I just bought a 2006 ACURA Automatic TL w/ NAV from ACURA of Denville for $32,100 plus TTL... but after reading some of the posts here I probably could have gotten some add-ons like the optional all weather ">mats or splash guards ;)

as far as driving experience and the looks of the car I love my audi a4. I used to have a 3 series and the driving is very similar, at first I thought the bimmer felt better but then with time the difference disappeared and with quattro driving in bad weather (snow) made this even a better deal for me. However, this being '03 model I have gone thru some bad maintenance issues and currently the car is at the dealer for a major work which is not covered anymore by warranty as I have gone over 50k miles already. I will most probably need to get rid off of it and get something different and Acura/Honda being something more reliable and still within my budget seem to fit the bill best.
So, if I could lease I would not be affraid to take another Audi, but if you have to buy it, or get a used one I would not recommend it.

Still a great price - how did you get them to offer it for you at $32,100? Was this price in person, or over the internet?
  • zombiemanzombieman Member Posts: 14
The TL comes with darn near everything, but there are a few accessories that can be added on by the dealer. Some of these you see quite often at various Acura lots and on TL's driving around town.

For example, the additional spoilers. There's a lower front, rear, & side spoilers. And a couple of truck spoilers - the "deck lid" version and the bigger wing-styled one. The MSRP's of these are $329, $329, $415, & $399 (truck deck lid version) respectively.

Also the "i-Pod" connector in the glove box comes at an extra $189 MSRP with cable & connector adding on approx. another $30.

Anyone know what these actually cost the dealer?

I'd like to know when I see these added-on the various TL's that I'm considering.

Today I took the plunge and bought a TL with Navigation, Wheel Locks and Splash Guards for $32,600 plus TTL, Blue with Parchment interior. That price (actually $33,100 but they made my first months $500 payment as well!) included all destination charges and dealer processing fees, and oil and filter changes for Life. The dealership that treated me right was Radley Acura in Falls Church, VA, and they were great. I also received a great offer from Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD. But Radley was more convenient. The most convenient dealership to me, Chevy Chase Acura was great, until it came time to talk deal, and they were not dealing. The may offer great services (free car washes for life), but you can buy a lot of car washes for the $1400 difference! Also got the 4.9% financing in effect until 2/28/06. Good Luck! :);)

I'm looking in and around Aus, Tx too, 06 TL w/ nav Sterling is my only quote, started today 33,260 but I know I can do much better, any ideas? will see Mcdavid on monday
  • jtr06jtr06 Member Posts: 2
Surely, we can find a better deal somewhere in Tx, I would jump at $32,500 around Aus, San Antonio for an 06 TL AT w/ nav, and splash guards, wheel locks, and all season mats. I think tax is 6 1/2% Thanks I'm using Consumer Reports wholesale price and invoice price to compare

Can anyone share buying experience and price of TL 06 purchase in Pittsburgh, PA region?

Can anyone share buying experience and price of TL 06 purchase in Pittsburgh, PA region?

Didn't actually pull the trigger because I just couldn't make the payment work (not actually in the market but received an unbelievable offer on my current car and decided to shop around), but I had a deal worked out with an Spitzer Acura in McMurray PA for a TL w/ Navi for $600 over invoice. That was after considerable haggling and phone calls back and forth and seeing some of the other posts on here I think it was a pretty good deal.

They pre-install the protection package (mud guards and trunk liner) in all of their TL's - negotiate your best deal and then tell them to knock that down to cost and they will.
  • crs126crs126 Member Posts: 2
    How does this deal compare.

    No Nav 06 TL

    $30271 - Price
    $399 - protection pkg
    $615 - Destination fee
    $137.50 - Plate Fee
    $2,189.95 - Tax
    ______________________
    $33,612.45 - OTD price

    Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and I'm thinking of buying a TL.

zombieman; I've been trying to find the pricing on the underbody spoilers but to no avail. Where did you find the pricing ? Better yet , do you have the retail or invoice pricing on these items ?? Thanks in advance ! :)
  • ezracerezracer Member Posts: 24
I should have said " wholesale" pricing not " retail ".
  • bartalk3bartalk3 Member Posts: 692
Price is good, but drop the protection package which is just added profit for the dealer and worth very little. And I guess you're not able to negotiate the tax.
  • zombiemanzombieman Member Posts: 14
    exracer,

I did an internet search for those spoilers and found a few Acura dealerships selling them (some on their own sites and some via ebay). They show their discounted selling price along with a "list" price. I believe the list is the MSRP with their selling price typically being a discount of something like 20-30% off of that.

Which leads me to think that their cost is still somewhat less than that (40-50% of MSRP/list??). That said, I too would like to know what the TRUE "invoice" price is for these OEM add-ons. But that appears to be something that is not published anywhere.

