It's day one... period of adjustment. I've put in a question about the text appearing above/below images and quotes since I've run into that and find it a bit odd as well.
I'm gonna go with the flow at the moment and let the dust settle a bit. I've already found out how to bold and/or italic without leaving the keyboard (keyboard shortcuts) so I'm sure everything will get smoother the more we use it.
P.S. I do NOT recommend pushing through it for 7 straight hours. Makes your eyes go all funny 😲
But we do appreciate everyone poking into all the corners and helping us find the pain points quickly.
One thing I will say.....when we switched to the system we were just using there were similar frustrations and complaints....somehow you do get used to it.

Well, this forums software, at least in the manner it was implemented here, is troublesome because it acts very differently from a user POV than most other message board software I'm familiar with. I don't know how quite to describe it but it's like learning Russian or something. Add in the flaky behavior it began to exhibit in the previous version (which I guess nobody could fully figure out the reason for) and now new flaky behavior in this version, and the learning curve gets to be a bit much so it is easy to become annoyed with it.

And now for something completely different: My new Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine will be delivered on Tuesday. Replacing the ~14 y.o. Whirlpool that died in mid-wash a couple of weeks ago.

37 year old matching Maytag's still work’s great. We compare them to 6 year old matching LG top loader & gas dryer @ another location. 😜👍 Kirtland’s liquid laundry soap seems to work just as well as Tide’s in both machines. It’s a lot cheaper too.
I bought my first house back in 1978. Two bedroom, one bath, one car garage. Wooden frame, sitting on blocks, maybe 1,000 square feet or a little less. The house had been moved to that location in the mid-50’s, no real idea how old the house was. The wiring was old , no ground anywhere, 4 circuits coming off of a 60 amp fuse panel. Yes, fuses.
My older brother had worked for a few years as an electrician, and he helped me to partially re-wire the place. We put in a 100 amp panel, hooked up the old circuits, and then ran new circuits. Using UF (underground feed) around the outside of the house, drilling through the walls and putting in new outlets in every room on the exterior wall. And one 220 volt outlet in the living room for a new window unit A/C.
Did it meet code? Absolutely not. Was it legal? Who knows, who cares. Was it safe? It was unquestionably safer than the old setup. I lived there for 9 years, and sold it with no problems. Actually, I let someone assume the mortgage. In 1987, Houston was in a huge recession, there were tons of foreclosed houses for pennies on the dollar. I paid $35k for a VA foreclosure, 3-2-2, 1500 sq feet, 5 years old, in excellent condition, which sold new 5 years previously for $82k. I counted myself d___ lucky to find someone to take over the $19k mortgage on the old house.
The world has “moved on”, as Stephen King would say. The days when you could rewire the house, ignoring permits and codes, has pretty much gone away.
It almost seems ANY house can never have enough outlets. A new house today seems need at least four box outlets every 6 feet, with even more in “critical” places.📺📠📲📞💻🖥🔌. So much for energy conservation. Solar & wind & natural gas, diesel back ups should be the rule.
I was actually going to buy an LG, but really wanted to buy domestic. So, let's hope I made a good choice! Big fan of Costco/Kirkland products.
I may have been a part of the washer problem, I tended to always extra large load it.

When I was a kid in the late 80s, my family moved into a house from ~ 1905, as my parents both liked that kind of thing, and decided to take the plunge. It was a lovely looking old place with tons of charm - woodwork, tons of leaded glass, built-ins, etc. It also still had a fuse box. I don't remember the fuses being troublesome, but I recall looking at the box itself, and my dad even then remarking that it was ancient tech. The place ended up being kind of a money pit, and my dad bailed after a few years - I think either a pipe bursting on Christmas Eve or learning the brickwork in the dining room fireplace had to be rebuilt was the last straw. We never had an unrenovated old house again.
It’s so far so good for the 6 year old LG products. Going forward however, the 25% tariffs might apply to foreign made washer and dryer products. @ purchase tariffs did not apply. The gas dryer seems to work faster & with less wrinkles. For now anyway, natural gas costs far less than kWh electrical. I’m not sure of kWh/BTU equivalencies. I ran the numbers when I was making the choice and the costs were for cheaper for the gas model, both upfront & operations. The location is plumbed for both, so I can switch or even add a kWh electrical product.
Staying the night in Prattville. Lovely little town. On to bikinis and booze tomorrow!
Agent not explaining situation to well. Sellers not agreeing to pay for knob and tube repairs, foundation repairs, garage door open, window repair, and some faulty electrical outlets. Paying for a structural engineer inspection. So foundation and electrical repair estimates come Monday. Daughter has 24 hours to decide to proceed with the buy....or run.
Thanks for the info on knob and tube, panel boxes, amps, and personal experiences.
Got a 3 year old washer and a 100 (?) year old dryer for daughter last week in our neighborhood yard sell. $50 for washer and $10 for dryer. Dryer has a rusty top side I was going to sand and repaint. Owners said work great. Hope so.
Jip, my daughter (technically her BF, but they live together) just closed on a house today. Circa 1958, but was the original owner. The husband had died recently and the wife was ill, so the kids had to take over and sell the place. But, the husband apparently was very big on taking care of the place. They had it inspected, and the inspectors said it was one of the cleanest houses they had done in a while. Shocking for the age, but that is the advantage of keeping up with maintenance. A few minor things to do up front, and then just cosmetics (paint, cleaning) and sprucing up (eventually would like a new kitchen and bath, but both are OK for now).
I got nominated for doing a basic bathroom sprucing up. Got the old vanity out today (was not original but far from new). They made it easy, by not having it attached at all. top lifted right off, and cabinet was just sitting on the floor. Guess they did not want to screw it into the tile again. Daughter is putting down vinyl peel and stick floor, then I get to put the new vanity and faucet in. Should be doable. I have done replacement faucets before. First time for a vanity though. Should not be too hard. Might even figure out how to anchor it to the wall!
Need to pull off the OEM medicine cabinet next. Going to be interesting, since it is a big honking thing that includes the light. No clue what I am going to find behind that. Big hassle though is there is only one bathroom now, so can't just take it off-line indefinitely. Thankfully the toilet is not being changed.
Next week I got volunteered to paint the LR/DR/hall and master bedroom. Thankfully it is a pretty small place, with lower ceilings. Less acreage to cover!
My parents’ house that i am currently selling is a farmhouse with small barn and chicken coop all built around 1920. They moved us there in ‘77. All original plaster and lath, no insulation, cloth wiring, pot belly central fireplace, etc. All renos were done slowly over the 40 yrs since. Pretty much nothing of the main house except the original wood frame remains, but the past few years has involved going back over those 35+ yr old renos, such as pipes. It is neverending for some homeowners.

I love Bermuda. can't wait to go back at some point. You boating down or flying? We aren't "boat people" so still flew in and stayed at a hotel. We went in 2015 I think. last time before that was our honeymoon.
Yes, this place is fairly clean. Daughter and boyfriend, to be husband whenever he proposes, are buyers. Been together 4 or 5 years. Well, my daughter is actually buying. He will be paying rent. He leaves his underwear on the floor....leaves the toilet seat up.....raise the rent!!
But, paint and everything fine on interior. Exterior needs paint on window trim. Vinyl siding. Basement has a dehumidifier. No funky smells. No noticeable leaks. Huge deck needs to be stained. Looks to be about 5 years old, think that will end up being my assignment should daughter buy.
That house and outbuildings (garages?) must be close to 50+ years old. I hate to think what needs to be done to the place. The asking price seems fair, but once you determine what needs to go into that house and outbuildings, it could be closer to $500,000. I'm thinking new roof(s), leaking basement, structural integrity - and don't forget about the interior. Picturesque to be sure. 😎
Well, this guy was a neighbor. Lives in the house behind mine. Loaded it his van (cereal and nerds on floor) and delivered to my house. If it lasts a year I guess we'll have gotten my money's worth. Hope so. :-)

Bermuda is lovely, stayed at the Southampton Princess in '12. Reserved two rooms, one for adults, one for kids. But, one room broke, so we had to spend the first night in one room, the remaining three nights in a suite, 3 rooms, 3 full bathrooms, tvs and a big balcony. Fairmont didn't upcharge and credited price of second room; well done! Took water taxi for a day in Hamilton, lounging by the saltwater pool at the Hamilton Princess. Dinner one night at the Waterlot Inn, a 300 year old structure. And, not cheap... but not much is there.
