I got some numbers for the 2015 SE w/Connectivity and Nav which seem great but includes a lot of bells and whistles that I don't really care about so wanted to compare to a more base 2016.

Yes.. $500 lease cash is separate. It's a dealer incentive, though... so, likely already accounted for in your quote.

Btw, what would my payments be if the truecar quote I got was -$5,258 off MSRP including the $2,000 Loyalty bonus offer for being a current VW owner? Is this dare I say, too good to be true?

Thanks! Just a followup. What do I do if there is a dealer saying the residual is 52%? I thought residual was something mandated by higher ups then the local dealer level?

Residual is set by the bank and cannot be modified. I would double check the lease term and miles per year, and that this is a VW credit sponsored lease.

Just a follow up, I went to the dealer and they quoted me 62% and .00250 MF for 36mo/12k.
They did give me the "discount" of -$5,258, but wouldn't budge on that $699 dealer fee or the MF, saying that the .00250 was final. My credit is in the 740-770 range so I know I qualify for the best offers.

They wouldn't show me how they calculated their numbers, just a quote of $307/mo with $1700(1st month payment, tax, title, dealer fee (LOL!) + other stuff I don't remember) due at signing. This was not taking into account my trade in value. I negotiated the price of the car separately and those were supposedly their "best" numbers

They then low balled me on my trade by 2-3k and they wouldn't even negotiate saying they were "losing money on the car" and that they "could sell it to someone else and make money". The guy then said if I wasn't going to buy from them I was wasting their time and that they "didn't need my business" lol, so I just got up and left.

Did I have unreasonable expectations or was I right to walk away? I mean, they marked up the MF by half, and had a very high fee...the unwillingness to negotiate my trade-in value was a deal breaker. My payments would have been in the $518+ tax range...

I would have walked... a low price that's conditional on being gouged on every other variable is no deal.

At the moment, you must have a VW registered in the household to qualify for the $2000 incentive.

Fellow Potential Jetta Owners,

I just picked up a 2016 Jetta GLI SEL Manual on Monday (technically an October Fiscal Month deal), using October numbers and rebates.

Here are the specifics:

2016 Jetta GLI SEL Manual (Lighting Pkg and Driver Asst)

24 Month Lease
15,000 miles per year

MF: 0.00125

MSRP: 30,500
Selling Price: 26,974 (includes 500 Partner Rebate and 500 Lease Cash)
Less loyalty rebate: 2,000

Total Cap cost: 24,874

Residual Value: 20,435 (67%)

Monthly Payment: 245.88

NJ Tax, Inception, DMV, Doc Fees out of pocket: 1,800.00
First Month out of pocket: 245.88

Total Due at signing: 2,045.88

Dealer was easy to work with. I did most of the transaction over the phone and was in the dealership less than 45 minutes to do a final test drive and sign the paperwork.

I am looking at a 2016 VW Jetta GLI SEL. Considering a 12k/36mth lease. Looks like money factor should be .00080 and residual 61%.

I am seeing reference to $750 lease cash and is there also an owner loyalty incentive- if so how much? Is it $1,500 or $2,000.

Basically looking to confirm the following:

money factor
residual %
Lease cash
Loyalty incentive
Does VW have a standard acquisition fee?
I am being given a dealer fee which seems quite excessive.

Lease cash is $750.
Either $1500 loyalty or $1000 conquest cash.
$625 acquisition fee

Dealer fees are just that... dealer fees. I consider anything over $50 to be excessive, but depending on where you live, they may be much, much higher than that. Consider any dealer fee to be a part of the selling price and negotiate accordingly. (If you want to pay $28,000 and the dealer fee is $500, then you should negotiate a price of $27,500).
