Has anyone had a positive experience with any particular dealerships in this area? I have been to Acura of South Bay, and talked on the phone to Cerritos, Downey, South Coast, and Van Nuys.

I am looking for a TSX Auto, w/ Navi, Carbon Grey Ext, Ebony Int.

The lowest I have been quoted is $27200 incl destination. That is from South Bay. However, no one has my specific color/feature combo exactly. As I am not in a hurry to buy a car, I am holding out for exactly what I want.

Any dealerships provide a particularly positive experience? Also, any other advice?

    Thanks

The person who told you W-rated tires cannot be repaired must have been the same one selling the warranty. It's not true. The differences between a W-rated tire and a V-rated (or an H-rated or S-rated, for that matter) tire are entirely in tiny details in the construction. If you can repair a V-rated tire, there's no reason not to repair a W-rated tire.

Besides, the difference in speed rating is only 19 mph, all above 149 mph! The doggone car won't even go fast enough to exceed the V-rated tire's rating.

All extended warranties are profit centers for dealers, and a way for the underpaid F&I officers to get some extra commission. Why buy something when the car is new that you won't use until the (free) factory warranty is up, four years later? They have your money (and the interest it earns) for four years and you get nada in all that time for your money!

    Sorry. You got ripped.
  • rickydick2rickydick2 Member Posts: 4
The tires on the TSX are an odd size. As a result you are currently saddled with one brand of replacement tire.
Or are you? Instead of getting 215/55's, you could opt for what I call "plus one-half" tires. 225/50's will give you a rolling radius within 5 mm of the OE tires, and there are 17 tire listed at the Tire Rack in that size, including the terrific Bridgestone Turanza LS-V, the top-rated premium touring tire.
You also get the benefit of a slight bulge in the sidewall that helps protect those expensive alloy wheels from curb scuffs.

$27,200 seems like a decent price. I wouldn't feel bad about paying that, once you find the one you want.

Nope, not the just the guy who sold us the tire warranty. It was Sears, Discount Tires, and Tire Rack that told us the W rated tires are not to be repaired, only replaced. I'm still having a hard time swallowing it too, but that is what we've been told. I haven't been able to verify with the manufacturer of the tires yet. Do you have substantiated information from the tire manufacturer that states otherwise or are you simply stating your opinion?

In any event we haven't been ripped yet, because we have 60 days to change our minds. In my experience, extended warranties on autos have always more than paid for themselves even with Toyotas and Hondas. In this case we are buying a first year model with expensive electronics built in. The extended warranty, in my opinion, is probably worth purchasing.

I had thought about the interest on the money for the next four years while the car is still under warranty. Of course it is possible that the price will be higher in 4 years or that the standard $1995 price will not be negotiable at that point. Depending on what you think you can make in interest determines whether or not it's worth taking your chances on waiting the 4 years before purchasing.

I appreciate your input and will continue to analyze my decision for the 60 day period during which I can cancel both policies with no penalty.

The TSX comes with a pretty long warranty already. And a lot of things can happen in 4 years. I would much rather have that money in the bank, and see what happens over 50K miles. It is possible you won't have the car that long, and won't even need the warranty. Or, even more likely, you'll find the car relatively bulletproof, and wonder why you paid for something that you may not need. You can always buy the warranty before yours expires.. It may cost a few hundred more, but you may find you don't need it at all.

    regards,

By the way... what are wheel locks? They seem cheap enough. I'm assuming they make your tires/rims harder to steal? I'd pay $65 for that. Can you buy them online from some after-market place? Does the dealer have to install them?
  • bartolomebartolome Member Posts: 12
The wheel locks, in my opinion, aren't worth much. I can't imagine they do much to stop someone from stealing the wheels. We paid $65 for them, because this dealer had been so good to us and I did not view $65 as worth fighting over. With that said, if you don't have to buy them I wouldn't.

You can definitely buy them elsewhere and install them very easily. It's just a replacement for one lug nut per wheel that requires a special tool to put it on or take it off.

You can view them and purchase them from this website for $29.

