I'm looking to buy in Socal as well, maybe if we buy two we can get a better deal? what do you think? if interested email me back on oz6500@yahoo.com....I reside in LA
Does yours have the wood trim too? That's a $450 option, so our prices are about in the same ballpark (mine with wood). A good deal on a nice car. I'm still waiting for the dealer to track down my model/color/options so I can take possession. Hopefully by the end of the week.
Living in WI, I can't find any dealer here or in the Chicagoland area to budge very much at all off MSRP for a 35x sedan.
Also, my local dealer is very limited incolor choices. Just curious, my top 2 choices are Liquid Platinum and Black. (Although I haven't actually SEEN the LP yet) I've heard positive comments about Blue Slate, but I can't picture blue looking good on this vehicle?
Wow...that doesn't sound cheap at all. Especially for a coupe. Putting that much down for 2 years doesn't sound worth it to me. Those cars should be going for invoice at best with the G37 on the way.
Yes, if you will take an 07 coupe there are dealers who will lease it to you on the promo (slightly discounted) lease deals at invoice. Some will do it for invoice including the dealer "doc" fees. Pickings are getting slim at some dealerships and the closer we get to G37 time the few cars will be left but the deals may get sweeter. For leases though, those usually go away some time after the new model comes out and so you may can only get cheap loans and no more good leases if you wait too long.
Last year, right before the 07 G35 sedans launched they had a 24 month promo lease with 0.00001 and 66% for 12k per year and .00087 and 56% for 36 month 12k per year on the left over 2006 sedans to move them out. We may see something similar right as/after the G37 hits. That is some cheap money.
I just picked up a G35 Journey (premium, nav, wood trim, tire package) at Infiniti of Thousand Oaks for $500 over invoice. Went through the internet fleet department where the guys were absolutely great. No pressure whatsoever and pleasant the entire time. Was really surprised that they didn't even try to upsell me during the closing (e.g. extended warrantee, 3M, etc.). Also no hidden fees.
All in all an enjoyable transaction. I would HIGHLY recommend giving them a chance to bid on your business (even though it is a bit of a drive to get out there).
I got a G35s Sedan with every option on it Didn't actually need everything, but wanted most of them and it was the only way for me to get one in stock with my must haves! I was on the VPP Plan C so my deal is probably different than what most people get since there really is no negotiation. Car ended up about $400 over invoice and then I got the Buy rates for financing on a 36mo/15k lease. I also put down 9 security deposits to drop the MF even more. I paid all of the fees up front and only financed the cap cost of the car, so my payment is $518/month including tax.
Show your dealer the prices the rest of us are getting. There should be enough competition in a major area to get a better price. Just tell dealer A that dealer B is giving 800 over invoice. Do the same with dealer C,D,E etc. Also let them see you with notes and research from Edmunds so they know your wise. Good luck.
All those numbers sound great, except he's quoting me a monthly payment of $548.31 -- when I plug those numbers into a lease calculator, I get $511.48. Am I doing something wrong?
I've been reading about the good Infiniti G35 Journey deals in CA and NY. I live in TX and I want a Platinum Graphite G35 Journey with Premium Package and XM Satellite. Has anyone found a dealer in TX that is selling $500 over invoice? So far all the Houston dealers I've tried to work with can't come close to $500 over invoice.
