I am also looking in NC. I was told at Lumberton Honda that a 2wd LX was impossible to locate until the 2007s. I hope this is true. I have no need for a 4wd. I am now talking to Goldsboro Honda.

I'm looking for a 4WD EX-L w/ RES. The best quote I've received over the internet is 30,800. Looking at these posts, I should be able to get it down to around 28,800 right? Im near chicago, in NW Indiana.
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
I will be in Reliance to pick my car tomorrow to get my one. I am sure they will find right one for you. I asked EXL AWD with DVD in silver. they don't have right color. But they trade with other local dealer right away and get into their lot by same day.
Just call, ask. You can ask for photo to prove too.
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
In my expirence, depond on dealer. High volum dealer will do. But small one will not. Since differenct FTD incentive.
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
I agree at this point. But my deal will close by tomorrow. By the way, you got is 2WD or 4WD? leather? how much they charge running board. Thanks. :D

I just purchased a 2006 Honda pilot 4WD EX-L w/ NAVI in the Boston area - Taffeta White. Picking it up this week. OTD Price $31,970 included tax, title, plates, destination fee, documentation fees, rear mud flaps, all season mats, wheel locks, running boards, and cross bars. Car has 10 miles on it. I shopped around and this was the best price I could negotiate. What do you think?
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
That's a good price. a running board would cost you around $500, crossbar would be around $100+ and the others that you said usually goes with the car if you ask your salesman, you just have to be firm :D

    "DCH Paramus Honda, Paramus, NJ."

The problem with DCH Paramus Honda is that they won't give a quote online.

They gave me a call and asked me what price are you looking at I told them about the quote I got from Open Honda for a Pilot EX-L with RES for 27,419.00. They told me they can beat it but they won't give me a price unless I'm going to make a deposit of $500!!!?! :confuse: If i'm in new jersey I might go there to there dealership but i'm 1,000 miles away and i won't put in my money on something i'm not certain... :P :P

I also live in Boston area. I am interested in purchasing Honda Pilot as well. It seems like you got a good deal. Could you tell me the name of the dealership? Thank you in advance.
  • firewifefirewife Member Posts: 2
Sure, thanks for your feedback, it was Silko Honda on Rte 44 in Raynham. I feel like I got a lot for my money, but I guess it's human nature to wonder if you could have done even better. Good luck with your negotiations! : )

If you are going to buy in NC, you may not do any better than that. I decided to go with 4WD due to the lack of availablity of 2WD in NC. Found more availibilty in SC and GA. Seems you have to travel to other regions to find 2WD.
  • goose3goose3 Member Posts: 5
Anyone have a quote, receipt or invoice they could e-mail to me showing a great deal on the EX-L 4WD? I can't get a local dealer below $28,200 here in Minneapolis.

They claim this BB is mostly smoke and people aren't getting the deals they're claiming. Sure would appreciate any help ..
  • lisailisai Member Posts: 4
I am being told that it is almost impossible by NC dealers to get a 2wd. Chapel Hill has found 3 in my chosen color for 23,488. I am thinking about going with this. I have been pleased with my interaction with this dealership via the internet. I wonder though she I check out dealers in SC.

This site is awsome. After much research we took delivery of an 06 Pilot EX L with Nav for 29500 this included the crappy rip ya off mud flap and stripes etc accent package.. This is about $ 2650 under invoice . I love the sport of car buying . Burns Honda in Marlton NJ. The only thing that I lost was the "make you wait bait " game. No matter how much I bitched it still took 6 freggin hrs. Thank you Members .
  • bradt2bradt2 Member Posts: 2
    This was a EX L 4X4 with Nav 29500
  • driveindrivein Member Posts: 15
Last week, we got an EX-L AWD with RES [which I don't think you are looking for] for $28,900 including the rear splash guard and all season floor mats. It also included destination. The only thing we really paid on top of that was sales tax [6%]. Not all the dealers we talked to were willing to do that price but I had two who did.
  • cincicarbuyercincicarbuyer Member Posts: 4
I am in the Cinci area and this is exactly what I am looking for (4WD EX). I am also planning to get the tow package (anyone know what that should add to the cost?). I know that the dealer is closed tomorrow. Has anyone confirmed that the dealer incentives go on through July 5?
  • cmoe22cmoe22 Member Posts: 5
Today near Chicago I bought an AWD EX-L w/ RES for 29,300. This was the best I could find after a lot of quotes and searching. I'm satisfied its a good price, not the 28,500 I was hoping for, but a good price, at least 1,000 under invoice. Be patient, your deal will come.

