There is a $1000 APR bonus if you finance with AFS.
Also, $1000 loyalty or conquest, if you qualify.

i’ve been checking this thread monthly all year hoping for #s to improve so I can pounce. thanks so much for your ongoing help.

now for the annoying newb questions. I keep using leasehackr website to attempt to calculate what my payment would be but I think I do it all wrong.

Also, for the loyalty, if I am leasing the car under my name for my girlfriend to be the primary driver and she currently drives an A5 registered to her, will that qualify for loyalty or does the loyalty car have to be registered to me?

I'm looking to get an S3. I'm super flexible regarding mileage allotment (can go as low as 7,500) and term (up to 42 mos.). Whatever puts me in the "sweet spot."

My local dealer offered me this deal, and it seems high to me:

Sale Price: $49,730.70

Customer Cash: $2,500

Total Rebates: $2,000

Base Monthly Payment: $653.65

Monthly Payment w/ Tax: $699.41

Was hoping to be in the $650-$675/mo (with tax; Indiana) on a Premium Plus with no more than $1k down, max. Is that not doable?

Is this a decent offer or on the high side? Thanks in advance.

*Note: Currently driving a C63 AMG, so eligible for Conquest/Acquisition cash.

Without even knowing the MF they used, that is a terrible, terrible deal. You could own the car for about $50 - $75 more a month, depending on what interest rate you can get a loan. Frankly, with the S3's RV being as low as it is right now, it's really tough to get a decent lease on this car at the moment.

Finance for three years, and then sell the car. You'll come out WAY ahead.

Is this the best I can expect for the above-spec ‘18 S3 right now?

I only drive 7,500 miles a year so financing is out of the equation for me. Don’t want to take a big depreciation hit for such little use.

Whoa, whoa. The counter almost seems worse than the original offer.

First, why a 51 month lease? I've never heard of such a thing. That will extend beyond the manufacturer's warranty, which is crazy. Most likely, the dealership offered you that term because they said the payments would be less - and while that may be true, I guarantee they are making more money on the financing aspect at a higher rate than they would for a 36 month lease.

At $697/month, and $1,000 down, it will cost you a total of $36,457 to drive a car THAT YOU DON'T OWN and is otherwise selling for $45,230. Talk about paying for depreciation!!

Second, you said you don't want to finance because you are only going to drive 7,500 miles a year. That really shouldn't matter to you one bit - regardless of how much you drive, you're going to take a bath on the lease. I just bought an S3 with an MRSP of $50,835. I got 12% off the car before incentives, which were another $3750 off. Final cost: $40,984. After my down payment, my payments are well below $600 a month. There are 2015 S3's right now selling for $28,000 to upwards of $30,000 right now. The car has excellent resale value. Don't confuse the real world depreciation of the car with the RV set by the manufacturer. The two have nothing in common.

Finally, when you lease any car, you should NOT put money down. If the car is stolen or totaled, you will lose that money. GAP insurance will not cover it.

The bottom line is that S3 doesn't lease well right now, but even so, this dealer is taking you for ride. Call up some other dealers - the one you are dealing with now is offering you a horrible, horrible deal.

You don't say what term/mileage they quoted, but your payment isn't far off.

Frankly, the S3 has a terrible lease program, as @daniellarusso noted.

Plus, new programs come out tomorrow. I don't expect them to be any better (but, they might). They couldn't hardly be any worse.

I'd look at a different vehicle before putting over $700/mo. into a $53K S3.

Thanks, @kyfdx. So is the residual lower on performance models like this so the manufacturer can make more money, or because they truly won't hold their value as well? I'd be surprised to hear that a 48k A4 premium plus holds its value better than a 48k S3 premium plus.
