just picked up my new IS350. Anyone bought an extended warranty for post 50k miles and 4 yrs to 7 yrs and up to 100k miles. feedback, experiences and prices paid?
  • billy2jonebilly2jone Member Posts: 15
they did not call you back because with lexus you cannot pick and choose your options. They come the way they come. I wish it was easier but I guess this is the way they do things.

I have a good idea. Why don't you just go to dinner and enjoy your car. Be happy. Who cares about what others paid. the main thing is that you are happy.

    Keep it under 100

used cars do not lease well. Unless you are a finance major leasing is very complicated. Get a new one it will be cheaper.

    carry on

anyone compared the base stereo to the mark levinson. is the ML that much better? i have heard the base unit and it sounded tremendous.

the DVD feature of the ML is nice, but given the fact that you cant watch while driving, i consider it a worthless feature.

Westminster: 30,887 for a "SoCal base" premium package, 18" wheels, HIDs

Everyone else seems only willing to match, not beat this quote. Longo was rude and said they would email me and never did, Keyes just said "we don't quote over the phone." Crown in Ontario wanted to do business, but only matched and tried to push one with nav on me for "less the $34K." I know some of you socal shoppers are getting fabulous deals, any advice or opinions would be appreciated.
  • jerberosjerberos Member Posts: 3
Shopped at four dealers in so cal. Best deal was at Keyes and westminster (internet dept) offer was lower than Longo's. Don't waste your time at Cerritos they were rude and did not want to deal... check out their F rating from the BBB. in the end i bought it at Westminster for less than your quote, email me at jerberos@gmail.com for contact info.
  • fumanchu00fumanchu00 Member Posts: 2
got mine for $500 under invoice at jim falk in beverly hills. is250 rwd w/ NAV. relatively pleasant experience. had the same experience as you did with Longo... they never emailed me back.

at santa monica, back in december, i was told by their internet dept that $1500 UNDER invoice would "not be a problem". (did not get a firm price quote though) but as of jan, santa monica was not even willing to come down to invoice pricing.

keyes in van nuys was downright rude. i went there to test drive about a month ago and they were quoting me MSRP! i told him what i would be willing to pay and he shoots back "oh, are you sure you want to buy the IS250 and not toyota camry?" what an a-hole! will not EVER go back there!

in the end, got what i wanted at the price i wanted from bev hills.

I had to custom order my 2007 IS250AWD with ML WITHOUT Nav. It exists but usually has to be ordered from Japan. It can take up to 3 months to arrive. Orders are placed to Lexus around the 20th of the month. Figure 8-10 weeks after that. I got mine loaded-up except for Nav,Park Assist(mistake not to get PA),Radar Cruise Ctl. The Luxury Pkg really is nice. I enjoy the lighted sills and the rear sun screen for extra privacy. Also; I was able to make a terrific deal since the dealer did not have to carry the vehicle. Good luck. It is worth the wait to get how you want it.
  • md_rocksmd_rocks Member Posts: 41
Hmmm the price I've been seeing is about $200 over invoice. Fumanchu, can you email your specific contact info to richard.l.chang@gmail.com? thanks.
  • md_rocksmd_rocks Member Posts: 41
OK another update - ON a random "spam" email, Westminster has lowered the price to $30,587. Thanks to Tim for emailing the contact info, I will get in touch with that guy tomorrow morning.

Where is Westminster located at? Can you give me the contact info?

Mr. Fumanchu00, can you please share the detail of your purchase and the actual price paid please.

    MSRP: $35,222
    Includes:
    Other Includes:
    Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
    High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps
18" Alloy Wheels With Summer Tires
Cargo Net, Trunk Mat, Wheel Locks
    Premium Plus Package Includes:
    Bird's Eye Maple Interior Trim
    Heated & Ventilated Front Seats
    Perforated Leather Seats

    $30,587

Several dealers are willing to match this, Longo said he would beat it ($30,500) and he has the red/cashmere combo I want. I called Westminster back but they still haven't gotten back to me.
  • prancinghorse9prancinghorse9 Member Posts: 11
Hi, thanks for replying, this is not out of the door price right?
almost 5000 off looks pretty good
  • fumanchu00fumanchu00 Member Posts: 2
yep... same options as what md_rocks wrote in his reply (i'll copy and paste here)

    Other features:
    Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
    High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps
18" Alloy Wheels With Summer Tires
Cargo Net, Trunk Mat, Wheel Locks
    Premium Plus Package Includes:
    Bird's Eye Maple Interior Trim
    Heated & Ventilated Front Seats
    Perforated Leather Seats

    PLUS Navigation

    MSRP - $37,772
    Invoice was $33,354
I got $500 under, so came out to $32,854

For TTL add about 9.25% or so. OTD was $35,898.92.

