Most internet prices were for 2003 cars when I started shopping in August. Accord 2004 pre-tax prices ranged from just over $22.9 to a verbal "about $22.6" from an internet dealer who called me--no exact price was quoted. I was surprised to get $22.7 from San Francisco Honda which was the most convenient dealer--everything tends to be more expensive in San Francisco! I didn't think I'd do enough better elsewhere to put up with the aggravation of buying from a distant dealer. Once they could see that I was serious, and after I had rejected their first, ridiculous price (I said I'd done my homework on the net) the sales manager immediately offered the $22.7 which I thought was a fair price for a 2004 EX-L automatic. There are no options on the car except wheel locks that were thrown in because S.F. Honda traded with another dealer to get the color I wanted and the other dealer had already installed them. No dealer options are needed--the car is fully loaded and it has the side, head curtain air bags I wanted (the 2003 EX-L 4 cyl. did not offer them). I thought that the people at S.F. Honda were very cordial and the buying experience was quite good--they even sent me a box of cookies as a thoughtful gesture a week after the sale. I think they have class and would recommend them. I haven't driven the car very much, but so far, it seems to offer as much luxury as one can expect for the price.

I have been negotiating with dealers in WA via the net. The best price, not incl. tax/license/document fees (does anyone know what document fees are?), is 26,761.21. The TMV is 27,956 and Edmunds doesn't list a Invoice price yet. Is this a good price? I would also like the cassette accessory , has anyone had a dealer install one? I had been asking about a new 03, same model, but there seems to be none left in WA. Thank You Edmunds for all the information and help available.

Hello everyone this is my first post hope it helps. I started shopping for an Accord I4 EX-L and a V6-EX about 4 days ago and this is what I have come up with. First I live in Milwaukee WI, just to give you an idea of the Market to where I am purchasing. I have litterly talked to 30+ dealers and 4+ Managers. DO NOT LET THEM INTIMIDATE you, they prey on your honesty, don't be affraid to get up and walk away. Here it goes the results of many hours is this: 20,900 for an EX-L and 22,700 for EX-V6. I got these prices from 2 seperate dealers. They are really pushing to get these out the door and both numbers are below invoice. Those are the final numbers including destination charge. Only one bad thing about buying a 2003 can't get the color I want, but if they have the color you want do not pay for more than stated. Hope this helped.

Try Lynnwood Honda. I purchased that same car (except 2003) in July - EX V6 with Navi for slightly less than your best price. Ask for Rick Fonceca and tell him that John B. (guy with the graphite Pearl 2003 bought on 7/31) sent you. I reached agreement on price over the phone and in five minutes. No hassles, no surprises

Anyone who is in GA I would strongly recommend Gwinnett Place Honda. Huge selection and they are very professional and seem to have this thing down to a science. We bought our 2004 EX-L Silver/black leather, automatic, with decklid spoiler, splash guards, fog lights, and fenderwell trim for $22,800 including the accessories. The sales consultant was Lynn Christopher and he was very professional, courteous, and was fairly knowledgable about the product.

PS .... they have free ice cream. Pretty significant to a pregnant woman :)

I am from Eastcoast(NJ) and it's very rare to see manual transmission in Coupe. Does anyone know where can I find it?
I am looking for LX 4 Cyl Manual..Thanks

Gwinnett Place Honda was not much use to me. For a EX- V6 I paid $23K even plus tax, tag, title, and $399 additional revenue mark up called a documentation fee. I got that price from Edmunds by reading these posts, called pretty much every dealer in a 120 mile radius, and contacted a dealer that would sell it to me at $23,000. The dealer I found after about 8 calls was located about 70 miles away-- problem was he didn't have the car in black, my preferred color, so I kept calling with the intention of buying the other color if I could not find black. Gwinnett Place would not play ball-- price was too low even though they had plenty of 2003 EX-V6's. I did find 3 other dealers in Atlanta that would match the price, one of which had a new black 2003 in transport from Marysville. Just my experience, but the BS they gave me about the price being below invoice (yeah, so what--did they forget about the doc fee and holdback???) was ignorant. They could have made a deal, made a profit, and been that much better off. They decided not to and I decided to buy from someone who understood profits + volume equal more profits.

