I got 4.85% for 60 months through a Credit Union with direct withdrawal. It's 5.35% without.

It was Alliance Credit union pre-approved and Dealer's finance dept has a direct line with them so I setup all account and paper work from Honda dealership without even go to the Credit Union.

It was so low that Honda didn't even try to match with another one.

Glad to hear you got a good deal from Russell & Smith in Houston. I picked my Touring w/Nav up from them last week. Got it for about $650 under invoice +TTL. The internet sales manager even went out of his way to match the Cars.com price for our '01 Ody EX-L trade-in. I can't say enough nice things about this dealership.

They respond quickly to your emails, no high pressure add-on tactics, and they beat all other Houston Honda dealer prices easily. If you're in the Houston area (heck even Austin folks might find it worth the drive)and looking for a good deal on a Honda - check out these folks. Bet you won't find a better deal anywhere else. :shades:

I'm ready to buy over the next week. I have received quotes on an EX-L w/ RES from four dealers, with the best two being 29146 and 29345 (vs. invoice+dest of 29696) from fleet dealers over the phone. Should I just go for the 29146, or is it worth it to pit them against each other for a better price? I'm not much for haggling, and I'm not sure how much lower I could really get them to go.

Also, I had one fleet dealer tell me that the $500 dealer incentive doesn't help him lower the price for me, because all of that money goes straight to the dealership and not into his pocket. Does this seem like a reasonable story?
  • cuongcuong Member Posts: 45
You can count me in for Russell & Smith too. On the email, they list out all the numbers for you. Also, dont forget to print out $100 off coupon from their website.

I know one Credit Union in Houston will give you a good rate if you put 20% down on your vehicle. Don't other Credit Union in other cities have something like this.

That's a good price. Some people paid more and a few paid less. I was quoted 29270 for an EX-L w/ RES. If the dealer has the color and the van you like I'd say go for it, if not than you can email around to see if other can match or beat it. If you are going for for your second choice tell them that it's not what you want and ask them to throw is some stuffs like all-weather mats or cargo tray or mud guards, etc...But that's a good price. ;)

    Hello all,

I am looking to lease an ODY EX-L w/DVD in Ohio. What price should I aim for via a 36 or 48 mo. lease w/ 12K/year?

(I don't care about the residual or the total vehicle price, I won't be buying at the end of the lease, so lowest monthly payments is the goal for me). Thanks in advance for all your help.

P.S. If any of you have recent lease offers/prices in states other than Ohio, I would appreciate them as well!

Just signed a 36 month lease at the end of April for an EX-L w/RES in the NY metro area. The lease price was based on Invoice of 29,146 + 550 DES. Monthly payment worked out to be $428/mnth (The RES actually drops the residual 2 pts! and NAVi would have dropped it another 2!)

I did shop this deal around at the last minute and was able to get the monthly price down to $415 a month which is about $500 below invoice. I also had another dealer quote the car at $28,846 which they claimed was $1000 under invoice -(in reality on $300 below) -even showed me the "printout" showing their cost.

Long story short I decided to go with the dealer I felt most comfortable with and was closest to home even though I might have been able to save $500 over the life of the lease.

I was quoted 27947 from Open Road Honda, NJ. I had already signed with another dealership in the mean time in NY and I used the online internet direct sales price to negotiate a cheaper price. Every dealer has the right to make a buck, but I could not see paying 2000.00 more. The dealership I went with claims that they will give you the cheaper quotes to get you into the store and then add higher fees or tell you the car they have has extras you need to pay for and it eventually works out to be the closest. I paid 50.00 for doc fess where I have sen others pay higher, so this is probably true. For 2006 Honda Odyssey EX Leather with DVD I received a price for 30,200 and lowered it by another 1000.00 with the NJ price. My advise is shop around and tell the dealers what the lowest price you received was and make the deal 2 to 3 days before the month ends when they need to push out the cars. Also if you are getting options see if they will do better on the options to get your business. I found all the options they showed me at http://www.bernardiparts.com (you can find other sites as well) but this site has the options nicely categorized and with the instructions so you can figure out what the markup is roughly about and if your handy if you can do it yourself. For example the Honda Splash Guards - Set of 4 where $295 installed at the dealer and $66.00 online to purchase. I can get them and install them easily. So find the dealership that you like in your area that may have a good reputation and present them with your best offer(figure out your min and maxm, start with min) at the end of the month, and be prepared to walk if you are not satisfied. Good luck.

Agree with Duper. You may be able to get another $200 out of them, but at the end of the day you are getting a great van at a great price. Looking through some of the old posts when the current generation Odyssey first came out, some folks were paying $2K OVER invoice.. I'd say you did just fine ;)

You will love the van. It is a great vehicle.

