checked out that sight. Not too bad, but I'm not a member of a credit union. Anyway, I agree the Quad Cab Dakota is a good truck. I almost bought one myself, but decided to pay $2000 more for the Silverado. Tundra never interested me. I've sat in one (but did not drive it), but I need a back seat for kids and the back seat is not big enough for me...
Is most likely a lie. Dealers in Houston are always advertising 150 (insert car/truck you want) in stock ready for immediate delivery!!! When you get there they have 3 on the lot, but have a load coming in the next day. If they really do have 181 on the lot maybe they are left over T-100's rebadged as Tundras. Most people could not tell the difference anyway.
Peeking at Toyota dealerships is a common symptom of the virulent I WISH I HAD PURCHASED A TOYOTA DISEASE.....this according to the New England Journal of Medicine. The disease was first discovered in Colorado by a Dr. Goodwrench I believe. The disease has rapidly spread eastward. Major outbreaks have been reported in the Michigan area of late. Chevy owners are in the second highest risk group...trailing Dodge owners by a small margin. Please, stay inside & try not to breathe! Best of luck. You are in my prayers. Afterall, I owe you!
Well, the Dakota may be too much for the Tundra. The old Dakota, with only the 5.2L, was rated at 2,550 lbs. payload and 7,100 lbs. towing. One can only imagine what the bigger Dakota can ACTUALLY do with the 5.9L.
I haven't driven either the Dakota or the Tundra but I definately like the looks of the Dakota Quad over the Tundra. If the Tundra was built by UAW workers I still wouldn't drive one, because all the profits go back to Japan,Did you know the Tacoma is UAW made and so isn't the Corolla. But a lot americans lose their jobs because of things like the trade defecit. It probably wouldn't make a world of differance in my lifetime if I decided to buy A Toyota but it may effect my neices and nephews and maybe my kids someday if I ever decide to have any. I know the Tundra has a 4.7 and so does the Dakota what are the specs between the two? I've never really looked into that. Are they real close in power and towing capabilities?
That's tough especially from a Union guy. You won't buy a Toy even if UAW guys made it? I also have to disagree about the looks issue. I know, it's subjective but I wouldn't want a truck that looks like a "sister" truck of a full sizer. The Dakota was fine before the makeover.
I don't know..I guess you could call my logic kind of stupid, but in a way it makes sense.why not keep try to keep americans working. And its not as if the American trucks are junk I think they put out great products. There is a site called union made and it lists any things that are union made and union approved,The Tacoma and Corolla are on there.I just wouldn't buy one of them until some things change a little. But I think the Ranger is the better truck anyway.
comparing the Tundra with the Quad cab is pretty meaningless. Quad cab is in the same mix as the Super Crew F150 and (to some degree) Nissan Frontier 4 door. The Tundra is more like the Dakota club cab.
The only thing them tundras be competin with is them t100 ones now. And like them t100 ones, when the yuppies tires of em, they be gone too. Good luck on this one now!
In an earlier post, you stated "Dodge Dakota Quad Cab-the ONLY true sport-utility vehicle on the market-cause there ain't nothin' it can't do". It is good that you called it an SUV and not a pickup (although this is a pickup topic). Because as a pickup, there is at least ONE thing that it cannot do. It cannot tow a 5th wheel trailer because the distance from the back of the cab to the rear axle is too short. But it shares this problem with any of the new, smaller crew cabs including the F150 SuperCrew. The Tundra AccessCab also suffers in this area.
I don't think those Tundra #'s are for a 4x4... as far as 5th wheel towing, what a stupid comment-nobody sane tows a 5th wheel with a 1/2 ton truck, regular, extended, or quad configuration. The Quad can't do a double-axel either...but that don't make it less of a truck...also, payload and towing MAX numbers are as I stated the first time, on a quad with 5.9l and 3:92 rear-
Ya said: ...as far as 5th wheel towing, what a stupid comment-nobody sane tows a 5th wheel with a 1/2 ton truck...
For ya information now, folks be usin them 5th wheels on them 1/2 "full size" ones all the time, and have been for some years now! Funny how ya yuppies be thinkin ya be that "expert" on these here trucks, when ya aint got no knowin on em at all now. Best go on back too fad chasin, leave them "facts" on them trucks too them that have the knowin on em. Good luck on this one now!
Trucksrme- I said "sane", I didn't say it couldn't be done...funny, out where I live, all the 5th wheels are being pulled by F350's 3500's or Ram 3500's....I don't see too many horse trailers or RV's bein' towed by 1/2 ton pickups....only you consider yourself an expert....keep towing them cases 'o butter beans with yer 1/2 ton truck, jus' like the ole days...who buys a 1/2 ton truck to tow a 5th wheel? Or, who buys a Dakota, which is a midsize truck, to tow a 5th wheel? Course, I live out in the country....so I wouldn't know squat about "real" trucker's...we jus' got pretend cowboys out here in the Central Valley, CA, good ole' US of A....hell, I ain't even got a high school education....
Quark Actually, i've seen quite a few 5th wheels pulled by 1/2 tons. Just because the hitch is 5th wheel, doesn't mean the load is 12,000 lbs. I've seen lots of medium sized horse trailers and travel trailers w/5th wheel hooked up to a half ton.
RichinKs is regular here that has been pulling a 5th wheel with his z71 and 350.
Ya aint got the know, and that be the fact on that now. Them 1/2 ton ones be just fine on that 5th, it be makin for easier towin and such. Them yuppies be judgin this and that by what they be "seein", why them that work em be knowin this and that by doin. This be the difference between that "expert" yuppie, and them folks that know cuz he be workin em and such. Good luck on this one now!
