Nice deal Ti. I would have bit, even though last time I tried, did not fit too well. Now that I am skinnier, it's just the low factor. And getting wife in the seat!
Kids. Our baby just started senior year of college. 1 more tuition payment left, and I am done. And thankfully, she got a good job off her summer internship, so no pressure this year to search!
Wow; a day goes by, and all sorts of activity again!
I have to agree with everyone on the time rolling on. My youngest turns ten in another month. I just turned, oh, well.... let's just stop with that....

I checked listings. That price seems really cheap. 2015s with normal 30-40K miles are listed for that. Seems like quite the deal.
I will go sit in one, and probably realize that it is best I don't get a low slung sports car for my only wheels. Better to get something comfy, and eventually get a toy for occasional use!
got another teaser email from Hyundai dealer today, touting $69/month leases. copying fine print below (hope it works), but 10K year, so as expected. Ballpark math, elantra is really about $155, and and Sonata about $185, treating as nothing down, paying tax, tags, DMV up front.

Hyundai dealers are hugely motivated to get the remaining '17's off the lots, as the 18's are already showing up.
If you wanna go cheap, that's probably the best way to do it, as you already qualify for the loyalty incentive.
But, what's the fun in that? Gotta mix up the brands a little bit, to see what's out there.
You can't date redheads all the time, can you? The occasional blonde or brunette will spice things up.

It seemed good to me, but I couldn't find much to refer to for comparables. Cargurus showed it was about $4200 under market. The dealer originally listed it at $26k, and did small markdowns over the next 3 months. They were asking $21.5k by the time I first drove it last week. I just think I was in the right place at the right time: in inventory over 90 days, near the end of the month, etc.
I figure if I don't like it in a year, it will be easy to get out of.
So Buick had a nice pull ahead program they have been emailing me. Four remaining lease payments waived and $1500 rebate on top of any other incentives. This wipes out my remaining 6 payments, plus leaving $500 for cap cost reduction.
Called the dealer and asked for some prices on pretty much an identical Enclave. Numbers just weren't there, $50 a month more than I'm paying now. Residuals are just too compared to when I leased my 2015.
Wife really wanted another one just like we have, but agreed that $50 a month more wasn't worth it. The manager I was dealing with said that the deal I got back in Nov 2014 was pretty aggressive and he was matching that using the current program. I believe they were all in because they didn't call back (after I declined). He even agreed for the same car he understood why I declined.
@tjc78 - that's the gamble with leasing. You aren't guaranteed the same car at the same payment. Programs change all the time due to inventory levels and residuals, and interest rates.
In 2007, we leased an X3 (3yr/15K/$0 cap cost reduction) for $472 per month. In 2010 when we turned it in, a 2010 X3 would have been over $600 per month because of a legal mess involving leasing companies in certain states. You just never know what's going to happen in 3 years.

@nyccarguy - enjoy it! Those middle school years pass FAST! My oldest just started his freshman year and my youngest is already onto his second year of middle school. Cannot believe it!
For that matter, can't believe my stepdaughter is starting her second year of college! (Though I'm okay with that, since it means we're that much closer to the end of tuition payments!)
Our son starts his first job with UBS Financial Services in Charlotte NC in a couple of weeks. Where does the time go?
Congratulations to your son and you! Charlotte is a great place with ample opportunity. If I can be of help in anyway I'm glad to.

It's due back March 1st. I'm not upset, it was more of an exercise than anything. In all reality it's probably a mixed blessing... I've never bought back to back same cars and why start now!
Well actually I did, but it was a total redesign (03 to 06 Avalon).
No motor, but sort of a "punch". I posted a couple of weeks ago about trading our 2004 25' Airstream travel trailer for a 2018 28' Airstream travel trailer at a new dealer in Burlington. We made a decision to get exactly what we wanted since this will be one and done (I hope). We put a deposit on a 2018 30' with the exact layout and interior color that we wanted. It is about $3000.00 more than the dealer's 28' and just seems like it will work better for us. And, no more 2 foot-itis since 30' is as big as you can get unless you custom order a 33' Classic. It's supposed to be delivered in early October and our shakedown camp will be a 1000 mile tow to South Carolina. We hope to use it about 2 months between October and the Spring of 2018 when our summer business starts up again. We had talked about getting a southern house in the future, but this may end up be our winter "snowbird" dwelling in a couple of years.
@sb55 - Funny you should post that today. I've been thinking about you over the last couple of days Skip. In the last 2 days, I've seen a total of (3) 535d BMWs. I can literally go months without seeing them as you know they are somewhat of a rare bird.

Way to go @roadburner! Best of luck to your son. Charlotte is a fantastic city. I have family there & have visited many times. There's a great mix of young, single people & families with young children there. Affordable housing too. I'm sure he'll do well!

Bradd, funny you should mention my 535d, since it has been in the shop for 2.5 weeks. It ran fine, but threw a CEL. Apparently the high pressure fuel pump "let go" and metal shards contaminated the fuel system. So, BMW is replacing the whole fuel system including the fuel tank! How shards went backwards through a fuel filter is a mystery to me. It's under warranty, so if BMW says replacement, who am I to argue. Anyway, we have had a fairly basic X1 as a service loaner. My wife is not a fan, and lets me know almost daily:)

Wiki says the F86 is built exclusively by Subaru. Is that right?
Yeah it is true. When you open the hood, all of the inner panels are stamped Subaru. All the under hood decals are labeled Fuji Heavy Industries. If the boxer four didn't give it away first.
Rut roh... a buddy of mine that owns a tire shop/garage called yesterday to let me know about a 1966 Chrysler Newport one of his customers is looking to sell. 42,000 original miles on it. It was my first car, so it's a little tempting. I'll try to get some pics of it.
I ALMOST have the wife convinced that it would be a kick to have

Those are good sturdy cars, and are still inexpensive. Go for it!
I am of the belief that the '65/'66 big Chryslers were that company's high-water mark in terms of engineering and quality (not that Chrysler was ever really known for the latter). They are built like tanks and good-looking inside and out. If I had the space to keep one I'd likely own one.
Yesterday I had pretty much convinced myself to jump into a new lease with the Caddy dealer I am wary of after they produced another car that appealed to me. I woke up this morning and did a 180 degree turn and am now thinking I will buy the one I have had for the last 3 years. I'm getting as bad as @stickguy .

Not that you need our encouragement, but I vote "buy it"!
My grandpa bought a Newport new in 65. My uncle still mentions about how good of a car it was - red, with a 383. He ended up falling for the fuselage design, and traded it on a green Newport HT, which he had for several years, but wasn't as good. I've posted some pics of it in the past, but can't locate them here.
