    Talking to me?

    People have GOT to learn to simply ignore the trolls and troublemakers. When totally ignored, they ALWAYS go away!

    Also the "funny" inane posts need to at least be toned down too or these forums will continue to be shut down...speaking as a non-host, I know.

    Well we got the refund! I stayed firm with the guy in finance who "insisted" I was making a big mistake by asking them to remove the additional alarm...but in the end he conceded and gave me a full refund of 354.00 including tax. He finally gave in when he told me that the additional alarm system has a starter disable (the Odyssey just has ignition immobilizer) and that if I had seen the movie "Gone in 60 seconds" I would realize how valuable this is....I looked at him straight in the eye and said "I'm pretty sure in the movie...the Honda Odyssey Minivan was not one of the real sexy hot cars sought after--you hardly see someone wanting to tear down the freeway in one of those". My husband looked incredulous as I made the comment realizing how bold this car buying business has made me. So to anyone else wanting refunds...legally you have every right to cancel as it is an "dealer accessory".

    Have been off site for a couple of months.Please advise:how far back in the archives do I have to search to find at least two consecutive posts that have anything to do with the stated title of this discussion forum? SHEESH!!!!!!!!!
  • madmanmoomadmanmoo Member Posts: 2,039
    You may need to check on your reading comprehension. The poor lady with the alarm debacle was misled. And that was the latest postings.

    Are you sure you're in the right forum?
  • saablcpsaablcp Member Posts: 195
    Had a few minutes to kill .....other than the post regarding the alarm issue I had to go back 60+ Posts to early August to find anything on topic.

    OK... but the best thing to do in a discussion that's gone a bit off-track is NOT to continue the trend by posting more off-topic comments about how the discussion is off-topic. I am in total agreement.Not having a thread to initiate however,I was simply expressing in a sarcastic way my frustration at the drivel being posted .I generally do try and participate in a positive way when I find a topic that interests me.Having been in the business for 24 years and always vigilant about keeping my ethics and integrity intact,this site is one I monitor frequently.

    Please feel free to initiate your own topic relevant issues here. Your business experience surely gives you a unique perspective that I am sure all will appreciate and would be the best antidote to forum drivel. :)

    Many moons ago, (93 i think) i bought a new GMC Sonoma pick-up, 2.8 V6 with a 5-speed. I specifically asked the salesman if i could get the truck with the 4.3 V6 with a 5-speed. He told me NO, that combination of engine/transmission did not exist. Several days later i found GMC trucks for sale, you guessed it, equipped with 4.3 V6 with a manual transmission. As luck would have it, I received a telephone call from a gentlemen asking me if I had a few minutes to take a survey over the phone about my recent purchase. I sure did, and I had plenty to tell him about the incorrect information concerning the engine/transmission availability. I had been referred to this particular salesman by a co-worker, who came up to me at the office several weeks later. The co-worker told me the salesman called him in a panic, said his boss called him on the carpet and threatened to fire him over this survey, etc. I was very disappointed in both the dealership and the truck(underpowered), trading it in less than a year. But I had no idea a single survey had so much power, at least it did 15 years ago. On a side note, I am currently serving in Iraq and time spent on Edmunds takes me away from this God forsaken place. Thanks to all of you...

    Bill Heard Chevrolet shuts down

    I thought it was appropriate to post this story on this forum with Bill Heard Chevrolet's stellar reputation.

    And here's some comments on the newspaper forum. Hope it's OK to post this here.

    Judging from the complaints out there against them over the years, I can only hope that prison is the next stop. Shame on GM for allowing their shenanigans for all these years. Sadly, I doubt that this played a big factor though; the problem probably was financial. Poetic justice.

    I wonder if GM helped close them down based on complaints.

    I would love to think so -- but I doubt it. I imagine that Detroit will turn a blind eye a gazillion times when you are #1 in the country. That's a lot of rear ends burning gas in GM products. I tend to believe that it was probably mostly financial with their reputation as icing on the cake at best. Most articles that I have seen blamed the problems on the economic downturn.

    cut & copied from various articles:

    According to its Web site, Bill Heard sells “around $2.5 billion” a year and employs more than 3,500.

    Dealer "Bill Heard Enterprises" has been a target of the Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs.
    That office was seeking more than $50 million in penalties for deceptive marketing and alleged signature forgery, but that suit will fall through if the company declares bankruptcy.

    The biggest Chevy dealer in America, Bill Heard Enterprises, is shuttering 13 dealerships including one in Plant City.

    Some of the comments in various articles when I read a couple days ago about Heard closing down was financial.

    A good friend commented that a builder in his area has their model home in foreclosure. A large lumber supplier went bankrupt midweek as two builders filed. I may not have the number right but one builder owed them more than $500,000; the other was similar. I suspect this is happening all over the country, hence the nervousness in Washington.

    I see that paralleling Heard's problems along with lots of consumer complaints and improper selling techniques.

    Bill Heard defrauded GMAC, thats why they closed.
    GMAC wouldn't floor them or allow it's financing to be used.

    Hey Volvo,

    Where did you read that? That would make the most sense of anything that has happened, but I had not read that.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    We have a Bill Heard store here in Scottsdale.
    I spoke w/ someone in the know.
  • madmanmoomadmanmoo Member Posts: 2,039
    Wow. That is simply amazing. So they were probably fudging numbers and committing fraud on GMAC Financial. The customers default on their loans and all the skeletons fall out of the closet. Wow.

    Why wouldn't they just switch to someone else for floorplan. I worked at a dealership that was with wells fargo, and am currently with one that uses GMAC. With all the employee pricing i haven't done a single deal with GMAC because their rates aren't worth giving up a rebate, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal not to use their financing. You said you know someone who worked there, did they shed anymore light on the subject?

    the builder will start over as a home improvement contractor. there is plenty of that work in your area.

    If your dealership defrauded GMAC, how likely is another bank to Floor you, or even do business w/ you?
    Not likely.

    Tell me would you take them on and finance them if you heard that they were defrauding their last lender?

    Well, is it a nationally known fact they were defrauding GMAC? Everything i've seen has stated "financial hardships." This forum is the only thing i've read about them defrauding GMAC. It was an honest question to a guy who said he knew someone who was "in the know." Settle down snakeweasel.
  • fandiguyfandiguy Member Posts: 101
    Oh, and "fudging numbers" on contracts is a complete separate issue from them using GMAC for floorplan. Tons of dealers get put on watch from lenders for shady behavior. They just happend to "fudge" numbers on contracts with the same company that they used for floorplan. If they were floorplanned with a different bank, and defrauded GMAC, they probably wouldn't be in this situation.

    Settle down snakeweasel.

    Those of us who have been around here a while just call him "snake"; "snakeweasel" is too formal. :P

    Then there is 'jipster' who calls him "snakey". From that I'm convinced they played together as kids in the school yard but neither of them will admit to that. :blush:

    BTW, I just caught you talking to yourself (posts 1778 and 1779). You gotta knock that off. Otherwise 'tidester' is going to write you a subscription or raise your dues. :surprise:

    I've noticed that, and a few other things;

    -It usually takes about 3 posts for the topic to turn into an arguement.

    -If you ever make a really good, solid point against someone else, they'll come back and point out spelling or grammerical errors in your post because they have nothing else to come back with!

    Its interesting to see all the different views on certain topics though, i like to read about what some customers are thinking before they come into the dealership or f&i office.
  • madmanmoomadmanmoo Member Posts: 2,039
    To help in that regard -

    Arguement = argument
    grammerical = grammatical

    :P

    And yes, I agree. Seeing the different viewpoints is always fun.

    I was wondering how long it'd be before someone did that ;)