    Hope this helps!
  • md_rocksmd_rocks Member Posts: 41
Correct - not OTD. Even the carsdirect.com price is $30,571 now though (I just checked). SO methinks there's even more room to haggle if I had the time. I just don't know how much further they can go considering the edmunds invoice price.

Most dealers now just say "you gotta come on down" kind of thing. Westminster balked at my longo quote, and even that hasn't been confirmed through email. Since the prices all seem so close with no dealer willing to smash the $30K barrier (at least without taking me behind the woodshed on the trade-in I would guess), I may just go with the dealer closest to me so my service appointments are nice and smooth. Although I haven't tested too many with that figure yet, I doubt it'll go over well.

    Thanks Fumanchu and Md Rocks
    Very helpful info.
I bought a gs300 in 2000 at longo, the sales(big korean dude, was their fllet manager) later went to westminster but is no longer there anymore.
Anyway, I went in with the cardirect price thinking that will be my goal, he gave me $500 lower on the spot. But they didn't have the right color(silver), but one was on the way in 2 weeks. I picked up the car 2 weeks later and he knocked off another 500 on the spot for the wait.
My point is I think there is still room to work with under under the cardirect price.
Gosh, I wish I find that guy and then, I wouldn't have to work so hard now trying to get pricing
  • malueymaluey Member Posts: 4
so what was your final price? otd price and specs on your is250 please. thanks!
  • billy2jonebilly2jone Member Posts: 15
I have always had great experiences buying cars. You have to do it right. Negotiating when you have not selected a particular car that is right in front of you or one that they have in the correct configuration does not make any sense. Once you have the car then go for it. But you have to be ready to drive it away. This is the only way to get the best price. I hate to say it but I can see why the rude salespeople quote so high. Not to mention that sales people have no authority to authorize any price other than MSRP.
  • smoothsailingsmoothsailing Member Posts: 1
I have recently ordered a 2007 IS 250 and impatiently await its arrival. When it's ready to be driven off the lot I know that I should scrutinize the car before taking ownership.

Between the months of waiting and my excitement about the car I just know that I will not see anthying wrong with it short of bullet holes or a smashed winshield. Its my first new car. My anticipation is palpable.

I am asking "What should I look for?" or more importanly "What are the minor details the dealer hopes I will overlook?" I recognize that its under warranty and I can return anytime for service. Some things are best addressed prior to driving off the lot.

Its a Lexus so I expect nothing significant to appear. I am interested in hearing about your experiences. What were the minor details you overlooked and wished you hadn't?

Hi I am about to get an Lexus IS 250 AWD without Nav, the dealer offers me price 36,500 OTD price. Is it a good deal? I am not sure if it comes with a luxury package or just basic, I haven't talk to them about this issue. But I believe it is just the basic, the MSRP on the AWD is about 34,280. I live in NY and the tax rate is 8.375%. Am I getting a good deal?
  • anne618anne618 Member Posts: 3
I am considering purchase of an IS250 AWD but balk at expense of premium fuel. My current car is an Infiniti G35 which runs great on regular fuel and before it, I owned 2 Audi A4s, both of which I ran on regular with no problem - one of them for more than 100,000 miles! The IS250 already gets fairly poor mileage as is, so need to run premium really adds to total fuel costs for this vehicle when compared to A4 or G35 with AWD.

Anyone out there who has run with regular fuel or who can comment?

    Thanks!

Here's a rough list that I put together from other Lexus forum sites:

    Drive-off Checklist

    1. Look at it in the sun. Check for defects in the finish and scratches.

    2. Get down on your hands and knees and check the panels below the doors and the front skirt to make sure nobody
has whacked the front of the car taking it off the truck.

    3. Look at the exhaust pipes and make sure they are not dangling well below the car.

    4. Check the tire pressure.

    5. Be sure they give you a full tank of gas.

    6. Make them give you the baseball cap.

    7. Carefully listen to each speaker at moderate volume to assure they are all working.

    8. Drive it over some speed bumps with the salesperson ro make sure the dash doesn’t rattle.

    9. Check all dash components for fit and finish.

    10. Rub your fingers over the steering wheel to make sure it is smooth.

    11. Assure that you have the cargo net, floor mats, and leather key fob cases.

Test everything by turning it on or briefly using it - wipers, washers, a/c, heater, lights, turn signals,
trunk release, gas cap door release, hood release, rear shade, backup camera, all audio modes, visor lights,
seat movement, seat heaters & fans, mirror movement, all doors including ashtray and glove box, window operation,
doorlock operation, some basic nav functions, climate & nav voice commands, horn, sun roof, parking brake, etc.
This is just a check to see if anything is obviously broken.

Look under the hood and in and under (spare tire & tool set) the trunk. Note anything suspicious looking. Ask
    questions if you have any.

