Pavjav, I am in CT..what I did was work them so that they actually bring you out their invoice. Make your offer and walk...TODAY is the last day of their fiscal year...Go in today and you'll get a steal!! Trust me...they will follow you out the door. It's actually comical.
Well, a couple months ago I started looking at cars. I went to Peninsula Infiniti in Redwood City, CA to look at G35s and tested an auto (all they had, but no way I'd buy a fast car like this and not get a stick...) Anyway, at the time the dealer said they were on 4 month back order for sticks. I had some financial issues with getting my down payment built up and put things off. Maybe 3, 4 weeks ago, he called back and said that if I wanted to buy a stick they had one(!) in... he said there were literally like 18 of them available nationwide at the time.
Is this really the case? I'm still not immediately ready to buy (summer time hopefully?) but am curious as to what the lead times are right now. And if they're that backlogged I assume that getting any kind of deal on a 6sp is slim to none...
Sorry if this has been covered before...*shakes head in disbelief over edmund's use of one 8000 post thread for this rather than having it split up*
Are you looking at the Coupe or Sedan? You should be able to get a good deal on a sedan. A buddy of mine got a 6MT sedan for $150 over. Coupes are another story. Also, if you need to wait until the summer, hang off for a few extra weeks. The 2005 model will have an upgraded interior and possibly some exterior improvements.
asanks - just in case you missed it, there is a very handy "Search This Discussion" option on the page bar. But you are asking a question that needs to be answered in the present - and even if you weren't, it's no big deal. :-)
new 03? not 04, right? If so, it should be way below invoice as it could be up to two years old. The 03 model year started in March 2002 and went until about Sep. 2003. Check the build date when you open the driver's door.
I am eligible for this but am not close enough to buying to get my PIN number from Nissan. The formula on the website is somewhat confusing. They say the price is 1.87% below invoice but then it says add 2.5% to this price for "delivery fee" plus "marketing assessment as applicable." This would appear to get the price back up to over invoice. Has anyone here used the VPP discount? If so, what was the actual price compared to invoice? Thanks.
The VPP price can get a little confusing. Generally, it works out around $200-$300 over invoice. Nowadays you should be able to get a better price than that on any Infiniti, except the Coupe and QX56 maybe, by negotiating.
I met a guy last night and test drove him Platinum/Willow 2003 6MT Coupe with Aero and Premium Package, Brembo Brakes. Car looked pristine only had 17K miles. He wants $29K which incl. a 100K warranty from Infiniti. This would be a private deal so no sales tax. One concern was the SAT button which he said did not work in any 03 cars due to a factory defect. Is this true? He had hooked his XM through the cigarette lighter which looked tacky, wires going through the cassette. I probably won't subscribe but would like the option later. Plus I don't want something broken on my new-used car.
Also, I test drove a broker's Lexus GS 430 2001 Black/Black with 27K miles for $33K. I am only considering because wife does not want a stick.
Buy the G and save for the sales tax which i thought was due upon registgering the vehicle. If you care about perfmance the GS is soft - but if you want a softer lexus like ride the 430 is the way to go.
XM and cirrius can be itegrated into the head unit by the dealer..no need for tacky.
It is easy to search dealer inventory of sedan 6MTs on the infiniti.com website (choose "build and locate"). My experience is that there are virtually no sedan 6MTs available in the southern CA area but that a fair # can be found in northern CA. I ended up ordering one in February from Peninsula because I wanted a very specific configuration (diamond graphite with no options) and had time on my side. Final price was $28,300 and I expect delivery by the end of the month (April). No doubt could have gotten a better deal relative to MSRP/invoice by taking something from dealer inventory but in the end I would have been more out of pocket for options that I didn't want -- e.g., without any cajoling whatsoever Pleasanton offered to sell me a loaded 6MT for invoice.
For big inventory of sedan 6MTs check the dealership in Elk Grove (near Sacramento). According to the inventory report on infiniti.com they've got five or six in stock right now, presumably for a fair price.
