Only thing left is the yellow taxi at background right, should be easy.

    Back to the 80s:

77ish Camaro far right. One ha colorvlives near me. And a early Honda wagon. Think it’s a civic.

All I can tell is that it is in Ontario, given the Beer Store sign. If this was a movie clip you could probably actually see that early Civic rusting away.

Yep to both a movie clip, and being in Ontario. The parked van is a hint to the movie, right on the Camaro and Civic of course (wagons seem somewhat rare compared to the 3 door).

I used to think the "Beer Store" sign was something funny made for the movie, the ALE and LAGER part amuses me somehow.

    strange brew?
another 80s movie where the vehicle must be sunk into a lake.

With the rectangular headlights I’m thinking more like a ‘77.

I think you are right... the bumpers make it look older, but that sure looks a lot like the '77 T-Bird, which makes me think it's the same year.

It's a 1979 Cougar XR7 and a great illustration of how car stylists were just "phoning it in" during the late 70s. Here by contrast is what the original Cougar looked like in the late 60s

...or the early 50's Chrysler slightly behind it?

I think that Isetta is the larger stretch version that came out.

2 early falcons on the right. And I think something foreign behind the 2nd one. Reminds me of a Volvo P1800

Funny thing about those little bubble cars. When I was very young, 3 or 4 years old (1960-ish), I remember seeing a few of them buzzing around here. I was fascinated by them, and my parents got me a tin toy version of one for Christmas or my birthday around that time. I remember it was a green color. Don't know whatever happened to it.

I think it's too small to be a Volvo, looks more like a Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia.

LWB Isetta was the "600", I think. Newest cars I spot are 1962 (Chevy wagon and full size Ford), oldest the Chrysler, and another Briggs (?) bodied Mopar in the far left lane.

Couple of Chevy II/Nova wagons and maybe a 63 Rambler.

Ramblers back left and front right.

and a Karman Ghia with no front bumper.

The two Chevy II 100's are 1965?

What is the car 4th in line? Part of taillight showing?

Does anyone notice the car behind the Karmann Ghia? Valiant?

I guess that is a dark Rambler American next to the Karman Ghia. Hadn't really noticed it. I always thought the newly designed 63 big Rambler was a pretty clean looker for a sedan.

The car behind the Karmen Ghia night be a closely related to Valiant; Dodge Lancer by the round taillight. There is also a 60 Chevy wagon ahead of the Chevy II or Nova wagon.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,735
A Dodge Lancer. The Valiant has a rectangular taillight mounted at an angle on the fin.

Looks like a '62 Valiant. Both have round taillights, the Valiant's are lower

Nice cold war-era Berlin parking lot from "The Quiller Memorandum", as suggested by explorerx4:

I see two Porche 356s, probably 356As. A red cabriolet someone is getting in or out of in
top row right and a grey coupe in lower row parked between a Mercedes Cabrio and a sedan. It looks like it's a "notchback" coupe

Yep a couple of P cars. MB at left is noteworthy as it is a W108, would have been a new car at the time of filming.

And the car next to the apparent Lloyd looks like a ~60 (German) Ford Taunus.

A few to identify in a shot from an all time classic that is now a great piece of period car spotting, this is London, 1984:

Why are cars parked the 'wrong' way? Likewise, why is that yellow car on the 'wrong' side of the road?
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,900
Brown car is what we got as the Capri II around 1977.

Weird London parking, I guess. Right on the Capri II.

To paraphrase the movie: "You're on the wrong side of the road!" "I know, I'm also on the wrong side of the car!".

No idea what movie it's from but parked on the left is a black Renault 5, a Ciroen 2CV, a red BMW E21 (316/319/320/323 etc) and a Rover SD. The yellow car is an Austin Maxi.

Gang, I don't have a mystery car pic, but I do have a mystery car I need your help with.

Yesterday I was driving in traffic and a smallish (Miata-sized, maybe a bit larger) roadster passed me. It was a non-metallic coral or pale orange shade, looked fairly recent. Not sure if it had hidden headlights or not as the only clear view I had was of its rear. It had twin taillights on each side, each side with 2 vertical rectangles set into the rear panel, each maybe slightly bigger than a playing card or a cigarette pack. I know I have seen that design somewhere before but I can't recall where or on what. Any ideas?

first i thought if recent could be a fiat spider. but does not sound right. Other thoughts are an Alfa, or something older. Lotus (the FWD version), a Capri maybe?

If the car you saw was really a recent model smallish roadster there is only a small number of possibilties: Fiat 124 Spider, Honda S2000, Porsche Boxster, Lotus Elise, or BMW Z3/Z4 unless it was a non-US model that someone managed to bring into this country. None of those I listed have tailights w vertical segments.

  • ab348ab348 Member Posts: 20,520
Not the Fiat, Honda, Boxster, Lotus, BMW, or Capri. I wonder if it might be a Euro-market Alfa of some sort? Haven't been able to find a pic of those taillights though.
