    OOPS... copied from 2015....

I am trying to do something less popular I guess because my dealer can't give me a good answer.

I'm looking at a fully optioned 2016 M235i X convertible. Sticker is $59120. I want to do a 2 year 10k mile lease with 1 payment... meaning tell me the depreciation and I'll give you a check for $25k or whatever it is at signing.

So far all he sent me was basically a 24 month lease where all the payments are added together. No point in my paying interest if I make the entire payment at once!

What should I be telling him? What is the residual on that? does money factor even matter on single payment?

Making the full lease payment upfront does not mean there is no interest.. Paying the depreciation upfront doesn't finance the whole car.

Anyway... all single-pay leases are calculated that way. The savings comes from a discount to the normal lease money factor. So, the monthly payment is calculated using the lower/discounted money factor, then the payments are added together and that is your single payment (plus all of the other garbage you have to pay with a regular lease).

But (and this a BIG but), right now, BMWFS isn't offering any money factor discount for single-pay leases.
So, you are correct. There is absolutely no advantage to pre-paying your lease. Everyone else is still giving a healthy discount for single-pay, but not BMWFS.

    .00130 MF and 63% residual for 24mo, 10K/yr.

To make it even worse, BMW is really not incentivizing the 24 month term, at all. The 36 month residual is just 6% less. The lease would be much better on a leftover 2015 model, but of course, those don't come in AWD.

Thanks much for the breakdown explanation.
And yes in fully aware the 16 comes with a stiff $ penalty. But it's the only one in stock fully outfitted.

I'm looking into getting the 2016 228i with 6 speed manual transmission.

The car I priced out was:

    Black Sapphire Metallic Exterior
Black SensaTec w/ Red Highlight Interior
    Cold Weather Package
    Technology Package
    Premium Package
    Driver Assistance Package
    Harmon Kardon Surround Sound System

    3 Year Lease, with 15,000 Miles/Year

    No down payment
Taxes, Fees and first month at signing

This is the deal the dealer gave me...
Due at signing - $3,261.95 (Taxes, Fees, & First Month)
    $565.17/month

    MSRP is $41,820
    Cap Cost. - $40,000
    Money Factor - .0013
    Residual Value - 54%

He told me that's the deal right now and I'm locked into that price but the deals could still get better in the coming months but that is worst case scenario. Is that a good deal?

I agree with the MF and residual values.

I get the same payment the dealer does with those numbers.

$1800 off sticker isn't much but seeing it's a brand new model year, I don't know that you can do better at this time.

I just got a price from another dealer using TrueCar...with all the same options and MSRP, they gave me a sale price of $39,070 and gave me a monthly price of $532/ month. Obviously thats much better than my first price, is that a good price?

.00130 and 56% - max MSD reduces the MF to .00081

Using your prices, I get a payment of $446/mo plus tax.

If all 7 MSDs were used, MF would drop to .00085.

Each MSD is the monthly payment rounded up to the next $50.

They moved the incentive to the 39 month term. If you stick with that, it's comparable to last month (or better, with the increased incentives).

I have always bought my cars outright and have usually kept them for 5-10 years. However, as I am now a bit older (77,) I may not be around to keep a car too long, so I'm trying to weigh the benefits of leasing vs buying. I intend to trade in my very well-kept 2005 2.5L Z4 for a 2016 228i coupe (estimated MSRP $42,645) that will be driven about 5K miles/yr and figure I may get the 228i for around $31-32K. Buying the car outright is no problem, but leasing for around 3 years does appeal to me. So, two questions:
    1. What is the present MF/Residual for such leasing?
    2. I realize, or think I realize, that one probably pays some kind of premium for leasing. And, although I can afford to pay the premium, I'd still like to know what it might be (assuming that if I bought the car, that I'd be selling it at the end of that 3-yr period)?

This month, 39 months is the best term for the 2-series.

    .00131 and 55% for 39/10.

There is an acquisition fee of $925 assigned when you lease, and a disposition fee when you turn the car in after 3 years.

I'm not a lawyer (nor do I play one on the internet), but you might want to check into disposition issues if you aren't around to complete the lease. Might be easier if you bought the car outright.

Thanks! Would it be the same for the non-xdrive models?

Also, I just went to BMW's site and noticed they are showing a residual of 60% based upon their current lease offers? For example, the M235i xdrive is $499/month based on a MSRP of $47,145 with lease end purchase price of $28,287 (60%)? Not sure if that is how the above is determined, but wanted to double-check.

    Appreciate the help!

All 2-series have the same numbers this month. Can't explain why the BMW website might show something different.

Hello, what are the incentives running this month and what do they mean? i.e. option allowance?

Can you predict what incentives are coming up in February? Maybe for President's weekend?

Option allowance is BMW-speak for a discount from sticker offered by the factory, in addition to any discount you can negotiate.

No predictions on what the numbers will look like next month.