I bought a 2004 g35x with Premium Package with Full-size Spare Tire wood package splash guards and trunk mat and had a rear spoiler put on I paid $33,500 in brooklyn ny! {pearl white}
I have pretty much decided that I like the G35 coupe with the premium/sports/nav packages. Currently live in Chicago, will be moving to Minneapolis in 6-7 weeks. I'm being told by salesmen that there just aren't any more of these cars left. Has anyone bought one of these beauties lately and can help out with likely best price (especially here in the midwest)?
in short supply compared to the sedan. The dealer in Fort Wayne had 15 sedans and only 4 coupes a couple weeks ago. Have you checked Infiniti of Lisle? They have a huge inventory according to their website.
We visited Infiniti of Willow Grove (PA) last weekend and saw rows of gorgeous G35 coupes. Sorry we are so far from your market! We have not driven the car yet but the curb appeal is off the charts. Looks like it's moving when standing still! Good luck.
Go to Infiniti of Orland Park. I just purchased a '04 Coupe Diamond Graphite w/graphite interior including premium, sport and aero packages. They also installed a remote starter at a reasonable price. I love the coupe I've been waiting 2 years to purchase this car!!! Best coupe out there for the price!!!
Yeah. You're right. It was the principal for the thing. I used it as a negotiating tool with Nalley and they were willing to do the same, except they did not have the car I wanted. In order for them to do it, I had to choose from something on the lot.
I have a buddy in Philly who I wanted to visit, so it really wasn't a problem.
Does anyone know FOR CERTAIN when new 2005 6MT sedans are coming out?
I'm thinking of ordering a 2004 to get exactly what I want, but it takes 90 days. If new 6-speeds are really coming out in September, I might just wait.
But Infiniti released the AWD mid-year; not sure they're on the same schedule as more run-of-the-mill cars...
no one knows yet when the 05s will be out. Last year, IIRC the first ordering for 04s was the first week of June (it's the first week of every month) since some people got their cars in late August (June order = July build = late Aug or Sept delivery.) IMO it's safe to assume that it won't be before then, but we don't know.
Could any one tell me when the 05's models for the G35 sedan are expected to come out? Also if I try leasing a 04' model when the 05's come out what type of deal should I expect to get?
Do you (or anyone else on this post) have a sense of whether negotiating power is worse, better, or about the same if you order from the first batch of the new model year?
Yes, this discussion is specifically for G35 buyers to post what they paid and how their purchase experience unfolded.
Other G35 conversation is best placed elsewhere. We have several discussions which would be good places for this recent conversation to resume - use the make/model search on the left side of the page to get a list of all of them.
I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I am trying to purchase G35 4dr Sedan with Premium Pkg. with full spare, NAV System,Splash Guards,Trunk Mats. Color Diamond Graphite. Dealer is giving me 32,942 which is invoice price with all those options plus $750 over Invoice. I think I could get 750 down to perhaps 400-450 but couple other fees I am not understanig and I was hopping if you guys can help me. Fee Tint Windows $299 Fee LEX Paint Protection $125 Fee (Doc Fee) $300
Are these fee legitimate or I am just being worked so I end up spending more over Invoice.
I Still Have to pay Tax and Plate and All in total would be around $37,559 out the Door. One More thing I am putting down $15,000
I think that is a great price but you dont need paint protection he is just trying to make a few dollars!! as far as the tint he is charging about $150 to much!! good luck with your new car!!
Consider your trade in as cash. If you look at the sales contract, you have the total price of the automobile (which includes the cost of the car, sales tax, registration fees, doc fees, etc.). At the bottom of the contract is your final cost less your trade in. The government always gets the maximum amount of taxes.
ronin - I might just be reading your post wrong, but in NY the value of the trade-in comes off of the negotiated sales price BEFORE tax is calculated, so you are effectively reducing the taxable sale price of the car. So, if you buy a $30k car and trade in a $15k car, the net taxable amount is $15k. Probably the biggest advantage to trading in. Of course, still doesn't net you as much as selling it on your own, but it could save you $1k or more in taxes.
In Indiana, you pay sales tax on the transaction price which is the car price less trade. IOW, if the agreed on price is $30,000 and you have a $10,000 trade, you pay sales tax on $20,000. It may be different in different states.
Thanks for your help. I am hopping that more people would contribute and maybe I will end up buying. I love the car but don't need it immediately so maybe I will just take my time and see if they cave in to better deal.
Are the windows actually titnted and do you want the tint? $299 is a bit steep. $150 to $200 would be more realistic. Ditto for paint protection. Does the paint protection come with any warrenty. Is there proof it has actually been done? The doc fee is way over the top. The standard fee is $45 and that is what I paid on my Infiniti. Personally, I'd walk. $500 without all these add ons should be realistic.
