We could see the Q&A, but none of our Q's were acknowledged by the moderator. I asked specifically if the moderator could see us and never got a response.

Heh. I guess all the Mid-Atlantic typers are out today enjoying the weather. So.......who washed thier car today?

Me! (and washed the sills, Low Gloss Armorall interior, windows, vacuum) Waxed 4 weeks ago, so that should keep for the winter.

Packing up for our move. Looking for a home for my donut spare and package tray (in spare tire well) from my 01 GT wagon. Anyone in the SF bay area that would like them please let me know... they are free if you come and pick them up. I have a full size spare and have no use for them. I live in Burlingame.

Geez- I guess I've been been absent too long. OCD is now an offical club? I suppose then I might qualify as a founding member.

I also have a complete plastic wood dash (not the door switch trim) from my 01 GT. Know someone with an L that would like wood? I swapped mine for black L trim a while back (didn't care for the plood) and don't need it. It's free for postage or you can pick it up if you live in the SF bay area. At most a 1 hour job to install. Most of which is spent getting up the nerve to rip your dash apart. But in reality it is pretty simple.

Just got a copy of Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" issue. While the WRX didn't win, it picked up quite a few good comments. (Though I noticed they compared it more than once to the Protege MP3, not always wholly in the WRX's favor.) And, hey, does anybody else find the Motor Trend Web site pretty much unusable? Wonder if that site just doesn't like Netscape, or doesn't like Macs, or just plain flat doesn't like me ...

yes Bit, you missed the certificate (or whatever it was). 1subydown can probably trot it out one more time...

Boy, am I ever feeling smug, Finally got around to reading the auto section of last weekends newspaper.

In it this journalist is expounding about some of the latest innovations from some upmarket car makers as the things you must have, such as heated seats,(got that) heated mirrors, got them also, wiper defroster, yep got that too, and the last thing an automatic interior mirror, by God am I on a roll I got that too.

To the best of my knowledge most if not all Subes sold in Canada have the cold weather package standard.

    Cheers Pat.

a snip from the press release:

"Under the umbrella title NASCAR TV, the 3 p.m.-midnight block will kick off Feb. 11, the date that Fox Sports officially relaunches Speedvision with a new name, the Speed Channel. "

That's right all you rednecks out there... Now from 3pm to midnight you can watch NASCAR every day! Yippie, I need som mo moonshine. :)

Where do I go for WRC coverage - the year-in-review videos from ewacars.com? What about open-wheel, 2-wheel, SCCA, LeMans et al.?

Fox's NASCAR coverage isn't even that good; this will make it better?

    Ed
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Is there a web link to that press release?

    Bob
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Basically you'll get your WRC and other stuff in the non 3-midnight hours.

  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
sounds fishy to me... I can't see this channel ignoring the sports car crowd, motorcycle crowd, the aviation and nautical crowds, no matter how large the NASCAR audience. I just can't see it.

I'd like to see something more official than just an e-mail. Do you know the source of this e-mail?

    Bob
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
regarding the increased NASCAR coverage. Nowhere does it state that it will be all NASCAR, everyday till midnight. It also states that all major areas will continue to be covered. It sounds like marine and aviation viewers will be affected most. They mentioned "increased coverage" of the the World Rally, which should please everyone here.

still have weekends to enjoy "our" events. I know my wife will be happy, since I won't be watching it as much.

  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Ed - I hope we won't have to rely solely on those year in review videos. Aren't they $30 for only 2 hours of coverage? BTW, did you realize you were only about 25 miles or so from EWA's store when you were in Flemington?
    Dennis
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
has temporarily taken their Message Boards off line, because of recent "misuse." Think there are some unhappy campers over there?

Oh well, weekends are fine. I'll just watch less football, etc., in order to get my car racing "fix," which is fine by me.

The channel will not be all nascar .

Yes, Dennis, Green Brook isn't far from Flemington. I have clients in the Somerville area and I have shot over to EWA a couple times during lunch breaks and after meetings. Bought newsstand copies of RallyXS magazine and two WRC diecasts (Burns/Reid, Australia '99; Kankkunen/Repo, Finland '99) for display in my office (though they're actually in my home office right now). I think the videos were $28 and approximately 2 hours, yes. Having seen the Speedvision coverage the narration and graphics are the same.

    A good news/bad news post:

The good: Survived the double birthday weekend,

The bad: As soon as I put the snows on, it all melted. Nothing but rain since.

    Murphy strikes again.

    Cheers!

You put snows on? It was 65F yesterday, I thought the motorcycle was done for the year but not quite yet...it was absolutely gorgeous. I remember indian summers and mild winters before, but I can never remember 65 degrees in December.

