No problems for us. It ain’t always the size of the window. Our Sprinter has massive rear windows, but they are like 15 feet from the driver, divided by the door frames, and 7 feet off the ground. The X2 had a great view in comparison.

Yeah, but that's a bus, not a CUV.

Actually, a waterless hot water heater would be a great invention, I have to find some backers.

They have them, I was at the Home Depot the other day and saw a whole isle of hot water heaters and not a one of them had water in them.
They are a great invention....never have calcium buildup, never rust out....it is just hard to have a shower with one.

I have steadfastly avoided Windows 11, not because I love Windows 10 but because it seems like it is change for the sake of change and gives me nothing of value to me.

For the average home user, there is no benefit to moving to Windows 11 at this point in time. But there is also no really good reason to pass up the free upgrade. Do what pleases you.
I think a good reason (for me at least) is that they moved my cheese in W11 so that everything is different enough to make me get irritated with it.
It does require a little acclimatization. For casual users, that's probably not worth the effort.

And on an entirely different subject: A few minutes ago, stopped at a red light, I found myself directly behind an X2. I couldn't help noticing that thing had about the smallest, narrowest rear window that I have ever seen on an automobile.

Found a picture. And in real life, it looks even smaller than it does in this picture.

As you may know, I am not a fan of small windows and that was is small, and has a smaller viewing area because of the slope....the actually viewing area might be only 6 inches high!
Even some of the midsize cars have 4 door coupes these days, with narrow windows. I believe this is an A5.

But at least they have backup cameras...it would be even worse if they are cameraless. :(

I have Windows 11 on my 3 month old laptop. I don't like that they moved the little working things like the folders etc to the middle at the bottom instead of having it on the left. Why change that....to make it different? I guess they made it so you have to buy Word and any other programs that used to be free. It's the new business model, make it like Mercedes so only they can sell you programs and upgrades...it gives them a steady stream of money. I only wanted W11 because then it might last longer before it expires. :s

You can move that - here's a screenshot of my Win11 display:

Microsoft Word has never been free, not ever, in the history of the universe. Perhaps what you're thinking of is the new "subscription service" where you have to pay $99 per year for a subscription to Office 365. The answer to that is to buy a permanent license to Microsoft Office 2021. I recently posted where you can get that for $49.
But my old laptop that had Windows 7 came with some kind of free program that I could use. My new one, that is 3 months old made Microsoft mandatory...until my IT guy disabled all their programs and gave me Libre. Libre or death I say, oh no, that's Liberty or death...forgot.

MrsD100 is pretty certain she can add a "Tankless Hot Water Heater" on the current system, and if not, she is prepared to pay whatever it costs to have an electric unit put in.
I have to say, she doesn't own expensive jewelry or have fancy clothes, she is satisfied to keep her 2015 GLK and doesn't want a new car, so if she desires a "Tankless Hot Water Heater" she has my blessings.

Here’s a new scam I haven’t seen before. I got an email supposedly from FedEx saying they had an urgent shipment for me that they couldn’t deliver and I had to reference a tracking number and plug it into their system to arrange delivery.

Now, my kids get stuff from FedEx but I rarely do and besides, why would they email me for their items? I called the FedEx phone number listed and got an annoying robo menu that wouldn’t let me talk to a person. It hung up on me and I finally had to just forward the suspect email to their fraud division. Pretty sloppy cyber security if you ask me.

On a more positive note, I was at a Ford dealer yesterday and the service manager claimed that they had so much new inventory that they were utilizing off site storage lots to hold it all. If he wasn’t just blowing wind that sounds like a positive development.

Less positive was when I asked when the 2024 redesigned Mustang would be coming out and he sarcastically said: “2025”.

That could just be their holding lot for all the unsaleable vehicles impounded for recalls that are awaiting parts or a software fix.

most of my email on one account is scams and junk. some of it is extremely crude so blatantly obvious, but a few look like someone actually put some time into it, so if you aren't paying attention (and naturally cynical) it could be easy to fall into the trap.