Thank you, youngt. Did your $428/mo include taxes or not? I sent out a bunch of requests for a net quote, and one came back (so far) with the the following:
    48 mo lease
15K miles per year (I did ask for 15K)
$479 per month INCLUDING TAX (which for me is 6.5%, i.e. ~$31/month)

I've asked them for what price this quote is based on, what the residual and money factor they are using, etc. I will post when I get this data. For now, I am not sure how it compares to yours, given the mileage and tax differences, unless yours included tax, in which case your deal blows my quote away.

P.S. How much extra should I expect to pay for 15K per month vs. 12K per month?
  • ee74ee74 Member Posts: 13
Thanks to all for the advice. I just got a call back from the dealer at the higher price, saying he can knock "several hundred" dollars off his price. I'm planning to go by and talk to him in person tomorrow. If he's just using this to get me in, I'll go to the first dealer and be done with it.

The residual will drop 2% when you go to the 15K/yr lease from 12K/yr..

If the MSRP is $35K, it will add a little over $700 to your total lease payments.... Or, about $20/mo.

Genester1 - I chose to pay all taxes and fees up front. My goal was to try and keep the payments as close to 400 as possible (even though I insisted we get the DVD player !)Tax rate was 8.65% which translated to just under $1,400. I also had to pay a "Acq Fee" of $595. I was suspicious of this fee only because it was easy to get the car at invoice. Who knows maybe I could have gotten out of this fee - this is my first time leasing a vehicle. There was no security deposit required either. The only negative experience I had was when the finance person tried to sell us Total Loss Protection (GAP Insurance). Not only is it included in all American Honda Leases it is required by NY Law !!!

For April the residuals for the Ex-l, Ex-lR, and EXL-RN was 60, 58, and 56 respectively. I am curious what they are for the month of May. Our salesguy said they dropped a point. I really wanted to wait 2 months but I was afraid with the 07 models coming that the residuals would drop even more!

    KYFDX, thank you!

Here's the question: I have no intention of buying the car at the end. I will definitely need the 15K miles per year. Am I better off getting 12K per year, and then gambling on the dealer taking the car off my hands when the lease runs close to being done (buying it and selling it to the dealer as a condition of getting a new car from them), or should I bite the bullet and get the 15K?

    A newbie here...
My credit score is 687 and I was wondering if I should even bother to go to the local Honda dealer to see if they would give me the May special of $269/month lease for a 2006 Odyssey LX.
If I can't get a good deal on Odyssey I may have to settle for a Sienna or Quest.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I don't know about the finance, but I am in the Round Rock and have a price of $28790 for the EXL and 29,290 with the res....what are you getting as far as quotes? (both of these include the "appearance package", which they say they are charging $200 for.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,565
    Get the 15K/yr upfront..

9000 extra miles for $720... That is only $0.08 per mile...

If you know you are going to use the extra mileage, it is a no-brainer..

Silver color at SC. I am too cheap to buy a EX, but I am happy with the van now. Cross my fingers now.

Like everyone else, I'm trying to find the best price and dealer. Any suggestions? I e-mailed several dealers and when I received a response from them I asked them to break down the cost. So far, the quote was 31,663 plus tax and license is $34480. Another dealer quoted me 31,673 before tax and license. Help? Should I wait til memorial weekend?

Grand Honda in Chicago is selling the fully loaded Touring RES/NAVI for $33,947(this includes $550 destination). The only limit is you can only buy two(2) at this price!
That's as good of a deal I have seen anywhere. All the models (LX, EX, EXL+) are all going for similar discounts. See if your dealer is willing to go this low. I saw the ad for Grand, called a closer dealer to me and they called me back within an hour and said "we accept your offer of $33,947(including destination charges). I think I paid close to this for my 1998 Sienna! Anyway, needless to say, I'm picking the Odyssey up on Monday afternoon. Good luck!
  • kjhighballkjhighball Member Posts: 10
The Grand Honda ad has several great prices in the print ad available off their website. I'm in Texas so I don't know if local dealers would honor....

    LX - $21860
    EX - $24601
    EXL - $26500
    EXLRES - $28250
    EXLRESNAVI - $30250
    Touring RES - $31970
    Touring RESNAV - $33947

Concerning the 2007 Odyssey, does anyone have knowledge of what price they will be selling for after they are introduced? Will it be closer to MSRP or Invoice?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
No one has such "knowledge" of future events. All one can do is guess based on the past. Given current Odyssey street prices (at or below invoice in most of the country), I would be surprised to see '07s sell for much more (other than perhaps the first ones that trickle into stores).
  • dc_driverdc_driver Member Posts: 712
Those are really good prices )well below invoice). Does this include destination? What other fees does this dealer have?

