    Johnfor2 - Just to clarify a point jcihak made, I bought my car straight up and so no trade in for $23,900 + TTL. Before you make your purchase, please consider the fact that there is a "depreciation" of around $1,150 (according to KBB) comparing a similarly equiped 2003 and 2004 model and the 2004 has the XM radio. If the price difference of the two is less than $1,150, then go with the 2004. Some may argue that they never intent to sell their car, but that's not the only point, because one never knows when they'll get into an accident and have their car total loss. I say this because my 99 Accord Lx got rear-ended two months ago and was claimed total loss. And although the insurance companies don't use KKB for evaluation, they use similar sources. As a result when consider to buy in the month of Sep/Oct, don't forget to take depreciation of the previous year model into account. Sometimes you are better off paying more and get the 2004 model. The 2004 EX V6 on carsdirect is $25,213. At least you know you won't do worst than that at the dealers. Good luck and keep us posted on your purchase.

    I finally got my new baby, thanks to everyone who contribute to this forum.

    Yes, I got a TL, for the price just a little over accord EX-V6. In case you don't know it, there is $1500 cash from Acura so I got my TL $1500 below INVOICE. Well, I know I'll miss the dual climate control, the newer designed interior, integrated key with remote and better steering wheel controls, but with the TL, you got more luxury feeling, softer leather, two settings of memory seat with mirrors and adjust position based on which remote you use to unlock the door, slight bigger engine (3.2 vs 3.0), standard auto dim mirror, heated outside mirrors, shiftable tranny and one year longer warrenty. Free wheel lock, truck net, floor mats, first oil change for free. Free loaner for service plus free state inspection and emission inspection FOR LIFE. So I highly recommend to go check out Acura before you rush into anything.

    Trying to get an idea of the best I can expect to do on a remianing '03 or new '04 Coupe with the manual transmission. Lots of sedan prices here - but I'm wantin' the coupe. So...who's gotten a killer deal out there?

    well, yes, TL has less horsepower. 225hp@5600rpm vs 240hp@6250rpm. But for daily driving, you don't need the peak horsepower anyway, plus TL reaches it's peak earlier then accord. More torque also: 216@4700rpm vs 212@5000rpm.

    i had to pay taxes and tags. that is it. so, yes, if a freight or destination charge was included, it was in the $23700. end of model year.

    i shopped around a lot, the same price was offered everywhere, but i ended up going to Leesbug Honda. they had the color i wanted. i also liked dealing with them better than the more "urban" dealers..

    jcihak, you make a good point on the price. From that standpoint, I would have been better to go with the 2004 as I think I would have only had to pay $800 more. At the same time, I tend to keep my cars for a long time and so trading off $800 in cash now for less depreciation down the road is questionable. Plus with the 2003 I get the 2.9% financing for up to 5 years. So right or wrong, I went with the 2003. $24,873.06 +T&L for EX V6 with leather, tinting, and spoiler. If the car runs reliably for years, I will let you know whether I got a good deal - check with me in 10.

    Paid $23,085. Had $23,000 from 2 other dealers but paid extra to get black and buy from the neighborhood dealer. Out the door was $24,908 including 6% sales tax and $399 doc fee plus $22 misc. Doc fee is additional dealer revenue no matter what they try to tell you so when they try telling you they are'nt making a profit because its $675 below invoice, remind them of the $400 doc fee and the 3% holdback on the $23,675 invoice price.

    NJ has 6% sales tax. You do get credit for your trade though, and only have to pay taxes on the difference between the purchase price minus any trade.

    5.4% of MSRP, no matter what price you pay for a new car.. And no credit for trades.. Leasing is much better for frequent traders.. You just pay 6% on the monthly payment.

    varies by county. my tax was 7.50% which I think is 4% state 3.5% county. but like NJ taxed only on net price of car (negotiated price minus trade)

    I called dealership and they are willing to paint that any time.

    2003 is $26,062 or $500 over the dealer invoice at Stevens Creek Honda in San Jose, CA...contact the Fleet Department or they'll ask for retail.

    Bought my Accord EX-L 4-cyl 5AT on Aug. 30. Absolutely love this car. Paid $21,078 (destination charge included) + TTL and got a 2.9% APR. The price comes with an appearance package (pinstripe, door and fender edge guards), splash guards, floor mats and wheel locks (seems the latter two come standard with EX). Did my research on the internet. Had a great buying experience with Jim Coleman's Honda, Clarksville, MD. Look for James Santana. They did not have the color (black) I was looking for but quickly located one from College Park Honda.

    whatever you paid, whichever Accord you bought, these cars are a third less than anything comparable. My daughter's 03 EXV6 sedan feels just like my wife's Lexus for 10k less. My mother-in-laws 03 LX sedan @ $18.5k (less the leather, sunroof, etc, etc) was a steal.....plenty quick and with everything you really need and not a thing more, lol. Don't worry, be happy. If you bought an Accord you got a great deal even if you paid 500 over MSRP. No, I'm not a Honda salesman.......just a car guy who knows a value when he sees one.

    I'm getting an 03 ex v6 w/o navi for 200 over invoice this weekend. It has mud guards, wheel locks and pinstripe. I think it's a fair deal. I'm adding Fog lights, a 100k mile warrenty, with all that, and the tax tags and fees etc.....i should be walking out just under 27K.

