    ... I'm going with an 06.
... and you're guaranteed to have a big smile for all of 06! Congrats on a great car!

Ok well I am a sophomore in college and have some credit but I need a low car payment..say $210 or less a month. I know some people say to avoid 72 mo. payment plan but for me, it works. Also, I have $3000 for a down payment. Anywho, this is what I got from Edmunds:

    2006 Mazda3 i Sedan
    Nordic Green
    5-speed Manual
    -Air Conditioning is only option

    Invoice came to $14,151

What can I expect standard on the '06 that isn't on the '05 in the way of tires? Also, is there anything else I can add to the car that will still keep it within a good price range for me?

    Thanks!

See if they'll "throw in" (or give you a discount price on) a set of "Premium Carpet Floor Mats" for you. The standard ones that come with the car are ... well, let's just say they're the equivalent of "dryer-lint-covered fruit rollups."

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between the Mazda3i base sedan and the tourning edition of the 3i? Also, what will the standard tire be for 2006? And maybe any other major changes..I already know a slight hp increase but that is about it.

    Thanks
  • mdaffronmdaffron Member Posts: 4,421
Nope, no horsepower increase. Same engines.

I thought there was a jump from 148 to 150 and it gained Variable Valve Timing? Im speaking about the M3i only.
  • mdaffronmdaffron Member Posts: 4,421
Oops! You are correct about the VVT being added to the 2.0 engine next year. I haven't heard about the 2-hp increase, but it seems that such an addition may do just that.

Sorry 'bout my little, er, "cranial gas passage" ...

HAHA..its ok about the brain fart..so does anyone else have any suggestions about my planned purchase (see previous post)? I am just so unsure about what I should add on. The only thing I can really think of is the AC, and maybe an AT. Anywho..lemme know your thoughts!

i m buying a mazda3, so i want to ask if anyonw knows how many different coupons max can be combined? i currently have the zoom zoom and Gerber coupon. so can i also combine it with the ACOG coupon for a total of $1500 off?

FYI, i already put down a deposit on a 2006 winning blue MZ3 S 4 dr, 5 spd, with the only option being side air bag ($290). the final price including destination before tax is $17,000. is that an ok price? i bought it in NJ. the dealer i bought it from seems to have way more 5spd in different trims than other dealers, i chk out quite a lot of others.
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
I know some people here said they combined the coupons. But I also saw other peoples posts who said they cannot be combined. I know the coupons all state "only one 500 dollar off certificate will be accepted per vehicle", which I took to mean they cannot be combined since each one is 500 dollars. Guess you would have to call the particular dealer who your buying the car from and approach him as if they could be combined. Good luck and let me know since I'm in the same situation and know where I can get a zoom-zoom coupon if they can be combined.
  • supergreysupergrey Member Posts: 5
thx, guess i will most likely just try to use 2 coupon, since there's not enough time for me to get the other one : ( if u want to get zoom zoom coupon, see if there's any mazda event at your area, they give it out at the event. the other option is ebay. i will post here to tell whether i can eventually use 1 or 2 coupon.
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
    Thanks,
I knew about ebay. I missed the zoom-zoom event in my area so I would get it that way if they will take 2.

    Good deal? or just ok?
    2006 grand touring hatchback
    auto trans
    wheel lock

MSRP: 20710, dealer quote 19700, invoice 19335 based on edmund. Will try to get it down to 19500.

I got a similar configuration as you. Except I didn't get the wheel lock, I selected PWR SLIDING MOONROOF, IN-DASH 6-DISC CD CHANGER & BOSE AUDIO PKG -inc: interior sunshade, equalizer, (6) door speakers, pwr woofer Code: 2MC.
According to http://www.nationalcorporatepricing4u.com/CarResearch.htm the invoice price is $20,484.00 after destination charge / MSRP after destination charge $22,010.00
I got a quote for $19,837. Seems like a good deal?
I'm going to the dealership on Friday to look at the differences between the S Grand Touring and S Touring.
    Here's my e-mail that I got:

  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
I assume the lifetime tire program is "free" tires as long as you service the car at the dealership (oil changes, tire rotations bla bla bla) .

The Mazda3 with 17 wheels has costly tires that don't last very long so this would be worth hundreds (thousands if you keep your car a long time) of dollars.

I would take the extra step of making sure you know when the dealer will actually replace the worn out tires. Get it in writing up front. Seems like a straight forward thing - but many people replace their tires before they are completely worn out (down to the wear bars - normally 2/32 of an inch). You may want to replace tires early - if you live in an area that gets some snow/ice but not enough to justify snow tires - you want the extra tread for the winter season or you are taking a vacation - and plan to drive several thousand miles and don't want to worry about your tires. Some dealerships will work with you on these things - but others will hold firm & only replace them when they are completely worn out. I know of one case where the car had two tires that were down to the wear bars and two tires were not yet completely worn down - and the dealership would only replace the two worn tires. Maybe not a big deal - but I like to replace all 4 at the same time.