Driving: check noises especially, guage operation, cruise control, braking ability, smoothness of turns, compass
    & nav accuracy.

It would be a good thing to sit inside with a knowledgeable salesperson and go over features like how to set the
climate controls or choose a nav location or reset display options. That is, if by this point you aren't jumping
out of your skin wanting to just take off for home in your ruby red dream machine!

    12. DON'T MOUNT FRONT LICENSE PLATE IF YOU CAN

Well, going by Fu Manchu's numbers (couple of posts back) here in So Cal, your deal is not so hot...

He got the prem package (very common so maybe this is basic for you) + NAV + HID + 18in + wheel locks, trunk mat, net for ~$35,900.

Then again, we are not exactly comparing apples to apples because you are in NY and in So Cal now, IS250s are in abundant supply.

DOH! Sorry, you have AWD. Hmm. Edmunds' difference in invoice price for RWD and AWD is ~$2500.

Still, invoice for NAV is like ~$2000, and the rest of the options that Fu got more than makes up for the price diff between RWD and AWD. The MSRP for Fu's car is $37,772. He paid $35,900 OTD. Almost $2000 diff between MSRP and OTD! AWD is more rare though.

SO, guessing at NY's market and the premium for AWD - I would say that if your car's MSRP is 34,280, IMO if you get:

    34,280 OTD = Awesome! =)
    35,280 OTD = great deal
    35,700 OTD = good deal
    36,200 OTD = ok deal
36,500 OTD = still, not so hot.

What were other dealers quoting you? I don't have a great feel for NY's market. I heard the Northeast is getting "raped" according to some Lexus forums on the prices.
  • jimjaijimjai Member Posts: 22
Damn thanks for the laying out that for me. I appreciate your time.

I haven't been too much dealers because I got a full time job and by the time I get off they are about to close. I currently do not own a car, that's another issue. So I have to stop on Saturday and check out their price. There are 3 Lexus dealerships BUT!!! they own by the same BOSS so they can't really compete with the deal that the other one offers

If I can get a Deal like in So Cal, I WILL DIE FOR IT!!! Here's what I found out, I dont' want the basic (premium package) I want at least the Luxury package because there are a couple features that I need and Luxury package costs around 2g on Lexus's website. If that adds to my 36,500 it is gonna be 38,500 with Lexury Package, which is WAY OVERPRICED (As least I think)

It is hard to deal with these sale consultants because I know the invoice price is around 30g for AWD (source = yahoo.com) And they just lie in front of me you know.

Another Issue is that Lexus dealers WILL NOT deal with you over the phone, they wanna see you in face. So if I go to New Jersey, it is gonna be another long trip for me since I do not own a car.

If you can give me away to deal with my local dealer or NJ dealers over the phone it will be great. I am not so good at negotiation.
  • benzserviceguybenzserviceguy Member Posts: 96
    OK, lets see now ...
You pay close to 35K for a premium car and you're gonna chintz out on the gas??

Here in Cali the difference between reg (87) and Premium (91) is +/- .20 * 17 gal tank so your talking about $3.40 per fill up .. LESS THAN that $4.50 Starbuck frappicino or large soy latte.

Also, you might not know it but, by using premium, you're fuel mileage will increase which means LESS trips to the pump.
Premium fuels burns better than regular, thereby increasing mileage. So while you might be spending MORE in the beginning at the pump but you will spend LESS in the long run by filling up less often.

Do youself and the car a favor ... use premium which is what the car calls for (due to it's high compression engine)

    DON'T BE A CHEAPSKATE!!
  • vliangvliang Member Posts: 9
Man, that sucks that they won't deal with you over the phone.

I'm about to purchase a IS250 w/NAV soon, and I do most of my initial inquiries over email. I even got numbered price quotes over email - although this is rarer. I believe many So Cal people have similar experiences as I do - some did all of their negotiations over email - all they had to do was walk in and sign the paperwork!

All I can say is first try sending inquiries first with email - and then follow up with calls. Be civil, even if the salesperson is rude, compliment them in your initial email even - like say "I've heard great things about your dealership, etc."

Point out your research and probably the best thing to do is ask around in Lexus forums (my.is or clublexus, etc), and forums like this to see what your peers in the NY/NJ area are getting.

    Good Luck.
  • vliangvliang Member Posts: 9
    Forgot to add:

The luxury package is rare for the IS250 I believe. It is not a common package offered in So Cal. Adding it with the IS250AWD is even rarer.

If that's your requirement, it's not likely you'll have a lot of room to bargain. Dealers want to sell what they have (in that case more bargaining power to you), but if they have to special order that car for you (more power to them).

    Good Luck!
  • css1css1 Member Posts: 247
The base AWD IS 250 w/ nav you can get for 35K +TTL. This setup is common.
With Lux pkg is rare - Lux w/o nav is harder to come by - you will have better luck in NJ, I think.

