I chalk it up to arrogance and vanity in the case of tOSU.

Now initials are a strange thing, because too many people in other parts of the country think "University of Indiana" but that would make it UI instead of IU. Iowa and Illinois are both correctly UI.

On the other hand, there's a bad case of dyslexia in old Big 8 schools, where the University of Colorado is CU, the University of Kansas is KU, the University of Missouri is MU, and the University of Oklahoma is OU. For many years I thought Florida should have been in that conference so they could be FU.

IU put out something that stated they were allowing full capacity at Memorial Stadium for football games. It cracked me up because we only have full capacity when tOSU comes to town. That’s the day they take aerial pictures too because everyone is wearing red and white.

We were getting much better with coach Hoepner but he sadly developed a brain glioblastoma and succumbed to it. Then several steps backward but moving forward now The players love the coach

Last week I saw a newer Challenger with wide tires and multiple scoops and spoilers. Proudly affixed to the rear decklid was a "V6" badge. I was reminded of a Jerry Seinfeld monologue on personalized license plates:
"I saw a vanity plate that said: 'ED'S GEO' I thought, hold on a minute Ed, you're driving a Geo- this is no time to be bragging."

Driving home from lunch I was behind an older Chevy pickup. The left rear tire was nearly flat- it couldn't have had more than 10-15 pounds in it. I planned to get the driver's attention and tell him about it when I passed him but my wife noticed he had one hand casually draped on the wheel while using the other hand to scroll through texts on his phone. I kept silent and drove on past.

Coach Hoeppner was my wife's 2nd cousin (I think... Their grandfathers were brothers...so, whatever that equates to).

We saw him a couple of times when UC played Miami Univ (home and away). Also, made it to Bloomington for one game. He was a great guy. Man, he's been gone a long time. (17 or 18 years?)

U of I is the University of Indianapolis. Maybe Illinois should be The U of I??

From "in the system" the main campus is UIUC (Urbana-Champaign, don't call it Champaign-Urbana!) But otherwise yes, I always heard U of I, just got lazy back there. Come to think of it, I can't remember if people call Iowa U of I, but then I haven't ever spent that much time in Iowa. I'm not sure anyone outside Indianapolis (definitely nobody outside the state of Indiana) even cares about the University of Indianapolis.

I’m surprised how many out of state go to DePauw in Greencastle IN - Chicago, Boston; Hilton Head SC

I have never seen it referred to as UIUC but you are right about Urbana-Champaign. UIC is the Chicago campus also known as the Circle Campus.

I mean one has to assume the wiring spec can handle the extra load and has been tested… but it really is a suspicious fix.

What’s the next recall.. “your car’s fuel pump circuit has been overloaded and can cause a fire”

It's silly. They should just have a low-paid employee standing at the head of a line changing them on the fly. 5 mins ea, tops. Bang out 20-30 in an hour.

@snakeweasel It might be hard to find one of those Canadian pennies these days. They have been extinct for about 10 years now. Everything gets rounded up or down to the nearest nickel.
I wouldn't mind if they got rid of nickels and dimes....they are useless these days. I can use quarters and one or two dollar coins for most things that need change, but nickels and dimes are heavy in the pocket and they don't serve any useful purpose (kinda like some people.....just joking )

I have a lot of pennies too, and most are being stored in houses everywhere. They aren't worth the time of taking them to the bank, most people keep them in a drawer somewhere. They are 98% copper CDN coin), so they are worth more for their copper value than they are worth in a store...hmmmm, maybe that could be a new business idea.
