A 5 months & 5 day wait. I hope situation has improved.
On the 11th it was awaiting courier, but on the 18th I was able to get them to divulge that they were currently "testing" the truck. We'll see what happens on this 4dr 2wd 1500 LS SB loaded.
Summary: 6 weeks from order to build (this includes turkey break and xmas and the fact that they did not start building 4-door models until mid-December.
Additional 16 days from build date to loading on courier service. (Some vehicle testing occurs after build date which may delay ship date.)
Discrepancies: Was tol by GM that the truck was built in Fort Muncie Indiana, but the dealer told me the truck is being shipped by rail from Naples. (he did not say whether that was Florida or Italy;-[ ))
seriously, thanks for the update. i ordered almost same day as you. TPW this week. No work yet on whether or when it was built. hope i don't have to wait that 16 days for shipping. keep us updated.
ps, i emailed you re your extra coupon.
Hope they haven't lost your truck. In Indiana, there is a Fort Wayne (which is where I understand the factory is). There is also a Muncie, Indiana, but no Naples, or Fort Muncie. Maybe they had to drive your new truck to Naples, Italy as part of the "testing" they were doing. Just kidding. Does anyone know if there is a truck plant in Naples? Florida or Italy!!
If they are testing on a track, their tolerances seem to be very liberal from the problems some people are having.
I still believe they have no idea about what is causing clunks and vibration or the problem is so complex from an engineering standpoint that they will not stop assembly and reconfigure parts that will combine and work together. It is cheaper for GM to keep producing trucks and stave off complaints.
They have to be working on a solution, but if it is a major design problem it would mean eating crow and starting all over again (and Hell will freeze over). Unfortunately, as my truck gets closer to delivery, I'm becoming more nervous than excited.
I am not a pessimist ordinarily and I love to hear about those who have had no problems with their trucks because it sends out a hopeful message that a "fix" has been found. The other thing that is hard to understand is all these service departments around the country are thrashing around on their own to come up with a fix for those with the common problems. Can GM be so disorganized that they are not gathering information and sending out bulletins on successful repairs?
I also don't buy the theory that this forum consists chiefly of people with problems and gripes. It seems to be a reasonable microcosm of owners and would-be-owners. The really comforting thing about this site is that for those who do get a lemon, there is a lot of backup and proof that you are not the only one experiencing the problem. It is rather hard for a service department to say you're dreaming when you can throw a lot of similar cases in their face.
However, my glass is still half full, not half empty. And even more, I feel better after getting this off my chest . . . even if you don't.
Are yall sure that they are no longer "producing" 3 door xcabs, or that they just aren't "accepting" orders for them any more?
I have 2 trucks on order, the one above with the 1/31 TPW is a 3 door. The 2nd one I ordered earlier this month will be a 4 door as GM will no longer accept orders for 3 doors. I'm beginning to wonder if the 1st order will be delivered as a 3 door or a 4 door.
NUMBER1, glad to hear it's on the rail car, lets hope it's not one going to Alaska!
RYAN, I'm still here reading all the posts, yes I know you'll be ordering soon, Indigo Blue, black wheel flares yadayadayada. Are you still going with the LS or starting w/base & adding what options YOU want.

In any event sounds like the best deal out of all posts Iv'e seen on this forum, but remember it's not a done deal (price wise) until the ink is dry.
LOL
Ray T.
It is a done deal cause i am using the gm supplier deal you cant go higher or lower it was in ink from the day gm came up with the very nice supplier deal. Its 3% over the gm employee price.

Just a waiting game now, hope I can sit it out and remain sane.

My wife is getting real excited about the new truck. We went and test-drove 2500 LS Extended Cab 4 x 4 the dealer had on the lot and she was quite impressed. Especially when she jumped on it approximately 100 MPH on the highway with out a problem, “POWERFUL” she said.
I will keep you updated.

over invoice? What is the phone number? I want
to order my silverado within the next 3 weeks.
Thanks, Gary

No way to track it on line. It's either your dealer or the 1800#.
I am told it was built the week of 1/10/00 and will be in in three weeks. Thats next week. Seems to take forever, but reading other reports I should count my blessings. I oredered a topper yesterday. Now I'm thinking maybe I should have waited.
I drove mine off the lot 22 days after the build date .. and I believe that is about average.
Fingers are crossed.

The order still hasn't been accepted. So, do I get my deposit back and try the local DLR or wait it out? It will cost me about $350 to switch DLRs.
Your thoughts?
Roger
what did you get on yours? I may look at changing some options.

color is pewter with grey bottom, graphite interior. can't wait to get it!
I've posted here in the past but mostly I just like to read. Anyway here's what I got: 2000 GMC Sierra SLT 1500, 5.3L 3.73 Locker, Leather,Tinted windows, Best Stereo, Better Air filter etc. Sportside. How is it .....hmmmmm PERFECT!!! I love her, she the most beautiful thing I've ever owned. I ordered on Oct. 4 so it was a long wait but I really wanted a four door. Hated to do it but with the 12 miles that were on the od I took her up to 78 mph using the cruise 1 mph at a time. This truck is absoulutly SOLID with not even the slightest hint of shimmy or shake or vibration. Only small annoyance I've found is the drivers seatback has about a 1/2", feels like spring loaded, give. It will kinda push forward when I'm stopping. Then lean back when I accelarate. Any one else experience this. BTW the passangers seat is tight. These are the full feature captains. It sure is gonna be hard to keep this puppy in the low to mid 50's for 500 miles or so. You can just feel this baby wanting to roar. Paid $25770 using GMO and then took another $500 of with the loyalty coupon. Built on 1/13/00 delivered on 1/28/00 drove home today. Not positive were it was built as the order sheet said Wentzville and the window sticker said Oshawa, Canada.
hope you get yours soon! it's going to be NICE!

The info from wheels.com about holds and availability is useful, but the YE cutoffs shown are for fleet orders and not for true model year changeover. Individual orders thru a dealers allocation should still be good until about June. Anyone wanting to order a 2000 model should work with their dealer to submit an order ( they should know what the changeover deadline is by model ) and then verify GM acceptance with a Vehicle Order Detail and TPW.
RDVE you cannot order a 2000 till june. They cutoff the ordering in may and finish out 2000's take a wk or 2 off then start up with the 2001 models.
