how's the pain now? my brother-in-law just had surgery for a hernia but it was apparently pretty minor as he was up & around less than 48 hours later. he says it itches a bit, but doesn't hurt. hopefully yours is moderate like that too.

juice - someone took pics, but I don't think he posted them yet.

"Bend It" is neither cheezy nor chick-flicky. It's a fun British film that deals with traditional gender roles in England and within immigrant Indian Sikh households. You have to like brit film though. And not just the ones directed by Guy Ritchie! Bend it reminded me of East is East (another good one). I suppose it would be twice as good for soccer playing teens, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit.
Sorry I missed the chat, but I had a better offer - my daughter & I took a little field trip to Seattle... Mariners game, Motel 6, and Burger King breakfast with my favorite 6 year old! Twoof the best days of the whole summer!
25.8 mpg @ a steady 75-80mph, and turned 90K on the way home.
Cheers!

Watching 21 Grams right now and it is depressing me, so I took a break to sweep the boards (Edmunds/Nabisco/SubaruForester/CycleForums)

I am getting into road cycling though, saving up for my new bike. All thoughts of STi suspensions (not autocrossing anymore) AccessPorts (don't really need it on the XT) downpipes (hassle to install) and catbacks (no appreciable gains unless turbo back) have all gone out the window as I lust after my dream bike. Getting it now, because I won't be in a position to spend like this again for a looooooong time.
I was able to get the paint splatters off the painted surfaces and glass, but the damn paint seemed to form an instant molecular bond with the black plastic trim below the window and I was afraid of blemishing the plastic by trying to scrub the paint off. SO I have 10-15 teeny drops of gold paint on the black trim. Looks suspiciously like overspray, which will make for entertaining conversation when I try to sell or trade the car in the future. I feel lucky it was not worse in the end -- as it is, it's kind of humorous to look at and not that noticeable.
Anyhow, I got my first bonehead move out of the way. This should keep the car unmolested for another couple months until my magic touch strikes again!
By the way, the chip repair on the spoiler came out great after I finished banging myself in the forehead....
Hopefully I can get a coat of Klasse sealant on tomorrow AM before going kayaking in the afternoon.
Craig
I'd try a little clay bar on that "overspray." Claybar has never affected my plastic trim in the past, so I'm pretty sure you would have no trouble with yours. Just be sure to use plenty of detail mist for lubrication.

Sorry to hear about the touchup paint mishap. Since touch up paint is laquer based and your factory paint is urethane based, you should be able to wipe off most of it using the proper thinner without any harm. The plastic trim might require some caution since I'm not sure how the thinner would interact with it. You might even try the Mothers/Langka paint chip repair kit. It uses a laquer-based compound that blends away touchup paint.
If a claybar doesn't work, perhaps you could try some dry ice and see if the relative thermal contraction rates of the trim and paint would cause it to flake off.
Ken
Take it easy, I speak here from rough experience, I have had 3 repaired on the right side and two on the left for a total of 5 in my lifetime.
Cheers Pat.
Bend it Like Beckham is the perfect movie to see with a daughter. Kind of an underdog story. Sad timing, though, it came out just when the US Women's Soccer League was cancelled. :-(
OTOH maybe Olympic Gold for the US women may help revive the idea?
Cool thing about a bike? You can truly go flat-out in many circumstances. Set up a course and time your laps, measure your top speed, etc.
Even better is my 2 year old with me going "mais", as in "more", and giggling the whole way.
Not both at the same time, BTW.
You can start riding with kids when they are about 18 months, and can hold their neck up nicely (providing the helmet fits).
So here's hoping you have a healthy baby with a big head. LOL

As for the bicycle, the frame is now complete and is awaiting paint. It is slated to ship to Baltimore 9/10, although I'm hoping it is a little sooner. I have sprung for Campagnolo Centaur 20sp for it.
You will *love* having a daughter, mine looks up to me, it's so sweet. Just dropped her off for her first day of Kindergarden, actually, and I remember the day of her birth like it was yesterday.
I'm 10/17, but that'll be too late, I wouldn't wish that date on Q. My daughter was one day early, so my guess for the baby pool is 9/30. :-)

My father-in-law worked for DuPont as a Chemist until he retired and he has 6 patents on the powder-coating process he came up with while he worked there.
Every Harley-Davidson motorcycle is painted using the process he invented. Cool, eh?

