    Bob,

I plan to be at the convention center on feb. 6 as soon as it opens. Kinda hope that the sub reps will have some info (pics ?!?) about the new forester.

    Michael (in Ellicott City too)

Welcome aboard! Is this this the first time you've posted? I don't think I've seen you here before.

And... not only another Marylander, but from my neighborhood too!

Last year we a group of "Crew" members from the Balt/Wash region get together, and go to the Baltimore show. Hopefully we can do it again this year too.

Have we decided on a date to go to the NY Auto-show? I'm definitely up for that. Even have a nice Family Style Italian place picked out for us to go for dinner afterward!

Patti could arrange a private viewing? [pushing my luck here] ;-)

I guess weekdays after 5:30pm would be good, unless I take a day-off. Otherwise, the weekend is pretty much good.

So, who else wanna meet @ the NY Auto Show?

I'm going to Florida on the 7th, and just took a bunch of time off for that, so Baltimore doesn't look good for me this year. The 6th is the Forester debut, so I'd rather be on-line looking for details.

I'll be in Orlando. We're going my best man's sister's wedding, so lots of events are tied in with that. I doubt we'll have time, though we snuck over to Cocoa Beach last time in our convertible Sebring, which was fun.

Are there any big debuts in NY for Subaru? I need a big reason to go (ex: WRX at the Philly Show we caravaned up to).

They may have the Legacy 6 and the Forester in NY!

That should be reason enough. I'm thinking a saturday for the NY Auto-show.

Thanks for the greeting...I'm fairly new to the townhall. I've posted some questions in the the other subaru chats recently (mainly about installing a bug deflector).

I would love to meet some crew members and hang out at the auto show. Let me know, my afternoons are usually free.

Maybe we can go into the the Baltimore show together, since we're both in Ellicott City?

Hutch, Loosh, and Mike Smith, are you guys up for the Baltimore Auto Show again? Anybody else? Sounds like juice can't make it. :(

If there's going to be a Legacy 6 and a new Forester, that will probably be enough for me to try to make it to the New York show. March 29 through April 7, according to the website -- which incidentally does not mention anything about new Subie models :-/

It's almost worth the trip from Texas, just to go to the Family Style Italian place. Love Italian food. Originally from PA.

I'd love, too, really, but the calendar timimg couldn't be worse. I'm literally booked the entire 4 days. I'll keep you and the other posted in case I get free.

I bought the 3-day SuperPass so I can pick and choose what events to attend. Sorry for the lack of advance notice so we could organize a group buy to sit together, but a friend called last night and I took the plunge.

You can buy tickets at www.ticketmaster.com .

I can't believe something like this is going to be in DC. I hope it does well.

Michael, Bob: The Baltimore show isn't in the cards for me.

mike, If something's going to debut at the NY show, I'll lobby SWMBO. No promises.

Jim, hehe, spoken like a true Crew member! Any excuse for a nice drive the Subaru.

I definitely want to go, but I just found out I'll be upstate the first weekend for Easter Sunday. Maybe the following weekend? Otherwise after work is good for me.

    Mark
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Doesn't look good for me, so I'd be voting for the following weekend myself. If nothing else works out maybe you, me and dave can meet up after work one day and hit it.

Weekend after Easter might be good for me, depending which day you go. I'll most likely be back from SC on Saturday, and might go if I have it in me to fight the crowds that day.

Saw it today in the Audi showroom on Park Avenue across from where I work, and another vehicle too which I couldn't make out what it is. See if I can drop in during lunch tomorrow.

    -Dave
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
Can get in. Doors locked for some private viewing. Everyone in there were all suited up.

    Anyway, what's there-
    Audi Avantissimo [concept wagon]
    VW Magellan [concept SUV]
    Bently
    and
    Looks like a Lotus

Anyone just so happen to be in the area, drop by for a viewing.

    -Dave
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Not a bad place to be! Though the Avantissimo is way overdone (just a concept), and the Magellan concept was ugly.

If you see R2D2 stuck on the back of that Magellan, please tell him I said "hi"! ;-)

    -juice
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
No, didn't see it. From my vantage point, locked outside looking in :-( I do agree that the Megallan concept isn't appealing to look at. The front kind of resembles the face of a grasshopper.
The Avantissimo wasn't any better. It caught my eye because it was ugly, not stunning. Looks like alot of car but little room inside. Long too.

It's probably a showing for the World Economic Forum that's in town.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I think the Avantissimo was to showcase how far Audi could go with interiors. We'd have to see it close up.

Yeah a good target for the tree hugging rich kids who are professional protesters! I'm glad the NYPD has it's marching orders for zero tolerance!

    -mike
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    Serge- I guess it is.
I think the protesters a sugar-coated. They all melted in the rain :-D
BTW, WEF is going on three blocks from where I work.

I used to live in Manhattan and now live 10 miles away.. Would love to meet up w/ folks going to the NY Auto Show. I can tell folks where are the best spots for a (free) parking spot. How to untangle the mysteries of parking signs. Perhaps even help plan a dinner or lunch thing. Though April is still far away...
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
blink blink... it'll be here sooner than you think :-)
The NY Auto show is less than 60 days away.

I read in the paper yesterday that Rolls Royce and Isuzu will NOT have displays at the Baltimore Auto Show?! I can understand RR, as there is only one dealer in the state of Maryland near Washington, but Isuzu?

    Bob
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
is just another arm of GM now. Once the Rodeo is converted over to the small GM SUV, and the Trooper becomes the Assender aka Trailblazer EXT, there won't be anymore Isuzu at least as we know it. There is talk of the Amigo/Rodeo sport being a SWB Avalanche in the near future.

A Light off-road event in Southern New Jersey! Come enjoy the trails!

    -mike

  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
What type of ride is this going to be?

The last ride I went to when everyone met at the Red Lion, was the time the time that the Trooper got stuck (mostly slow narrow trails with a couple of quicker dirt roads).
Or will it be more like the Wharton State Forest ride (wider, less hilly and a little faster trails. juice and Ed were there and the XT6 got hydrolocked)?

I might be taking a co-driver or two (i.e. wife and maybe kids).

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
We may wind up splitting the group up since we already have 20 registered vehicles. We will likely hit the infamous sand-pit, and then head toward wharton later in the afternoon. We are going to play it by ear for now and see how the group shapes up.

I've been pretty quiet on Town Hall of late - work and personal life have been very busy. Hopefully I will be free to lead another backroad drive through eastern PA and NJ sometime in mid-March. I'm mapping it out now to include the covered bridges we went through last fall, plus the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and the Nazareth Speedway. I may need a navvie to do a pre-run with me in order to measure distances for pace notes.

This will be almost exclusively a tarmac and gravel event so choose your tires and tire pressures accordingly.

    and

The second is a list of auto-xs in the NY/NJ area that I'll likely be at. Happy auto-xing.

Now you need a big Team IAC logo on the side. :-)

    -Dennis
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
We're working on the logo, and a trailer for the Red XT6. I looked at a few over the weekend, pretty reasonably priced. A 2001 used 16' auto-transport with 2 axle electric brakes was going for $1100. A new one for around $1500.

    Mike and Ed,

Count me in if it is any of the first 3 weekends in March. I'll try and get a couple of my co-workers to come along as well. (One just picked up a Legacy sedan)

    Mark
  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Ed, I probably couldn't do a pre-run but should be able to make the regular run depending on the date. I'm busy Mar. 2 (RalliSpec) and 9th. I think Sundays are open.

    -Dennis
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Dennis: I'm going to RalliSpec on March 2 too.

March 10, 16, 17 (St. Pat's run - green Subies get preferential treatment!) look like the best dates.