Thanks. I can see now what they are trying to do. I thought that all those fees were not really what was needed. I did not ask for any proof. I was going to ask for proof if I decided to buy. This makes sense because all those fees plus $300 doc fee seemed to me too high. In addition they quoted me 750 over invoice which I am not willing to pay. I might just wait and see what happens. Thank you
I posted a message earlier about G35 4Dr Sedan. I am Purchasing this car in Scottsdale AZ Nav System, Premium PKG. w/full spare, splash guards, trunk mat. Dealer asked for Invoice $32,942 Tint Fee $299 Lex Paint Protection $125 Over Invoice $750 Total Before Taxes $34,116 MSRP $36,010 Taxes $2627 Plate $516 Doc Fee $300 Total out the door $37,559 This to me did not seem like good deal. Tint windows they claimed they need to do since G35 don't come tinted and I will need it. Hmm Not sure about that. LEX Paint Protection $125 Yes I am in ARIZONA HOT but shouldn't Infiniti Cover this. Sounds like a scam. $300 DOC fee give me a break That is way too much. Anyway I said NO to this and Walked out. Next day Salesman calls me and says that If they did not Tint the windows and they take off another $200 I would be saving additional $500. I still did not like it. Those anyone know exactly if Infiniti does window tinting as standard or is it optional and also LEX paint protection shouldn't that be a standard option. If I buy a new car I expect the paint on it to be protected without me having to pay for it to be protected. Finally DOC fee $300 what in the world are they doing if it costs that much. When I test drove the car for the second time salesman said that coupes were on demand and that it is harder to get a good deal on them and that sedans are better for price negotiations. Shortly after we started talking about the deal he said that sedans were on demand. What happened here. How soon before G35 '05 are to come out? Like I said earlier I am putting down $15,000 and I would get infiniti Financing for 1.9%. Can you guys let me know what to do here. Thanks
The G35 comes with a light tint as standard. Also, the glass is UV reducing - useful in AZ and here in the California Desert (98F today!). Infiniti DO NOT offer any tint options. If this dealer is offering tint then they are doing it themselves or sub-contracting it to a local tint shop. Paint is covered by the Infiniti warrenty although some protection in a harsh climate probably isn't a bad idea in a hot climate. However, I would get this done yourself. The doc fee of $300 is ridiculous as I said previously. $45 to $50 is the norm. As far as demand goes, the Coupes are a lot more in demand than the Sedans although the supply situation on the Coupes is easing. You may want to consider contacting some Internet departments of dealers in southern California. Sedans have been selling for $100 to $250 over invoice without all the nonsense you've been subjected to. Also, if you are a Costco member, try that approach. Good luck and keep us updated!
I'll just add that any dealer add-ons are almost pure profit for the dealer. Doc fees in my area (Indiana) are now running close to $100 at most dealers. Everything is negotiable. It all gets down to how bad you want the car.
Thank you for your help I will look into Southern Cali Market to see if I can get anything over there. The problem with me is that I am looking for specific color combination with NAV System and it seems like that is hard to get.
Ok, here's what I did. I used the Consumer Reports pricing report for the invoice. I sent faxes to 8 dealers in the Atlanta area. I got 4 replies. I had 3 bidding for my business. This is the outcome:
G35 Coupe Diamond Graphite Willow Interior Premium Package Trunk Mat
Troncalli Nissan in Decatur, Georgia was the winner with $31704, plus tax, tag, title. From the CR pricing, I paid right about 5% over invoice of $30271. That was the best deal I could find on the coupe in the Atlanta area. I got great financing too.
By edmunds calculations, a G35 coupe with leather, automatic, premium package and trunk mat would be $34460 MSRP & $31607 invoice. Is your's the cloth model?? I have yet to see one of those on a dealers lot.
Hello, I am looking for a G35 6 MT in Carribean Blue. In Florida, all I can find is Twilight blue which is almost black. The dealer said he thougth they were no longer making Carribean Blue. I also would like the premium package but without the sunroof to give a bit more headroom. Again I am told this is not possible. I appreciate any experience others have had with either topic.

is what happened last year, and is our unofficial guide for this year.

not what the next year model's will look like!
