I already had a young guy stop to look at the car as it was being taken off the truck.

Probably could have sold it right then and there.

For a year or 2 recently Audi threw in the 1.8T into the base model FWE A3's to hit the $30,000 MSRP price point. The 2.0T made 40 more HP with more torque and got 1 more MPG w/ AWD to boot, but the 1.8T was $3,000 less (no AWD).

So have you read the manual regarding engine break-in yet?

Hopefully it says to accelerate to the red line several times per trip in the manual.

Bad news. They forgot to put tires on your wheels.

I doubt I could make it a week down here without cracking a wheel. And that is if I drive like granny and try to avoid holes.

Thanks guys - while blue or white were my first choices, I really like this gray and now feel it was the right way to go (I'd probably say that about whatever color I ended up with, since, well, it's what I got).

You joined the darker grey with red interior club! Welcome! It is a good combo; though I agree with you; not my first choice for exterior color (but it does look nice; what do they call your version of grey?)

I like the front/side view much better than the rear. I still am not feeling Honda's rear-ends! The wing, and the multi-sized exhaust seem odd. Maybe it is functional though!

On a high note, I really like the red line that borders the bottom of the car all the way around, including the wheels!

So what is the real-world price for this car?

I'm really struggling to understand something here.

Today I visited the Audi Canada site and configured a 2018 A4 Quattro. The pricing ended up at around $44,700. I was actually surprised as I thought it would be more.

When I went to the payment estimator page, the numbers floored me. Here's a screenshot:

Residual on the lease showed (on another details page) at $27,400. So I'm laying out $740x36 for about $17000 worth of use and depreciation. I don't get it.

I don't think I've ever seen a car with THREE tail pipes before. Are those rear bumper vents just style, or do they do something?
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,279
so about a 61% residual? Seems pretty normal, if not on the good side. Expensive cars depreciate more in $ terms. If you want cheap, buy a Corolla!

Yeah, but it has 12 8 cylinders to share those 3 pipes.

I wonder which one of the 4 cylinders in the Honda has to have a roommate.

From a Car and Driver review:
Each of the three pipes does something. The fat outer two are the primary exhaust routing. The smaller center pipe connects to a resonator tucked just behind the bumper cover. This resonator also attaches to the outer pipes. At relatively low engine speeds, air flows through the outer pipes and the resonator/center pipe, which adds some raspiness to the engine’s note. At high engine speeds, exhaust air flows almost exclusively through the main pipes, bypassing the resonator and reducing, says Honda, any booming noises. This is done without butterfly valves in the exhaust. Exhaust pressure alone effects the change.

Beautiful car, but not especially quick; a 2015 GT with the Performance package is about one second faster 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile. The brakes and steering are also average at best..

As for the three pipe exhaust, I can't say at least from videos that the exhaust note on the Type R is anything I would turn around to look at.

Yes! That dark gray makes all the red highlights really pop.

There are indeed a lot of "odd" styling features on the car - for me, it all just works and is unabashedly bold.

Real-world price? I paid $1,750 over the $34,775 MSRP for the vehicle, though that included about $1,000 of "forced" Honda accessories. So depending on the value attached to those accessories, there was what I considered a very palatable, if not reasonable, mark-up on the car - particularly compared to what I've read of the market.

I asked the dealership about temp tags, and they overnighted them to me, so just have to throw those on and I'll be official. Come to think of it, I don't have any screws here at work to put it on, so I guess I'll be driving home with no tags - that's okay, it's not like the car will attract any attention. :)

Hopefully I get the title work from the dealership soon and I can get plates on it.

Those bumper vents are not vents at all - just plastic cladding. I noticed they even have the little circles for parking sensors, which we don't get in the U.S. at this point.

I think you may be mixing your specs. They are virtually equal in performance (4.3 secs in the gt500 and 4.4 in the gt). Still an impressive feat for the 2015, however, since it gives up 65 ponies to the gt500.

Ya, same here. I assumed an ST when it was approaching from behind, but noticed the RS badge as it passed. I'm not sure I have seen one in the wild before.

I haven't looked at pricing on them at all, particularly compared to a WRX or STi, but I don't know that I would consider another FWD compact/sub-compact at this point. I don't really care if a car has lots of ponies under the hood if they can't stand up on the snow and ice. I suspect that my Fiesta was just as much fun during the winter as any of these little zoom machines.

The Focus RS is supposed to be AWD, similar to the Golf R and WRX/STi.

It is the Honda Type R that decided to go with FWD.
