Sorry, guys, I've been away for a few days. Not to mention crazy busy with the move. But only 2 peeps with complete info, so...

s60 ... $17k tops at the auction. I guess $22k CPO isn't too bad. I've seen better, though. Some of the better deals I've run across while hunting these run about $3k-$3500 over auction value for CPO.

CX9 ... close is a relative term.
With the needs it has, you might be seeing $19.5k-$20k. $700 ain't a bad ding.

Well I have a 1999 Jaguar XJ8 which hasn't been that bad to maintain. With the help of Youtube videos you can do most of the maintenance yourself. I think the price of the car is on the high side myself.

Actually, the price isn't too bad. I mean, comps are tough, but I see a '99 sold last week with 68k miles for $6800, and another a few months ago with 57k for $7600.

IIRC, these have issues with timing tensioners and/or guides. I'd want to know if they've been changed and, preferably, updated. I don't have time to search right now, but I believe they issued updated metal ones at some point.

Thanks for the pricing my XJ8 has the same drivetrain so I'm well aware of the timing tensioner issues.

infiniti - well, they vary a bit. range is $21,500-$23k. I'm assuming that, with nav, this would probably be on the higher end of that range.

Passat - not much, I'm afraid. Looking at these values makes me think I should buy one! You might get $2k-$2500. Maybe.

Makes me glad I sold mine last year, rather than this year. I had a 2008 Passat, one owner, full service records, very clean condition, but 103k miles. Brought $8k on a private party sale in July of 2014.

I'm rather surprised to see the value that low.

As an update.  Got 3800 from a no haggle dealer.  The purchase was a 2013 AWD rx 350 with nav and 22000 for 33,900

I ended up getting $10,550. I probably could have tried harder to get more. Someday I will get this right. I bought a Subaru Forester and I hope I'm happy for more than three years.

@qbrozen or any others with knowledge, has the dieselgate fiasco had a direct impact on the price of used TDIs? I wouldn't mind picking up a 2013 or 2014 Passat TDI at 1/3 to 1/2 off.

That's not going to happen. A lot of potential buyers won't care.

Hmmm... Maybe. Probably too soon to tell, but it wouldn't surprise me if some bargains didn't pop up. I cannot imagine that these are going to sell well, or maybe not at all, at the auctions.

Definitely too early to tell. I agree that probably alot of buyers won't care, or you'll get enough people like you trying to get a bargain that it will just keep the price up. However, I would have thought that you'd find big dips at the auction. I mean, if I were a dealer, I certainly wouldn't be bidding on any right now because I don't know what the future will bring. Maybe I won't be allowed to sell it, for example.

Anyway, I went through a few examples and with the handful that have crossed the block since the news broke, I'm not seeing a clear effect on the prices.

assuming it is a 4-door, the absolute highest price at auction was $5800. So I'd say $8k is the limit.

That price would make much more sense on a coupe. If that's the case, more like $10k-$10.5k would be closer to the mark for a really nice example.

 I think he made a deal for it at $10,750.  One owner car, all service records through the dealership.  original owner traded it in on a new Q 50