Not sure if I would pass this deal up...
  • kjhighballkjhighball Member Posts: 10
According to the ad, the price includes destination. I do not know about any other fees.
  • chirpchirp Member Posts: 194
As I said, destination is included. You need to pay tax and licensing and minimal doc fee;that's it. This deal is too good to pass up and my Touring/NAVI/RES will be ready Monday afternoon. I found the paperwork on my 1998 XLE SIENNA that I purchased 8 years ago. It was $31,000! I'm stoked. :)

I almost pulled the trigger (no pun intended :) at the dealership today..

I was quoted 27000 (incl. dest) + ttl for an 06 EX-L. My research tells me that price is $1258 below invoice (28258). Couple of reasons why I hesitated:

    1. The license/dmv fees were about 250 and doc fees were 45. Do they look reasonable?

    2. They applied the sales tax to the total of 27000 + ttl fees. Isn't sales tax supposed to be only on the base price (excl. destination)?

    3. They tried to sell wheel locks for $99. Aren't wheel locks standard?

    thx much.

I'm new here and am looking for a van I can pay for with cash. I've read bad reviews on Caravans and Windstars. How about a high mileage Odyssey? Ad says great condition, etc. Would have checked by mechanic. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

I got a letter from a dealer near Chicago. They are saying 2 days of employee pricing and need to bring the letter in for this special pricing.

Anyone else with an experience of this kind. I am planning to buy Odyssey EX. I got a dealer quote of $25,200

    thx much

I got it at AutoWest Honda in Fremont.
Capitol Honda was willing to match the price too but they don't have Sage with Olive instead of Ivory.

Goodluck, let us know how it turns out for you. ;)

That's seem about right for DMV fee for. $45 is good for doc fee.

Wheel locks are not standard but most will throw them for free; it only costs $54 online not $100.
  • skhoslaskhosla Member Posts: 22
    Thanks duper.

I guess I shouldn't create a fuss about the sales tax on the fees (which would amount to less than 50$). I am going to ask them to put the wheel locks into the price.

As for the 27000 price, is that a good price based on what others have been getting recently?

    thx again
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
It's a great price, dont' think twice about grabbing it. Sales tax is charged on the price of the vehicle (which includes the destination charge).

Ask them what their OTD (out the door) price is. That is one heck of a deal...
  • kwbdawgkwbdawg Member Posts: 4
My wife and I have been looking at purchasing an Odyssey for the past month at multiple dealerships in the Atlanta area. On Saturday we finally determined the color we wanted in a EXL Res package. Once I got home I started calling multiple dealerships asking for an "out the door" price including my trade. As a note, a buddy of mine purchased an EXL from Curry for $28,800 OTD last month when there were no dealer incentives. I knew the $28,800 was a solid deal. Anyway, I received a quote of $32,000 "out the door" from Ed Voyles for a EXL w/Res. I then called Gwinnett Place and Curry Honda and received a quote of $31,800 from both, which each one said on the phone that they could offer a little more on my trade and $200 less on the quote. I called Curry multiple times to confirm that $31,800 was right and they said yes. So, on Sunday (Mothers Day) I decided to call Curry again and tell them I now wanted the Navi as well and would pay the additional $2,000 MSRP difference for which I confirmed multiple times on the phone that the "out the door" would be $33,800 including my trade. They said yes, which I told them they better be correct because my wife and child were tired of visiting car dealerships and it was mothers day. The sale manager said we were good. I drove to Curry and found the car I wanted and told the dealership I was ready to make the purchase. Well OVER 2 HRS after being in the dealership and saying lets deal the sales manager finally brings a price to my wife showing the quote as $36,800 drive out. I was really mad after that. Not only was my family sitting around for OVER 2 HRS with not discussion on what the hold up was, but the price was much higher than discussed. The 2 sales managers I spoke to at the dealership said they thought my $33,800 price was after my trade in (96 Accord $2,450 good condition). All this after the one sales manager I spoke extensively with drove my wife and I in the golf cart to the car when we initially got there saying I drove a hard bargain. Please! I told them to go back and see what they could do and the best was $31,900 after doing $3,000 trade-in. Car shopping is not fun and I will never recommend anybody to buy from Curry Honda after the experience I had.

$1 or 1k. I would jump on it right away if it's $1.