Although I purchased in NJ my car came from Pennsylvania!!

You need to compare apples to apples - You can have two cars with nav but their MSRP is different due to individual stand alone options. - not everything is a pkg. Make sure you are comparing pricing on similarly equipped cars.

There are advertising fees that are added to the Invoice so what Edmunds shows is not accurate.

If you get at lease 10% off MSRP your better than OK.

Try Warnock in Livingston , NJ
  • jimjaijimjai Member Posts: 22
I would like to get 10% off MSRP too lol, that's like 31,000. Anyway I will look into Warnock In Livingston Jersey and check it out. Thanks a lot

[non-permissible content removed], if I can deal through email it is gonna work out like a charm but too bad they can't even deal with me over the phone. But I got some nice updates though.

Made and recieved a couple phone calls, now I dropped my OTD price down to 36,000 with Luxury Package instead of Premium, so I dropped 500 more and jump from Premium package to Luxury. This is getting BETTER!!! I am planning to purchase my car next week, and currently dealing with 3-4 dealers, let's see if I can squeeze some more out of these dealers. Tell me how am I doing? :shades:

36000 OTD with Lux package, AWD, and in the Northeast? I would say you are doing pretty good!

    Hi,

I am about to get a RWD 07 IS250 w/ prem package for $32,888.57 OTD. I was wondering if this a good deal, great deal, average...? The quote is from so cal. :confuse:
  • jimjaijimjai Member Posts: 22
After reading most of the posts here, I am sure you can do much better than that crislenah Some people in here can get 34000 OTD price with IS 250 AWD /w Nav
  • md_rocksmd_rocks Member Posts: 41
Same options as my previous post so I won't bother pasting it in here. Everyone ended up matching everybody else, but I got from Tustin Lexus because they were the closest and they have a program where I can prepay for all the tires my car needs for as long as I own the car.

$33000 OTD before tires/100K warranty. I didn't include those b/c not everyone will get those. I think I did pretty good. I think the before tax was right around $30,300. Got Black Sapphire/Cashmere. Was going to get Matador Red - if anyone wants a pristine Matador Red - go to Westminster. I left one there with the plastic still on it.

33k for IS 250 AWD OTD Price? If so which package? I couldn't find your previous post bout the pricing/packages
  • karespearkarespear Member Posts: 1
Which dealership is this? The best I've gotten for the IS 250 is 32,887 plus tax and licensing and not OTD from Tustin Lexus.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    That's an excellent DEAL!!!!
I live in Irvine, and today asked for quote via email.
They gave me $33,186.00 which I was not too pleased with.

I am right now shopping btw G35 Sedan & IS250.

This is what the internet specialist from Tustin Lexus wrote.

"I'm sorry to say if you compare the two cars, the only thing going for the Infinity is that it has more horsepower. The Lexus has a 6speed auto vs G35's 5sp, the Is has a tighter turning radius, larger brakes, better gas mileage, Ventalated and heat seats (G35 only has heated front seats), standard 13 speaker stereo vs. G35's 6 speakers, standard auto headlights (not available on G35) and many more. So you can see that while the G35 may seem less expensive
when you compare standard features the Lexus is a far better value."

Okay...So, I would like to see if I can get the best value deal. I do no really need Nav. option. $33000 OTD sounds excellent. Which option did you get with this? How much did it cost tires/100K warranty?

    Let's get some good deal!!!!
    Thanks!!!

    IS 250 RWD
    -Premium Package
    -Navigational system
    -floor mats
    -HID headlights
    -18in. alloy wheels

all this for $33,000 plus tax and lic.

I live in cental cali. Any advice would really help. This is my first time getting a Lexus. Thanks
  • jimjaijimjai Member Posts: 22
Your MRSP on your car with the packages is about 37715 and you got 4000 dollars off that before tax. Not too bad, but you can do better. I would say if they can give you 33000-34500 OTD, you are doing good
  • vimobroomvimobroom Member Posts: 2
    Hi, we are talking about.

    IS 250 RWD
    MSRP: $35,222
    Includes:
    Other Includes:
    Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
    High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps
18" Alloy Wheels With Summer Tires
Cargo Net, Trunk Mat, Wheel Locks
    Premium Plus Package Includes:
    Bird's Eye Maple Interior Trim
    Heated & Ventilated Front Seats
    Perforated Leather Seats

    $30,300

I have contacted Tustin Lexus and they have told me they will match this. I am going to ask for $29,999 to see if this is possible. Only $301 more off, but it sure sounds like a big drop from $30k....

I will be visiting dealership on Friday to pick colors and so on. Anyone who would like information I work with to get this awesome deal, lmk. mreveretto @ hotmail
