Are you using a program to transfer the current programs and folders on your old computer to your new one? If you currently have a lifetime copy of MS Office on your old computer, I believe you can copy that to your new computer. You may have to use an Office login that you set up on old computer or use a Microsoft login. If I'm not correct on the being able to bring forward your current Office programs, I'm sure someone will correct my statement here.
I currently have several copies of Office for HOme and Student or something like that. It has Excel, Word, and Powerpoint in it. I bought it on Amazon or Ebay choosing carefully the Ebay supplier for a long track record with few problems. When they have problems, they change their names and continue selling on Ebay.
But I understand I can install on 2 computers, and original and backup. I suspect as long as they usually are being used on computers one at a time and on the same IP address, all is good.
And that I can transfer the license were I to get a new computer.
My old computer is dead - can’t access anything and can’t sign in. I really don’t have that much stuff on the old computer so my friend is going to put the old computer into one of my locked storage cabinets in the storage room. That way it is secure.

This is one of those situations that I deal with on a fairly regular basis, helping out other people. It takes only a few minutes to remove the hard drive from the old dead computer, and attach it as a secondary drive on the new computer. Then it's easy-peasy to copy over any and all data files, such as word documents, spreadsheets, photos, what-have-you. Software programs are a little harder, and usually not worth the effort.
I have apparently suffered a major data breach somewhere, and I can’t seem to figure out where.
What a miserable situation.
I screwed up a few months ago with one of my cards, and got a fraud alert and question as to whether the charge that had just been made was legit or not within less than a minute after I clicked on a questionable link. I said no, and the card was summarily cancelled, and a new one sent. I have four or five recurring charges on that account, and it's taken several months to get them all straightened out, even though the CC company switched most of them over to the new number.
Good luck! At least you have the background to help you through this better than people like me.
Boy, Amazon really doesn't take this very seriously. I received an email this morning.
"After reviewing your Amazon.com account, we did not find any unauthorized activity. As a result, we did not make any changes to your account."
I called them, again, and gave them a piece of my mind. The person on the other end of the line apologized, and said the report from yesterday (which she pulled up) did not have the relevant information included, so she would re-file the report.
I definitely gave them all of the "relevant information" yesterday, the failure was completely on their end. I have changed the password, again, and double checked that 2FA is turned on.
The credit card linked to the Amazon account has been canceled, a replacement is coming. I don't think the credit card was compromised, but better to be safe.
The numbers on this kind of activity are staggering. The most recent numbers I could find (from 2016), say the percentage of cardholders impacted by fraud in the USA is 47% (and rising).
Guess I am the only Chiefs fan on here. I think they used the old rope-a-dope technique in the first half, and Eagles wore out, then came out on fire in second half. Had only 4 offensive drives in second half and scored on every one. 3 tds, one field goal, which could have been td if they wanted. Over all, a great, close game that could have gone either way. Teams were evenly matched. Fun to watch. I would never bet against Mahomes. He is so unconventional he's very hard to defend.

I believe is was more of an underperformance of the Eagles defense. Putting aside all the non-calls on holding, I'm pretty sure that was their only 0-sack game all season, and the number of times a Chiefs receiver was left wide open was absurd. I don't know what the heck they were doing. That just shouldn't happen.
2 weeks ago, I was happy for the Chiefs because, if we had to lose to anybody in the SB, I'd rather it be Mahomes than anyone else. But I was disappointed with how it went down. I would have preferred to lose with a hard-fought game rather than a previously unheard of mistake by Hurts, previously unseen poor defense, and deplorable reffing. It was just a frustrating mess.

Calls were missed on each side and no game has ever been perfectly called. All in all I thought the game was fairly called. I hate to see ticky tac penalties on every other play and prefer to see "let em play" type games. Eagles were tough, and one of my fav teams. Chiefs just came out on top this time.
I am not a fan of either team but chose to root for the Eagles because the Chiefs have always been one of my least favorite teams along with the Ravens. As qb noted, their defence really didn’t show up for this one which surprised me. The holding call at the end probably shouldn’t have been made considering the officials hadn’t been calling the game very tightly until that point but somehow it didn’t seem surprising to me that the Chiefs won.
Today is the 6 month anniversary of paying off the Ascent. I still don't have the title.
No matter what I do - phone calls to India, emails, chatlines - all they do is keep buying time. Today when I called they said the lien was going to be released to PennDOT on Feb 21st. I asked why since they have had 6 months to get it released. No reply.
I traded my Legacy on Jan. 6th and the BMW dealer had the title in about 2 weeks. Both financed through Chase.
If anyone has any intent at all to finance through JP Morgan Chase, be forewarned...Don't do it.
@venture Chase is a pain with almost everything. I had an elderly relative pass away, recently. Getting control of his checking account was an ordeal. His lawyer said there is a saying in Lexington, KY. "Don't ever die with a Chase Bank account".

Do you have a letter or something showing that the loan is paid off? I ask because here in Virginia I’ve been able to get a replacement title showing no liens from the DMV with a payoff letter. You should get the title from Chase but if you are worried about having the title that might be an option for you.