Haven't got it yet, but I saw the production date on a list in dealership. Why the production date is so old? I saw other 2 were made in April, and another 2 were made in July. I asked the dealer to give me the July one, but they refused me, they said the July ones were not in the yet! Any diffference? BTW, I couldn't find my car in carfax.com by typing my VIN number. My friend bought a Civic with me at the same time, same dealership (haven't picked up the car yet), but we were about to located her car in carfax.com, is there any problem? The only difference I can think of is her car was made in Canada, and my Accord was made in U.S., but carfax.com is a U.S. company...

We tried going through Gwinnett's internet dept once and found out the best way to go is deal in person. If you are there, ready to buy, and have your numbers straight they will give you a great deal.

Gwinnett sells LOTS of Hondas and we have bought 2 from them and they do understand that volume = profits but they also understand that the most serious buyers are in person. We got a straight invoice deal on a 2004 EX-L while receiving KBB excellent trade for my other Accord. Went in for the Element and after driving the Accord/Element and negotiating for the Accord we were still out of there in less than 4 hours.

Besides, have you ever seen Gwinnett Place? They are friggin HUGE. They are doing something right.

go77306: It could be shipping that is showing up on the other Carfax. Why not run a complete Carfax to find out for sure? Also, if she picked up her paperwork already maybe the dealer has already sent the car off to be titled therefore creating a history record.

Bought our new Accord EX-V6 yesterday and Gwinnett Place Honda and could not be happier. Sent emails out through Edmunds starting on Monday. Not only did we get the best price (1200 under Edmunds True Market), we also got a fair price on our trade-in. When we got there the car was ready and we were out in less than 3 hours.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
We may have seen you yesterday. We were there having the fog lights and spoiler installed on our EX-L.

I just purchased a 2004 EX-L, 4 cyl. auto. sedan, no nav. from Herson's Honda in Rockville, MD. Received quotes from 6 dealers and got the best one by far from Herson's. Bought the car for $22,225. The price included wheel locks, fenders, trunk tray, destination fee and dealer processing fee (yes, I said destination fee and dealer processing fee). The internet department is great to deal with. We dealt with Shahul for a no fuss straight up deal. The accounting department even matched my credit union's 3.9% financing deal. I've owned Volvo, Audi, Toyota and Ford and this was by far the most painless car-buying experience I've ever had.

About to get serious here in looking for EX-L coupe in Orange County-LA area. How big a price difference can I expect between the 2003 and 2004? I have read on this discussion group of the 2004 sedans going for $22,700. How much more for the coupes? Also, what are some of the better dealerships to try in the area? I assume I will get the best price by negotiating on the internet via email. All advice welcome! this is one great discussion group!
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
You can probably get a 04 coupe for invoice or a few hundred over while I would try for an 03 at at least $500 under invoice. Coupes shouldn't be any more than the sedans.
  • chipper99chipper99 Member Posts: 3
I bet we saw you. We had our three month old with us. We originallly planned on buying a Infiniti G35, and then thought maybe the Acura TSX was the car for us. After a little more research and a test drive, the EX-V6 was a no-brainer

Purchased 4 Cyl EXL Auto for $22.2K and out the door for $24.25K. Email a dozen dealers and here's some of the prices:

    Walnut Creek: $22.7
    Fairfield: $22.6
    Concord: $22.8
    Carsdirect: $22.7

Could you please check your VIN in carfax.com and autocheck.com? They have free checkings available, I just want to know if your car is in their database. I signed the contract, and they gave me the vin, but I couldn't find the vin in neither of above site, carfax says my vin is invalid, autocheck only shows the year, accord, and made in u.s., eng type and body/style is unknown. I checked few 2003 ex v6s, none of them are shown in the websites, however, 4Cyl exL and LX V6 are in their database.

    Thanks!

Has anybody had any experience special ordering a Honda Sedan/Coupe recently? I want the Coupe with Navigation in a certain color. My experience has been that the dealer manifests have fewer car's with the Navi and thus I may have to order the car. I wonder what happens to "bargaining power" in that situation? Thanks!