True enough. I have waited until the manufacturer warranty is about to end before purchasing extended warranties in the past. However, I found dealers much less willing to bargain on the pricing when it is done late in the game. I've also purchased extended warranties not backed by the manufacturer of the car. I had a very good experience with WarrantyGold right up until they declared bankruptcy.

I consider buying TSX auto w/o navigation in VA. Anyone know the recent price in the area. I've never buy car in USA before. How do I deal with the dealer and the salepeople. need to know the trick!

Bought a TSX w/o NAVI last weekend (automatic) in Milano Red (Oklahoma City area). Total (incl doc fee) was $26,593.50 with trunk tray, splash guards, wheel locks, and fog lights. My bank has a negotiation service, but said they were only getting $735 off of MSRP. The dealer's initial offer was $1000.00 off sticker, then clinched the deal by agreeing to install fog lights at the same price. Not a steal, but a fair price for a nice car. Loan rate was 3.75/60 months.

I've had a very pleasurable buying experience.
Waited for 2 weeks for white color with wood trim
and navi, on May 7th my car has arrived.
$27,650, traded my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo for $9,000
(very happy -exact match from KBB -for excellent quality)
$19,000 total out of the door (all taxes and fees are included)
3.5% 5 years finance from Acura.
Also own Honda Accord 2003 EX w/navi
So far extremely happy with both cars.
Did not buy extended warranty and never will.

    Thank you. I'll do that

how much does this car before tax?
  • jeri2ijeri2i Member Posts: 2
Actually, I've just checked invoice and found that I've paid $19,490, sorry for the misleading.
Here is how it worked; The MSRP for TSX w/navi is $29,025.
    My price was 27,650 - 9,450 (Trade) = 18,250 +NJ tax (1,095)+ fee (145.00) = 19,490 out of the door.
I could get $11K for my old truck, but as you can see there would be almost no difference because of the partial tax that you are paying when you have a trade + no self selling headaches.
    Good luck.

I wanted to offer my experience in purchasing a 2004 Acura TSX yesterday since I had so much help from this discussion board and thought I may help others, as well, in researching a price for their vehicle.

I live in Southwest Florida and contacted about 7 different dealers from around the state by e-mail after google searching Acura Dealerships.

From the posts on this message board, it appeared that most were paying in the neighborhood of $25,200-25,500 without NAV. Several dealers said that they would match the $25,200 and others added the "Dealer Fee" which was usually around $500.

I ended up working a deal with Scanlon Acura in Fort Myers for $24,900 plus taxes. There was no hassle and no dealer fees attached. I decided to add tinted windows for $125 - dealer cost - and the dealership also threw in tire locks for free.

I ended up getting what I wanted-- Carbon Gray/Black Ebony, and as luck would have it, the car was being shipped directly to the dealership about the time I wanted to pick it up. Went to the dealership, signed my papers, and was out the door in less than 30 minutes.

So for those of you who shop around, there are deals to be made. I think that the summer is slow for a lot of dealerships, especially here in Florida and inventory may be high. They have to get rid of their 2004 cars before the 2005s come in.
I really don't think its unreasonable to try to get invoice plus destination = $25,700 at this time of year.
  • copseyalcopseyal Member Posts: 36
Wow, nice job! Awesome price. You will love your new TSX! Got asked about it today by someone at the gas station. About the 10th time in the 4 weeks I have owned it.
  • rsfrsf Member Posts: 15
PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION: I must correct the last sentence in my last post #713. I meant to say that I think a deal can be made for $24,700 (NOT $25,700) which is Invoice plus Destination Charges. Sorry 'bout that.

What is the best rate anyone has gotten through Acura on a 60 month loan? I notice that someone just got 3.5%. Anything lower out there?

