I think/hope even the cheapest Rio/Accent/Mirage/Fiesta/Spark etc will make it to 150K if maintained and not abused too much, although they might not look pretty when they get there.

One thing I would want updated in that Mustang is the large steering wheel:

Power windows would be nice too, oh, and how about a GPS and bluetooth plus media center for my $175K?

Looks like a GPS screen to me, or at least a CarPlay capable head unit.

The windows are power, the crank handle is the switch.

Anyone from Canada have experience renting a car from Europcar? (Vancouver Airport). Low ratings, but good Mid-Size SUV rental price.

THat’s who I used in Spain. Can’t complain other than them being super slow when I picked up the car. Took about 45 mins, and I was just third in line with 2 attendants.

Missed that.....OK then I can buy it....except for the steering wheel...I hate those big steering wheels that are thin.....guess I could get it leather wrapped. Maybe they can swap out for a new wheel if I pay extra.

The engine for the 66 Mustang is not a 6-cylinder or 289 V8.
"The standard engine in the Revology Mustang for manual transmission is the Ford GEN 3 5.0 L Ti-VCT “Coyote” DOHC V8, rated at 460HP. The standard engine for automatic transmission in the Revology Mustang is the Ford 5.0L Ti-VCT “Coyote” DOHC V8, rated at 435HP."

Other parts of the vehicle are improved and updated such as brakes.
So you're getting a lot for your $275,000.

The larger diameter steering wheel made it easier to turn the wheels when moving slowly or at a dead stop--manual steering.

Of course this puppy has rack and pinion power assisted steering.

Nicely limited phobia. The much greater height of an airplane didn’t trigger it.

We have several drivers who have a fear of driving over bridges. That phobia was shared by my wife’s relative who was a millionaire telecom executive. Amazing how our brains work to compartmentalize our anxiety.

That car doesn't look like it would be suitable for a 460 hp V8 engine. It looks kind of flimsy and even the tires don't look tough enough. Steering would be weird with that large thin steering wheel. And, as mentioned no airbags. Even the seats don't look that strong or designed for driving with 460 horses.
I like explorers idea of getting a new Mustang GT Premium convertible - in fact, get 3 or 4 of them!

There is a dealer group near me that is starting it's own luxury car subscription service. For either $1,200 or $1,500 a month you can drive any number of high end cars. The cost provides you 1,500 miles a month, the ability to switch cars 3 times a month, insurance and all maintenance and repairs.

    What do you think?

At the moment, I'm spending just over $1000/mo for payments and insurance on the Jetta and Outback.

Another $200-500/mo to only drive one car (luxury or not) seems like a hefty premium.
As it does to me, but there are some who will pay more for the luxury brand and that's who they are marketing to. This might be good for BMW/MB/Audi/etc. drivers who are chronic car buyers.
As CPA, one could also probably shed more light on this than I. It’s also ideal for corporations and LLCs, that do not want assets nor, more importantly insurance, etc., liabilities that goes with car driving. So for example, if one’s the CEO of Apple Computer, one doesn't want to drive drunk and get caught killing somebody in a car accident in a Apple Computer owned car. Indeed, if one is Apple computer legal GC, one probably doesn't want the CEO to drive at all.

Some of the best used car specimens are from those corporate leases.
As a CPA I will say that every company is different so it depends on the company. As for the drunken driver issue it's more an issue of if he was on company time or was operating in the performance of his duties.

If you are looking for a day trip, drive down there and take the free ferry over to Okracoke Island.
If weather is good kids will love the ferry.

Thanks for that suggestion but this vacation is already planned out.Tomorrow is day-trip day and we are going about 40 miles north to see the wild horses that live on the island up there. By the time we get back after stopping to eat dinner, the only water we'll be getting in will be at this condo village's pool. Nice pool, we went there last night but it ain't no ocean. :@

Why would you want to go in the ocean? Didn’t you hear a poor 21 yo girl got chewed to pieces by 3 sharks yesterday?