You did very well if you bought a 2004 Accord EX-L for 22,225 including destination plus tax and fees. You listed several dealers with prices ranging from 22.6 to 22.8 (I paid 22.7 which seemed OK after all the internet shopping). You didn't say where you eventually bought your car. I'm curious........richard ss

If you are looking to buy a 2004 Accord EX V6 with the Navigation System, you should not pay more than $26,200 (not including tax, tags, and title). This price does not include options. What this price takes into effect is the invoice price (I used the 2003 Model Year's Invoice Price of $25,012) and a 5% profit with destination charge ($460). DO NOT PAY MORE THAN THIS PRICE!!! The invoice price for the 2004 model is about $25,500 (was quoted by a dealer in D.C., but don't believe this is correct). The holdback (what the manufacturer pays the dealer) is 2%. I would highly recommend reading http://www.carbuyingtips.com/carintro.html before you buy a car. This link explains ALL the dealer scams and how to get the best deal for a car without lots of haggling. Use the dealer's tatics against them!!!
  • cathexiscathexis Member Posts: 7
gatrhumpy, I wonder what you would suggest paying for a 2003 EX V6 NAV? A dealership yesterday was giving what I thought was a high bid of $26,603. on a 2003 EX V6 NAV. This is in southern California. What would you offer to pay?
  • sbc94583sbc94583 Member Posts: 4
I purchased from Honda of Hayward. I believe I caught them at a weak point in that they were trying to move some cars at any price. Whether, the prices are still available, it any one's guess.
  • rueshanrueshan Member Posts: 32
gatrhumpy - we appreciate your effort to give correct pricing on the 2004 Accord V6 w/Nav, however when basing your analysis of the correct price on the 2003 invoice, you leave out an important fact... the 2004 model includes the factory installed XM radio, and the 2003 does not. However, the invoice quote that you have from the dealer in DC was very close, invoice is around $25,612, and including destination the price is about $26,072... $200 over invoice plus destination is a great deal, but hardly the line over which somebody should never pay, as you say in your post. Personally, I paid $300 over invoice for my 2004 and that included mud flaps and a visor.
  • gatrhumpygatrhumpy Member Posts: 126
cathexis-When I posted my message, I did not quite know of the invoice price of the 2004 Accord EX V6. I know it is about $25,550 +/- $150. I guess the difference between the 2003 model and 2004 model is the factory installed XM radio in the 2004 model, hence the jump in invoice price. If you can get away with what you quoted when you posted your message, you got a good deal. I would go down to the dealer and try to negotiate another $100 off of that price. If you can get it fine, if not, no big deal. I assume this does not include the $460 shipping charge also. BTW, did you read the articles in the link that I posted? If not, read them. It's IMPORTANT! http://www.carbuyingtips.com/carintro.html

chipper: While we were there we saw a gray EX V6 and a black EX V6 being delivered. We were so bored that we began playing a game where we guessed how many of each model were being delivered .... times were rough till the Tennessee/Florida game came on.

You can't special order Accords. Your best shot is pleaing with people on here to keep an eye out for what you want and checking dealer inventory either on-line or over the phone.
  • sockpuppet1969sockpuppet1969 Member Posts: 308
You CAN special order Accords. It's just something that is not done often. I had to special order my 2003 EX-L with Navi because I wanted a manual transmission. They had to use the Odyssey/Pilot order form, cross out Odyssey and write in Accord. I ordered it in January and took delivery in April (about 90 days). Considering that it was a special order, I think I did okay on the price, paid $23,500 including destination charge. That price was about $100 less than TMV at the time. Love the car!

    Anonymous,

We bought the Gray EX-V6. I made a few passes by the TV area to catch the score myself. I'm still amazed at how painless the buying process was. I know where I will go by buy my S2000 if my wife ever lets me!

Thanks! Enjoy that car....by the way where do you live and where did you buy the car?

gatrhumpy: great info-thanks to you as well. Hey, after all your help I don't need the car buying tips website. Or do I?
  • lhughes51lhughes51 Member Posts: 6
Thanks for the recommendation of Lynnwood Honda, I'll give it a try. My low price of 26,761.21 comes up to 29, 248.40 w/ tax. lic, b&o, & document fee of $35.) That seems high to me. I would like a no hassle, no games, what is your best price.

one dealer said they located an 03 in Oregon, is there a web site one can view the inventory in Oregon?
  • richards38richards38 Member Posts: 606
Go to this site to see Honda Accord invoice prices:

    http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/new/
    reviews/full/index.cfm/id/37579

Be sure to enter the entire URL.
Note that the invoice price in California and a few other states is $150 more than the invoice price shown on the above web site to pay for PZEV emission control which makes the '04 model a "Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle"--the exhaust is supposed to be cleaner than the incoming air (don't continuously inhale what comes from the tail pipe, though!).
My 2004 EX-L 4 cyl. automatic at $22.7 including destination but not tax and license and with an out-the-door price of $24,876--looks very good--less than $250 over invoice. There must be other incentives or kickbacks the factory gives the dealer for selling cars to especially smart, handsome, and witty people. Trouble is, I've seen a few deals posted here that were several hundred dollars better than my deal! Anyway, I hope the invoice list helps you buy a great car.