Does anyone know if alloy wheels are going to be an option for the 2006 M3i model? If so how much will they cost?
  • audia8qaudia8q Member Posts: 3,138
    The 2006 Mazda3i touring includes the alloy wheels.....(similar to the 2005 MZ3i w/pwr pkg.)

They don't have a stand alone option for the wheels like they did in 2005.

I recently got swayed back into looking at a 3. Drove an '06 yesterday, and was reminded about how much I liked it.

Anyway, what are the 3 coupons, and how do yo find each one? $500 off sounds good to me!

Yup...my Gerber and ACOG email coupon codes are the same. Anyone able to combine both rebates when they got their Mazda 3?
  • carlococarloco Member Posts: 1
I was about to buy a 2005 MAZDA 3i today, but hesitated because I was not sure how comfortable a ride it is on a long trip. I will be travelling about 50 miles to work one-way (100 miles round trip), and comfort would be a good thing. After sitting in it for about 20 miutes for a test ride, my butt started to hurt (and
I do have some padding even thought my friends tell me I don't).
I also had a concern about the AC. I heard and read that in HOT temps, does not do well. I live in Florida, and that's another important selling point for me.

The dealer is offering me, I think, a pretty good deal with everything on the car except leather (don't think an option on the 'i' anyway, and not ABS package which has the side airbags.

Need a little boost to get me over the edge to decide. From what I have read about deals others were getting, I think mine is good, as it is out the door price too.

Since I will be using up the 50,000 miles warrantly within two years due to travel to work, would others recommed extended warranty, and any idea of the cost.

    Thank you, Miss Indecisive
(and I have driven about 15 different cars in 2 weeks, and I like this one the best for the economical ones so far). I like the PEP.
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
You should be able to test the AC before you buy - if its good (& most are) - then you should not have a problem - its only a few of us who were unlucky - I think that is one reason Mazda will not fix the problem - if more people had it they would have no choice.
  • richmlrichml Member Posts: 156
    z71bill and others,
another forum devoted to the Mazda3 (which I won't name) has started a poll regarding owners' AC satisfaction.
Currently 83 votes have been cast, with Poor currently ahead of Average, Good, Sucks, and What AC? No Excellent votes have been registered - and no reports of hanging chads!

I had a 2004 Mazda3. I like to upgrade my car and install the 6-CD Package & Bose Audio Package which are available only for the 2006 Mazda3. Can anyone tell me where I can find those parts for sell?

    Thanks to all that replied!

I'm still unsure of the dealerships. The closest to me, Tony March Mazda is out. The internet manager didn't want to talk numbers over the internet... :confuse:

Anyway, I was hoping to get a good deal on a left over 05... Not too much to pick from...

Anyone compare the 05 4spd automatic transmission on the S model to the 06 5spd automatic transmission? I have found an 05 with the options I want but the dealer will not budge at about $200 over invoice. Just wondering if I should wait and test drive the 06 with the 5spd automatic. Seems like it should be smoother.

    Thanks
  • cosanostracosanostra Member Posts: 97
Is the offer over? I can't get the link to work, it redirects me to the Mazda3 page but nothing mentions the offer. I figure since the 3 is in the running I might as well test drive it now and get the BB GC.
  • girmanngirmann Member Posts: 26
I was told today that they would not take it because it was no longer one of the running promotions. Is this part of negotiations, or is this true? Anyone else run in to this?

  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
I was told by one of the dealers that the main gain in the 5 speed is you get a couple miles per gallon more since the transmission can shift to lower gears quicker since each gear has less range. I didn't notice a significant difference in shifting or power.

Can anyone send me a copy of the orignal ad from Gerber. I've got the coupon code from mazda already. Many thanks
  • r2kr2k Member Posts: 25
Some for sale on eBay. Check under "gift certificates", or put "mazda 500 coupon" in the search function.

I assume you know the Gerber coupon expires on 9-30-05. Mazda is killing it then.

There are also some 'zoom-zoom' coupons up for sale. Don't know when they expire.

Real nice of Mazda now that there are no Mazda 5's for sale...was planning on geting one, but not for awhile I guess.

