Residual is always a percentage of full MSRP.

When reviewing my spreadsheet to answer your question, I realized I was incorrectly adding the gross cap cost and RV to calculate the interest. After correcting it to reflect the net cap cost ($44,345), I came to a figure of $500.57 before taxes.

Apparently, the sales numbers for March were pretty soft, for all brands. Likely to be more incentives coming.

I was thinking about selling it...as I find the MPG terrible in city traffic, and I didn't get the upgraded sound...the non Sony unit is weak.

Looking around online, I see my car selling for 26-27K...that's for a mint Edge with under 20K miles, still under warranty...or about 40% off msrp.

Not sure why the massive depreciation...but buyers should take advantage...a terrific car for that price.

Just wanted to give a heads up and say thanks for the post.. I purchased a 2016 Titanium with 17K miles. It looks brand new and I got over 30% off MSRP of $40,000. Really like the vehicle.

My previous lease on a Ford Escape in South Florida I paid $146 in upfront taxes in addition to the sales tax on the monthly payment. What is that a tax on? Also paid both Acquisition Fee of $645 and Documentation Fee of $699? Are either of these excessive or negotiable?

Rebates, acquisition fee, doc fee and CAP cost reduction are all taxable, if paid upfront. (by definition, rebates and CAP cost reductions are always paid upfront).

Acquisition fees are normal on every lease. Doc fees are dealer fees, and Florida doc fees are known to be excessive. Rather than ask them to remove a fee that they've probably pre-printed on their documents, just ask about it first, then adjust your offering price to offset that amount.

Could you also help me clarify the following please. Edmunds.com lists the loyalty rebate program for Edge (besides $1,750 cash-back) worth $1,500 valid through 7/05/17. I am returning my current Ford lease in a couple of weeks. I started shopping around, and this is what I got from the dealer:
"To address the program you cited, there is unfortunately no loyalty incentive on the Edges right now..."
Is this true?
