My wife and I have the Santa Fe on our short list. We like the car, but we like others as well. There are 5 area dealerships, and 3 of the 5 have about 100 Santa Fes each. The other two have around 60 each. With such high inventory, it seems like the $2500 incentive is low. Do you guys think we should wait longer to see how much further they come down in price? Right now we can get a FWD Limited for right around $25k.

I can give you an honest opinion if you tell me what the MSRP was on the FWD Limited that you were quoted 25,000 for? What options were included? Does the 25000 include tax, reg, and fees?

PS. My husband and I just bought 2 Santa Fe SE FWD. Love them.
  • counselor4444counselor4444 Member Posts: 47
We purchased our first 09 Santa Fe in August. SE FWD was MSRP $25,770, paid $21,250 + tax and fees. Saturday purchased a second SE FWD MSRP $26,285, paid $21,000 + tax and fees.

Figures, I feel like I got a bad deal then. I just got a 2008 AWD Limited with sunroof, dvd etc for $25,700. After all the research I had done, it seemed a good deal right up until I found this forum today, less than 24 hrs after I purchased the car. The 2008 had 400 miles on it. The buying experience was very good, but no wonder if they walked away with a couple of grand. I had put 6k down and have 5% interest. Sigh...

I am not kidding, I had looked everywhere for TMVs and such. I got the car because it was what I needed in a vehicle at a price I thought fair. My subaru was dead at 124k. Worst time to have to buy a car.

Since I am signed sealed and delivered, any recourse? It would be nice to save 3 or 4 k.

I am on the verge of buying Santa Fe, I am so glad that I found this forum else I would have paid more than 25K.

Does anyone here have any experience buying from Burlington(vermont) dealers? How much should I expect here?

    Really appreciate a response.
  • counselor4444counselor4444 Member Posts: 47
pdsabre, no you cannot get any money back. Once you sign the dotted line, you agree. No buyers remorse.

I don't think you got a bad deal, necessarily. You got the most expensive trim with expensive options. The only down side is that you bought a 2008 and not a 2009. Be happy about your new car. Trust me, I hate finding out I could have done better. But it is done. And the Santa Fe is great. Enjoy!

The one we were quotes $25k for was a limited with no additional big options...(i.e no RSE pakage, no touring package. I can't exactly remember the MSRP, but I think it was somewhere around $31k. Does that sound right?

Anyway, we did an about face, and bought a 2010 Ford Flex SE. We got it with Microsoft Sync (w/o navigation screen), the towing package, and the roof rails. We had them install satellite radio and remote start as well. MSRP was 30,083 + ~1,050 for for the sirius and remote start. We paid $27.5 ($5k down) and got 4.64% rate. So far we are happy, but we've only had it for 1 day.
  • pdsabrepdsabre Member Posts: 3
I am pretty happy, I think I got the best deal I could in my area NY. Three grand would have been nice, but you are right. Fido as we used to say.
  • lil_doclil_doc Member Posts: 9
Just made a deal for a 2009 FWD SF Limited. MSRP = 33275
    Invoice quoted as = 31369
    Paid = 28686
Limited with RSE Touring Package. Also stated to have side rails and floor mats.
How did I do? That price does reflect the 2500 cash back rebate.
  • counselor4444counselor4444 Member Posts: 47
What area of the country are you in? In the northeast, right now you would have gotten invoice minus $2500 rebate minus $1500-1700 dealer cash.
  • lil_doclil_doc Member Posts: 9
Well, that is a bit unfortunate I don't live there. I live in the Southwest, and I have the vehicle being delivered from the Midwest. That extra 1500-1700 would have been nice. However, I am quite pleased with the work the dealer I worked with. My local dealer promised that there was no way I could get what I wanted. The Midwest dealer has shown me that is not correct. Too bad I did the legwork to get my vehicle (OK, "webwork", as I didn't have to doing any walking. :)

hey, whats a good price on the extended warranty for a santa fe. cant seem to find any info on this. thanks!
  • anonymouse2anonymouse2 Member Posts: 17
5 years comprehensive, 10 years powertrain is not enough?
  • mclarrymclarry Member Posts: 21
not for my buddy. he paid a grand to extend the comprehensive to 10yrs 100,000 mi. just wondering if he should shop it around while he still can.