Please dont get offended, this not directed specifically toward and I know that you have been a member for years. I'm only trying to help;I've been away for a while and have noticed that there are a few of you out there in the socal market looking to purchase. there has been some past discussions about pricing and people have posted there deals for our review. If you are really serious about buying and getting a good deal please do some research. dont expect anyone to just hand you the car at invoice or below. This forum is a great place to start doing the research. Take some time and go back a month or two and read about the pricing in socal. You can do a search and it will narrow it down for you. I got mine a little over a month ago and got it for 750 over invoice from Montclair. you can find my post with the specifics and my experience posted sometime in early may. someone also posted their experience from Montclair in late may and there pricing. In fact it was his hint that made me get a price quote from them and it worked out for me. Others have posted their deals from thousand oaks and the other services they include. one posted a deal in san diego and I was close to taking a drive out there myself. We are lucky enough to live in an area with multiple infiniti dealers in our area within 50 miles of each other and it works to our advantage. Those in Texas from what i've read are not so lucky and are forced to pay higher prices. What troubles me is when i read a post of someone saying that they want a good price or where they can get a good price from when there has been multiple links about pricing and experiences just a few posts back. We are here to help and I have expressed my thanks to all you helped me with my first new car purchase. I guess what I'm trying to say is take the time to read some previous posts. You will find that they will be very helpful and again, this is a great site and we are here to help each other out
I don't know if the dealership was highly profitable or not, but the "Englewood" autogroup has a number of dealerships in the same town, so maybe they really wanted it. Park Ave on the other hand is mostly in Rochelle Park - maybe they are looking to open up a new one there? :shades:
Sorry if I breached etiquette -- many people seem to post "pricing/buying experience" questions in the "leasing" forum, and vice versa.
Also, since it appears that some people contribute to/read one forum over another, it seemed like I could get the collective wisdom of a larger group of folks if I posted to both forums.
dwynne, thanks for your informative answer in the leasing forum.
I am not the thread police, but I did try to answer your question over there - then saw the same question here. It just easier to have a "conversation" if we all post in the same place.
As to your deal, as I just posted over there - if you get the $450 charge explained I would say you have a good deal, but consider the 39 month as well
FWW, one dealer is wanting to charge me $300 for locating a 6mt w/tech pack. If I factor in gas and/or a plane ticket $300 does not sound so bad, does it?
First, let me just say thanks for everyone's posting of prices and experiences.
I have been shopping for a G35 Coupe for some time now. The best price I have been able to find is $300 under invoice. Now, should dealerships also take the $1500 incentive off of this for a total of $1800 under invoice?
Did you check the Edmunds incentives page to see what, if any, incentive is offered where you live? For me, it shows $1,500 in dealer money for the 07 coupes - but that may or may not be nationwide.
Assuming it is, the dealer has factored this in when they gave you the quote. At times it can be hard to get a rock-bottom deal on an Infiniti - most of the dealers just do not mark them down a lot. The dealer may be making about what they normally do on a coupe sale and they are passing the incentive along - since they may have quotes $1,200 over invoice to you without it.
The VPP price is $250-300 over invoice LESS any dealer incentives. So if you worked for a company that was a Nissan partner or had a friend/relative that worked for Nissan you could get the coupe for $1,500 less on a cash or loan deal.
The 08 coupe is coming in August and it is much, much nicer. Smart dealers would take anything they can get TODAY on an 07 to get it off the lot before the 08 arrives.
Keep in mind if you do the sort-of-cheap lease the incentive does not apply. If they will lease you the car for $300 under using the discounted IFS lease numbers - that would be a nice deal.
D PLAN Dealer invoice Minus VPP discount (Nissan 2.87% : Infiniti 1.65%) Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, Infiniti Extended Protection Plan, etc. Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted Plus destination and handling charge Minus applicable incentives Equals participant's purchase price
The way I read that, if where you live the dealer has the $1,500 incentive then you find the invoice less destination, take off 1.65%, add dealer options, if any, add back 2.5%, add in destination, then take off the $1,500 = your price.
The incentive applies to purchased or financed cars (or 3rd party bank leases) and not to IFS leases.
Not sure if that is what he was saying...but if it's a manufacturer to dealer incentive you can factor that in to try to get a below invoice price since they are still going to make money. I.E. if they have $1500 dealer cash and you negotiate $1200 under invoice they still make $300 profit. Realistically though, the car can still command a bit of profit so if they quoted you $300 under invoice already they probably factored in the dealer cash so you get it below invoice and they still make a little cash.
That *IS* what I am saying - and I called the VPP folks to confirm it.
You take the invoice less destination, take off 1.65%, add on any dealer installed options, add on 2.5% of this new amount, then take off any dealer and/or customer incentives.