BTW, what did you ever decide to do with your Sebring’s top? I’ve been ripping around in mine every sunny day, getting compliments from strangers and looks from pretty girls.
We decided to forgo any repairs for now. The Sebring doesnt get a lot of good weather use now since we use the bike when weather is good. We are keeping our eyes open for a good deal for a new(er) ragtop for her.

Sort of... but, with better ingredients.

Done well, it's great... sort of a cross between grain and meat.
Done less well, not so good.

The festival linked above is sponsored by another purveyor of the product. Decent, but not nearly as good as Eckerlin.

There are several diferent chili house brands. Friend liked Dixie chili that's in Northern Kentucky. I took many cans of it down a couple years ago when we met them in Pigeon Forge for a get together--they moved from N Ky to scenic upstate South Carolina.

He also talked about coming back up to visit and take home a bunch of goetta from a N Ky meat market or store that has a good brand that he liked when he lived here in the North.

Back on cars topic: People are as dedicated to some foods just as they are to their car brands.

One last note on chili. If I don’t make it, I’m not eating it. The last canned chili I let pass through my lips was in 1978, when a freak Texas snowstorm prevented me from going to the store, and my roommate had a couple of cans of chili that we were forced to ingest. The next day was not pleasant for either one of us. Emoticons don’t work, so imagine a screaming face.

Oh where to start on that one.

At one time I was considering the Crown Vic’s twin the Mercury Grand Marquis but I discovered the Lincoln Mark VIII instead. Unlike the puny 4.6L two valve in the Vic I had the 280hp four valve which was a screamer at higher rpm. I liked that drifting scene in the video. I would do that with the Mark if I was facing the wrong way when leaving work late at night. Especially when the lot was wet or icy you could rotate that big fella 180 degrees without moving the front tires.

Also I have experience with ex police cars. My BIL use to buy ex trooper cars at the auction and when the 440 Plymouth was too scary for him he knew a knucklehead who would run it up to 130 on the highway where the police had their speed traps. The cops must have thought it was one of their own because we never got stopped. The stuff we did with that car has me both proud and ashamed. You’ll never know fear like that of doing extremely high speeds in a 1960s Detroit whale boat on bias ply tires.

I missed that when I was in Cincy... sounds like something I would have liked.

You know what I didn’t quite get the rage over... Skyline Chili. I know that it’s blasphemy, but I didn’t think it was that good.

That's because it isn't. Mrs. j is not world renown for her chili but hers is a lot better than that rot gut. While what she knows about cars couldn't fill a thimble halfway, put her in her element, like the kitchen, and she'll knock your socks off. Pretty good with that if not great. And oh yeah, that dining room table thing.

FWIW, I hope she never finds this post. I don't want it to go to her head.

Another FWIW, I'm home from vacation now.

If you do up those Crown Vics the right way, they look solid and indestructible.

When I went to high school I would drag race a friend in our mother's Hillmans, but we only got them to about 60 mph.

The stuff we did with that car has me both proud and ashamed.

My wife thinks she found her car. A 2015 Audi A3 cabriolet with 25.5k on the clock for just under $20k. I would be tempted to check it out if it wasn't in the Quad Cities. Anyway I really want to wait until next year to start really looking for our next car.

    I can see why:

It gets good reviews, especially for the handling.

What happened? Snake, you getting to be a less practical man?
What happened to me? I am married that's what happened.
That's an excuse. Most of us can handle it. :p

I think the Skyline Chili thing is something you have to be raised on to think is good. I’m with you, just don’t get it. Southwestern or Western chili is what I grew up with so that’s what I prefer. Of course Texas folks swear by their beanless chili but I prefer some beans in mine. Preferably black beans.

At first, when we could pay the seniors price, we didn't want to admit we were seniors so we paid the regular price. After awhile we didn't care.
Once a couple in front of us who were almost 90 made a big thing about making sure the ticket person gave them the senior price....I am sure she would have done it without them asking or she would need an eye test.

I grew up in CA, but I’ve acquired a taste for Skyline. It’s available in cans at the grocery stores here in CO, and we’ve had it a couple times at home.

    Agreed, it’s an acquired taste.