Don Mcgill Toyota (Houston, TX) is offering $4,000 discounts on all 4x4 Tundras and as of last Saturday 2.9 % APR to boot. That means you could buy the Tundra Bamma priced out (in post 238) for only $23,144, or $1,051 below invoice. I would pick the Tundra over the Dakota at that price (if I was looking for a compact or Midsize truck). In my experience Toyota does not discount this much and offer special interest rates. Is Toyota changing its marketing approach? Maybe they want to make the 100,000 unit mark and are willing to drop the price to do it. The one think Toyota has had in the past is ok resale value, one reason for this is they did not drop their price as much as the Big 3. On the other hand the Big 3 have always been willing to discount, so it is built into the resale value charts. That thud sound you hear is the value of your Tundra dropping..
Them tundras be goin the way of them t100 ones even quicker now. That truth be gettin out on em fast now. They aint got the haul in em, and folks be learnin this quick. Good luck on this one now!
Comparing the Tundra and the Dakota Quad Cab is stupid. The only thing the Quad Cab has going for it is a lot of room for passengers. I wish some day they could add a pickup box to it.
Now that be the funny one, them tundra folk sayin that that box on some other one aint very big. Eyeball that "full size" box on them limited ones now, then do that compare too them big3 ones. Ya gettin that humor on this one now? Good luck on this one now!
There are plenty of 5th wheel units that weigh between 4000 and 7000 lbs with hitch weights of 700 to 1400 lbs which are well within the ratings of a 1/2 ton truck. I have 50K miles of experience with such a combination. And there are many others out there that like this balance between size and comfort. Maybe, just the BIG rigs get your attention, but 1 ton and dullie trucks are roughly needed for 30 ft. and larger trailers.
The real point is that no single truck can do everything. That is why there are so many configurations and options. Thanks to others for adding your comments.
Methinks that it takes some skill to play the fool....albeit not too convincingly...has trucksrme ever actually been on a farm? Actually know what a butter bean is? Ever owned a '60-'70's "big3" truck? Gut says trucksrme is a closet yuppie, since he thinks he's got the knowin' of spottin' yuppies here on this board....perhaps a Manhattan suit in disguise, hopin' and wishin' he was a real country boy....probably drives an Acura, Accord, or Corolla....maybe someday will get to drive somebody else's truck...good luck on that one now! BTW, I think the whole idea of the Quad was to trade off some bed space for passenger room...and yes, I've seen small 1 horse-trailers being pulled by regular 1/2 ton trucks (full-size)..I don't think I've ever seen any small or midsize truck setup for a 5th wheel......but that doesn't mean it can't be done....
If ya just be realizin ya paided all that money for one of them limited ones ya be gettin upset now too. Pity them yuppies, they be needin it now. Good luck on this one now!
So - you Tundra bashers are taking the high road? Are you the same person who resorted to name calling a couple of weeks ago? And who holds the record for the most posts deleted by Meredith? Don't act so lily white.
Quad. What a joke! He bashes posters for name calling and then calls them all losers! I'm still laughing!
I got these facts from the May '00 issue of Motor Trend. They did a comparison of "full size" pickups. They rated the biggest, baddest Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 L V8 and the 4.1 gears (which by the way is only rated to tow 8000lbs). They also rated the biggest F150 with the 5.4L V8 and the Dodge 1500 with 5.9L against the Tundra Access Cab V8.
You would think that this would be a mismatch. The Silverado does have that barcolounger rear seat. The Big3 engines are much bigger.
Here is the conclusion of the Motor Trend article:
And the winner is... Which to Pick? In terms of overall performance and sophistication - on road and off - we have to say Tundra.
Just use your eyes on that size now. Them tundra be 25% too 33% smaller than them big3 ones now. Quit readin bout them tundras size, and use your own eyes on this one! Good luck on this one now!
some heat at times...but very few of my posts are deleted....I may be part of a discussion that gets deleted..but I learned what to say and not to say.
I have the talent to tick you off..(like now)...without personal attack. Now when I am attacked....of course then I retaliate....to a certain degree that keeps me here...
We was talkin bout how them tundra=less truck, more buck. Bama be needin too use his eyes on this one, quit readin on it in them magazines and such. Them eyes dont lie bama, that limited one really be 25%-32% smaller than them big3 ones. Good luck on this one now!
Actually, I think that it is hilarious that you resort to namecalling and then complain when another poster namecalls. Sort of hippocritical - isn't it?
They still giving out a free Tundra with every set of Ginsu knives??? Never thought of buying a Tundra, but a good set of knives are hard to come by. I can always throw the Tundra in the bed of my full size truck so my 11 year old will have something to do at the lake on weekends!
It is a shame the Chevy can't compete with the Tundra. A smaller truck and it still cleans the Chevies clock. Man! Chevy "full-size" sure are wimpy! If you guys bought houses like you bought trucks you would all be living in barns. "Yeah, it ain't much - but its BIG"

Two-year supply? Here in my area, that would be a six-month supply for a big dealer.

Almost makes you wanna help them poor Mid-size Tundra Owners out......NOT!

They've hurled all the labels, hick, bigot, inbreed, village idiot, etc. Second thought, losers probably keep a few more of these terms in reserve.