I am a General Sales Manager at a dealership in the Houston area. I am being very specific as to not break the rules of the road and as much as I would like all of you to come to our dealership :P it wouldn't be fair.

Incentives on the 2006 Pilot are good through the end of July so you still have time.

Regardless of the size of dealership you are working with, they all have the ability to trade with another dealership.

Smaller dealerships will "probably" hit their target FASTER because they have much smaller objectives to hit.

We are already WAY over our objective. (Moderator please delete this if you feel it is unneccesary info.)

Doing an on-order trade right now is risky because it probably wont come in by the end of the incentive period. Be prepared to have a few miles on the car to get the color you want (Subject to availability)

I cannot tell you how much this forum has assisted Pilot buyers! Good job folks.

    Sincerely,

    The Anonymous Dealer ;)

I got a 2WD(better gas milage and didn't feel I needed 4WD in Texas), no leather(gets too hot in TX also).
    RBoards were somewhere around $500-600.
    enjoy!

Reliance is great to work with. I contacted every dealer in the Houston area and nobody came close to the deals they were willing to make. I am sure they have reached their incentive based on the feedback and the number of cars they have sold t people on this forum. We couldn't be happier and feel better about working with them. If you are in the market for a Pilot and are not too far away from Lake Jackson,Texas then I would give them a shot at selling you a car. We were very comfortable with the salesperson and the general manager. You can negotiate your price over the internet and cut down a lot of the tactics that you put up with trying to negotiate at a dealer. They also only add to your car what you want. You are not forced to buy an accessory on your car that you don't need.
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
Just FYI and will not help with the current incentive being offered... (Due to the time frame it takes for an on-order trade or ordered vehicle to arrive)

If you really need a 4wd Pilot and are not concerned about time frame, have your Local/Not local dealer do an on order trade or order the vehicle for you and you can always get the car/color you want! This applies to all 4wd/2wd vehicles that Honda offers. Southern dealers have a much larger supply of 2wd and Northern dealers have many more 4wd for obvious reasons.

    Ever the Anonymous dealer

p.s. If time frame is a factor (as it obviously is for a lot of you right now... DRIVE or FLY to get the vehicle you want. Most dealers are familiar with out of state purchases and can assist you with your local taxes and registration. If you are paying cash they can send the MSO to your tax office and if you are financing they can coordinate with your tax office to collect the appropriate fees for your location. Some states are more difficult than others so be patient! There are definitly some hurdles to jump. be patient with the process as this tends to make customers agitated when it is really a learning process for each new State/Municipality/Local gov't.

Note: I really am trying to limit my involvement here but it seems like there are a lot of people in some areas not able to get the price/deal they want and everyone should have an opportunity to take advantage of the offer Honda is making! :)
  • scorpio5scorpio5 Member Posts: 8
If Reliance doesn't have them in the lot they will do a trade w/a local dealer and have it ready for you, that was the case w/mine they didn't have the color in stock but had it in ready by the next day :) I strongly recommend them.

call them and ask them how much lower than OPEN ROAD they can do. If they are atleast 300-400 lower then I would put the deposit and get the vehicle. Also OPEN ROAD doc fee is over 369 dollars. DCH is only 129. So you can save over 200 anyway. Good luck.

    Hey guys,
We were able to purchase 06 pilot ex 4wd in amazon green $300 below their own internet special price of $23964 from Open Road Honda. Additional cost incurred 6% NJ sales tax, $349 4 year DMV fees, $299 doc fees. The finance manager tried to push 7.99 rate on the purchase and we threatened to walkout on the deal. We agreed on $7.25 (60 month) from HMCC.

After having renton Honda make me an offer and then having them up the price as soon as I agreed a week ago, I decided to try again over the 4th holiday weekend. [ has anyone noticed chevy’s 72 hour sale that started last week and goes until the 5th? Must be new math]

I had a thought that I’d get a used ML500, toureg or maybe an X5, found a couple to check out, but drove to Bellevue Honda instead. Bottom line keeps coming back to I guess my trade not being worth 80% of KBB trade in value—unfortunatly I do have to deal with the trade.

Bellevue Honda guy says ‘renton honda has over a dozen complaints in the last 12 months, we’ve had none in the 3 years I’ve been here’
Anyway, I think I’m going about this all wrong and need to just sell my chevy 1st then deal with a purchase or lease by itself.

After hearing the numbers renton used and the ‘ballpark’ norm reeves used without seeing my trade, Bellevue did not even want to give me a quote, basically telling me they were 50 bucks over and that no one else would really give me the trade value that would make it work, also that the numbers posted on this board were just total bs, that the only numbers that counted on Edmonds were the tmv numbers which I guess are dealer posted, showing the average of deals they made.