So on a MY07 G35 coupe there is $1,500 dealer money, so your VPP price for a purchase, finance, or non-IFS lease will be about $280 over invoice less $1,500 or $1,220 UNDER invoice price. If you opt for an IFS lease, then it would be the about $280 number. I found several deals that would IFS lease me the coupe at invoice, so the VPP price would actually be higher than I could get on my own. "In theory" the dealer that would lease me the coupe for invoice would sell it to me for invoice - $1,500. When I ran the number for a 3rd party bank lease at $1,500 off VS IFS at invoice, the IFS lease was a better deal.
This should all be non-negotiable from any dealer that honors VPP. Just find one that has the car you want, charges little or no doc fee, and honors VPP pricing.
There is a employee price (plan A), employee's immediate family (plan , friend or extended family (plan C), and suppliers / business associates (plan D). For plans A-C you have work for Nissan/Infiniti, have an immediate family member that does, or know someone who does (or know someone who knows someone). For plan D you have to work for someone who supplies Nissan/Infiniti or has a business relationship with them. Lots of companies listed, like Chase auto finance, dental insurance companies, State of Michigan, etc.
If you don't know anyone, then plan D would be your only choice. You can look for your employer at this link to see if you qualify.
There appears to be no limit on the number of plan C codes generated by a single employee. At one time Grubbs Infiniti in TX would sell cars to anyone for VPP if they were a member of a certain online forum. I assume they either had permission from Nissan or just had permission from a single employee and a copy of their ID badge. The GM that was doing this at Grubbs is no longer there and I don't think they are doing this any longer. It is possible some other dealer(s) would do this as well, but I have no idea who this could be.
As was mentioned, you probably can do as well/better on a coupe without the VPP code. On a sedan, others have reported prices pretty close to VPP prices - but it depends on the dealer and how much they are motivated to move a car. The nice part about VPP is you just tell them you have a VPP claim code and if they accept them there on that car (dealer's option, not obligated) then there is no negotiation. They do get to charge you a "doc" fee and you to pay (or negotiate) for any dealer installed accessories on the car you choose. So picking a dealer with no or low doc fee and one that does not put a lot of mop and glow on the cars means a good price with 0 hassle.
you could be right...i know they are in new jersey. i had an okay time purchasing. the internet manager was the best. everyone else was so-so...i did have issues with the service area. and they keep changing the spelling of my name and mailing address. that is really strange and i wonder if they have done this to anyone else.
it makes be think that something fishy is going on....
$700 over invoice is not bad at all - as long as you are talking about a SEDAN and the dealer "doc" fee is not too high. I have seen folks post better prices by a bit, but a lot of buyers would love to have that as the dealer's offer.
I've been driving an ES 330 for over a year and I have come to loathe the car. The ECT just plain sucks. There is just no power when you hit the accelerator. I use DBW extensively just to keep it out of "overdrive" unless I am at cruising speed on the freeway. I'm looking forward to dumping the Lexus real soon now. I have never traded in a vehicle with 20K miles in my life. Just get the G. I will.
Paid less than $500 over invoice for a loaded G35S with Premium, Nav, Tech, and Spoiler. MSRP was $40,465, paid $37,300. With taxes and all, it was still less than MSRP.
Just picked up my G35 Journey with Premium, Nav, tech package, splashguards and "cargo net" for about 500 over invoice here in the southeast. Not a bad deal and this is without any of this VPP/VIP financing deals. Those guys don't offer any deals on financing as well. Love the car so far, much happier I got it over the TL or Audi.
I test drove the very same car last week - I am looking for a 6mt w/tech and they had a base 6mt and the tech journey so I drove both.
Even without the tire package drove pretty nice, the auto is DS mode amazed me with its auto-downshifting when I slower for corners. The tech package is my must have, love the cruise and the camera. Have not driven one at night to try the headlights, but that is icing on the cake.
I love the looks of the TL but less power and FWD takes it off my list.
What colors did you get? Any dealer doc or prep fees on top of the $500? You might name the dealer (but not the salesperson) so that others in your area will know where to look for a good deal.