Anyone one know what a 2003 EX-L V6 coupe is going for with the costco program in southern California?
  • fdefulviofdefulvio Member Posts: 47
I would not put too much faith in the Consumer Guide invoice prices. They actually list the invoice price of the EX-V6 with Nav. as being over $200 lower than the non-Nav. They also list some models with the automatic being cheaper than the manual transmission.

In response to the question by superbone...

We are shopping for an '04 EX-V6 w/o Navi...Obtained an "authorization number" from the auto program, received a referral and a subsequent call from a dealer...We were told the auto program gives us $100 off MSRP...Ironic twist: this dealer Costco referred us to was one that we visited over the weekend, and their price for said vehicle was marked up over $2700 above MSRP...Needless to say, we won't be buying from this dealership, as they were not willing to negotiate.
  • cathexiscathexis Member Posts: 7
Wow, thanks, Jade10, for the info on Costco program. You are saving me a lot of needless hassle and waste of time. I am being so helped my this discussion group!
  • jade10jade10 Member Posts: 9
    More specifics:

The vehicle: a 2004 EX-V6 Sedan without navigation.

The Costco program apparently requires that you speak with an Authorized Costco Auto Program contact, and that you make an appointment to meet with the contact at the designated dealership...You cannot get a quote over the phone. Anyway, it is possible that the Auto Program terms for a specific vehicle vary from region to region.

The Pittsburg dealer contacted me after I already had purchase a accord from another dealer:

    Here's what he quoted:

    EX-L 4 cyl: $22K
    EX V6: $24K

Note: I forgot to ask if price included the destination charge.
  • jade10jade10 Member Posts: 9
Carsdirect.com lists the invoice price for the EX-V6 Sedan with navigation at $26,011...without navigation the invoice is $24,213... http://www.auto.consumerguide.com and http://www.carsdirect.com are the only two sources of invoice pricing that I am aware of at this time.

I bought the car at Bedford Honda here in Westchester,ny. Good luck to all shopping for a good deal. Any questions feel free to email me chris2523@rcn.com

    Final word...
Given our experience with a local Western Washington dealership referred to us by the Costco auto program (see message #2667), we queried the program directly to see if the kind of discount offered to us was typical in our area for the EX-V6 Sedan...apparently it is not. The member advocate I spoke with out of San Diego said the Costco price should have been $1000 over invoice, not $100 under MSRP as we were quoted. A side note: another local dealer would have been happy to sell us a car for $1000 over invoice without any discount program in effect.
  • gatrhumpygatrhumpy Member Posts: 126
I just got a quote for a 2003 Accord EX V6 without navigation. The "out the door" price was $24,000. I thought this is a great deal. The only thing I'm unstatisfied with is the color, as I wanted it in either Blue or Silver. I am applying for 72 month financing at 4.5% through USAA, not too bad!
  • bob_at_aolbob_at_aol Member Posts: 1
I guess Costco has different arrangements with different dealers. In Brooklyn, NY the negotiated price is $100 over dealer invoice for either a 2003 or 2004 Accord EX-V6.

I bought a 2003 Accord EX-V6 for $23,200 before title, taxes and options.

Congrats on the car chipper. Hope you took advantage of that free ice cream ... I know I did :)

Gray was one of our top choices but after trading a black Accord I just wanted something lighter that would hide dirt. I am happy with the silver but gray or blue would have been nice as well.

    Hi all,
Looking to pick up an '04 accord coupe. My question is, how are the taxes calculated when you trade something in? Do you get taxed for the entire purchase price or puchase price minus trade in? Any help is appreciated. Thanks..

I bought a Honda Accord LX Coupe from Mile Hi Honda in Denver. TMV is 19,017. I paid 19,855 + taxes of 1079 or so, gap insurance of 405. doc fee 289 and about $2375 of negative equity from my trade-in. I ended up financing 24,000 at 2.9%. Of course the dealer says I got a good deal, but I keep thinking I could have done a little better deal. They gave me more for my trade than other dealerships (I did shop around). I always have buyer regret after buying cars. Please advise.