Then last night, I spoke with the guy at norm reeves is ca—I just don’t want to drive my trade down 1,000+ miles and then put 1,500 miles on my new pilot [I do have to go to ca friday, then vegas for a conf.] but using a lower, more realistic price [that angered me ] for my chevy, Norm Reeves came up with 405 / month for a 36 month, 12,000 mile lease—this is vs. 450-460ish for Bellevue—a 1500-2000 dollar difference;;; I’d say the heck with it and just drive my chevy for another 6 months or a year, but I’ll need a set of tires and who knows what else service wise, the windshield has a chip in it, the registration is due, I think I’m talking myself into the 450 / month payment! Any suggestions?
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
Try this... Take your Chevy to at least 2-3 dealerships and ask for the Used Car Manager. Make sure you are taking it to GM dealers as they will have the best chance of selling it and should have lower reconditioning costs since it is their brand. Get buy bids from them of what they would purchase it for. Depending on the state you are in you can still trade it at the dealer and they can wholesale your trade for the value you received. You can also "Shop" your trade-in with smaller "tote-the-note" lots who buy from larger dealerships for their inventory. If you can find the right buyer then you are all set. If all of the numbers come back around what the original dealers are offering then they are giving the appropriate "fair market value" for your vehicle. Some vehicles just won't bring the money depending on market conditions.

    Good luck and good shopping!

Do you mean "3 in your chosen color" for the EX-L 2WD or some other model of car? If you are talking about the same model I am talking about (2WD, EX-L), then you are getting a good deal. Please let me know.
  • tkuhntkuhn Member Posts: 8
I don't have any suggestions for your trade dilema but i too am looking in the Seattle area for a Pilot. I'd like an EX 4wd w/ leather and navigation. I have and online quote from a Bremerton honda dealer for $32,479. I also went to Bellevue Honda and his ballpark offer was around the same stating that the Navigation system was about $2,000. The sales prices on some of these people on Edmunds seem quite a bit less. Have you been given any quotes for less? I'm waiting for quotes from Kirkland and Lynnwood.

    Hello All-

Thanks for all of the great posts, it’s been very helpful. I'm in the process of looking for a "2006 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L" in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Does anyone recommend any specific dealerships in this area? I received a price quote of $28,900 plus tax and title (includes destination fee). The price seems high to me but I didn’t negotiate with the salesman yet. What is a good price for this model in the Pittsburgh area?

    Any suggestions?
  • tkuhntkuhn Member Posts: 8
bj827, I'm wondering if your quote of $28,900 included a navigation system? I'm assuming that quote did include leather.
  • macy1macy1 Member Posts: 10
As "Anonymous Dealer" posted, driving or flying may get you what you want for the price you want.

I looked into this for myself and will share:

    Southwest.com out of Raleigh, one-way to Philadelphia...last I checked, $97.
    Rent a car...$18.95, Hotwire.com.
Drive back to Chapel Hill...7 hours, Mapquest.com.
  • bj827bj827 Member Posts: 6
tkuhn, my quote did not include a nav system or RES. The quote did include leather, and moonroof.
  • macy1macy1 Member Posts: 10
What do you think, Anonymous Dealer?

Dealers in NC argue that they do not sell 2WD because of lack of consumer interest and re-sale ability of a 2WD being problematic. Thus, they contend that buyers should buy 4WD if they ever want to re-sell.
  • bolts619bolts619 Member Posts: 10
Are Pilots selling more up in the Pittsburgh area? That seems a bit high, but again, I'm in So Cal. I got several quotes from dealers around here and the best one I got for the 4wd EXL WITH NAVI was $28.998 includes dest fee. Another dealer wanted $31K for a 4wd EXL (no navi) includes dest fee. It really varies.
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
Considering there are Auto auctions all over the United states a dealer in NC should easily be able to take a 2WD Pilot to their LOCAL auto auction and have southern buyers bidding on that vehicle and transporting to an area with higher market demand. There is a market for 2WD vehicles all over the US. The market in the north east may not be as high... but what vehicle are you looking for? hmmm... 2WD! We order mostly 2WD vehicles in Texas and I suspect that they order mostly 4WD. Simply ask yourself is it worth the $1080.00 difference in price (EX-L vs. EX-L)

As far as resale value is concerned they are extremely comparable. A 2wd is worth less but you also pay less for the vehilce.

The bottom line is we have customers seeking 4wd down here and they obviously have customers looking for them up there. We keep 4wd in our order bank and I hope they keep 2wd!