though I agree with you, the standard should be enough

Just today done the deal for Santa FE AWD + 04 Premium Package(moonroof , heated seats, power driver seats etc.) + Bluetooth system + carpeted floors mats.
I paid $23,000 OTD in Fairfax, VA. I think it was excellent deal but would like to know - was it good enough ? Was there in scope for going down further?

    Let me know
  • montygoatmontygoat Member Posts: 3
is it a limited, or GLS?
  • santafe_fansantafe_fan Member Posts: 2
It's actually SE AWD , upper trim of GLS.
  • ojtwelveojtwelve Member Posts: 4
Santafe_Fan I think that is a good OTD price. What dealership did you buy from?
  • montygoatmontygoat Member Posts: 3
That's great deal especially with AWD plus all other features. I'm in Bayarea, and dealers have no willingness to lower down the price by pointing me the low inventory in their lots.
  • robert0380robert0380 Member Posts: 1
2009 Hyundai Santa Fe FWD Limited
No extra options: $24,722 (3,400 below invoice including incentives)
    MSRP = $29,595
    Invoice = $28,122

Does this sound like a good deal? I got this price using a car buying program through USAA.

Sounds like an excellent deal to me. Last weekend I paid $24,498 OTD for a new 2009 Santa Fe SE AWD, silver, with floor mats and Bluetooth from the Ourisman dealership in Laurel, MD. They were the lowest of seven MD dealerships I contacted.

What's a good OTD price for a AWD Limited w/ nav in VA? Thx
  • ckone0814ckone0814 Member Posts: 71
Not sure it'll be of any value to anyone but I thought someone might find it interesting. I did!

SE PA. I just traded an 05 Nissan Pathfinder LE w/ 50k miles AND an 07 Mazda3 Hatch Sport w/ 50k miles straight-up for an 09 SF Limited AWD. No significant options to mention, sticker was $31,500 +/- a couple of bucks.

Trade values on the two cars was exactly $25,000.

I did not pay one dime, not even tax or tags! Even though it was two for one, it was nice to walk away with a new car for free (well kinda...).

Has the 3rd row seats, which I don't need, think its a good deal. Found it on cars.com and made a deal on the phone w #1k down on the plastic. It has the Hyundai Certified CPO warranty

Anyone have experience with the factory wheel & tire warranty? vehicle care? vehicle protection?

    Experiences appreciated

Have an offer for a 2009 Limited 4dr SUV AWD Sante Fe (Midwest) with following options:
    - Option Group 16 Touring Package w/Rear Seat Entertainment System ($3,150)
    - Roof Rack Cross Rails ($195)
    - Carpeted Floor Mats (7-Passenger) ($135)

    Sticker $34,775 (according to truecar.com)
    Invoice $32,933 (according to truecar.com)
    Offer $27,600

    What do you think?
  • lil_doclil_doc Member Posts: 9
You are buying or selling? I just purchased the same thing two weeks ago, except that mine is FWD, and has side rails. The roof rack cross rails should be standard on the Limited. It came from the midwest (I live in NM.) Sticker was $33,275.00. Believe Invoice was $31,369.00. We agreed on $28,500.00. Believe me, I tried to get it down to $28,300.00. I was very pleased with that price, and also very pleased with the dealer, as they got me exactly (except the side rails were included, and I really didn't need them) when my local dealer guaranteed that they couldn't get it for me. That price included $2500.00 rebate. Others may be more "in the know" about a good price, but I am happy.
  • montygoatmontygoat Member Posts: 3
Is 28,500.00 OTD or Car itself price? Good price for OTD, but bit high after TTL paid.
  • lil_doclil_doc Member Posts: 9
Don't tell me that. $28,500.00 was my price to the dealer. I have to pay tax here in NM (don't know what that is, yet). I will also have to register it in NM. Tax will be a bit of a hit, but not registration.
Again, I have to say I am pleased, for the most part. I got what I wanted, but had to go out of the city/state to get it.
  • z5470z5470 Member Posts: 28
    Just got this price:
MSRP 31635 options mud flaps-mats-cargo tray
    with 2500 rebate
Final cost 25695. plus tax and tags
Good Deal???? I would like some feedback as the 2500 rebate goes at the end of the month.