I have been an avid follower of these forums for at least 3 years. Recently this one has piqued my interest and now I am in a position finally to buy my first new car. After using the great info on this forum, I sent emails out to 4 different Acura dealerships looking for a Non Navi 6MT TSX. Color is not that important, though i would rather not have the wood trim. UNfortunately, I also love the Milano Red color ;) In the email i said that I would not pay more than 25200 for a 6MT TSX. Well, i got a quote back, in like 15 minutes from one dealer, Inskip Acura of Warwick, RI, that has a Meteor Silver Metallic with Quartz. He basically said that if I could pick it up by June 30th then I could have it for 25,200. Did I dig myself in a hole in that now that i was upfron with the sales team there, that I am obligated to buy it at that price? I jsut checked the postings here and it looks like I should have said 24,700ish. I also test drove a 2002 Audi 1.8T quatro manual today and was much impressed. However, it does not have Xenon lights, and that is something that I am most adamant about. Other dealers have said that I can just add them in to whatever I get (one guy said that I could put them in a minivan if I wanted to) ridiculous if you ask me. The TSX has all that I want. One other thing, when i went to test drive the audi, the windshield wipers got stuck on the windshield in the upright position. The salesman said, "you think you can drive it like that?" And all I could think of was that 6 years ago, my trusty ;) Ford Probe had the same problem and shortly thereafter bit the big one. Needless to say it did not inspire confidence. Any opinions on the Audi vs. TSX, I know that there is another forum for this type of thing, but at its heart it is a buying question. The audi has 20,000 miles on it and warranty until 50,000 and is certified.

Is 25200 a decent price for the TSX, if so, do you think that I can haggle a little more (this is my first car purchasing experience and I want to make sure I do this right.) Thanks for all your help. Based on driving dynamics, i can not decide on the two vehicles.
  • copseyalcopseyal Member Posts: 36
25,200 is a great price. Although I would get an itemized breakdown of all costs, to get your "out the door price", that way you will avoid any bogus dealer fees, etc. If you have gotten other quotes from the other dealers for less, you can use them to leverage the local dealer. With it being so close to the end of the month, you may be able to schmooze em down a few hundred. Remember, you are in total control, these guys are fighting over your business. Just need to have a price you want to pay, and if they hit it, then I say go for it. Good luck!

Just picked up my black on black, non navi TSX on Saturday! I've been reading the message boards for a while and just wanted to tell my experience. Emailed several dealerships is the metro NY/NJ area last week, all responded, some with price quotes. One was at 27k, and many were in the 25k range. The lowest being 25k (including destination). I emailed him back to see if i could come in that night and never responded (still hasn't-his lose). Another dealership near where I worked called that afternoon so I went in that night and he matched the offer. I tried to negotiate down and I got a spoiler, wheel locks, truck tray(why?) and mud flaps and it totalled 25700. Maybe not the best offer, but i was happy with it, and it was relatively painless for the first time buying a new car. This does not include TTL; tax where i live is OVER 8%, yuck. Decided that the extended warranty wasn't worth the money. Now the real problem is keeping this black pearl looking so new?!
  • abonneyabonney Member Posts: 4
I finally decided, after much rumination, to go with the Audi. I know that the reliability may be an issue, but it has 30K left on factory warrantee and the Certified warranty kicks in after that for 2 more years, 24000 miles. I really like parchment trim better than black or quartzon the TSX, yet I just can't take the wood trim in it. The Audi has parchment and it has a silver trim. I will miss those elctroluminescent gauges though, thats really cool. The negative side to my purchase is that I now have to spend 600+ to get OEM xenons for the A4, which came with halogens. I'll keep abreast of this post, and who knows, maybe in 4 years I will be looking at the next generation TSX. Cheers!

I saw an ad for 0% financing at a local Acura dealer last month. I'm pretty sure it was on that last 3 day weekend we had. I would check in the next few days. They seem to do the better financing on holiday weekends.
  • phild_masonphild_mason Member Posts: 99
Acura does this on occasion, but it tends to be regional. Last year they did it in the West/SW around Labor day.