    -Colin
  • hammersleyhammersley Member Posts: 684
Well, we had 5-6 inches of snow fall here in one day, and I thought sure winter was here. Snow is falling everywhere around us, but here in the valley, it's just wet. Can't quite get the freezing level down low enough to make it stick! It's icy enough at night to justify the tires though... but it's a bit frustrating!

I guess we're not alone - Buffalo NY had the first snow-free November in umpteen years.

    Cheers!

A week in Disney and 82 degree weather did wonders. Drove it in 17.5 hrs from NY to Orlando (Stopped overnight). The Sienna was flawless and of course I vacuumed it as soon as we got home. I was counting Subies in Florida (wife thinks I'm nuts). 4....that's it....4! One Forester, one OB, and two Imprezas. Two with Florida plates, the others were from up North. Now if only the weather would improve here, like the temperature dropping 30 degrees and some white stuff shows up. BTW, while in Disney we went to Mickey's Magical Christmas Party. They had "snow" making machines on the roofs of the buildings down Mainstreet and it was snowing! I started to cry thinking about the OB at home by himself (herself?). Hope all had a great holiday. Good to hear from you Don, still praying for Marianne.

here in Vancouver. It's starting to *snow* - a bit of white rain really. Just 2 degrees above. There is a slight chance of a fun drive in the morning. For me it's all up hill in the way to work, so I hope it sticks. :-)

Juice: Saw you over on the Honda Odyssey board the other day. Are you abandoning your flock? ;-) I am thinking of adding one to my stable as the Windstar lease expires in March. Time to get on the wait list.

If you are still perusing the boards I just had a thought that if you still have your wood dash kit you may want to hold on to it.

If you ever decide to sell the car in the future a lot of people may not share your passion for the plain plastic look in what is essentially the top of the line Legacy.

    Cheers Pat.

Was a bit of a let-down. Less than an inch, more ice than snow really. Not enough to make life interesting for Rufus although walking in the parking lot was an adventure. Wish I had 4-leg drive. :-)

We drove on Thanksgiving day and there was no traffic. Kept it at 75mph most of the way. In Florida it dropped to 65-70 due to traffic near Jacksonville and Orlando. On the way back, we drove Sat and Sun, so again no real traffic. The NJ Turnpike on Sunday was crowded, but, was able to keep the speed between 70 and 75. My kids are 4, 8 and 10. The VCR/TV is a definite must have and we drove partially at night (til 2AM) so they were asleep for part of the ride. They were great though, no real complaining, didn't need to strap any of them in the cargo carrier either. ;-) Do 10 to 12 hours the first day and the rest the second day and it works out great. Of course, you need to factor in the time of the year we went. Crowds at Disney were low too and weather was perfect. Now I am ready for snow!

We drove down a few years ago to FLL. Nice trip, took us just under 24hrs from NYC, mostly did between 70-90mph the whole way down.

Sorry I've been quiet, got a nice cut on my left hand on Sunday. My hand slipped and snagged on a fence post while building a compost pile fence, 9 stitches and a tetanus booster later I'm fine. Typing with one hand stinks!

Perhaps it was a sign from above for being in the Odyssey boards? ;-) Not sure if I can wait for a 2005 Subaru SUW, and the fact that it'll get a GM Epsilon leaves me a bit cold. Maybe a 2004 Forester turbo will be big enough, because...

    the wife is pregnant.

    Congrats (hopefully) Juice!

Now you just need a little mario to take over the reins when you can't drive anymore! haaa

Sure I can't interest you in a nice trooper? :) wink wink nudge nudge.

Why else would you be looking at minivans?! ;-)

Legacy Blitzen can't come fast enough for you. Hmmm...my crystal ball sees an H6 VDC in your future...

Can't you put some pressure on SOJ & SOA to squeeze out that larger Subie/GM "Super Sport Utility Wagon" within the next 9 months. We don't want to lose Juice to Honda or Mazda...

congrats to you and your wife...may it go smoothly and safely.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It was planned and wanted, no surprise. It is a very different pregnancy so far, so I think it's a boy, David Michael Teixeira perhaps? Wifey would kill me though! ;-)

Late July we think. By then I can see the new Forester. If I like it, we'll wait a year for the turbo and pack light.

If not, dunno. H6 sedan is the current Subie front-runner, but she wants something bigger that does not look like a wagon or van.

    We'll see.

Aww, that's cool. Folks, we need to get this boy a B4 quick! You know, to keep him from being wooed by the darned warner bros. editions or whatever.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
That's my son's name. Yikes, another Dave!

    Bob
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
2 will probably be it for us, so perhaps a van is overkill.

Bob - that was the whole point of the name! :-)

I'll try to sneak a David as a middle name, or a "K" in the name if it's a girl. I gotta be sneaky about it, though.
