Glad to hear Beth is home, and that Father's Day went well. Nice gift
Mark
Got a flat tire on the drive back from the beach - and had to ride on the spare for about 120 miles! I'm sure glad I didn't have a donut, even though it's not a perfect match for my aftermarket tires it worked just fine the whole way.
Puncture looks like a big nail, not sure if it can be patched, we'll see. Tires have 55k miles on them so I may get new ones even though there is plenty of tread left.

Glad the full (OEM) sized worked well. Did you worry about the circumference difference?
Time to get new tires! 55K is a long way to go.
Ken
I'll probably get one of those tread guages and measure to see how much is left and if they're worn evenly. If either of those or the hole itself is a problem, they're history.
Lemme think - 73k - 28k is actually 45k, got a little ahead of myself there.
The irony is that if we had a new Tribeca we would have been stranded and had to call for roadside assistance. No way could that donut have gone 120 miles.
I carry an air pump in it all the time, but I should bring my patch kit as well. I don't like Fix-a-Flat.

Glad to hear that Beth is back home. Did you screen her again with the Geiger counter before bringing her home? :P
Jim
Elmer, glad you made it down ok and hope you settle in nicely.
Steve, good that Beth is home now!!
Speaking of not posting, where's Colin? Is he a 100% Mitsu-head now?

Those things are HUGE. It was easy to find.
But the good news is I plugged it up nicely and passed a leak test, plus it held its pressure overnight.
Tires are pretty evenly worn, slightly more on the outer sides from cornering, but they are in good shape. I think I'll start tire shopping soon but I won't rush out and buy them now.

My mother looks 'well', although there are lingering issues. They have changed some medications, including the one for her thyroid. She was released from the hospital the day after we arrived. We stayed to see her for four days of the trip, and I talked to her again last night. She still feels 'ok' for the most part. I'm worried that they really haven't been able to find the underlying cause of all the problems, though. She will be 70 next month - not that 'old', but she and my dad are very old before they should be due to inactivity and lack of interest in life in general.
We enjoyed our trip and enjoyed seeing everyone. AGAIN, I passed SAI twice on the trip on the highway.... when are we going to actually MEET up there????
glad to be back and there are a ton of messages in other boards here to catch up on, although I did read this one while I was gone ..
glad to see Elm is over his surgery and moved ... but summer in Atlanta isn't the best time to get acquainted with the south! The day we arrived in Texas it was so hot that about 8 counties just north of Houston ended up without electrical power (and A/C) due to the heat overloads which caused a mini-blackout. You'll love winter, though!
See ya!
LOL... it's ok. I was raised in Puerto Rico; I've experienced it many times before
2700 miles? Yowsah. Must've been nice to bring the whole Townhouse with you. LOL
Perfect weather here in DC, it's been sunny and mild the last couple of days. I may go for a walk at lunch.

I had a end-of-year dinner with my work buddies, should've snuck in Serge! LOL
We went to Seqouia, a nice place on the Georgetown Waterfront. You see all the planes coming in towards National Airport, plus all the boats on the Potomac. Some times I forget how close I work to the water.
Got home well past the end of the chat so I missed the whole thing.

Elm, you left the heat and humidity here! Tomorrow 95+ degrees. :disco:

Cheers {Pat.

How 'bout damn Yankees!
Checked the forecast today for DC - rain (already had some), tomorrow rain. Just to make sure my cars get dirty, there will also be rain on Wednesday and Thursday. 100% chance on all 4 days.
Am I jinxed or what?

Now I am glad I didn't wash my car this weekend
Actually no time for that. Spent Thurs thru Sunday in 3 different hospitals for most of the time
Then, to top it off, spent last night in the ER with my wife. We recently adopted another cat after putting our oldest to sleep about 3 weeks ago. The youngster was getting restless so we decided to get a friend. Well, Saturday while I was taking my mom home, the new cat scratched, and bit my wife. We cleaned it up and thought that was all. Yesterday I was in a defensive driver class and get a call saying my wife wants to go the ER. Seems the bites got infected. After a tetnaus shot and some antibiotics she's fine, but I have to say I am getting sick of hospitals. And to add to it- the hospital first gave her penicillin which she is allergic to. So they had to give her Benadryl as well!
It seems I wasn't the only one with a bad weekend though. A friend in the local Porsche club was at Watkins Glen for a track weekend, and wound up wrecking his car. Now he's looking for a new ride.
What a weekend! Hope it was better for everyone else!

Yeah, that's the place. They have a nice walkway along the East river. My mom even kept looking at all the boats going by. Made us promise to go with her on the Circle Line boat. CAn you beleive she's going to be 79 and never on it; then again I'm almost 44 and haven't either. I guess we never see the stuff in our own "backyard".
Mark
Take a half day and do the circle line cruise. It is not to be missed.

First, to those who donated, thank you again for your support. My partner and I raised over $6,000 for the cause, and collectively the 1,600 riders this year were able to raise $6.8 million the SF AIDS Foundation and the LA Gay and Lesbian Center. A huge success by any measure!
The event was June 5-11th, and it was without question the most fulfilling week vacation of my life. The ride was grueling (585 miles) but we all survived and felt absolutely fantastic on day 7 when we rolled into LA.
Subaru was again one of the primary sponsors of the event and they maintained a high profile throughout the week. SOA provided a fleet of 2005-2006 Subarus (mostly Tribecas, but there were several 06 Forester XT/LL Beans and a handfull of Legacy GT's and Outback XT/LL Beans) to serve as support vehicles for the crew. There were nearly 500 volunteers/roadies on hand to support the riders throughout the week, and many were driving the Subarus from camp to camp. It was neat to see all the new Subaru's working the route.
I cannot stress enough how proud I am to be a Subaru customer -- they support "my" community in ways that go far beyond the typical marketing efforts put forth by other companies. For 15 years now, Subaru has led the way by not only marketing to the GLBT community, but also actively supporting it with substantial financial committments such as the AIDS/Lifecycle event. Their progressive leadership has made a customer for life out of me.
Anyways, there are pics and blogs of the event posted at www.experience.aidslifecycle.org -- and thanks again for your support!
Regards,
Brian Kaiser

right now ... I have skimmed all but two boards ... and there are about 1100 to go .... lol
I'm going to make a valiant attempt to remember chat tomorrow night .. as there is no reason at this point for me to not be there ...
see ya!

I think what you, your group, and Subaru has done here is quite neat. Well done and congratulations!
Steve
Brian: I'll add my congrats as well.
I'm sure you're familiar with The L Word and Subaru seems to be a sponsor for that show, in fact they talk about Subaru sponsoring the tennis playing character in that show. Great show BTW.
Automotive News had an article about the subject of targeted marketing recently if you want to look it up. Or ask me and I'll e-mail you a copy.

Congrats on completing what sounds like a very interesting ride. Glad to hear about Subaru's support along the way as well. How'd you handle the hills?
Mark
I had the outback in for service at my saleman came over to try to sell me a new car . I will not sit in a new subby due to the fact I will want one . So I looked at a Chevy equinox due to the emp discont thing going on now . Nice but very cheap materials used on the inside . To make a long story short they only offered my 9900.00 for my 02 outback with 55k miles on it . I laughed in their face and walked back over to service area .
Mike k
I'll give you 9901 for that Outback. ;-)