I have not seen anything in the Central plains, however, I could see them doing it over the 4th

I spent a great deal of trials and tribulations deciding between a TSX and 325xi. The BMW is a fantastic car and I do believe it is a step up from the Acura in terms of drive ability. That said the TSX is also a wonderful car and one that you can buy for around $8K less. The acura comes with everything standard that if you desire with the BMW really drives the cost up. Based on the price difference and the 25K miles I drive a year I decided upon the acura. I ordered one from a local dealer. My volvo lease is up in mid September and timing is of the essence. By doing so I had my pick of color combinations and delivery dates. I am getting a manual non nav, silver with ebony (i was going to get the red but was afraid i would grow tired of it). I am paying invoice plus $500 or $25,200. Dealer prep and registration cost are $230 plus MA tax. The dealer is also throwing in the mud flaps. I believe I could have gotten the car for invoice if I waited to August 31st, but then i wouldn't have gotten my choice of color, plus i would have the stress of uncertainty. I am really excited about the car. It handles like a sports car, has a tight 6 spd trans and i like the 6 CD 360 watt sound system. I'll relook at the BMW when i hit the lottery.
  • allaboutme1allaboutme1 Member Posts: 23
one other thing the dealer wrote on the contract is that they would push through any incentives or rebates that acura may put ought between now and when i take delivery. They also agreed not to put any dealership decals on the vehicle.

Have been looking on and off for a 6 MT w/o nav. One dealer quoted 25,250 + 299 dealer fee + destination, TT. sounds rather mediocre to me. What's been your experience.
  • monstermonster Member Posts: 4
    Plus destination? Horrible quote.
  • johnny420johnny420 Member Posts: 473
I agree with Monster. Offer him $25,000 even, plus TT. If he says no, go somewhere else. $25,250 + 299 + Roughly 500 dest chg = 26,049. You can do better than that. That $299 "dealer fee" is total crap.

I just signed the papers for my new Honda and feel like I made a big mistake. The out the door price between these two cars was literally only $600.00. I test drove both vehicles. I left the Acura dealership thinking I needed some time to think about it after being quoted a great price and today made an impulse buy at the Honda dealership.

    1. Is there anyway I can renig w/o penalty or minimal penalty on a purchase agreement? I stupidly put down $2000.00 at Honda. I think at this point I would rather buy the Acura.

    2. What would you guys choose for a $600 difference out the door? The Honda Accord EX V6 engine or the Acura TSX (both with navigation)???

Personally I liked the roomier Honda and the slightly speedier pickup of the V6 engine .. but The Acura seems to be the winner on all the other categories.

Seeking Advice. Maybe it's too late for me. ???
  • johnny420johnny420 Member Posts: 473
First, as I understand it, until you drive that car off the lot, you are not obligated. Whether or not you signed the papers, you can still back out, IF you haven't driven the car off the lot. Don't let any dealer tell you any different. They'll often say anything to close a sale.

Second, nobody can tell which car to buy. Both models are excellent, each with its own particular strengths. If your gut feeling tells you to buy the Honda, get the Honda, and same goes for the TSX.

What I can tell you is that, after almost seven months of ownership, I'm very happy with my TSX. It's a lot of fun to drive, and I've had zero problems. Absolutely flawless.

    Good luck.

    Johnny

I would contact Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville. They will undoubtedly give you your best price. If you negotiate well, you should be able to get your car for under $25,000 plus TTL and no dealer fees. Good luck.
  • rutjkrutjk Member Posts: 4
How the heck is the price difference only $600? You must've gotten an excellent TSX deal and a horrible accord deal. I personally drive a TSX non-navi. I got my car for 24300, which is a deal I KNOW that nobody else got or can get. For my friend who didn't have the cash, I got a Accord coupe ex (4cyl) with leather and climate controls for 1800 under invoice, i think it was 20300 or something like that. For accord V6, i'm sure you can get that car for 1500-2000 under invoice EASY. I'm pretty sure that you didn't get a good deal on the accord because i know that the TSX can't go below a certain price no matter what.
My suggestion is, back out of the honda deal, and rethink it. If you still want the honda, then go back in and get a better deal than that. There should not be 600 difference between the two. I would think there's gotta be at least 3000 difference if you got a good deal for both cars.

Yesterday I took a test drive of the Acura TSX 6 speed manual and it was a mind blowing experience! My current car is a 1996 Nissan Sentra and yesterday's test drive was totally awesome comparing to what I used to drive. Anyhow, the point is that in the Minneapolis area I have contacted all the 3 dealers and all of them say that the cars are in heavy shortage. Is it true? White Bear Acura said that they got only 3 cars this month. So I am not sure if I could negotiate well with the price. White Bear Acura gave me a price of $28435 (including D&H) + taxes and I negotiated with the second dealer (Buerkle Acura) and he has quoted a price of $28135. Can I come further below, especially considering the shortage? Also, I was thinking of adding the floor mats and the Mp3 player. So what do you guys think, should they be a part of a deal or the total price would simply be the initial price plus the price of these individual items?