Sorry to hear about your experience, it sounded pretty frustrating considering you had your family with you..

Did you walk or did you buy the van? The prices they were quoting you were just under MSRP, and it seems like most folks are getting their Odyssey's at or below invoice. I was really surprised that I was able to get my Odyssey (EX-L) below invoice since, historically, Honda dealers in my area never then to sell these vehicles at or below invoice.

We purchased ours their, last month for the advertised price on an EXLRES (at that time, 28,500 incl destination). They were a bit high on accessories (mudflaps, cargo tray, wheel locks), but had 14 other dealers beat by a mile on the total price. Total, OTD, with our accessories from Grand was 28,941. Add tax, title, lic., doc fee. nothing hidden pulled on us. We even got the 3.9% financing that was offered in April.

I was a bit bothered that the internet manager had our salesperson running back and forth with our offer on paper, not just starting at the 28,941, considering we had agreed on in e-mail before arriving, but we got the deal, so that is all that matters! Arrived at 7:30pm, drove off at 10:00pm (it took a while to get the car out, as it was 4 deep on the lot)
  • kwbdawgkwbdawg Member Posts: 4
We told the sales manager to come back with their best offer. After another 30 minutes they came back with $34,900 and $3,000 for my trade, so OTD would be $31,900. After that my family just got up and left. Curry pulled this same song and dance with my buddy who purchased his EXL for $28,800 OTD. So, I have offers on the table from other dealerships for $2,000 better than Curry is offering up.

I am in the preliminary stages but should pull the trigger either at the end of this month or next. The main holdup is that I have yet to figure out whether I want to sell my current car or trade it. It seems like $28,000 + TTL is sort of the tipping point these days. I would be curious to know where you wind up when you finally decide.
  • dc_driverdc_driver Member Posts: 712
I think you did the right thing :)
It is too bad that dealers try to pull these tactics after you called them multiple times to verify the price..

Sounds like you are a smart shopper. I took my wife and child out when we were comparison shopping (drove all the different vans back to back, found the particular model and color we wanted) and then I emailed and called the next day (last day of the month) to get the best price. I also handled all the paperwork at the dealer by myself so my wife and infant did not have to wait (it took about 2.5 hours total).

Good luck, and let us know how things turn out!

Was "casually shpg" for a new vehicle, wanting to see what the cost would be to get out of the 2002 Ody LX w/ 81k miles and into a new one. I think we got a good deal. Was given $11k tradein allowance.

Tax (8%), Title, License, and 8yr/120k 0Ded warranty, less $11k trade => OTD $14500. (actually, I think they made a $200 error on the xtnded warranty, as they seemed a bit shaken when we finalized the transaction.)

I see it as "resetting the clock and the Odometer to zero" for a cost of under 18 cents/mile. Not a bad deal to me, and I've got nothing to worry about for the next 8yrs other than reg maint and the MGM weapons of vehicle destruction (Moron-Guided Missiles) on the road.
  • kwbdawgkwbdawg Member Posts: 4
Thanks DC_Driver. My wife said she will not go to another dealership again. It is now up to me for when the paperwork has to get done. I will let you know how things turn out. Many more ordeals like this and I will go with a Sienna.

I am going to the dealer on Wednesday. I got a verbal quote of $24,100 for EX. I will buy it depending on the price I get on my trade in. I had very good experience at this dealership last time (O'Hare Honda in Chicago). I am hoping for a similar experience. I will post details after purchase.

I am currently leasing a 2004 Nissan Quest SL with DVD, power sliding door, power gate, etc. It's MSRP was $30220 w/o TT&L and a local Nissan dealer gave me a deal for $410/month with $0 down for 36 month @ 15k miles/year.
I am interested in leasing a comparable 2006 Odyssey (EX-L with RES) for the next 36 months @ 15k miles/year. Would it be unreasonable to think that I can get a similar deal from a Honda dealer?
    Thanks for your input.

Picked up my Touring/RES/NAVI from O'Hare Honda yesterday afternoon. These guys extended the Elmhurst Grand Auto pricing to me. $1,500 under invoice. I paid $33,947(incl. destination) plus tax and licensing. This vehicle is absolutely incredible and we can't wait to hit the road this summer!

    See ya around the expressways!!

PS- They extended the pricing to me over the phone on Saturday and I walked in on Monday and was gone from the dealership in a little over an hour with the van. What a great and wonderful buying experience.
  • dc_driverdc_driver Member Posts: 712
That is a great price! Even though I did not get it as I already had an aftermarket NAV system, the Honda/Acura NAV system is a great NAV system. You really got a top of the line van for the money.

    Congrats.
