I've seen you drive - you don't need A/C, just open the windows for a blizzard of air! ;-)
Did you borrow that trailer in the photo?
I'm expanding my back yard play area, so I'll be trailer shopping again in the spring. I'll probably need about 9 yards of wood chips per year, at least, and that's a good 3 loads, big ones.
Alternately, I'll just have it delivered. It may be cheaper that way, since I'd only need it once a year. Plus they can deliver 9 yards in one load, easy.

Works as long as it's not rusted all the way through the metal. The badges ought to be easy.
Sounds like a fun project, enjoy it.

Recommendation for Juice. Go the home delivery route. It is a lot less hassle and you can persuade your family members to come around and help shift the mountain of wood chips off the drive. This is a good excuse for a social event and only costs you a case of beer.
The kids will love skiing the slopes of Mount Woodchip and you will acquire a tasteful woodchip flecked carpet where they traipse the bits through the house.
In addition, you can check out the Forester's AWD getting over the mountain of chips in the driveway and persuade your wife of the need for a Forester for her as well.
Cheers
Graham
That's probably what I'll do. The place that sells the stuff is a good 20 minutes away (each way), and I'd need at least 3 trips.

If you want to see the opposite, take a look at the last few days of posts on the Honda Odyssey Problems board. A true cat fight. Seems there are a group of Honda and Dodge/Chrysler minivan owners who get their kicks 'dive bombing' each others sites. It really came to blows a few days ago. Someone from Edmunds needs to step in and wipe out a half dozen pages of garbage. Really sad....
Steve
We're lucky - only a few trolls have made their way here, and they don't stay for long.
I think the DCX fans have been getting an earful from some Honda owners for decades, so a merely "average" Odyssey (in terms of reliability) is about the best target they have. You also have a best-seller vs. best-in-class rivalry going on there.

Having Patti pop in from time to time and help people with problems is not only icing on the cake but also lends a certain 'credibility' to the proceedings.
Thanks to all of you!

Although I must admit, the iClub cannot be matched when it comes to looking for specific knowledge. Full text searching and a whole lot of discussions does that...

In fact, AN published data from a survey, and they found Edmunds.com was the "Most Useful" web site among all the automotive sites. No doubt due to the Town Hall.

I'm thinking about a lease for tax purposes with the option to buy. Otherwise, I'm happy with the GT. Anyone test driven any of these vehicles and have comparisons to the GT?

Have fun test driving and gives us updates,

I love it, LOL. I feel the same way as many have expressed. I retired as a certifiable car nut about 1979 when my son was born. Despite this, I read these boards every day I can simply because:
1. I love my Forester.
2. I am interested in Subaru.
3. I really enjoy the fun, supportive and knowledgeable posts that are the rule rather than the exception here.
Ross
For a time I was considering trading my '95 Buick Riviera for a luxury sedan, the Lincoln LS being one. I followed their board for a few weeks (hard to believe that there we so many unhappy LS people) and that together with the information on the Subaru Boards was enough to convince me that I would be much better of with another Subaru (Forester)...which was delivered last week.

* higher price
* premium fuel required
* less fuel efficiency
;-)
I drove the older A4 2.8 at the Mercedes Power Trip, but not the new ones. It didn't really stand out to me, I hardly remember it. The engine was peaky, and needed to rev, but it's been replaced with a better 3.0l engine. The 1.8T I tried in a Passat was more fun, but it too requires premium. They are smaller and likely less reliable than your Legacy.
Pros? Looks like a Baby A6, cachet, easy to chip 1.8T, Quattro option, free maintenance, fits in at the country club.
I've driven a Volvo XC, and was totally disappointed. The ride is floaty as a Buick, pass the dramamine. I bet the regular V70 is better, but until this year AWD was not offered. Price is high, pillars block your view, and too many different colors on the interior IMO. Reliability is poor, read up on the threads here, and check CR.
Pros include perceived safety, luxury status, excellent brakes, styling (S60), cargo capacity (V70), passenger space.
Hard to say bad things about the 5 series. Drove a couple at the BMW Ultimate Driving event. They are pricey and AWD will push the price to nose bleed levels, but if you can afford it I would not stop you. Subaru has better reliability, and the 5 series sedan is still only a compact. Recalls have plagued some newer Bimmers, including possible engine fires.
Pros include acceleration, smooth engine, ride, handling, interior, quality of materials, style, cachet, free maintenance.
Among the 3, I'd probably pick, in order, the BMW, then the Audi, then the Volvo last, with big gaps between each one.
But consider the VDC or the LL Bean wagon. I prefer even my dad's H4 Outback Limited over the Volvo XC, so I'm sure an H6 with the features in the VDC would equal or even beat the Audi, and for much less.

and (maybe) a little snow is coming our way this weekend and early next week. Brooke can have a white Christmas - her very first one!

Must be the holidays that's got everyone in such a sentimental mood. I'll have to drop in over on the "I hate SUVs" board to reaffirm that humans are naturally mean and vindictive :-)

I must keep Christmas from coming... but how?
There's a nice, well rounded mix of people here. Plus, I met a distant cousin I never knew (lark6).

You guys want to hear something warm and fuzzy? Remember Gloria, who came here to ask for advice on her next car? Well, she ended up buying a Maxima, but it was a real treat to read her post on a thread about Favorite Topic. She paid us the highest complement. Note that everyone else was claiming their topic was best - she was the only one I recall that gave the nod to a type of car she didn't own.
BG: what you want is the Blitzen. We should get something like that for 2004 or 2005, and I can't wait. Is a WRX STi too small for you? It's about the same size as an A4.
ROTFL, Frank!
It's been getting really cold, so the Miata's been parked for a while now. I realize the things I love about my Subie: comfort, space, warmth, quietness, smoothness, higher vantage point, and low-end torque.

Been getting comments on the GT lately; I think those 16x7 RS rims help, as the extra width adds just a little more beef to the look of the car from 3/4 and front/back. Folks at emissions wanted to know if it was a turbo
I wish PHAT meant pretty, hot, affordable, & turocharged!

I just purchased a set of "winter wheels" (Blizzak package) from TireRack (see Outback board if you'd like a report) and I'm now trying to locate a set of Subaru center caps for them. The wheels themselves are steel, painted nicely in metaliic silver, and the invoice implies they are genuine Subaru wheels (although that may be just my take on it). Anyway, the wheels look pretty nice as is, almost "styled", and so I'm disinclined to put wheel covers over them. However, the hubs are at present fully exposed so I'm looking for center caps (I could take them off my wife's Forester, but she'd have to notice sooner or later). Any suggestions on sources other than my local full-retail-or-higher Subaru dealer?
Thanks in advance,
YetAnotherDave
