I had 2 string cheese, 1 cheese doodle thingy's (not good), a granola bar of some sort, 1 Rice Krispy treat, 2 chips Ahoy, and one of the black cherry seltzer waters. My wife thought I was being a pig because I was.

IMO, the cheese doodles and Rice Krispy are not great, so far as snacks go. I'd be tempted to check my rewards points on the McDank app, assuming there was a restaurant nearby.

Where do you guys shop that they have these candy stores? The only thing I can remember from my rare dealer visits are coffee machines and maybe once an empty popcorn machine. No biscotti or croissants to be found anywhere. My Ford dealer didn’t even have a TV set, it was like waiting in a funeral home.

@oldfarmer50 - I've never been at a dealer that had that much selection, but was talking about snacks in general. My local $1.25Tree stores have stopped carrying microwave popcorn... How annoying!

Just curious @xwesx, did you get a PPI before you bought it? Nice that you can share it with your brother. Just make sure he fills the tank (that thing must be huge) and has it waxed and ready to go when you get to Ohio.

Good luck with it and let us know what your brother thinks of it after he shakes it down for a few weeks.

Haha! That's a great point, Q, but I'm fairly confident in him. At least, he'll do it no harm in relation to what your brother is capable of pulling off. His other vehicles are a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, which he's owned since 2015 and it looks and feels like it is still 2015, and a Camaro ZL1, which he keeps immaculate (but who wouldn't?!).

I’m going to have to ask my buddy who works at the Mercedes-BMW-Mini-Honda store where I bought my truck if they have a good snack selection. I could always pretend to shop a $250k G Wagon if it meant a free lunch.🥗

OK, so what’s the deal with Toyota recalling a bunch of vehicles with V6 engines because of milling particles causing the motor to grenade? I thought that was a Hyundai/Kia problem?

I thought I was hearing noises from my brakes on the Outback , so I took it to a local shop who does free inspections.

Fearing the worst, I was pleasantly surprised to be told everything is in great shape. 6mm on the front pads, 9mm on the rear, no unnatural scoring or other issues on the rotors.

    Dodged a bullet.

Fixed up one of my fenders today. The rust was much more extensive than I originally thought. I couldn’t do the other side because I didn’t have enough rust inhibitor on hand.

Pics show after I chipped away all the bad rust, then after treating what remained, then after applying the wrap, and the finished exterior product. Also a shot of all the rust on the ground for good measure. As a last step, I’ll apply a rubber liner on the inner fender to seal it up.

Welcome to the hooptie club.😂 Your frame looks surprisingly good which is what really matters. It’s amazing that manufacturers can’t somehow prevent rust from forming in the space between the inner and outer bed panels. I’m currently looking for some way of spraying rust preventative into that void so mine doesn’t end up like that.

Have you considered doing some hillbilly body work with foam and Bondo to close in that gap?

On mine, it is closed around the wheel (well, it would be closed if not rusted through), but open behind and in front. So one could reach up over the wheel well from under the truck.

Not shown in pics, but I needed a small bit of structure where the rust reached higher than the fender flare, so I used a piece of plastic and bondo. Close.

For the gap, that would be too big a spread of bondo and not hold up. Now spray foam on the other hand…

That is an impressively professional job. You are obviously a talented all around Mechanic (capital M). More importantly ambitious or at least have the kind of personality that has to keep busy all the time, which I also was when I was younger. In any case you increased the value of that pickup quite a bit and probably in the $1000s

Luca Bistro. They have kind of odd hours, so check to make sure they are open before you go. The old timer, bon vivant-looking dude sitting next to me said he's had everything on the menu and it's all excellent.

I took the Ariya. Started fully charged and set the cruise around 75 on the way up. Arrived at CAM with 47% charge remaining, plugged into one of their Level 2 chargers. $0.35/kWh is quite spendy for an L2 charge, plus I got a $0.50 fee added onto the final tally because I'm not a member of the FLO network. $6.82 for a two hour, 35 minute charging session, which got me to 70% state of charge.

I drove closer to 80 on the return trip and would have made it to my house with about 14% remaining, but I decided to stop at one of the free L2 chargers in town to try to get a head start on charging it back up (it will take days with the L1 charger). Parked at the Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church with 12% remaining, made a lap around the Crescent Hill Reservoir and the neighborhood nearby, and got back in with a 22% charge, 2% of which was burned off on the trip home, so kind of a fool's errand, but at least I got my steps in.

My takeaway is that it's fairly tricky to plan a day trip that's outside of the vehicle's range and rely upon stopping for a couple of hours for an L2 charge at the destination. Definitely a good idea to look for a nearby DC fast charger as a backup (there are none along I-71 between Northern KY and Louisville).

Does the Aryia have route plotting Nav that shows DC fast chargers along the route? I haven’t tried it in the Blazer yet. It still has about 60% charge because we have only been driving it around town.

sweet deal. I would definitely grab one of those at that price and flip the Acura.

did a walk through on the new house today, and it does have a 220 outlet in the garage. so any time I get a plug in, just need to get a charger and hang it on the wall and plug it on in.

In the past several years, my experience has been that dealers (especially the local ones) are very committed to whatever price they ask, and aren't willing to negotiate, so I just try to find something that is attractively priced, right out of the gate.

Dealer in Nashville was willing to give them away. The higher trim level one (at whatever discount they were giving) would have been around $299/month, which seems a touch high, given what I've seen on the forums here, but not completely unreasonable.

I believe it does, as I know you can search for nearby EV chargers, however, I have noticed that some of the EV chargers in its database are for places like a nearby Kia dealer, which may not really be open to the public that aren't customers. So, I'm planning any necessary or potential charging stops along my route manually using the Plugshare app.