    I don't think that's bad at all. The warrenty and tax is what makes it so freakin high!

    I also feel that more than $125 (and that is generous) for tags and license is excessive. Advertising and paper work fees are just a bump, and should be added to the invoice price for how much you really paid.

    Also specify whether Coupe or Sedan.

    Mini Rant-when buying a new car-CHECK IT OVER WITH A FINE TOOTHED COMB. The dealer is being a nice guy when he sez he will repaint-trouble is a dealer paint job is not nearly as good or durable as a factory job-particularly if you have a J built honda-if the scratches are not thru the base or color coat-live with it-if someone is good with touch up paint-maybe these can be reduced in impact. I would try to get some money out of the dealer and forget getting another car-this thing is USED.

    When buying my last honda-looked at cars in the lot and they all had tiny scratches in the clear coat-some appeared to be all the way thru the clear coat-asked the salesman-what's this-he finally fessed up-couldn't see the scratches at first-they had a cell phone tower installed in their lot the previous week and paint off the tower got on the horizontal paint surfaces-their body shop buffed out the overspray-well I would hate to have one of those cars now-maybe a hundred of them out there-and of course the wonderful dealer told all prospective buyers about this problem. Won't repeat the full story about a tranny fluid leak on a Oddy on the dealers floor-look em over carefully-the hassle you save could be your own.

    a 2003 Accord EX 4cyl 5spd AT for my wife for our anniversary. Hershey Honda in Hershey,PA gave me a killer of a deal on a '03. Got $12k trade on her '00 Civic EX 5spd (clover green) with 26,5k miles. Total on the Accord EX was $22,850 before trade-in. Dealer going to throw in the rear spoiler and we got the 2.9%. My wife just has to pick out what color she wants. I think she is either going to go with the Silver or the Blue. She said she doesn't like the green on the Accord.
    Anyway, happy car shopping to all.

    We picked up our 2004 EX-L Auto sedan for $22,945 including deck lid spoiler, fog lights, fenderwell trim, and splash guards. They gave us $17,100 for our 2003 EX-L coupe 5-speed with 15,600 miles. Kinda stinks that Honda doesn't have special APR on the 04's but we had to have the XM radio.

    If your wife is partial to green then you should look at the new green for 2004. It's kind of a smoky green. It's hard to explain but it's definitely nice. 2004 EX models also get XM and if you get leather you get standard curtain airbags.

    While we were visiting in D.C. we stopped and looked at prices, cause the dealers in syracuse would not do invoice,
    We bought a 2003 graphite pearl EX v-6, with spoiler, muds, all door and fender trim, wheel locks and sunroof deflector for 24,200+tt from clarksville,md. no games very upfront, then also got teflon coat, interior stain protectant, underbody and rust for 400. We need it here in the north...

    great car, definitely a great value, only complaint is the stereo could be better

    Good price on the car, 24,200 with a spoiler not too shabby. In regards to the Teflon coating and stain protector, no offense, but all that stuff is pure profit for the delearship.

    Teflon is the same as wax, it last for about 4 months at the most. The stain protector, its the stuff you can buy at the supermarket, for 5 bucks a can, and the anti-rust is pure nonsense. Manfacturers use double sided calvanized steel. Did you know Honda offers a 6 year 100,000 mile rust through protection?

    Is it an 03 or 04? I would try for a better deal if it's a 2003. Here's a line that worked very well for us when negotiating for our 04 EX-L. "If you don't think I can find another dealer willing to sell me this specific car for $XXXX then I will leave and if I can't find a dealer to sell me this car with these options for this price I will come back and pay your price. But if you think another dealer will give me this car for this price then you either match it or lose the sale." Make sure you do your research and come up with a reasonable price. Carsdirect has the 03 Accord LX with automatic transmission for $17,662. If you do not have a trade this might be the way to go. Or at least use it as a bargaining tool with the dealer.

    Purchased in August 2003 - no dealer options. $23000 (All fees, destinations were included in this price). 6% tax area. Out the door came out to be $24500. No trade in. It didn't even take 5 minutes to reach the price.

    I heard for new cars, I shouldn't drive it too fast within first 5000 miles (maximum 50 miles per hour), is this true? especially for 2003 Accord and 2003 Civic?

    BTW, the prices I have got:

    2003 Accord EX V6: 30063 (invoice) + 300 + PDI (1095) + A/C, GAS taxex(175) + taxes (15%) = 36377.95 (Canadian dollor)

    2003 Civic LX: 18972 (invoice) + 300 + PDI (1010) + AC/GAS + taxes (15%)

    Hondas don't really need much attention during the break in period. go easy on it for 600 miles, thats it.

    After testing Mazda 6i (great car, crude engine and transmission combo), Toyota Camry (great drive train, overly soft ride), Saturn ION/VUE (cheap interiors), I found the Accord to be best. I wanted a discounted '03 4 cyl. but only the EX V6 had side, head curtain airbags in '03. The 2004 Accord has head air bags as an option on all EX models and standard on the EX-L, 4 cyl w/leather.
    Paid $22,700 plus tax, etc. for the 2004 Accord EX-L--silver with black leather interior--no trade-in. Does this sound like a decent deal in San Francisco?