I got one overnight this week from Interac, the e-banking service up here (not sure if they operate in the US) that looked very legit and had an Interac mail address in the from field (I don’t know if the domain was totally correct though). First problem was that it was in French. I sent it to Google Translate which said it was Romanian, problem #2. Translate told me they were offering me $20. They had no reason to give me $20 so I skipped it. The next email I opened said that the transfer had been revoked. WTH that was about I have no idea.

Before I retired, I was also subjected to the "phishing tests" by my employer. As I had "admin privileges", the penalties for failing one of the tests were pretty severe.

I have been receiving emails about a Lowe's credit card. They show a statement balance of $511. I don't have a Lowe's credit card, so I assumed they were phishing scams. This last one, I looked at the embedded links, and traced back the web address. It does indeed belong to Synchrony bank, which is the company Lowe's uses for their credit cards.

I dug around on their web site, found a phone number and called it. 10 minutes later, after much frustration with their phone robots, I got a human on the phone. He transferred me to their "fraud department", and I have been on hold there for another 10 minutes. These companies really really make it hard to report fraud. It's like they don't want to know, or don't want to hear from their customers (or non-customers as the case might be).

ON EDIT: After 22 minutes on the phone, the representative that I finally spoke with refused to help me if I did not give her my social security number. At that point I just hung up.

I monitor my credit closely, if this ever shows up I will just challenge it there.

Like I said about a month ago, I got a notice from Home Depot that they were holding an item that cost $260 until they got verification to put the order through. I called VISA, and after explaining the situation they told me I had to wait until the order went through to report it as fraud. I thought....what about heading them off at the pass before they do anything? Nope, it finally got cancelled. I think they didn't give the correct VISA number....and punched in mine.

If it weren't for Spam, I'd get no emails at all!
Really, folks, in this day and age, is it really that hard to spot spam? If you're truly unsure, just ignore and contact directly whom you believe may be the true originator. A good indicator, if you're referred to in the body by your email addy instead of your name; "Greetings, thanksyouforyour personalinformation@gmail.com! You may not believe this, but you've won a $50 gift card to Sears!"

I am glad I worked at a time when employers didn't try to trick their employees.
When I started selling books I had one order form, I sent it in and never got questioned.
Late we filled out forms with 4 copies, if you didn't sell enough it got reviewed and you had to go back and sell more.
Managers would put their name on one copy so it was harder to get rid of them...they'd have to change the forms.
I don't remember anyone trying to trick us to see if we were working properly...I guess there was more trust.

made the mistake of sitting down to do my taxes today. Took a bit longer than normal since I had 2 states worth of forms, a house sale, so quite a bit more to calculate.

Not surprised (since I never got around to upping withholding on a pension that kicked in) but the federal amount due was painful. And I had gotten that almost perfectly dialed in by 2021. At least I got the new state almost exact, and new Jersey I still got a refund like I always did.

Might need to fly JMonroe in to help "fix" the situation!

left it for tomorrow to review it all again to make sure I didn't make any goofs. Hopefully I did, and they work to my favor!

    just did mine, too.
2 states and rental "business." I was hating on taxact this time around because it kept telling me "oh, you want to do THAT? That'll cost you more!" By the time I got to the end, it charged me over $200 ... to do my own taxes. hmmmm....
Since I don't want to do it all again, I just paid it. Got a decent enough return. Still carrying over a massive loss on the sale of our previous rental home.
I've got an accounting firm working on the Brosen Motors return... which won't be a return at all, but they can start putting together all the pieces for me.

Steamed my clams that I had to pay HR block (tax cut) for a 2nd state program (Federal + state only comes with 1). But at least NY has a law that E file is free, so did not have to pay for that privilege. Paying money just to be able to send them money, seems wrong on many levels.

Hmm, I think we spent over $1500 on our taxes last year (but, those costs are themselves deductable). The business taxes are due in mid-March, then the carryover from them (we're an LLC) will go onto our personal 1040's in April.