BTW, a local dealer told me today that the entire underbody spoiler package, truck/deck spoiler, body side molding, and i-pod connector would be over $2000 in parts alone. Yet I can buy all of these from other dealers that are selling them online for less than $1500? Hmmmm. It won't take $500+ in labor to install all of that.

Won't it all have to be painted to match the car?

    kyfdx,

No, all the OEM spoilers come already painted to match. You just order them in the paint color of your car.

I just got what I think is a very good deal. Can someone tell me where this is in terms of invoice price. They were saying it was well below inovice, but I have no idea what the actual invoice cost is other than the base model. I bought the car in NJ. If someone is interested in where let me know and I will refer you. It was the best car buying experience i have ever had. Price was negotiated over the phone and vie email.

    This is what I got:
    Anthracite '06 TL with Navigation
    Wheel Locks
    All Weather Mats

    for $32,300 + TTL

The total out the door was $33,900.

    John,

Sounds like a very good deal! Have fun with the car. I love the anthracite color myself...
  • buyer777buyer777 Member Posts: 70
How did you get to that ODD price? 6% NJ Sales Tax on $32,300 puts you over $34,000....

Does anyone have any idea of what a fair price would be in the Toronto area?

    Thanks.

I got the '06 AT with Navi at Goodson for 33k - doesn't sound like the best price on here, but they gave me well over book value for my Accord, so I think all in all I got a pretty good deal, and the dealership was nice to work with. Anthracite / Ebony.
  • sillasilla Member Posts: 2
Picked up an 06 AT w/ Nav. Black on Black in South Jersey for $32,225 @ 4.9% plus free all weather mats, mud guards, wheel locks, and trunk tray. All I added was the Music link for $449 installed which seemed high to me but they wouldn't budge.

    :)

This forum has been so useful during my car-buying process, I had to write mine up. Just bought a new TL w/Nav from Clair Acura. They were excellent to deal with. I went to Acura of Boston first, but they were about $500 off on my trade. I was very up-front with Clair, and they simply did the deal without haggling. Taking the trade out of the equation, ended up ~$32,500. Of course, the key for me was to get what I wanted for the trade. What an awesome car! How did I live without all the conveniences of the Nav before...
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,245
Congrats! I was just the opposite. I shopped Clair, very nice experience. The deal on the TL was fine, but they just did not want my trade. I went to A of B, negotiated a bit for invoice on the TL and they offered 50% more for my trade so I bought at A of B.

I'm still living w/o the Nav, though!

'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)

  • gpzgpz Member Posts: 3
Thanks laurasdada. I think your posts prompted me to start with Acura of Boston, so I really appreciate the feedback. Sorry you don't have the Nav - I know it's a $2K toy, but it came in handy the first day out when I found myself somewhere between Somerville, Charlestown and Cambridge - couple of clicks and I was heading in the right direction. You'll have to splurge next time!
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,245
When I visited my brother in LA, he loaned me his MDX to go to San Diego and Disneyland. Not knowing my around the left side of the country, the nav was fab! But around New England I do OK. Yeah, next car, more toys...!

Post your TL thoughts, as you get to know her. Oh, yeah. Not sure which tires you've got, but be very careful in the snow (Bridgestone Turanza EL42 + snow = challenging driving).

What are you guys getting for dealer APR's. FYI, Nissan is currently offering 3%/48 month. Anything comparable from Acura !!

Hey .... new to the forum. I'm from chicago and looking to buy tl w/navi. Are you negotiating w/dealerships through email? What's the $53 doc fee? Also what was the invoice price on the tl w/navi? THANKS!
  • ezracerezracer Member Posts: 24
zombieman: I went to (2) dealers and got pricing on the frt.airdam, side underbody, rear valance, and small decklid spoiler ( not the wing ) pkg. and received quotes of $1700 and $1400 respectively. FYI.
  • zombiemanzombieman Member Posts: 14
    exracer,

Thanks for the update on what you found out.

I got a quote of $1795 from a local dealer for the underbody package (A-Spec - front, sides, & rear) along with the decklid spoiler, body side moldings, and an i-Pod connector. But they would take no less than $2000 for all of that (I guess the extra $205 was to round it up and reach a certain profit level).

You can use email to get an idea of starting negotiations but never rely on that for final pricing, best pricing is done in person. If you have access to multiple dealers, get online quotes from all but the one you prefer most and then go in person to the one you like. Don't mention "online quotes" to them specifically, instead just use the info so show you know the market and have talked to other dealers.

NEVER pay a doc fee....it's total BS. But don't bring it up until you are ready to sign, get your best deal on price and trade and then attack add on fees last.

Invoice can be easily found on MSN Autos or many other sites.