Just wanted to let everyone know about my recent experience in Southern California. Spent the last 2 months researching the vehicle and dealers, and finally picked up my 2007 G35 Sport with Premium and Navigation, cargo net, spoiler, and painted splash guards for $300 over invoice. Spoke with many dealerships in SoCal and ended up getting the best offer from Infiniti of Mission Viejo's internet department. MSRP $39,355; Invoice 35,933, price paid 36,233. The whole transaction was done over the internet except for the pickup. Thanks to all in this forum for their advice and guidance.
I was just wondering if anyone else noticed how much better a deal (price-wise) the sedan is that the coupe?
The sedan always seems to way out sell the coupe, yet the coupe is priced a lot higher for the same content. The coupe also enjoys much higher lease residuals and much better real-world resale value.
With the new and "different" G37 coupe coming for 08 direct comparison is not 100% possible, but what is interesting is comparing the newer design sedan against the older designed coupe.
Base sedan invoices for $30,378 with MSRP of $32,965 Base coupe is $32,028 and $34,765 - $1,650 more at invoice.
The more common premium pack sedan is $32,403 the premium pack coupe invoices at $34,484 or $2,081 more.
Even given the current coupe's $1,500 in dealer money, the sedan at invoice is less money. In past years this got you essentially the same car (same power, same tranny, same options, same wheelbase, same weight). For 2007 you get more power and the same economy and the upgraded interior, nicer sound system, available tech package, etc.
Sure the G37 coupe will trump the G35 sedan by offering more power and the same options, but at how much higher a cost?
It would seem Infiniti wants to undercut the BMW and other luxo-sport brand's prices on the sedan but does not feel the need (Lexus and Acura have no v-6 coupes to compete?) on the G35 coupe - so they just sell the same car with 2 less doors for more money :confuse: .
The color I purchased was the Blue Slate which is the one I wanted and this happened to be on the lot(only 9 miles though) so Im sure that took a little off the price. Liquid platinum looks pretty sharp too. The doc fee was 450 on top of what I paid, but most people don't take that into consideration as this is universal so if you want to count it, I paid around 950 over invoice. No prep fee. The dealer is in Jacksonville, FL so the nearest competition is Orlando and Atlanta which means essentially no competition. The staff was the best I dealt with in my travels to buy a car though, knew everything about the car without having to look stuff up.
After having the car for a week my thoughts are as follows. Not sure which features fall into which categories off the top of my head but here goes.
Tech package-the rear camera is the best, the headlights that move before the car do are also pretty handy. The laser guided cruise sounds interesting but havent had the chance to test it in the real world. Blue tooth is the best and great quality(downside is my verizon phonebook cant be downloaded or accessed via voice. The compass in the rearview mirror is overkill and the garage buttons on the rearview I find to be bushleague (should have been integrated next to the sunroof button) Two words: memory seats!
Premium sound pumps pretty loud. not sure entirely necessary as im not one of those guys who is super into stereos. Just for kicks the dial should go to eleven instead of ten.
Nav is overrated and I find distracting. Maybe Ill get more out of it in the future. The voice activation though can be key if I can take the time to learn the exact commands as opposed to winging it. I like the music box feature a lot but the rear disc changer is inconveniently located and is just one large piece of luggage away from getting busted.
Would love to have not gotten the NAV, kept the voice activation and music box and gotten Sirius over XM(I believe the NAV requires XM for the traffic feature)
Love this car. Cant wait to drive to work tomorrow.
Thanks for all the info, even with the doc fee you got a nice deal. I tell folks to always include the car+dest+doc fee when they post a price - as (believe it or not) there are some dealers who do not charge one - or charge a smaller fee.
I played with the "laser" cruise on test drives and it works quite well, though you only get a few (3?) ranges to set. You are motoring at 75mph, let us say, and some left lane bandit comes over in front of you doing say 60mph it drops the speed and matches/maintains the set distance. When the FINALLY get over out of your way it resumes your 75mph cruise. You still have to hit the brakes if they come over to close, but otherwise it is very nice.
Ditto on the backup camera - it is awesome! I back one car in under the carport and it will come in very handy at night (now that I am getting old).
