Wow, surprised at Costco - even a few months ago 500 over invoice on a 2010 was an awful price on an Oddy.

AUTONATION, in the SouthEast has 91, 2010 Honda Ody's in stock, check their website at www.autonation.com

Thanks for the response - I appreciate it.

Anyone else would like to comment on 34500 for 2011 Odyssey EX-L with nav (including destination but not TTL).

    Thanks,
    Osho

You should be able to negogiate 10% off msrp

That is a good price. I was quoted invoice but dealer did not have any car. Wanted a deposit before he would track the car for me !
Bought EX-L with NAV yday from another dealer for invoice plus $500 in my color choice, black.
  • gbitgbit Member Posts: 10
Most of the dealers here (CA) are quoting MSRP. Where did you get Invoice + $500.

    Hi

I have a quote for 2011 Odyssey EX-L for 32,330 including destination from a dealer in NJ. The same dealer gave a quote of $33,792 for EX-L w/RES (incl destination).

The invoice on EX-L according to KBB is: 31,982 (31,202 + 780 destination). So the price is about $350 over invoice.

What do you guys think? Is this a good deals?

I am not entirely sold on paying $1,400 extra for rear entertainment, but my friends are telling me it is better to get it from the manufacturer than aftermarket. Do you guys think aftermarket products mess up the look and safety?

Good deals are only with internet pricing. Here is what I did ......went to cars.com and selected the trim/options/color. cars.com would display the availability with dealer name. Also the website gives you option to request quote(3 at the max at a time). So now, only dealers with stock in hand contacted with the price and typically most of them are ready to beat the quote from another dealership. Then I send the lowest quote to the dealer nearest to my place who had stock and they came close. By the way, I am NJ.

What is going on? After waiting for USAA to finally have the 2011 quote, today they are no longer quoting for 2011, it just comes up with a message to contact your local dealer for a price! Is it just my area or is everyone else getting this message today? You would think as we are in a recession these dealers would want to sell the cars not just have them sit on the lot. Both my local dealers havent sold one yet (though they wont admit that but I can see there inventory hasnt changed) but they still insist they are worth sticker.....so frustrating!
  • fixmixfixmix Member Posts: 11
Don't give up. Get below invoice or delay it - it is just a matter of time. USAA had it once at $3000 off of MSRP and the next day it was all gone. Not sure why or what happened. But for me, am going to hold on for a while. Prices will drop.

I live in pleasanton and last week a few dealers in the east bay were willing to sell me the car at $750 over invoice but they didn't have the color that we wanted. But yes, other dealers were also quoting me MSRP + TTL.

Anyone else have any luck in the bay area?
  • gbitgbit Member Posts: 10
Can you tell me which dealers in east bay quoted 750 over invoice.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
I used to have to deal with other stores that would quote prices on cars they didn't have and coudn't get. Soemtimes, I think they just did this to mess up the market because they were frustrated they didn't have the inventory.

We wouldn't do dealer trades with stores that did that.

No, I haven't visited there yet. It's far and I'm only willing to do the drive once I know the total price. I'll post any updates. I am starting to get calls from dealers in the Philly area that there is more supply and the pricing could be better than original quotes....we will see!

Did you go to Garden State Honda? If yes, how did it go?
  • ody11lxody11lx Member Posts: 8
I got the same offer from them, they refuse to put it in writing, making me very suspicious. I was curious about visiting until I read your post. They are about 1 hour drive from me but I do not want to waste time with jokes.

Quality will vary on aftermarket entertainment systems.

I just cringe at the thought of some 19 year old installer cutting into the wiring of my 35,000 Odyssey and splicing in some aftermarket system. They may do a good job and maybe not.

If I really felt I HAD to have an entertainment system I think I would just go with a portable unit that plugs into the power outlet. These aren't expensive at all and they work pretty well.

Not in bay area, this was at Kenosha WI. I was inquiring about 2010, but they have sold out of it. Instead they were eager to sell me the 2011 for $300 above invoice even though I have no interest in it. Just a FYI.

Regarding RES, it depends if you can live with the cheap ones that hang over the seats, or you can buy 2-3 IPads/PSP/whatever to keep the kids entertained.
  • gbitgbit Member Posts: 10
Wow, $300 over invoice is still way better than MSRP demanded by Bay Area dealers.
  • pillowheadpillowhead Member Posts: 5
Got a quote for $29,775, includes Dest, + TTL, doc fee was only $55.

2010 EX-L, no accesories, what do ya think????

gbit - are u in the SF Bay Area? I'm going to start shopping for a 2011 this weekend. What have you found out so far?

Pulling trigger tonight. Husband emailed many local dealers and played them against and got down to 33,300 with $95 doc fee and TTL. Most dealers are ready to deal! Madison, WI

I got this from Garden State honda.
I am at this dealer now closing on 2011 EX-L W/RES for 33,782. OTD price is: 36,862.00

I was looking to trade a 03 civic, but they low-balled me, offered 3K. Decided to not do the trade.
  • gbitgbit Member Posts: 10
Everyone around the area is quoting only MSRP.
  • bmwx5mbmwx5m Member Posts: 9
    39798 -- vehicle + destination
    2487 -- tax
    150 -- title, tags, inspection
    304 -- docs
    298 -- commission
    43038 -- OTD

Although the commission and docs are a little out of line, the overall deal is awesome -- $430 over invoice if commission and docs are zero.

