Thank you very much. Just wanted to confirm the residual at 66% for a 15k lease? Seemed a little high from the other posts from other regions..thanks

Very few members ask for info on the base model.

That number is correct for that model. It's not regional.

Just picked up a 2017 Outback Limited with Eyesight...sticker was just under 36K....zero drive off, 35 payments of 360 including 9% CA tax....36 month/12000 miles a year.

Loving car so far...but I've only driven it from Pacific Subaru to my house! And, FWIW, dealership was terrific...highly recommended, especially Jim Nielsen in Internet Department.

A lot of dealers here refused to do Zero Drive Off...said it was against Subaru policy. I smelled BS, but not exactly sure what the dealers gain by getting a minimum drive off vs. nothing?

Also, one dealer claimed the reason is that people would never make payments, and it would be very difficult then to made whole...that seems made up...most people with a high credit score want to keep it that way!

On my last two leases (Hyundai and VW), my only drive off cost was the first payment. Everything else was either paid by the available lease cash or rolled into the cap cost.

The only other cost you should pay up front are the DMV costs (if that's how your state works - it doesn't in Colorado where I live).

Dealers will say a lot of things to separate you from your money.

And, the dealer shouldn't care if the payments are made or not - it's the bank's problem at that point.

I did a Subaru lease in 2008, through SMF.. ZERO drive off, with 23 more payments on a 24 month lease.

In certain states, I could see a requirement to pay DMV fees upfront, but that's about it.

I've leased my last dozen cars with zero drive off here in LA (Audi, Ford, Toyota etc...), so it's not a state issue.

Hi, from reading through past posts, I gather that the December residual and money factor on an outback limited with eyesight and nav at 36/10 would be .65 and .00065 with tier 1 credit, and that those numbers are national. What FICO score is needed to qualify for tier 1 credit -- 700 or above? Thanks.

Thanks Michaell for providing these numbers. It's amazing how these dealers react when you ask them for the residual and MF and tell them the numbers. I think they need to change the way they do business and make these numbers available more openly. Nevertheless just got a lease on the 3.6R Ltd. Negotiated the price down from over 38K to 33.3K. Payment is $329 including 5% tax for a 12k/year lease. Payment of $425 includes first month and title and upfront county tax. Although we only discuss the MF and residuals in this forum I just wanted to provide this as a marker for those in the market. This is in Colorado.

Here is the quote I got from one the dealers in SF bay area for Limited with navigation and eyesight

Sign and drive no money down,
    Msrp is $35832
    Selling price is $31551
    Cap cost is $33022.62
    Residual value is $22932.48
    Money factor is 0.00115

    $377 (including tax). 12k miles, 36 months

How is it? Can we do better?

    .00065 MF and 64% residual.
The money factor is marked up the maximum from the base amount.
That adds about $30/mo. to the payment.

I would pay the DMV fees upfront (about $400?), as those are non-taxable. When they get rolled into the payment, you are paying sales tax on them.

Yeah, thats what I thought about MF. I have always been confused with a zero drive. So in above case I should be paying at least paying First month payment+dmv fee (~$800). Is that correct?

    Thanks.

After some back n forth we now have a new quote for the Touring 2.5 model. $377(including tax), 0 down and $800 drive off which includes DMV, fee and first month payment.

I am waiting on other details from dealer but I know that the MSRP is $37683 and cap cost is $34702. I am thinking this is a good deal and mostly will recommend my friend to pull the trigger. What do you guys think?

I am waiting on other details from dealer but I know that the MSRP is $37683 and cap cost is $34702. I am thinking this is a good deal and mostly will recommend my friend to pull the trigger. What do you guys think?

What lease term and how many miles per year is this quote for?

And, is the cap cost inclusive of any fees not paid at signing?

    36 Month, 12k miles.

As far as I know all fees are included. What other fees you think might not be included in cap cost?

    62% and .00065

With your prices, I get $353/mo before tax; 7% tax takes the payment to $377/mo.

Looks pretty good, if you're comfortable with the selling price.

Seems like an OK deal...it's about 1500, in total, more than mine for a car that's 1500 pricier. I'd say if you can get the car for 377/month with zero drive off you've got yourself a winner.

My payment calc is within $1 of that quote. If you're comfortable with the selling price, I think you're in good shape.