Up until around 2-3 years ago Amazon up here in Canada had a Chase Amazon Visa card program. I got one of the cards and never had a problem with them. One day Amazon announces the card is being cancelled at some future date.I got my last statement and paid off the small amount from my final purchase with it. Months go by, then Amazon announces that they are forgiving all of the outstanding balances the Chase Amazon card holders who hadn't paid their bills were responsible for. That did not result in me being in a good mood since I had paid mine like a responsible person. Maybe their deal with Chase had them being responsible for bad debtors, who knows. Amazon Canada now has a new CC, a MBNA-sounced Mastercard, which I am avoiding.
It's too bad Chase seems to have declined so badly. I remember seeing ads for them when they were Chase Manhattan (a very sophisticated-sounding name), with the slogan, "You have a friend at Chase Manhattan". I guess now that they are part of JP Morgan they have no friends.
for the water heater debate. Though this guy seems to be on the payroll of big tankless!
Thanks for that stick. That was a really good video. If we believe him a tankless water heater could cost the same or less, and they should last for 20 years, instead of about 10 for a tank style. That made me wonder whether it was better to get an electric or a gas tankless water heater. We have gas in the house, but judging from this article I think I would opt for electric; https://www.waterheaterleakinginfo.com/gas-vs-electric/
btw...I don't think water heaters were on our "do not discuss list".

I have been a Chase customer for several years now. For the longest time, I only had a Credit Union account. Actually, I had accounts at 3 credit unions, but one was my primary banking facility. They had a branch office right where I worked, so they were incredibly convenient. And their rates on car loans were simply unbeatable, and by a good margin.
A few years back (maybe 2015?) I opened an account at Chase. I was working contract, and the guy I contracted through was a very small one man shop. He was a former employee of the same outfit, now retired, and he knew the right people, so they let him handle contract employees. He didn't have many contractors, just a small handful, but we were all fellow retirees, and he paid through more of the gross hourly amount than anyone else.
Unfortunately, he did not have the ability to do direct deposit, so he was mailing paychecks. The mail delivery in my neighborhood is atrocious, and I lost several checks. I saw that his checks were from Chase, so I opened an account there just so that he could do a simple transfer into my Chase account.
I only used the Chase account to get paid, transferring the money over to the company credit union and doing my banking there. But after I retired, the company credit union was no longer convenient. And Chase has branches literally everywhere, at least in my neck of the woods. It's like the old commercial, "If you can't find a Pilgrim's in 5 minutes you're lost!"
These days, I do almost all of my banking with Chase, and so far I have no complaints. I do maintain a credit union account, but I don't really use it. I do note that Chase is a lot higher on car loans than the credit union, but I no longer finance cars so I could care less.
I agree with the comment that @kyfdx made eluding to the fact that doing something that is straight forward on Chase is often unnecessarily difficult, Chase defends their policies under the guise of protecting security.
@henryn - for a long time, the wife and I maintained our bank accounts at a small, local bank. Everything was fine, but then we noticed that it was hard to do some electronic transfers of funds - car payments, etc.
So, we bit the bullet and moved our accounts to Chase. The phone app is nice - can take pictures of checks for deposit, and the on-line bill pay is very user friendly. When we started the LLC for the cooking studio, we went back to Chase and opened up a business account with them, as well. After a bit, we were able to qualify for a business credit card, which the girls use for just about all expenses. The points rack up pretty quickly, and my wife trades them in for gift cards for the staff and family members.
I've got a Southwest Airlines CC that is through Chase, and my wife has a personal CC from them, as well.
All in all, we've been pretty happy with Chase. I know they aren't perfect, but then again no bank is.
I don't have anything against big national or regional banks. (my "local" bank is a big regional operation) It's just my experience with Chase. Mostly, their local people (here and in Lexington) are fine. But, they don't have any leeway to use common sense.
Today is the 6 month anniversary of paying off the Ascent. I still don't have the title.

Do you have a letter or something showing that the loan is paid off? I ask because here in Virginia I’ve been able to get a replacement title showing no liens from the DMV with a payoff letter. You should get the title from Chase but if you are worried about having the title that might be an option for you.
I had nothing until yesterday. My dealer actually called Chase a few weeks ago and somehow got them to send a "Lien Release with Acknowledgement". There is a link on their web site you can click on to get that paperwork, but it always says the information is "not available at this time". On both cars. It's been that way for 6 months.
The Lien Release I got is worthless because Pennsylvania is an Electronic Lien Transfer (ELT) state; which most are. When the lienholder notifies the DMV electronically that the lien is satisfied, according to the law, the DMV has to print out the title the next day and mail it. It doesn't come from Chase.
The ELT worked fine with the Legacy.
I took the lien release paper and went to two different places that process stuff for the DMV and both said the same thing - that Chase has to release the title to the state (or something like that).
When this all started, Chase said the dealer made a mistake on the initial paperwork and that is what was holding things up. I got a copy of the dealer paperwork for both cars and it is identical except for the model and VIN of course.
I agree with the comment that @kyfdx made eluding to the fact that doing something that is straight forward on Chase is often unnecessarily difficult, Chase defends their policies under the guise of protecting security.
I'm sure everyone loves them when everything is going OK. It tells you how good a company is when something goes wrong.
Crappy situation, but think how much worse it would be if you were trying to sell the car (or were the dealer that took it on trade, and can't do anything with it.)
Gasoline prices, which are historically volatile, ticked up 2.4 percent in January after declining 7 percent in December. This after after dropping from the painful highs of around $4 per gallon seen during last summer's travel season. Overall, gasoline cost 1.5 percent more in January than it did 12 months previously.
Some good news: the price of used cars and trucks dropped 1.9 percent in January. In fact, prices of used vehicles have been declining for months, and are down 11.6 percent compared to January 2022.
Meanwhile, the price of new cars and trucks is up 5.8 percent over the prior year after increasing 0.2 percent in January, a reflection, in other words, of what happens when limited demand runs into even more limited supply. An ongoing global microchip shortage means dealers still have relatively few new vehicles on their lots.
A while ago there was a discussion about car taxes and registration. Just received this for the O6 TL. Plate expires next month. Needless to say the newer and more expensive the vehicle increases the bill significantly.
Update, I thought this bill looked higher than last year so I pulled the record. Last year it was $57.25. There is a new separate charge of $40 for roads that has been tacked on.
