They've got three '04 Foresters listed in their inventory, but no turbos yet. Should be any time now...

Of the 2 dealers near me, only 1 has some XT's, 3 of them too. 2 AT, 1 MT. Both have over 25 '03's left though.

My husband finally bought me a new Forester yesterday. It is a 2.5x 2003 model. The price was the full M.S.R.P. with no discounts even though the 2004s are coming. The only "deal" he got was 3.8% financing for 60 months. I feel the price should have been better for the old model when the new ones are coming next month, but I have never been able to get a good deal on a new Subaru. How come the US owners get good deals (below M.S.R.P. and even below invoice), and we can't?

Maybe I'll move to Canada! I'm getting invoice minus rebate on leftover Foresters, and 2.9% financing on 60 months.

TWO (yes 2) Montreal area dealerships have closed during the last two months due to poor sales. However, I am a die hard Subaru fan and couldn't accept anything less than a new Subaru, even if now the closest dealer is a hassle to get to. So why do you want to move to Canada? To buy Subies down there and sell them to us up here? Good idea! However, with the exchange rate....would it be such a good idea? My husband paid C$28,845 which is roughly US$21,210, so how does that compare?

It varies by region, but in DC they are cheaper than that. You can get a 5 speed for $19k, an auto for about $20k, both before taxes.

It's about the same here. $21,395 US is MSRP.

Just curious, but do US Subaru dealers usually offer a discount if you have no trade-in? We got a discount on our new fifthwheel travel trailer of almost $1000, and a discount when we bought our new truck, but Subaru here jsut doesn't do it.

No difference. As far as I'm concerned they're almost separate transactions. Luckily here in Connecticut the consumer does get a tax break.

I saw posted somewhere that in the USA the 2003 Forester financing package is 2.9% (here in Canada it is 3.8%). Does it end on June 30th? Our new Forester is in and will be ready to pick up Monday June 30th, last day of the special fiancing of 3.8% in Canada (we were told by the dealer).

Hopefully they'll renew it for July.

Does the VIP pricing apply to the new XT (Leave No Trace)? If not, is it your best guess that it might by next spring?
    Cheers

I'd honor it on anything other than the STi. Better to keep the friendlies happy. Now, my GM might disagree with that, but I'm hearing of decent discounts already, so why not?

Remember it also ended on 31 may 03!

Fitzgerald (www.fitzmall.com) in Maryland has a blue STi for $200 UNDER invoice. Only fee is $49 for dealer processing of tags. An STi for just over $29,000 plus tax and tags. Yikes!

Saw that too, in fact I think it's a mistake. Probably some clerk entered all the WRXs at $200 under, and mistakenly included this one without realizing what it is.

Quick, someone run and buy it before they realize their mistake.

We just received work that Ernie Boch has passed away. He was chariman of Subaru of New England, and led his region to tremendous success since its inception.