i researched rockland county new york and new jersey the prices were ridiculous
i found a dealer danbury hyundai that gave me a price of $24,700 for a awd sante fe limited which i think is a good deal taxes dmv extra. dealer is 1 hour and 15 minutes away. has anyone had a good offer in a closer proximity to orange county
    new york thanks
  • richiegrichieg Member Posts: 9
i received a price of $24,700 at danbury hyundai in connecticut where is your dealership located ?
  • z5470z5470 Member Posts: 28
I just signed the dotted line. I told this salesman that I could get the same car for 24700 as you said. He told me that they probably would have some extra charges built into that when I would pick up the car. I live in the area where I purchased the car. Lester Glenn Hyundai, Toms River and Manahawkin, NJ They are the 2nd largest Hyundai dealership in the country.
msrp was 31960 31635+325 for bluetooth installed=31960 total
msrp( I told them they had to throw in the Bluetooth)
    I paid 25695
+ tax and tags etc. Also I did get an extended warranty because I drive 25K per year. Three other dealers wanted 1295 10yr 100.000 bumper to bumper with zero ded. I got it for 995.00 because there was one dealer who said around 1K for it.
I think I maybe could have squeezed him a bit more but I do live in the area and the saleman and I know alot of the same people. I think I did OK. Good luck

2009 Limited for MSRP $29,745, OTD for $27,359 at 0% 72mos. Any good? I put $2500 down and they gave $1100 for my POS Malibu that was worth about $2.

They were offering up to $6000 off but of course that was only for the $35k limited. The other offer was 0% for 72 months.
  • redfivekbsredfivekbs Member Posts: 6
    Z5470,

thats $6000 off list which is pretty good. My local dealer (in OH) was offering up to $6k off but it was only on one particular car. It happened to be a $35k Limited with every bell and whistle. I got them to go a bit off of the sticker but also got 72 months at 0% which was worth over $4300 over the life of the loan so not too bad.

Good luck. We love our Limited but we've only had it for 24 hours or so.
  • redfivekbsredfivekbs Member Posts: 6
Oh... we ended up with a Limited that was about $30k list...
  • matrix916matrix916 Member Posts: 3
Quick question, does the price of $25695 include the extended warranty? I calculated your price minus $995 and $325 (warranty & bluetooth) which should be the car I want (2009 limited) and offered $26,000 OTD, it didn't work:(
  • matrix916matrix916 Member Posts: 3
I offered $26,000 and the saleman told me they couldn't make it. Which dealer did you go? I would like to get it from the same dealer with that price.
  • z5470z5470 Member Posts: 28
Lester Glenn Hyundai in Manahawkin, NJ Salesman Ralph G,
the ext warranty was an extra. The price was 25695 orig WITHOUT the bluetooth and the ext warr was 1295. I told them 25695 with the bluetooth (which is great) and the ext warr for 995 extra. Zero ded 100kbumper to bumper for ten years.
    Good luck.
  • richiegrichieg Member Posts: 9
i just purchased a sante fe limited awd 2009 for $24,700 plus tax and dmv
after researching for a month the closest price was $26,000. danbury hyundai
always gives a good price. too bad it is over an hour trip.
  • matrix916matrix916 Member Posts: 3
Thank you for the reply. It's really nice to know those tips when first time dealing with auto dealers. Unfortunately I can't get a nice price in Ohio. I'd rather wait for GMC Terrain next year. It's the hottest car on the market, and there is no car in the inventory of local dealer.
  • redfivekbsredfivekbs Member Posts: 6
Oompah - where are you in Ohio? Elyria Hyundai, near cleveland, has 22 Santa Fe's on hand and weren't too bad to deal with. www.elyriahyundai.com

