I don't understand all this hoopla about holding grocery bags in place in the trunk but then I don't do a lot of the shopping either. The only time I do grocery shopping is when I lose the coin flip with Mrs. j. As long as you find all of the peaches that are rolling around back there, what's the problem? :o jmonroe

I actually have to agree with JMonroe about this. Ab, you're only shopping for one person. Who needs bag hangers, just throw the bags in and they keep each other in place. Once you start buying containers and crates for your trunk it will become a catch all for all kinds of junk you won't know you have there even if you did need it.

This guy was showing me his Civic he paid $1000 for. Most of the paint was peeling and he is thinking of painting it...it is black now. I told him the peeled paint looks better, it is flat black. He has no wheel discs so it looks real mean. It has 200000 miles on it and he wants to get another 100000 on it. Looks like a mean machine in black, low to the ground, black wheels....but, when I looked inside it it was filled with garbage, tennis rackets, blankets, bags, brake discs, oil cans, funnels,.......
If you have containers in the trunk your trunk will become like a garbage collecting garage.

The collapsible boxes would work, though they are small enough that you's probably need a pair of them, and then it starts to get expensive. There are metal loops affixed securely in the trunk already, so I'm going to try the bungee cord method to hold the bags first.

Not necessarily. The only things in my trunk are a couple of produce boxes and about 8 reuseable grocery bags. It’s a matter of discipline to keep your trunk clean and organized.

The emptier the better. I do have some bags, for going to Costco. Wish they would supply them, I'd pay 5 cents a bag if they sold them like some stores do.........don't like having to take bags into the store, then into the kitchen, then put them back in the trunk :'(

Don't like the concept of bringing outside bags into a store. Good way to get roaches and the like since not everyone keeps their place clean and tidy.

Some of the latest car colors seem to have a flat look to them. I've particularly seen it on a sort of taupe color.

anyone have experience painting tile? My daughter and her BF (well, he is, she is helping) are buying a house that has original 1958 tile in the bathroom. In great shape. Just very blue and peach. For some reason, they are not fans. But being poor, after buying the place, not in position to just gut the room and redo it from scratch. So, looking to paint the tile white instead.

I saw it on one of the HGTV shows, and they sell the paint kit at Lowes (not cheap though). I am skeptical though as to how well it will come out. I guess you are only risking the cost of the paint and a weekend of time.

anyone know how much a bathfitter costs? I would do that instead, but I am much more interested in writing a check to save myself a lot of labor!

Many YouTube videos on how to do it but here’s one that may be a cautionary tale.

When I got my car in November, 2017, I specifically told the manager that I wanted a car with the collapsible cargo box.  When I open the trunk, I pull back on the frame which is located at the upper lip of the trunk.  Once it locks in place, I push down on the fabric or rubber and fabric liner and it goes to the trunk floor.  I put my fruits, cans and jars that tend to roll around into the “box” and then I push the frame back into place inside the rear of the trunk.  It’s saved many jars from breaking and takes up almost no trunk space when not in use.

Once I have unloaded the trunk, I merely press on a button on the right back part of the frame and the box collapses “up” into its frame.  I then push the frame forward until it locks back into the rear of the trunk.

It is a must-have option for me.  I think the cost was $395 as an option on the sticker.  The dealer can also install one in any of its MB models, but the cost is much more.

sent that video to the kid. She is having second thoughts. Current plan of attack is keep it within the limited budget, keep the blue, but work around it. New white vanity and mirror, wall paint, and the right shower curtain and you will hardly notice the blue tub and tile. eventually it will get redone entirely, and that will tide them over.

My prior car had that, the "comfort box". Very handy, as it could hold the detailing stuff I always tote around, along with a few bags of groceries. It irked me when hauling luggage though, as even when retracted, it was in the way.

That’s more of a satin than flat but still UGH! Satin is the latest fad. I guess car makers are trying all sorts of crazy stuff to appeal to younger buyers.

I’m not feeling that flat paint. Besides it looks like a wrap, and if scratched or dented you’re hosed.

Saw my first Maybach yesterday. A shiny black S600. You could tell it had MB underpinnings. I can't imagine what it would look like in that dull finish. You’d have to be very brave to try a paint job like that on a $200k car.

Well there's a difference between "flat" and "matte" finish, which is what the Benz has. We saw a couple of those at the MB display at the PGA championship a few years ago. Both the silver/gray and the white were pretty sharp looking

First, I’m not a fan of “flat” paint. It looks like it’s in primer, particularly the grey colors.

I view the flat paint style to be along the lines of the “chrome” car paints that were popular a few years ago. Sort of the “paint du jour”. It lasts for a short period of time, then frizzles out pretty quickly, but you’re stuck with it nonetheless.