So I live in Oklahoma and want to purchase a Touring Elite asap. Only one of these has shown up in the state as of yesterday. I drove it,(Black in color). I prefer the polished metal exterior but did enjoy the Truffle interior in the Black one. The blasted side mirrors/rear fairing on the lighter colors just does not look right to me. The dealership would "give it away" for full MSRP but would not negotiate down from there. So I widened my search thinking I would find a reasonable dealership within a few hours drive. I call a dealership in Mckinney, TX that has the color I want and he says they will sell it for full retail plus "addendum" instead of adding a "Market adjustment" of 2K like they did in 2005 with the last model change. I asked him what the addendum was and he said every new Honda on the lot got one and it included tint, rear mud guards, pinstripe, trunk mat and wheel locks all for the low low price of only $2,800! Yes folks, only $2,800 gets you about $400 in accessories. I about fell out of my chair, and to hear the guy explain it made me wonder how he sleeps at night. The next closest one in my color is about 600 miles away. So I guess I will give up for now until more elites come into my area and the dealers get a clue. This would have been the 4th new Honda I would have purchased in 6 years. I guess nobody wants my business.

I am also in the Dallas area and McKinney offered about $500 off MSRP on a Touring. I could get an Elite , but it seems the higher the model, the less they negotiate right now. Let me know what you find. Many of them in the area say they will beat local comptitors by $500.

Bought 2011 Touring which is being built this week and arriving at dealership in a couple of weeks. Did lots of internet price requests then shopped my trade at those that were willing to deal within a 50 mile radius. When buying any car and you're trading something in you have to look at cash difference as others have noted. I used to sell cars and know that a dealer can low ball you on the new car to get you in and then make up the difference by under valuing the trade. I'd have paid sticker for the new car if they gave me silly money for my trade. I did however shop hard and got $1000 below clean NADA Trade In for my trade which was about $400 less than the best of 6 other dealers, most of whom weren't as aggressive on the new car. You could argue it was worth clean value if I'd shopped even more so I adjust below. Deal is as follows:

    MSRP: 41,535 (including dest)
    Invoice: 37,683
    Price: 36,067
    Doc Fee: 239
    Total: 36,306
    Plus Trade Adjustment: 1,000
    Net: 37,306
    + Tax, Title & Plates

Worst case view is $377 below invoice when you include all fees. Very happy with deal and dealership which I'll share after delivery.

This sounds really good..I don't have a trade in and am getting the following quote for a 2011 Touring : 38400 (incl. desitnation). This doesn't include doc fee - which is about 300. Is this a good deal?

    Thanks,
    Osho

We're noticing a decent inventory remaining of 2010 EX-L with RES and/or NAVI, as well as Tourings. Anyone have a good idea of what the appropriate price point would be, given that the dealers are trying to push the 2011s now? Any sense in waiting until possible additional dealer cash in November on these? It would be good to hear someone's thoughts on this. Thanks.

Most people get the non-RES/NAV at 600-800 below invoice, after rebate. So, I'd go for the low end of the range. They are running out of time, honda corp will make the dealers move out these vehicles, maybe giving more hidden incentives. So, try to push the limit here.

The saleperson's job is to stretch the customer and convince them to pay more than intended, regardless of how big the margin is. So, before you go in, educate yourself on the bottom line price (invoice - holdback), honda corp agenda to maintain market share (even if it means selling it cheaper), how the economy/market trends are against them, and use it to your advantage.

Don't believe in buying at msrp, we are not in 2000 anymore. They will break, or else Honda Corp will make them.

Hi, I am trying to buy 2011 Honda Odyssey EX-L with RES. Please let me know the dealer where you are purchasing Elite, seems to be it is the best deal you are getting.

Thanks for your help in advance.
  • ody11lxody11lx Member Posts: 8
So you paid $361 above invoice with no trade-in. That sounds like a great deal.

Did you lease, finance, or write a check?
  • bogohobogoho Member Posts: 24
doc fee is $50 in some places, and 500 in others, take that into consideration.

I have received the following offers that include the $780 Destination on a 2010
Touring - $35,500 + tax, title and fees
EXL RES/Navi -32,495 ++ tax, title and fees

I am holding out to get a Touring at 35K,
  • gbitgbit Member Posts: 10
I am also tempted to go with 2010. Was wondering if the difference between 2010 and 2011 is worth the $$$.
  • mainemomoftwomainemomoftwo Member Posts: 2
I've been quoted $1000 over invoice for an EXL (without RES/NAV) and was given $7700 for my 2004 Volvo XC70 which is the "fair" condition price on KBB/NADA. It does need 4 new tires. What are peoples thoughts on going with this deal or putting the new tires on for the winter and waiting for better deals in the spring?
  • cheapskate8cheapskate8 Member Posts: 34
$35K for a 2010 Touring is realistic. Many (including myself) bought this month between $34,500 - $35,000. Just make the offer to every dealer who has the color you want and send the email to all at the same time in the "to line" and say "The first one to meet my $35K price I will buy today." You will get a response fast.
  • ody11lxody11lx Member Posts: 8
I could not agree more with you.

    Sept 30 - I was offered $2,200 above MSRP from 1 dealer

One week ago - I was told absolutely not lower than MSRP from many dealers. They are selling like "hotcakes".

Today - had two dealers tripping over each other to sell me at $500 over invoice although they did not have my color in stock. Told me they are willing to get it from other dealers and absorb costs.

Please everyone, HOLD THE LINE. They will crumble - give them a few more weeks to get their act together.

If a customer walks in thinking he is going to be faced with "sleazy tricks and lies", they are probably shopping for a new car.

    Most places are like that.
