It’s getting to be crunch time on replacing the PT.

Wait.... I thought crunch time is what happened at the beginning of this whole process?!
    Pretty much. LOL :p

I had an @abacomike sort of day today. My new TV was scheduled to arrive today according to the tracking provided by Amazon. The shipper was Purolator. I had been tracking it for the last week or so ever since it left the warehouse in British Columbia, on the other side of the country. I was pleased to see when I checked it early this morning that it had arrived at Purolator's local depot at 1:42 this morning and was placed on a local truck for delivery at 8:14. Since I was up bright and early I did my morning routine fairly quickly and was waiting for a knock on the door. At around 9:30 came the knock. But it was instead the home care worker for my elderly 94 y-o neighbor, who waved from their car at the curb, holding a package of a couple of small items that was in that same order but shipped via Canada Post separately. They had delivered it to her by mistake and left it on her back deck in the snow. I checked the address on the package and it was correct, so the postie screwed up. Hmmm. No harm done, it was nice of them to stop by on their way to buy groceries. The morning passed and no knock. At lunchtime though, another knock, and it was the same home care lady, this time holding a delivery attempted slip from Purolator. They had gone to her house as well, while they were out shopping. Unreal. Since there was still plenty of time left in the work day, I tried to reach the local Purolator office to arrange a retry. Discovered that you cannot talk to anyone there as their phone number is a closely guarded secret. You can only use the national 1-800 number. This time of year you get a recording saying they are so busy you will be on hold a long time and might want to try to reach them by other methods. I reach out online and explain it was their mistake, they went to the wrong house, I was here all day and it seemed reasonable that it would still be on the truck and could be delivered today. Got a "we'll see what we can do" response with no promises, and of course I waited until 5PM for a delivery that did not come. It is now supposed to be here Monday. Blew the whole day, could not go out, could not take care of some business I wanted to do. Now we start again Monday. Needless to say I would not recommend Purolator for any sort of freight services.
Hello Ab348, I apologize that we did not attempt delivery to the correct location and for the delay on re delivery. If you still have not received your parcel please email us at customer.care@purolator.com for further assistance. Sincerely, ^Vanessa

Then again, the Kia dealer is still emailing me about making a deal on the Stinger before the end of the year. Last offer was $38,720 on the ‘18 GT2 in Red. I figure if I wait long enough, they might pay me to come take it.

    It's gonna be uuuuuugeeeaaaa!

Hey @ab348, I'll bet you never thought Purolator would be lurking in here did you? This has to be a first for something like this. At least I never saw anything like this in here before.

Who knew how far this site reaches? :o

    jmonroe
As long as the FBI, CIA or IRS aren’t lurking, I think we’ll be fine. :s
Ya know, that makes me wonder what kind of security this site offers for us dues paying regulars? Purolator ain't my problem but the ones you mentioned could be harmful to us. Especially the IRS because we are coming up on the cheating season for me. :'(

FWIW, we're considering a Soul EV for my wife (new or used) when the lease is up on the BMW. Her car sits in a park and ride 5 miles away from home most of the time during the week, so seems like a perfect use case for an EV.
I think I read that the Soul EV and Hyundai Kona EV are very similar.
doesn't the Kona have at least twice the range as the Soul?

Seems to be a real discount.....good price if that is the car you want....almost within Sticks budget too!
    What does this mean:
    Smedley's Savings 2
    - $1,436
    Take Delivery By 01/02/2019
    Cash Allowance 3
    - $4,503

    - Why $4503 for paying cash....if that is what they mean, don't they want you to finance (through them)?

I think "Cash allowance" here means simply manufacturer's rebate discount, no necessarily discount for paying cash. It is either this or special subsidized financing rate (e.g. 0 % APR) that might be available.

I'm not completely trusting these guys. Clicked at other models and something popped up that I simply can't stand - "customer's cash", here $2500 as a separate position, subtracted from the "sale price". In other words, the real price is actually higher by this amount, but because they made a separate line, now they can make a claim of the lower price in the headline. Somebody who posts this must have nothing but contempt for their customers.

That puts me off too. It would be interesting to know the year and model. It is particularly ugly if it was a 2018 leftover. The discount is miniscule, $1627 from the manufacturer, $939 from the dealer, and the $750 discount if financed from GMAC is like an I.Q. test that many will fail.....GMAC is going to make that $750 back plus a lot more no doubt.

So I checked directly with GM website. So there is $2500 cash allowance and another $2000 when using their financing (@ 9.9% APR!). So perhaps by "Customer cash" they actually meant allowance, it just truncated.
The other part, perhaps 750 was upped to 2 grand now, or there is another offer with lower cash and lower APR. So I may have been unfair to them.

