    1) I see what you mean now...not much use in looking for more emojis, there are so many duplicates anyway.

2)I have tried many ways trying to do a partial quote, even tried standing on my head, I can't do it. I used to do it manually, but, you can't mess with what is in the box.

The speed is apparently not due to the connection but to how the code seems to be written. When you are typing a comment the editor seems to have some considerable lag on a PC but interestingly enough not a problem on my iPad. But trying to quote your post to make this reply on the iPad, the quote button was totally unresponsive for me until I refreshed the page, at which point it started to work again. Flaky.

Let me try this partial quote.

On page 3106 (about 5 pages back) in this forum, almost at the bottom of the page, @PF_Flyer gave a good explanation of how to do a partial quote. It looks harder than it is, after you do it once you will have it down.

Doesn't work so good if you are reading posts from anywhere other than the bottom of a board page as he left out the part of having to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page in order to start what amounts to a new post. Using the quote button eliminates that step.

How about copying it and pasting it so I don't have to go back and find it? 🙃

The partial quote is not really tricky, but it does NOT use the Quote link ( I think that's what you're calling a button) at the bottom of every post. The partial quote does NOT put the quote in a box, and a number of the "failed" partial quote attempts I've seen have quoted posts in a box, so the Quote link was what was used. I didn't leave anything out, EVERY post, whether it uses a quote or not, is a new post.

Yes, if you are partial quoting a post that is not the last post, you copy the text, and then go to the comment box at the bottom to paste it in. Once it's pasted, you click the Paragraph menu to "start" the quote

    6-24-2019 4-17-09 AM.jpg

Click on that quote menu and choose Quote

    6-24-2019 4-19-06 AM.jpg

Hit Enter, which ends the quote, then click on the quote symbol on the left side to change back to paragraph and continue typing, click Post Comment, and you're done

Can also quote the whole post (button into box) then delete what you don’t want. Just a thought.

I don't think you can get into the quote box to delete, once you've used the quote button, though. I'm still learning.

Yes, if you are partial quoting a post that is not the last post, you copy the text, and then go to the comment box at the bottom to paste it in. Once it's pasted, you click the Paragraph menu to "start" the quote

👆️ This is the part earlier explanations left out. For all the extra keystrokes and scrolling it requires I can't see many people using it unless there is a key piece of info in the midst of a long post that is required as is the case here. It's just much simpler and more intuitive to click the quote button link at the bottom of a post you're replying to.

Also, pro tip I just learned typing the above: don't try to apply text effects while you're typing because you can't turn them off until you highlight subsequent text. So you would have to type "button link" in this example then go back to highlight "button" and apply the strikeout to it, rather than just typing button as I did, highlighting it and attempting to apply the formatting then, as there seems to be no way to turn it off. Everything I typed after also had the strikeout applied.

I think the Blazer has a reasonable balance of strong notes in its design.

I picked a color that doesn't hide any deficiencies.

The only thing better is no hood at all. Cabovers are no longer necessary, with the standardization of 65' overall length allowances, but I did enjoy the spaciousness of my K100 cab.

I drove a few of the smaller city van type trucks (Isuzu I think). Took some getting used to (your legs being the crumple zone) but dang, you really knew where the front of that was!

I really like the Frieghtliner. hood sloped down nicely and you could easily determine where the front corners were. Could put that baby 2" from the car in front if I wanted to.

Interesting text from my daughter up in the Chicago area. They listed her townhouse Friday for $167,000 and her realtor has already received 3 offers at listing price - one of them is all cash with a 14 day close. Her realtor sent the offers back to the 3 bidders and asked them for a final offer. The realtor said the townhouse should sell for over listing price.

    Miraculous news!😁😀

I did a partial quote....yay team driver! But, one big problem is it doesn't show who you are quoting.

A friend saw this parked in the driveway of the next door neighbor....one of my favorites!

I can't get the image from my files...I will try again, next post, maybe the quote messed it up.

A townhouse in a major city for $167000. You can't buy a garage around here or anywhere in the country for $167000.....the property alone would be worth that! No wonder they are bidding.

That Blazer looks good but it needs a color. It doesn't look as good in white - which isn't as forgiving, or in black which doesn't have any hilights.

Side view of rear quarter panel is a bit odd too. It is distinctive, but not, necessarily in a good way.

Just to keep you folks in the loop... there have been some page loading speed issues that we're trying to track down. For the moment, we've switched back to the old comment editor to see what, if anything changes. (See? I told you it was just a setting :) )

In any event, keep reporting anything you notice in the Feedback & Suggestions discussion as that is a big help!

    As you were!

One other heads up, since we are on the html editor again, if you happen to quote a post that has a quote in it from the new editor, you will see a LOT of html in the comment box. Normal, and if you type below the quoted part and post, it DOES come out fine.

Just wanted you to NOT be surprised

  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
One more... if you were in a discussion like this one and had seen/used the rich editor, it will be in your cache and you may still see the rich editor. It will work for you if you happen to post using it, but simply refreshing the page will change your view back to the old html editor. Not an "issue" just a computer quirk :)

Can't quote anything right now - I get an error message saying it had to be converted from Rich to HTML (or vice versa, not sure) but eventually the entire message box disappears and you can't post anything despite multiple refreshes. I found several blank drafts in the My Drafts section and am trying to use one for this.

Refresh the page. Your computer/device remembers the Rich editor was there last time you visited. And it remembers every discussion you went in while we had the rich editor in place, so just refresh any time you still see the rich editor. *I* am still retracing my steps, but I figure I'll refresh them as I run across them

Yes, it was pretty seamless, just this pesky ad problem that may or may not be related to the switch that was causing page loading issues. We'll get it figured out. Pass me the BIG hammer! ;)

I did multiple refreshes with no effect. But now I am on my office computer which I also use for this site from time to time and now it is the old editor here. Nice and snappy when entering text too.

But it still won't let me post a picture using Firefox. :(

A little humor to soften the learning curve for the new editor.

Since we've been talking about knob and tube wiring, that outlet does NOT have a ground wire. IT does not meet code.

And a dog should never be encouraged to chew on electric wires. Since there's no ground wire, this certainly isn't a ground fault circuit to protect the dog... from getting a bite from the electricity when his tooth goes through the wires.

Technical info about the post: I did not copy the picture with a quote. I learn quick. I saved it to my computer and then uploaded it from my computer. I manually entered the text.

We've done enough real software changes in my time here (since early 2001) that I tend to go with the flow and adapt pretty quickly. I had done so (working out a few new moves...LOL) but then the speed issue cropped up so we needed to switch back to see if anything might have been the reason for the lags. Just SO many variables. The forums were completely down for me this morning for about 15 minutes, but so were several other sites, and people were posting on here just fine while "the site was DOWN", so that had to be something external to the forums and my computer. as a simple description, there was a break in the specific connection for me somewhere, probably never know exactly where :)

Amen. I remember Windows 95 and even Windows 3 or 3.1. DOS anyone? I laugh when I do things now that use DOS commands in Windows 10. If it works, I can use it that way.

(I capture Windows lockscreen images and convert them to jpg to use as my background screens that slideshow every 30 seconds--there are many beautiful images there, and I have about 300 that I share with a couple of folks for whom I try to keep their PC working. We have come a long way, but Murphy's Law still prevails. LOL

They did a pretty good job on the Blazer, but this Santa Fe is very similar, and I think it looks a little better.

I see they are using narrow headlights these days, guess they now allow anything...at one time they had to be a certain size.