I have had 2 OEM NAV systems - in a BMW M5 and in my RX-8 and both do not work/cover nearly as well as a $200 Garmin (I have several Garmin GPS units). I swore I would never buy another OEM NAV system again - but I love the tech package on the G, so it is required. The older G NAV could not be controlled by buttons when the car is moving, I assume the new one is the same way - voice commands only when in motion. It would be a lot easier if they would just put up a "don't mess with this while driving, if you do it is not out fault" message when you start up each time. A pain to have to "OK" that, but then you could use the buttons. Most other systems work like this.
The stereo system is awesome for an OEM system - and having the display tied into it makes it simple to find songs. The changer is pretty "dumb" since you have the in-dash MP3/CD changer. the CF card slot reader (max 256 songs on that, though), the music box, and even the aux in jacks in the center console (for ipod, etc). What more do they think you need?
The voice commands are nice and do work the XM, radio, etc and seem to work well in my quick test of them.
I have XM now, so getting it included is nice - but I may end up installing my SkyFi2 in the car anyway and feeding it in the aux in. It has tune select (beeps and shows you when a favorite artist is on a another channel) and a 30 minute pause/rewind feature that I use all the time.
Blue slate is very nice, and I think was new for 07 so you will not see as many on the road.
Any thoughts on this tire insurance Infiniti is offering for around 400 bucks?
Sounds like another high-profit dealer offered "insurance" deal to me. The local BMW dealer and others around here try to sell you a "wheel and tire" insurance package when they sell you a new car. They seem shocked, shocked I say, when you don't take it!
If you are the kind who curbs the wheels from time to time or rips out the sidewalls, etc then it may be for you.
On the other hand, a set of 4 new OEM tires (RE050A on the sport pack cars) will set you back about $800 + shipping from the TireRack (less $100 rebate on a current promotion). Even the journey w/o the tire option is over $600 plus shipping.
In the sports pack sizes there are no other options currently. So you might read the fine print in the warranty and see what it covers and does not
Why not post this question where it will hit the most viewers, on the "Infiniti G35 Coupe / Sedan: Lease Questions" discussion. :confuse: :confuse: :confuse: Z
Sounds like it, but what is the negotiated price of the car? Pretty hard to analyze any deal if you don't state (or don't know) what you are paying for the car. If you get the price including destination and post it along with any dealer or doc fees, then we can check it out.
I posted this in the G35 lease forum, but for those that want to buy.....
I was told this morning that the $1,500 G35 coupe dealer incentive had expired. They replaced it with cheap financing - 0.9% for 36 up to 1.9% for 60 months.
The current Capital One new car rate is 6.15% for 60 months. So if you had done a new coupe for $34,500 ($36,000 less $1,500 incentive) it would be 60 payments of $669.39.
If you did it now at $36,000 and 1.9% it would be $629.43 per month.
So a better deal if you are financing, worse if you were paying cash. May be the same if you are leasing, since the incentive did not apply.

I was just quoted the following deal on a G35 Sport w/ Premium Package:
36 months, 12K/year
MSRP: 37255
Invoice: 34123
Sale Price: 34454
Money Factor: .00158 (buy rate)

D PLAN
Dealer invoice
Minus VPP discount (Nissan 2.87% : Infiniti 1.65%)
Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, Infiniti Extended Protection Plan, etc.
Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted

The way I read that, if where you live the dealer has the $1,500 incentive then you find the invoice less destination, take off 1.65%, add dealer options, if any, add back 2.5%, add in destination, then take off the $1,500 = your price.

Base sedan invoices for $30,378 with MSRP of $32,965
Base coupe is $32,028 and $34,765 - $1,650 more at invoice.
Anyway, just my thought for the day.

Any thoughts on this tire insurance Infiniti is offering for around 400 bucks?
Enjoy!

Nav, Premium, Performance Tire/Wheel Pkg.
MSRP..............$37,515
Price paid........$34,514
I thought $3K under sticker was a good deal.
Purchased through Miller Infiniti, Van Nuys. I had a good experience with the Internet manager Dave Marsh.