Just a quick word....we had to put down Gigi this afternoon....we have known this day was coming for about a week. Putting down your dog or any pet is a sad experience. Here is this creature that depends on us for protection and yet we can't do anything to help them.
Gigi would have been 15 in April. She had 28 teeth removed about 6 weeks ago. She was recovering well, and actually seemed better than with her teeth.
Unfortunately, with dogs, one shock to the jaw can easily trigger cancer (which was probably there but smaller) to grow and spread quickly. Cancer of the jaw area is very common, some breeds more than others. Her tumor was getting into her nose area making breathing difficult, and eating was getting hard.
I read up a little on the topic and there is something vets do not stress enough. If at all possible try to brush your dogs teeth, not too many dog owners do that. When a dog gets older especially, you should have their teeth cleaned every year or two. Tartar can build up and their mouths are much more acidic than ours.....that creates bacteria which lowers their immunity and leads to all kinds of diseases and problems.
This is very hard on us. Gigi was a big part of our lives, we took her for a few walks every day and she was always good company....always wanted to please us and do the right thing.
We probably won't get another dog until we are more stationary, and are pretty much home bound.
If you have a pet, especially a dog enjoy them and appreciate them....the bond between humans and their dogs is a special one. give them an extra hug for Gigi.

So sorry for your loss of Gigi. I feel like I got to know her well from your stories and pictures. As the owner of three senior dogs (ages 15, 11 and 10), the wife and I are trying to prepare for "the day".

I hope you are able to adopt a new member of your family soon, who loves to travel and have adventures in both Canada and Florida.

    Hello Ab348,

I apologize that we did not attempt delivery to the correct location and for the delay on re delivery. If you still have not received your parcel please email us at customer.care@purolator.com for further assistance.

    Sincerely, ^Vanessa
Hey @ab348, I'll bet you never thought Purolator would be lurking in here did you? This has to be a first for something like this. At least I never saw anything like this in here before.

Who knew how far this site reaches? :o

    Sorry to hear that driver.

    @driver100:

My condolences to you and you wife.  Losing a dog is no different than losing a good friend or relative - the grief is the same.  But there is one bit of solace - you can always get another dog to love and share life with, but you can’t get another parent or sibling.  ;)B)

My sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to you, @driver100.

Many, many years ago, when I had lost a dog, someone sent me a sympathy card which said,

On the Kia Soul, I came within inches of buying one about 2 years ago. It is a lot of car for very little money.

What stopped me was when I realized that I could buy a 1 year old ex-rental Town and Country with about 30 or 35k miles for almost exactly the same money. For my money, I liked the T&C more, and I have not regretted that decision.

If you're sure that you would never use the extra space of the T&C, then the Soul could be the better choice for you. New versus used, long warranty instead of very short, better mpg, easier to park, etc.

    Your money, your choice.

Without looking I’d bet you can get a Soul around the 1% rule.  Hyundai usually has pretty hefty lease cash.

Loss of a pet is always sad. My family’s first little 3-year-old mut ran under a bus, while chasing simething. I was 14 then. Second one, a dalmatian, had a fairly long and happy life, at 12 or so, went to a surgery and poor thing’s heart collapsed when he woke up from anastesia. This was really a sad day. Didn’t get another one. Sorry for your loss, Driver.

A year or so ago, I scored a lease for my SIL on a Soul EV+ with Sun and Fun package (fully loaded - $38k MSRP) for first month and tags at signing (about $1k) and $149 a month. 36 month, 10k a year lease.  Residual on it is about $12k.

I was just thinking that. Purolator must have some darn good web monitoring software and an accompanying algorithm to identify negative information posted on the web.

If only their delivery process was so impressive!

I have to admit that I was pretty stunned to see Vanessa's message. Vanessa, in case you're reading, the re-delivery happened Saturday and aside from the day spent waiting at home, all is well.

Your standard auto insurance would not cover it. But there are companies that specialize in insuring vehicles for when they are on the track, but it can be expensive. I definitely would get that insurance if was going to race.

It isn't all that expensive; the premium to insure my 2er(with a agreed value of $36,000) was only $220 for a three day event. A three day event for my Club Sport was just $76 based on a $10,000 agreed value.
Seems expensive and pointless to me. Several stories of track cars being ruined on the drive home, while not being tracked. Many in the HPDE community down here agree the most dangerous part of a track weekend is the drive home. Recent S4 story about the rear-ending was of course, a car going home from the track.

Of course, Mustang Boy is screwed because someone filmed it and posted it online.

Why not just push it 100' outside the autocross venue?:open_mouth:
