ariya (and I assume most other EVs/PHEVs--I think the Volt was the same way) won't let you take off with the EVSE connected.

It was used, it’s been a while, it was a 2011 or so. It’s possible the seat was broken. It’s also possible the design itself was the problem, not the legroom. He will find a car with plenty of legroom in theory, but the dash curves and pushes into his legs. He is borderline in the Si and the Panamera has less legroom that it does. He wears a 38” inseam minimum for reference.

That’s the Caddy version of the Blazer. It looks more like a wagon than the Blazer does. I can attest to the roominess. 5 adults can ride in it in perfect comfort. Lots of room for car seats too. The funny thing is, it doesn’t drive or handle like a big car. I don’t find driving it to be any different from the Sportage, which is a compact SUV and narrower and shorter.

    Panamera is out.
Salesman started texting me this morning and I wasn't getting a good vibe. He sent a video but only did one sweep of the outside and made sure to say "I want to stress this is as-is." Well, yeah, it is a 2011, so I had no doubt, but to stress it gave me pause. Like... you have a reason you are saying that. So I started asking questions. He wrote something like he was on a test drive with a customer yesterday in it and it drove really well. So I asked why the person didn't buy it. He then comes back with "well, like I said, it is as-is, and the AC on the driver's side is blowing warm. But it might just need a recharge." Sooooo... thanks for that, I'm going to pass. I didn't want to bog him down with details, but if it blows warm on just one side, that's not a recharge situation, not that I would ever assume that is the case. I always assume nonworking AC is going to cost at least $1k, and the car isn't priced well enough for that.

Weird. Wonder if you can get an external smart charger. I'm surprised it isn't built that way to begin with.

I need to ask the golf cart guy I bought it from.

I drove it about 5 miles around the island yesterday to stretch its legs a bit. It only went up the block since December. It felt a little sluggish and batteries went down to 67%. It was chilly and I had four of us on it with the windshield up and a headwind so it had everything against it. Still maintained 27 MPH. Not bad for a cart.

I got a golf-cart sized vehicle with your name on it.
No charging, fully enclosed, heat and AC. Can't beat it. :)

I would never buy a 15 YO car, or an exotic like a
Porsche, with seeing and touching it in person first. Then Paying for a marque expert PPI. I’m a chicken.

I take it that it’s still available, so what’s your best price. Remember, he’s a poster buddy and pays taxes in the same state where you are. :|