    Anonymous dealer Out! :shades:
  • tkuhntkuhn Member Posts: 8
was your 28,998 quote including any Tax Title License or dest. fee? I am in Seattle and the lowest quote so far is 32,479 for ex-l 4wd w/ navi. I've been dealing w/ the online specialist for this specific dealer and she wasn't clear if this quote included tax title, etc. even though that's what I requested. Did your sales guy say that 28,998 was 2K (or more) below invoice?
  • bj827bj827 Member Posts: 6
bolts619, I'm not sure if the prices are higher in Pittsburgh or not...that's why I decided to post my original quote of $28,900 to see what others had to say. Sounds like your quote of $28,998 with Navi is a good deal. I'm going to check with several more dealerships tomorrow because most of them are closed today because of the holiday. I'll let you know more tomorrow hopefully! Thanks again for the information.

Just started my search and looking to buy before the end of July...will be looking at a number of dealers in the area for best price. Looking for feedback on dealers offering the best price in the area and hoping to get confirmation that the pricing programs noted in these posts for June are still active in July.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks to all who have posted to this forum. On June 3oth I took delivery of a 2006 Pilot AWD EXL (no NAV or RES).After receiving an instant quote from Open road Honda in Edison, NJ of 26,031+ 550 dest, I contacted Sussman Honda in Willow Grove, PA and Keenan Honda in Doylestown, PA. Sussman was able to match the NJ price and did not charge the 298 doc fee that Open road charges. Keenan was about $200 more. The price from Sussman was as follows:

    Pilot 4WD EXL $26,031
    Destination 550
    Installed Running Boards 558
    Total before tax $27,139
    tax 6% 1628
    Title & doc fees 123
    Total Out the door $28,890

    db06,
After much research in the SW Pa area, most dealers were offering 28,280 for a '06 Pliot AWD EXL. Honda Village in Greensburg, PA was the best at 27,980. You may consider making a trip to the Phila suburbs (about a 5 hr drive)I recently purchased an EXL AWD 06 Pilot from Sussman Honda in Willow Grove, Pa for 26,031 + 550 dest. Hope this helps.

    2006 Pilot 2WD EX-L w/ Nav System

Reliance (cheap flight for me) quoted 28,188 + TTL

Open Road quoted 27,129 + TTL

I'm in Dallas, so to do the Open Road deal I'd have to fly up there and drive 1500 miles back.

Houston is much more convenient, but I hate to leave a thousand bucks on the table. At the same time, flying to Jersey and finding out the deal isn't what it seems would suck too...

    Hello,

I have to be brief, as my twins won't be asleep for long. I live about 35 miles NE of Sacramento, CA. I went to Stockton Honda and bought a 2006 Redrock Pearl Pilot EX-L 4WD (no Navi or RES) for $26,280 today (7/4). It had 171 miles on it when I left the dealership. No accessories, no extended warranties, nothing extra. Just wanted the vehicle. I started sending out e-mails to area dealers on Saturday morning. Contacted approximately 8 dealers. Stockton had the color we wanted and they matched the best price I got from another nearby dealer, Lodi Honda. I had to drive about 90 miles from my home to get the vehicle, but the local Honda dealer in town was $1300 more and said they couldn't come down any lower.

I did as much as possible over phone/fax/e-mail before I went down there. Even so, I was at the dealership for about two hours, including vehicle inspection, test drive, financing, and final vehicle demonstration.

I feel I got a great deal. It was the color we wanted, and the price was right. I would highly recommend them to anyone willing to go to Stockton for a deal. I only dealt with two people, one in internet sales and one finance person. Great experience.

Thanks to everyone in these forums for their information, as it was invaluable. I feel I saved at least $1000 based on what I saw in these forums. I hope I can save someone else some money.

    Thank You

great price, did that include tax, title, license, deatination fee?
  • bolts619bolts619 Member Posts: 10
    tkuhn,
The quote included dest fee but not TTL. I sent out emails to about 16 dealerships and he was the absolute lowest. I"ll have to drive 86 miles to get it, but definitely worth it. :)
  • bolts619bolts619 Member Posts: 10
Congrats! You got a great deal! $3699 under invoice! Did OPen Road Honda give you that quote in the first email response?

actually I'm probably going to buy the thing [lease] from, [allegadly] the biggest honda dealer in the world, norm reeves in cerritos CA, the numbers are just so much better. want to drive down there with me? [kidding]. reeves is quoting a 3 yr lease at 389, bellevue and kirkland, [same owners by the way] is at about 450, but they are so far off the ca dealers they dont' even want to nail down an exact price
