So, got a call yesterday from the Cleveland Clinic (Cole Eye Institute). I had contacted them based on a recommendation from one of my golf buddies who went to school with one of the Drs there.

Anyway, they reviewed my records and accepted me as I may be a candidate for their Retina Team to restore some (all?) of my sight. Will be after the first of the year, but kind of excited.

Now that I re-read this post, probably the wrong place to post. But, keep it car related, if they’re successful, I promise to make a punch.

I pray they are successful in restoring your sight to 100%!

    wife?

    Happy/Merry to all!
Paid $3.46 PUG Costco today, filled up for our now cancelled trip to Mohegan Sun Casino. Beach Boys cancelled the NYE concert, luckily my tix were free. And, Orbitz refunded my non-refundable hotel room; Merry Xmas to me!

Wife and I have continued to dodge Covid; 16 yo niece tested positive the day after we left their home in NJ. Wife's mom and niece showed same symptom's at the same time, but paranoid Mom refuses to test beyond the home test she (improperly, most likely. And intentionally...) took which showed negative. She'd rather not know, what you don't know can't hurt you...

Today, my son let me know that he and his GF tested positive, both have cold-like symptoms and feel OK otherwise. Of course, we spent XMas day with them. Perhaps they got it from MIL... Son's GF thinks it may have come from her boss. But, we seem to be OK, we had PCR test Xmas eve and took home test today, both negative. We're both boosted and masking indoors.

So, improved health to those on the mend, continued good health to those who maintain it; happiness and sanity to all!

Not legally, but for all intents and purposes. She is basically wonderful. Especially to put up with me.

Good luck, GG. My father had some miracle eye surgeries, regarding detached retinas, restoring vision as well as other adult-life eye issues. NYC and Boca Drs/Hospitals. But Cleveland Clinic is world class (my daughter is a CWRU grad, she spent time in their labs I do believe as a Biochemical Engineering grad).

I switched my garage lights (6 bulbs not counting opener) to bright LED - now I see every little paint flaw on both cars. Great job.
    stickguy said:

did one of those improvements today that had unintended consequences. I got a pair of LED panel fixtures (they look like a mini communications satellite with 4 adjustable light wings) to replace the 2 very dim, low watt bulb. Just screw right into the light socket in the ceiling.

now, the garage is lit up like an operating room during a surgery. Incredible how much like these 2 little guys put out (for a total cost of about $22).

the problem? I can see every piece of dirt and imperfection out there. Starting to think being dark had advantages. Now I want to paint it all, replace the garage doors, and epoxy the floor. Though somehow, I think I will stop with sweeping it out good. But it does look dingy when it is empty (maybe the solution is not to turn on the lights unless it is full of cars).

We just got the appraisal on our to be built house and it came in just over, so we are good there.
One surprise this week was that the construction manager asked us to flip the left/right floor plan layout due to an underground pipe.
If the pipe ever needs repair, the driveway won't need to be dug up to get to it.

Laurasdada, my daughter starts work at the Boca Community Hospital on Monday as one of their pharmacists. She has been at Baptist Hospital in Kendall these past 5 years but was looking to transfer either to Orlando or closer to us in the Pompano Beach/Boca Raton area. Turns out Baptist bought the Boca Hospital and through some odd luck, they called her back in November and she got a transfer. She'll be bunking here till months end when her apartment in Boca will be ready for her to move in. Boca is like 5 minutes from us so it'll be nice to have her so close, Kendall was a good hour with heavy traffic in Miami/Dade county.
From what we've heard, Boca Hospital is an excellent facility!

I bet ours are not on more than 5 minutes per day on average. so maybe they would get 50 hours in 2 years? 100?

all I know is, I don't think I changed either bulb in the 23 years we have lived here. And based on how dirty they were it's probably true.

I looked at that light on Amazon when I first moved in. Problem is, I don’t have a ladder tall enough to reach the light fixture… so that cheap purchase would end up being a few hundred including the ladder.

I certainly need to bite the bullet and buy a good ladder one of these days.

In general, I’m keeping expectations low. They may take a look and issue me a red tipped cane and send me on my way.

@laurasdada …..funny about you and the GF. My GF said last night in her mind we are married (we’re not). She asked about our relationship in my mind. Not falling into that trap. I told her I love her like no other. That seemed to suffice……for now.

just ignore all the "don't stand on or above this step" stickers. That is just for the weenies that care about personal safety. Just have your wife standing underneath just in case (in my house, that means just in case somebody has to call 911. No chance she is trying to catch me).

I'll have to shoot an email to GG to get good replies :) GG is The Guy for smart answers.
That’s the only time I’ve heard I have smart answers…..smart donkey or posterior answers…for sure. But, never just smart answers!

If, "I told her I love her like no other" worked like a charm then you have smart answers....I can't think that fast. It's actually brilliant, it doesn't answer the question and yet it causes so much confusion the topic is closed. It's like when some homeless guy tries to sell me one of those useless newspapers they peddle on the street, and I cheerfully say "No thanks, I don't read". It takes them a while to process that and by then I am long gone.

I have the same issue in my garage - the ceiling is too tall for the ladder I have.

Or your ladder is too short for the ceiling that you have :)

Kinda like I weigh too much given my height…

Reminds me of the guy that complains that he’s gotta stop buying pants with cheap waist bands that can’t keep up with his growing waist. :s

just ignore all the "don't stand on or above this step" stickers. That is just for the weenies that care about personal safety. Just have your wife standing underneath just in case (in my house, that means just in case somebody has to call 911. No chance she is trying to catch me).

That’s why I send Mrs. j up the ladder. I’d have no problem catching her.

Speaking of waists, I’ve lost 32 pounds since November 10th and my goal is to lose 25 pounds more over the next 2 months. That would get me to where I was 15 years ago. Hardest part of losing weight is keeping it off. This was all planned with my doctors in order to take the stress off my lumbar vertebrae.🤓

Don’t let it go to your head. He’s still under the influence of the New Years Eve party he went to last night. B)

Yeh, the New Years Party. Left over ribs from Whiskey Joes, watch Money Heist on Netflix, take Trixie out at 9, I can hear firecrackers off in the distance, in bed by 10, read my book and watch the 10 p.m. news, asleep by 11. I don't think that had any influence in thinking GG is a wise man.

That reminds me of when we came out of the tuxedo rental place in the Burgh when my dearly departed middle Brother was getting married. This guy comes running up to my Father and said, “hey buddy do you have a quarter so I can get a cup of coffee”? My Dad replied, “I guess you didn’t get the word”. The guy gets this confused look on his face and said, “I don’t know what you mean” so my Dad said, “tonight’s the night I work this side of the street, you’re supposed be on the other side of the street”. We just walked away leaving the thirsty guy even more confused.

You need more help than I thought you did.