Mine came with Michelins. They feel good now, but we haven't had the nasty weather in the past few days. Luckily it's March so I won't have the issue for a few months. But thanks for the heads up.

In person ! ... Just told them I was going next door (to Infiniti) to purchase a G35X BUT if the price was right I would consider the TL ... I never made it over to Infiniti dealer because the deal was too good to pass on!!! ;)

Thinking of buying a 2005 TL CPO. THe asking price is a $31,995 with 21K miles. I am thinking of offering 27,500...what do the experts think. The local Stealership (gary Force in Nashville) has a lock on the Acura market within 150 miles. Is my pricing correct?
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
Personally, that isn't a great price at all. People in CA are getting brand new ones for about that price... Realistically, you should be able to get a brand new one without miles or wear and tear for under $33K...
  • ejpalmejpalm Member Posts: 2
I just picked up my Acura TL Navi with all-season floor mats, trunk tray, I-Pod Connection, door edge guards and body side molding for $33,483 + TTL. I shopped around and it seemed to be the best price I was going to get. I bought from Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates.
    The invoice is $32,8ish

As for the doc fee, most car dealerships have them and they vary in price based on the dealership.

    Good luck.

    John:

I am in NJ and in the market for a '06 TL AT w/o Navi. Can you let me know where you got your deal?
  • bartalk3bartalk3 Member Posts: 692
Did you try McGrath Acura? What was their price? I thought someone posted that they would give $500 off your lowest offer. People have been paying in the 32+ range recently for the TL with Navi.
  • prospprosp Member Posts: 6
I was just quoted $31,200 + TTL for a 06 AT non navigation TL, with wheel locks, body side molding and deck lid spoiler. Seems like a fair price. I'm waiting to hear back from one other dealer and then I should be ready to commit.

Anyone in the NY area have any recent experiences with pricing for non nav TLs?

    TIA!

Recently purchased an 06 TL Automatic with Nav from Elk Grove Acura (located about 90 miles north of San Francisco) and paid the following:

$32,900 before Taxes, License and Fees and out-the-door for $35,800. This out-the-door price also included the "protection package" (mud guards, trunk tray and wheel locks). Dealt with the Internet Manager. It seems like a great car! Thanks to all that posted information on their buying experience.
  • fernandojfernandoj Member Posts: 1
Quoted $33500 on a TL w/o Navigation which translated into total upfront of $4800 and $439 a month (includes taxes) for 48 months, 15k miles a year. They are using 51% residual. What do you think about the price and terms? Any way to neg a higher residual?
  • mikefm58mikefm58 Member Posts: 2,882
Over the 4 years, your gonna shell out just under $26K with that lease. I'm not a fan of leasing unless it's for business reasons. Why not pay a bit more a month and do a purchase instead of a lease? And using their 51% residual, you'll own a $17K vehicle free and clear. Even if you finance it for 5 years to get your monthly payment lower, you're still way ahead.

I was ready to buy a 2006 6MT, Nav, financing is done, but I had a horrible experience where the salesperson was great, but when he brought in his sales manager this freak insulted my wife/I. We love the TL, but now thanks to John Eagle Acura in Houston, Texas  we are considering other brands. Any suggestions, besides BMW!
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,245
Why would you hold accountable Acura/The TL itself for the actions of one person? Are there no other Acura dealers in the Houston area?

You could try demanding an apology and maybe a little something extra for the emotional pain and suffering inflicted by the Sales Mgr, if you wanted to buy that particular car.

Plenty of other brands/models (besides BMW): Infiniti G35, Saab 9-3, Volvo S60, MB C-class, Audi A4...

You are completely correct and I hope we can calm ourselves
to think clearly--time is needed. We were just ready to drive off in one and they could've sold us an AT that was on the lot, but were just so very rude. Thanks for the input.
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,245
That's too bad. Both Boston area Acura dealer's I dealt with were fine. Maybe you should advise that dealer's GM or Acura/Honda?

Leasing has advantages if...1. you keep mileage low (otherwise they'll murder if you go over the allotted) and 2. You can use the lease as a write-off on taxes (a business deduction). TL w/Nav give me a minute or two and I'll get back to ya.
I show $32,820 for invoice on both AT and MT, but your start price to work up from $31,700. Good Luck!
  • bartalk3bartalk3 Member Posts: 692
That price is way too high. It's close to sticker. You can do a lot better.
  • cohenfivecohenfive Member Posts: 85
just helped a buddy of mine buy a new 06 tl in the bay area. anthracite automatic with navi, mats and trunk liner. he paid $32,700 plus ttl. i think that was about right--the process wasn't very painful either. a couple of go arounds with a handful of local dealers via email, he set his price and had a couple of guys trying to get that deal done...he chose the closer dealer. great car for the money, love the nav system!!