I really would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks,
    -S

Has anyone bought a TSX, 6sp, no nav from Gary Force Acura in Nashville? I am looking for a good deal...aren't we all!! I am willing to travel outside of Nashville for the right price. I was offered $25862 from somewhere in Atlanta. I was not impressed with this price at all.

Lemme know if anyone has had experience in Nashville, Knoxville, Chatanooga, Memphis, Huntsville, Atlanta Louisville or Lexington.

Hi there! I read through a lot of the helpful messages in this forum over the past few weeks before buying my 2004 Acura TSX automatic w/navigation today, and wanted to share my experience.

I live in Sacramento, and we have two Acura dealerships, Niello Acura and Lasher Acura. On Friday night 7/16, I sent out quote requests to those dealers plus several others in Stockton and the Bay Area.

I included Acura of Los Gatos due to the positive feedback elsewhere this forum and wasn't disappointed: they were prompt in replying, no pressure, and oh so helpful.

I was looking for Arctic Blue (auto w/navi), and the Internet manager there found that there were none on hers or any other Northern California lots, but she went so far as to discover that there was an Arctic Blue one en route to Niello by the end of July that was available! I thanked her profusely for her honest and helpful service that in my opinion went above and beyond the call of duty, then I contacted Niello.

I received a quote of $27,752 via e-mail. I countered with $27,300. Niello today agreed to a price of $27,482, not including tax, title and document fees, but DID include splash guards and trunk tray at my request.

Niello was low key, low-pressure, eager to please and had everything wrapped up in about an hour and a half.

I decided to purchase an extended warranty. The 7-yr, 100,000 mile Acura factory extended warranty has zero deductible and was offered at $1,250.

I got it for $1,040. The business office rep swore that warranty costs them $940, and he showed me a list that he stated showed the prices the dealer paid for the warranties. After looking at the apparent $940 dealer cost, I looked straight at him and asked directly if there were any other incentives, promotions, or ANYTHING that lowered his purchase cost for the warranty, and he said no - he'd be happy to make just $100 on it. So I went with $1,040.

Could I have successfully dickered further? I'm not sure, but I have heard plenty of tales of buyers of other brands paying $1,600+ for their extended warranties, so $1,040 for an Acura factory extended warranty with zero deductible sounded pretty good.

I've been through expensive car repairs before, and I know how something like a bad window motor can chew through $400 in nothing flat. The Acura has several computers in it, and you don't want to be paying retail for those pups. So for me, the warranty made sense and was not overpriced in my opinion, because somewhere within 7 yrs/100,000 miles, it's likely that there will be more than $1,000 in repair expenses.

Kind of longwinded, but that's my experience! The car will arrive at the dealership for us to pick up at the end of July.

Hope this info helps someone out there! And if you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, be sure to give Los Gatos Acura a shot at your quote! They sure impressed me with their responsiveness, helpfulness, honesty and prompt, no-gimmicks follow-through.

I just got a new deal for the auto/non-nav
the dealer offered it for $24,900 destination charge included. I would have to pay the high sales tax of 8.625% for NY and the TT. but the only thing I'm not so sure is the interest rate of 5.9% Apr. that they are offering for financing, did anyone get a lower rate from another dealer in the NY area?
  • mokeyjoemokeyjoe Member Posts: 4
Well, I am now the proud owner (OK, really my wife is) of a satin silver TSX without the navi system. I bought it from Gary Force Acura in Nashville last night. I paid $25,400 + TTL for it.

This morning my wife and I went outside and just gazed at it. We kept saying "Man, that is a pretty car."

Gary Force was good to deal with, but wouldn't go below $25400. I tried to get it for $25,200. I am still very happy with the price.

I did not buy the extended warranty, but the guy was willing to go $1080 for it just by teling him that I knew how much it costs them.

Have fun with your TSX's...I know we will!!