Gayle is the light of my life, particularly since she was our 'bonus baby' - only 17 months after our 2d son was born, but she wasn't supposed to be possible.
In the true tradition of the Subaru Crew, make sure she learns how to drive a stick!
I'm going out on a limb here... my pool date is her due date. 7 lbs. 4 oz.
Cheers!
Paul
If Q complains that's too big, just be glad I didn't go with my son's weight of 9-5! ;-)

She had planned going to college to graduate as a nurse but because she has difficulty seeing to read that is out the window.
She is a strong girl and I am sure that eventually she will find her niche.
Actually she just called this minute to say she has to have a scan done Tomorrow she has had 3 seizures since Saturday and that is cause for concern, on her medication she usually only has a seizure about every six to eight weeks.
Cheers Pat.
Brooke was 9-11 for weight.
Pat, keep us updated if you can on her progress. I hope it's just a little blip that can be corrected with a medication adjustment and nothing more serious.
-Brian
Loosh: get better!
Steve
Now I'm really sticking to my pool predictions, 8 lbs 4 oz and 1 day before the due date!

A girl! Fantastic. Okay, I'm going with 7lbs, 11 oz., 21" long! I guess you can now officially refer to your daughter when you keep us in the loop.

they also make it very difficult to delete anything, since indexing it drives their ads.
thanks to their search/indexing technology, imagine how many people will have access to your email, with a retention policy that you really can't control (try deleting some gmail-- administrative pain in the [non-permissible content removed] per message), and how readily the government and large corporations will be able to subpeona and search your personal data because of that.
no ISP has infinite retention on your email. in fact, many of them have non-existent retention once the message is fetched from the server.
now I'm not normally one to further conspiracy theories, but to me there's no conspiracy as this is a legitimately bad design for the consumer. Google has everything to gain, and your free 1 GB email isn't quite "free" and it's no longer just "yours". gmail is just a service that I don't want to use, nor do I feel comfortable sending messages to people using it.
~Colin
Colin - I can see your point, but I guess I don't have some of the same opinions you do. You're right that 'delete' could certainly be in a better place -- and I pretty much agree as to your reasoning of why -- but I don't see deleting email as being 'difficult'. Heck, you want difficult? You oughta try some of the software I have to work with! :-) As far as searching your data? The gov't could subpoena and search anyone's PC.
I mainly use gmail as my address to receive auto, photo, and rc airplane news and info. Also to store/transfer files (up to 10MB per email). I have my own servers and domain for real personal email. I was just putting it out there for anyone who might be interested -- to each, his or her own, I guess. It's probably a good thing for people to see the possible downsides of using gmail, so thanks for your post.
BTW, if you want to see some desparate people, check out gmailswap.com for what some people will do for a gmail account. Pretty funny.

It has to offer something like that to be useful to me.

The bubble moves fast... craigslist is gonna be eBay toast before it even gets to Boise (we're on the list).
Steve, Host
of course they can and do, and many large corporations do as well --but let's not get on a RIAA rant here.
the value of them bothering to subpoena information has a lot to do with how easily they can get that information. the easier it is to get, the more likely that they would do it.
what sounds like an easier way to do a content search for 1 million mail users to you?
A) search gmail's pre-existing indexes
hmmmmmm
~c
And it's not even out of beta! :-) That's why you have to be invited by a current user (or at least that's what they say...).
juice - Sadly no hosting of pictures or anything like that. So may not be useful to you as is.

A) search gmail's pre-existing indexes
Point taken. That's why I don't post any of my por..., Doh!, personal items on gmail. :-)

Dan - sorry about the back. Been there, and it does work out eventually. Hang in there!
See you all next week! Have a safe Labor Day everyone. Please make sure you wear your seatbelts. While I know you all are the best drivers on earth and our cars are the best, you can't count on the other drivers! I worry, you know?
