I just got a quote for a 2017 X5d xdrive. List $71070, cap cost $65070, 36m 15k, $959.87 per month, $1054.87 out of pocket. I assume 0.00140 money factor and 55% residual, is that correct?

I get $868/mo before tax with those numbers.

Confirm the adjusted cap cost and the MF. What state and tax rate is this?

They did not tell me the money factor or residual. The state is NY and the tax rate is 8.625%.
I have emailed him and asked for the details, which I will share once received. Can you confirm my assumptions on the money factor and residual?

I read somewhere that there is a $2000 incentive from the 14th to the end of the month. Is that not the case?

Looking to see if the deal that I'm working is inline, appreciate your help. The deal sheet that they keep showing me doesn't include MF and I'm suspicions that what they are quoting is a bit high.

    Vehicle: 2017 BMW X5 17XG 4dr Wgn
    xDrive35i
    Stock #: H0X03794
    VIN: 5UXKR2C31H0X03794
    Miles: 10

    MSRP $65,270.00
    Discount $3,003.00
    Net Sales Price $62,267.00
    Trade Value $31,000.00
    Payoff $31,631.44
    Sales Tax $2,122.81
    Registration $114.50
    Title $33.00
    Doc Fee $150.00
    State Inspection $23.75
    Road & Bridge Fee $23.00

Down Payment (Total Drive Off) $2500
    Monthly Payment $1,037

My trade is a 2014 X5 that is on the owners choice program with two months remaining. This deal involves trading the car instead of doing a return and BMW is waiving my last two payments. So my actual amount owed at the end of term would be $33,xxx if I completed the contract. BMW financial has adjusted that to $31,631.44 and I do not make the remaining payments.

What state and tax rate is this?

What lease term and how many miles per year are you looking for?

    What does the $2500 cover?

What is the adjusted cap cost the dealer uses to get the $1037 payment?

So sorry for leaving that out.

I'm in Texas with a tax rate of 6.25
Term is 36mos. at 18k per year

The worksheet that they are using doesn't seem to share those other details. I'll send them a note asking for that. I'm thinking that the $2500 is cap reduction but I'd better find out!

Well, Texas assesses sales tax against the entire selling price, which hurts when you lease. The $2500 may cover some, or most, of that tax amount.

But, the more information you have, the better.

And, the extra 9000 miles will cost you, as well - at .25 per mile, that's $2250 off the calculated residual.

I hadn't thought of a good way to figure residual beyond 15k miles which is 55% right? So I could figure 45% depreciation + $2250 to help me when talking with them?

55% is the correct 36/15 residual.

Assume the MSRP is $70K; 55% of that is $38,500. Subtract the $2250 mileage from that to get a net residual of $36,250.

Numbers are generally updated each month.

.00140 is the base MF for March.

36/10 residual is 56%, according to my information. 55% is for 36/12

    Hello,
New to the site, but have been playing some catch up. Could anyone let me know if my offer makes sense?
Florida resident, looking to lease at 36/12. I calculated and got a verbal on my custom built X5 as follows:

    MSRP: $66,645
    Negotiated: $61,313.4
    Total down $8500
    $925 Acq.fee
    Residual (57%)
    MF of .0014
    Tax 6%
Doc and License fees = 480

    Monthly payments of $600

Great deal, good deal, ok deal, bad deal? Thanks in advance, I am new to leasing. Also, any advice would be appreciated.

Don't make a down payment - limit the up front costs to just the first payment and DMV costs. You'll have a higher payment, but you won't risk that money if the car is stolen or totaled before the end of the lease.

I agree with the MF and residual numbers.

8% discount from sticker is good for a BMW.

    8% off MSRP is good.
One of the main reasons for leasing is to pay as you go. No point in putting $8500 upfront.
.00140 MF and 57% is correct.
Using $6500 of the $8500 as CAP reduction (the other $2000 goes to pay the items listed), I get a payment of $534/mo.+tax or $566/mo.
That's about $1000 off the figures you've been given.

    Kyfdx,
Can you show me where those numbers (6500, and 2000) would be calculated in, in order to keep the monthly payments lower? I ideally would not want to put $8500 down, but if there is a way that's BMW to keep monthly payments lower with some type of deposit up front, that would be ideal. I thought my deal initially looked good at $600 but my range would be up to $650/675 max. Thanks for the help everyone!!

If you don't make the $6500 CAP reduction, the payment should be around $720/mo.+tax, or about $775/mo.

Can someone also explain how exactly an MSD works in negotiating? I read that they are a down/upfront payment, but do these act as deposits, where the money is returned at the end of a lease?

MSD - multiple security deposit. Each deposit, which is the monthly payment rounded up to the next highest $50, reduces the MF by .00007. Max 7 MSD allowed, total .00049 reduction.

Yes, the deposit money is returned to you at the end of the lease.

No information on price hikes. Is your dealer telling you this? Could it be a ploy to get you to make a deal before then?

Just so you know, any car already on the lot will not be subject to the price hike, just cars built and delivered after that date.

I believe X5's are built in SC, so a custom order may not take as long as one that comes from Germany.

Another forum mentioned the all model-cost increase next month. Also, does anyone have any luck on a custom build time frame?

6-8 weeks, if your dealer has an allocation. Maybe sooner, because as noted, they are assembled in South Carolina.

    Hello,
I would like to see if the following is a good deal in NY.
    X5 i35 xDrive
MSRP: $67145 (Premium, Cold Weather, Driver Assist, Multi contour seats, 3rd row, metallic paint)
Initial Cap Cost after dealer discount: $61635
    36/15
MF: 0.0012 (say this is the best based on credit)
    RV: 55%
Additional Cap Cost Red (paid by me): $3000

    Monthly Payment: $749.82
    Out of pocket costs:
    $3000 cap cost red
    tax on cap red: $338.53
    sales tax: $2328.21
    Bank Fee: $925
    Doc/plate fee: $95

    Total OOP: $7,436.56

Salesman said BMW is giving an allowance equal to 2 months of my current lease payment to end it early (I have 3 months left). They are reducing my out of pocket by $1112.

Due at signing is then $6324.56

    Thanks

What payment are they quoting you?

Do you qualify for a fleet discount? That knocks .00020 off the base MF, which is what you've been quoted.

Our recommendation is to limit the out of pocket costs to just the first payment and DMV costs - the cap reduction should be skipped, and the taxes and fees should be rolled into the cap cost. You won't get a refund of those charges should the vehicle get stolen or totaled before the end of the lease.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost. You are getting a nice discount from sticker.

The payment is $749.82. Without the $3k down the payment was appx $840ish. I don't recall. I am trying to keep the payment below $800.