Hope you get a Gerber coupon before 9-30.
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
Has anyone combined these 2. Dealers told me they could be combined but I wanted to hear if anyone actually did it since I'm afraid the dealers will pull a bait and switch at the last minute and tell me I can't use both. I'm asking because I know someone who'll sell me the Zoom-Zoom certificate and I already have the Gerber one. Of couse it's not worth spending money if they cannot really be combined.
  • phindiasphindias Member Posts: 11
Do both Gerber and ACOG coupon expire on 09/30? I also wanna know if anyone has actually combined two coupons in his purchase
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
Can't see how Gerber expires on 9/30 since my Coupon they emailed me says good until 11/01
  • supergreysupergrey Member Posts: 5
ok fellas, here's my story, and i hope it could work the same for u guys. i purchased my Mazda3 S in NJ, and i was able to use 3 coupons, the zoom zoom, ACOG, and Gerber. when i first pay, i only have the zoom zoom and the ACOG with me, the Gerber is on it's way by mail, and plus a few days for the online registration. so i told them i will pay half the balance now, and the other half next week. they have no problem. then i show them i have the 2 coupons, the sales and the manager seems like never seen or heard of them. "oh, where did u get them? what's the email?" so i pointed to the fine prints on both coupons. "These offers can be combined with current public offers", also the zoom zoom can be used as is, while the ACOG needs mazda online registratioin for the coupon code. (i do have original ads, not copies). to my surprise, without haggle or debates, they gladly accepted both coupons, and gave me a mazda rebate form to sign with $1000 written on it. and i drove my 3 S home grinning all the way. then my Gerber coupon arrived, and i got the code by email from mazda, i went back to pay up the balance. i wasn't really sure if they would take the third coupon or not, but i know i will try my best to make it happen. i got to the dealer, the salesman wasn't there, n they said i could just pay at the counter. i gave the girl the check and the coupon with the email printout. she looked at the Gerber coupon, and asked about the email, "what's this?" i told her that's the code from mazda for the coupon. she brought it to the manager, and came back saying "ok, no problem". so after $1500 off, the final price for my 5spd 3S, tax n everything included, is $16959.25, and i m a happy man.

Hi, This is my first post on these forums, I just found them. I hope someone can help a little. I am buying a Mazda 3 i this week, Hopefully around Wednesday. It's a 3i with moonroof, AC, Auto, Appearance pkg 3, and a spoiler (I am getting the to add the AP 3 and Spoiler). How much should I pay for this?
About $18500 OTD ? Without any rebates or specials (Not sure where to find them).
    Any help would be great.
*edit* The Salesguy said the sticker on the car without Appearance 3 and spoiler was $17400.
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
Thanks for the update part of what I'm trying to find out. Thanks for keeping us in the loop after you bought the car. Seems like most people drop out and we never heard what happened. Anyway sounds like you were probably lucky that your salesman wasn't there since the latter person probably didn't know about your earlier coupon since it looks like from the web site that both the Gerber and ACOG coupons are exactly the same. Also like I mentioned before that they even gave me the same certificate number for both. Congradulations
  • allfiredupallfiredup Member Posts: 736
The biggest difference will be in the fuel economy. The '05 S automatic gets 24/29 and the '06 S automatic is rated at 25/31. Acceleration should also be slightly better.

The question is, does the deal they're offering you on the '05 make up for it? Have you asked this dealer what sort of price they'd give you for an '06 with the equipment you want?
  • allfiredupallfiredup Member Posts: 736
Is this an '05 or '06 model? The sticker for an '05 equipped as you listed is $19,760 and an '06 is $19,700. Carsdirect.com has the price of the '05 as $18,591 and Edmunds TMV for the '06 is $19,125. You'd still have to add tax, tag and title as well as dealer fees on to that. If it's an '05, maybe they'll be more motivated to give a better deal than these numbers.

Just curious- why did you choose the "i" model over the "s"?
  • supergreysupergrey Member Posts: 5
pete22, just to let u know, i got different coupon code for the ACOG n Gerber coupon, so it looks more legit too, i guess. i did register with different email tho, so that might help. i m still glad i was able to combine all 3 coupons, hope u guys get it too!! good luck.

    Hello,

I just saw this forum and joined. I am planning on buying a Mazda3. Can people here guide me on how I can obtain the 3 coupons every one is talking about. Gerber, ACOG and Zoom Zoom. Where can I get more info on this? I even searched ebay and could not find anything

Also can this be combined with the Mazda S plan etc pricing?
    Thanks
  • allfiredupallfiredup Member Posts: 736
Which Mazda3 model are you thinking about? Have you priced them yet?
  • octagonaloctagonal Member Posts: 2
OK... I found the best price I have gotten so far by using the edmunds mass dealer quote page. Sent my choice to 4 dealers.

    2006 MAZDA3 S, 5SPD A/T, Rear Spoiler, Side Sill Extentions

Within 20 minutes I got two calls , the first one quoting $17,778, about a hundred over invoice, + TT&L. They both said they would beat anyone in town. I am going to test drive the first one tomorrow night and the one who didn't quote me (I didn't ask at the time) on Thursday.
Tomorrow Morning I will call back and try to get a quote from the second guy that I can take to the first guy.

Is this close to the best deal I can get, or should I go in expecting a fair bit less?