OK Edmund's is really acting up. Pulled up the tab that I keep Edmund's on, clicked on my bookmarks to see what had new posts and came in here to read new posts. That ment I was still logged into the system. Well I responded to a post (see above) and when I hit the "post" button I was told I didn't have permission to do that. Somewhere along the line Edmunds logged me out. But the strange thing is after I logged back in my response was still there as a draft in its entirety. Strange indeed

Getting logged out now and then seems to happen. I just had it the other day, but only on my laptop. The ipad, phone, and desktop all were still logged in, so it's not being logged out by Edmunds. Not sure what causes it. Almost feels like it's an online security thing, but that's just a feeling.

I'm not exactly sure what the timeframe is on a draft being created, but it seems fairly short. I've started typing a reply and then changed my mind and deleted the text, and have come back a day or two later to the same discussion and there's the text waiting for me to post it, especially if it's more than a few lines.

When you do have drafts saved, a count of them will show up on the right side navigation box

It's one of the discussions pinned to the top of the Recent Discussions list. Just makes it easier to have those kind of things in a discussion purposed for that.

The issue with satin finishes is that they are difficult to care for. As an example, rubbing hard on a satin finish can create a shiny spot on the surface. Aesthetics aside, I think that a satin finish is not worth the additional hassles of upkeep.

My guess is that there's an automatic re-logon timer linked to the IP address of the device in question. I have to do it on a somewhat regular basis, but it's become trivial, given that the stored username and password has been working flawlessly for the past 2-3 cycles (knock on wood).

There are some weird ideas floating around these days about cars and paint. I see a few off road vehicles (Jeeps and such) that are covered with bed liner material (LineX or equivalent). And I have seen Chargers and Challengers in flat black. And I do mean flat, looking like a primer. And I have no idea why Mopars, but I don't like it, I can tell you that.

All this talk about primer and flat paints reminds me of the Judge Judy rerun that aired last night about a guy who had paid a jobber to paint his car. Judge Judy looked at the picture of the classic GTO which was stripped of everything on it and just gray primer and said it was "a wreck." Therefore not worth anything.

    Clueless.

anyone have experience painting tile?

Ah YouTube the great learning tool. Just by watching YouTube I learned the the world is flat, we never went to the moon, I don't need a license to drive, that there is a secret bank account the government set up in my name that i can accesses if i pay someone $40.00 to tell me how among othervthings.

Next you’ll be claiming that the Scotty Kilmer trick to clean your catalytic converters with lacquer thinner is bogus. :o

Nope, I wouldn't say that, I might say that Scotty Kilmer himself is bogus and is just a large muffet being controlled by the ghost of Jim Hensen. But not that cleaning catalytic converters with lacquer thinner is bogus (although I would think it).

Maybe the Judge Judy GTO model wasn't listed in the Blue Book?

Maybe for a bank account or credit card site... but for good 'ol Edmunds? If someone wants to login in as yours truly and babble on so be it.

Heck it could be better more sensible posts than the real TJC writes. B)

Heh... you don't want to know how many PWs I have that change every 90 days. I get it, cyber security, but man, if you want to find me, you can look me up in the phone book!

Work is like that... it's so annoying! Now we have things that have three criteria (User/PW/Group).

The collapsible boxes would work, though they are small enough that you's probably need a pair of them, and then it starts to get expensive. There are metal loops affixed securely in the trunk already, so I'm going to try the bungee cord method to hold the bags first.

When I got my car in November, 2017, I specifically told the manager that I wanted a car with the collapsible cargo box.  When I open the trunk, I pull back on the frame which is located at the upper lip of the trunk.
    Do you mean like this;

Yep!  See the silvery button on the right side of the frame - press that and the bottom collapses automatically into the top frame.  I use it frequently.

Good for carrying all that Scotch!

    .

OTOH... I have learned how to fix a Keurig Coffee Maker, a dishwasher, the black screen of death on my PC, the flapper and the tower thing in a toilet, fixed a TV remote control that stopped working, put an ink refill in the HP copier and many other things.

Oh yea... since we just revamped some old discussions... if you DO run into technical issues or have and feedback or suggestions about the forums, the place to post them is in the Forums Feedback and Suggestions discussion. It's one of the discussions pinned to the top of the Recent Discussions list. Just makes it easier to have those kind of things in a discussion purposed for that.

Always interested in what our users have to say. Really appreciate all the "extra eyes" keeping a lookout for disturbances in the force ;)

    I just did one:
I find that after I comment by doing a "quote" I have to go back in and "Hilight" it after or it doesn't have a gray background.

Just called Delta faucets to get new seals for my shower cartridge that controls the water temp. I asked about the procedure and if there were a video. I recalled I had to soak a brass cap threads with vinegar to get it to come loose.

It's been a lot of years since I changed this. She suggested the internet search. They have them on their site, but the videos are also on various internet sites.

Anyone need to do a little plumbing? Internet videos.

True...found way more Challengers and Chargers in flat black or gray.
    It is true, the matte gray or black looks better than totally flat gray or black;
    This one is matte,