Of course, they have only had the 22 Santa Fe's for five minutes if you ask them. In reality, they have had 23 for over two months and only dropped to 22 when we bought ours. They have a $35k limited AWD, entertainment system, etc. they were offering at $6k off list.
  • togrovetogrove Member Posts: 25
A dealership quoted me a Santa Fe SE AWD for $22,360 plus ttl. Does it sound like a reasonable offer to you folks? The quote is after the $2,500 manufacturer rebate. Is it still possible to get 0% financing? Tia.
  • redfivekbsredfivekbs Member Posts: 6
Togrove, you may want to look at 0% rather than the $2500 off. I saved over $4200 with 0% vs the $2500 off and a 5% loan for 72 months. They should give you a few percent off of list too. Don't pay list.
  • talkintribetalkintribe Member Posts: 16
Just drove off with a FWD Santa Fe Limited for $23200 ($26k out the door after TX,TTL) in the Chicagoland area. Our best price for AWD was 25200 but decided that we didn't need the AWD so never really negotiated for a better AWD price. No one in the Cleveland, OH area was anywhere close. The Costco pricing was $1600 more. One other Chicago dealer matched the price but could not beat it. Other Chicago dealers could not figure out how to match the price without taking a big loss. How'd I do?
  • togrovetogrove Member Posts: 25
A local dealership gave me a good quote of Santa Fe SE, but there is a challenge - there is no 2009 Santa Fe SE left in my area. The local dealership found an SE, which is some 100 - 200 miles away in another dealership. The local dealership said they would get the car on site by driving it in, instead of using a flatbed truck. Salesperson said his quote was so low that he could not afford using a flatbed truck, unless I pay $1 per mile, which translates to $100 - 200 on top of the quoted price. Is this a normal practice? Is there a way to arrange a pick-up at the other dealership (if 200 miles away)? Tia.
  • togrovetogrove Member Posts: 25
Talkintribe, if that $23,200 price included destination fee, that was a good one for Limited FWD. Do you mind telling which dealership was it?
  • sizzlechestsizzlechest Member Posts: 19
Dealers in southern california are advertising the FWD GLS for $17666 and 0% Financing. is this a good deal?
  • talkintribetalkintribe Member Posts: 16
It included destination. It included everything but Tax, Title, and Licensing. I have no problem telling you who it was. We bought it at Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg. They were also great to deal with. The other dealerships in the area (except 1) would not/could not match it. We decided it was worth the drive to Schaumburg rather than the other dealer because Patrick seemed pretty much no-nonsense. They gave me a great internet quote and itemized it on request. Then, when we got out there, it was pretty much just to test drive "Our" Santa Fe and complete the transaction.
  • godeacsgodeacs Member Posts: 481
Uh, yes!! Bet they have 1 on the lot just to get you in the showroom and then the old "bait/switch" starts. Anything under $20K seems like a great price......even with the $2500 incentive. Truecar.com says anything under $22.3K BEFORE incentives is a great price. You do the math.... :)
  • wyngatorwyngator Member Posts: 29
Okay, where are all the end of the year steals I keep hearing about? We want a new white 2009 limited FWD with the navigation package and beige leather interior. The best deal I have found (and I have shopped around a lot) is $ 28,600 OTD.

Yes, I know that includes all tag, taxes and dealer fees but I still feel this is a higher price than I expected when I began my search. Any input from you seasoned hyundai shoppers? We really need the navigation package and don't want to stick an add on there so I know we are seeing a higher price due to that option but still I would love find better deal.

I will say the sales people have been very nice to deal with but where are the eoy specials people rave about? :confuse:
